Welcome to BuzzMusic HART; congrats on your latest release, “They Say” What inspired you to write the lyrics, and how do they reflect your personal experiences with relationships?" I got into a bad argument with my girl. Music has always given me an opportunity to get shit off my chest, and after this particular argument that seemed to not have any logic from either of us, I stepped to the mic and “they say love is, the absence of expectation” is the statement that came out. The song wrote itself, and it didn’t take me long to get back to loving my girl. So the song just came together perfectly, and it served its purpose at the time. It made me lose my anger with the situation and helped me to focus on what mattered most. Love Your music has been described as a blend of R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop. How did you develop your unique sound, and what artists have influenced you the most?"
I grew up on a very mainstream, top 40 sound. Legendary artists like Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder, Boys 2 Men, Bobby Brown, and Bob Marley, to name a few. My mom always likes to call me a little romancer (aka hopeless romantic), so mixing the background of sound I grew up on and my emotional capacity is where I would say my sound came from. How did it feel to hear 'They Say' played on CBC Radio during your Canada-wide tour? Did you expect the song to receive such a positive response?"
It was such an amazing feeling!! To know that people across Canada were hearing me. The real expression of my vibe and thoughts was so gratifying. I didn’t think people would like my music because it’s so emotional. It’s not your typical cool topic. But what’s cool anyways? You've been compared to artists like Miguel and Giveon. What do you think sets your music apart from others in the industry, and how do you hope to leave your mark?"
My music is different because it is about the things we all would rather hide and not put a spotlight on. It’s the growth moments in life. The moments we can look back on and say, “damn, if it weren’t for that happening to me, I wouldn’t be where I am today”—the lovesick moments in life. My music has helped me to heal, and I hope it will do the same for others. Sharing stories from my life and the people in my life helps me better understand who I am. Knowing who I am helped me love myself more and enjoy my life more, fully accepting who I am. This is my legacy; this is my impact. It was knowing thy self and loving thy self. What can fans expect from your upcoming releases, and how will they build on the themes and emotions explored in 'They Say'?"
The fans can expect a roller coaster ride of emotions filled with highs and lows. I’m letting listeners into a diary of common thoughts, perspectives, and situations that many have encountered throughout life. It’s the Lovesick Diaries Vol.1. This project is truly the audible and visual representation of unconditional love. Because love isn’t easy, but it’s the only thing worth fighting for.
