Welcome back to BuzzMusic Viktoria. We love the beauty that lies in the narrative of “Heartbeat.” With such reflective words being conveyed to your listeners, what moment or story played into the inspiration of this track?
I came up with the Heartbeat when I first fell in love with the USA. I wanted to describe the physical feeling one gets when your heart is starting to beat faster and you feel a huge excitement about a new journey. For me, this was my music career in America.
Being versatile in the music that you create, do you have a preferred subject or sound to instill in your original creations? How does “Heartbeat” fit on this spectrum?
Yes, when I am creating I often channel different vibes and feels, for instance with “Heartbeat” I was going for a sexy R&B vibe, but also somewhat ambient and ethereal such as Alina Baraz, I love her EP, Urban Flora that she did with Galiamatas.
How long did the creative process of this song take to unfold? Did you find it fairly easy to tap into this headspace during creation?
I wrote Heartbeat in literally a few minutes. This was back in 2019 during my first year in the USA. The production process took us a while because I was looking for this particular chill and sexy sound. I can always count on my producer, Dan Searl, he is truly creative and always help me to stay open-minded with different edits and experimental flips during the production process
What is the main message that you aim to send out to your audience through “Heartbeat?"
My main message is to not be scared of your own feelings and also how your body reacts to them. Honesty and vulnerability always help us to stay true to ourselves and listen to our feelings and how our hearts react to different situations. Also, this song makes me feel sexy and free. I want every woman to feel that way.
