Five.others Mulls Over The Ever-Present Conundrum Of Romance On Qu’est Que C’est

The Toronto native continues to impress with his eclectic and relatable blend of introspection.

As an elusive D.I.Y. artist from Toronto, five.others have cultivated a mystique and anticipation that underlines his releases and artistic profile.

With his releases often taking meaningful, introspective tones, five.others release entertainment by stimulating both your mind and your senses. We often forget that the answers to the questions we seek are found inside. Five.others releases are a frank and moving reminder to not neglect our inner consciousness, even if it might be challenging at times.

Although standout releases like “The Bottom” and “Daybreak” established five.others as a creative force to be reckoned with, he was never content to sit on his laurels. In fact, “Daybreak” and another popular release, “Midnight,” would be heralds for the full-length, similarly outstanding project “FNKTN.”

Having shown the ability to capture lightning in a bottle and mold it into cohesive themes, five.others’s future in the industry looks bright, as he’s proven he’s one of the few with a grand artistic vision and the skills to see his vision to fruition.

Five.other’s latest release, “Qu’est Que C’est,” is perfect for unwinding after a long day or relaxing before you start it. As the track begins, a soothing guitar eases you into five.others’s accessible, winding soundscape.

five.others’s smooth vocals warble and flow, encapsulating you in what feels like the musical version of a warm blanket. As he sings lines like “What would I do to love you?”, there’s an underlying feeling of mystique that also embodies “Qu’est Que C’est,” making for an enchanting listening experience that won’t be quickly forgotten.

Qu’est Que C’est is both five.others’s latest release and a continuation of his musical brilliance. As he continues to add to his impressive discography, tap in and stream his new release, “Qu’est Que C’est,” on all majour streaming platforms.

Welcome to BUZZ, five.others! We loved "Qu’est Que C’est," we had to know! What was the inspiration behind this release, and what was your favorite part of the creative process and bringing it to life?

Thank you for having me BuzzMusic. As a musician, I am part of many different projects with different people and roles. My work five.others is almost entirely independent, from writing to production to mastering, even artwork and videos. Creating music this way has been a compulsion or habit for quite some time. In many ways, my identity and aptitudes are intertwined with creating, and in many more, it keeps me sane or brings me the most joy.

As an overthinker, my creative process is often to let go to avoid intellectualizing my work until after the fact. Qu’est que C’est somewhat embodies this ethos, is easily one of my more accessible songs, and is relatively straightforward. A song about appreciation and longing for the little things that make life worthwhile and fulfilling.

What inspired you to start making music, and what’s been your favorite music-related memory thus far?

I have always been a creative and music enjoyer, but I started playing music when I wasn’t until my mid-teens. With that being said, I’ve spent most of my life since then doing as much as I have been able to in music. From improving and creating to sharing time with friends, many of my positive life experiences have been music-related, so it is difficult to narrow it down to anything too specific.

I have been enjoying my time as an open mic host. It allows me to be in service to other musicians, to make connections and build community. With so much of my time as a creator spent alone and within myself, it does act as a counterbalance, allowing me to apply my skills differently with different rewards. It helps me meet new collaborators and friends and provides a guaranteed 2 “gig nights” per week.

What goals do you want to achieve through your music?

This is a difficult question to answer. I think the best way to put it is that I want to create music that I enjoy. There might be other affluences or influences that would benefit my quality of life, but to enjoy community is probably the best reward, and l one that I try not to take for granted.

What qualities do you believe are the most important for a musician to have?

This might be another goals oriented question, but more importantly there is no one way to the proverbial top. Some succeed in music because of their technical proficiency, others because of their ability to self-market. Connections are meaningful, of course, but it’s difficult to say that any one quality is necessary.

If I had to pick one it might be balance, or resiliency. On some level it is good to be self critical or self aware, but too much is counterproductive. Regardless of connotation, the same might be said for confidence or any quality. I usually advise others to trust themselves and follow their heart, but we often can only give the advice we need.

What’s next for five.others? Can we expect to hear even more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans?

It’s usually about 9 months between releases, and I have started working on new music since this latest release. That being said, I don’t have any concrete plans at this point. I’m lucky to be involved in other projects for others.

I’ve been debating what is next. Maybe it’s time to release daily TikTok covers. Maybe it’s time to hire a band for an album or live performance. Maybe it’s time to fade further into obscurity. Do I need more of a plan? Or maybe I need less?

I’m existential, so maybe the only next step is contemplating what I am trying to do with my life. It’s been about 7 years that I’ve been self-producing music under this moniker, and maybe it’s run its course.

Maybe I can’t do anything else, and I’ll continue making too much music. To any fans, I’m thankful to have added some value to your life. I’ve officially released 53 songs under this project, so there is much to listen to if you desire. In all likelihood, there will be more, so like and follow and all that nonsense. Let me know if the music matters to you.
