Gina D’soto Shows Us “The Way” With Her Brand New Single

Havana native Gina D'Soto is an established vocalist, making waves in the New York music scene.

Inspired by her journey of self-discovery, “The Way” manifests Gina's frustrations and disappointments in a musical form. The lyrics came to Gina during a moment of clarity. It revealed humans' power and potential to mold our lives, shape our destinies, and steer our thoughts. The song beautifully reflects Gina's personal growth, introspection, and self-awareness journey. It serves as a reminder that every journey happens at its own pace.

This track collaborates with the producer duo RDNoise, composed of David Alastre and Ray Luer, originally from Venezuela but now based in New York and Nashville. German Landaeta did the mastering, while the track also features a flute solo by the seasoned musician Elena Pinderhughes.

Soft horn melodies paired with a relaxed drum pattern craft an atmosphere of tranquility and warmth. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, Gina D'Soto, and congratulations on your latest release, "The Way." In what ways has growing up in Cuba influenced your musical style?

Cuba has constantly influenced everything, not just my music but my way of being. I always liked Jazz, R&B, and Alternative Pop, but when it comes to creating my music, I try to show some of my Cuban roots either in the rhythms or style; it all depends on what I'm searching for, but Cuba is always there.

Can you take us through your process of creating "The Way?" What came first — the melody, the lyrics, the beat?

With "The Way," I remember it was a weird process. First was part of the lyrics, then part of the melody, then some more lyrics, and so on. The beat was the last thing because I wasn't clear how I wanted to feel the song's vibe. Thankfully David Alastre and Ray Luer ( RD Noice) came to my rescue with the beat and production of this song and helped me tremendously to bring to life what I had envisioned. What core message do you hope your listeners take away from "The Way?"

This song brings me peace in moments when I feel discouraged, and it's been kind of like a mantra...so I hope that my listeners find in this song the hugs they need, the pat on the back, the friendly voice that says that everything is going to be ok. We need to embrace our days one step at a time.

How do you handle creative blocks or periods of reduced inspiration?

I definitely get frustrated, not gonna lie, but when this happens, I usually visit museums or galleries; also, a book is a wonderful source of inspiration. So yes, I get annoyed with myself when I have a creative block, but I've been trying to embrace the process of letting go. When words or music are not coming out, take a break; eventually, things will start to flow again.

Do you have any upcoming projects you’re looking forward to sharing?

Yes! Well, I'm finishing my EP with the help of the amazing producers David Alastre and Ray Luer; also with the wonderful German Landaeta. We have been working very hard on this project, and soon, everyone can listen. This EP will be mainly in English, but more music will be in Spanish, as well as collaborations with amazing artists. Can't wait!
