“Superior” is the debut track from Lena Luca and wow, what a way to kick start her career! This power anthem is Electronic Pop based and checks off all of the boxes. Production-wise, everything feels very up to date, which is brought to the table by Justin Mauriello of the successful group “Zebrahead”. The vocal performance showcases a wide range of Lena Luca’s head voice plus her amazing and outstanding falsetto. Lyrically, the song begs the question “what makes you superior?” - which feels like an honest delivery of not taking anything less than what she deserves from someone who needs more than what they have. Lena Luca displays a true sense of artistry and uniqueness throughout the song with a refreshing spin on the Electronic Pop genre, which completely has set her apart - right from the beginning of her career. This song is also the start from her realizing she needed to go solo after stepping down from being part of the group, Elevated and we are happy with her choice to do so!

Hey Lena Luca, welcome to BuzzMusic! We're thrilled to be one of the first to hear your new single "Superior". Can you tell us a bit about what inspired you to write this? Hello, and thank you! I'm super excited to be featured! It's actually a couple of different things that inspired me to write "Superior." The original idea stemmed from my strong feelings against factory farming. However, when I decided to sit down and officially dive into the lyrics, given the recent happenings with immigration camps and attending a protest on July 4th against them, my inspiration came more from attempting to imagine what it might feel like to be in that situation personally.
"Superior" truly showcases your powerful vocals and lyrical ability. What's your writing style and process like when you create new music? My writing process and style actually changes from song to song. Usually, I tend to write music and lyrics at the same time. "Superior" marks what might be the deepest I've ever dug into making lyrics the best they could be. I initially wrote the melody and lyrics at the same time, then ended up scratching all of the old lyrics and writing entirely new ones. Toward the end of the process, I had some help from my producer Justin Mauriello and guitarist Mike Kiddoo on polishing them to give some parts the extra lift that they needed. How has the Austin, TX, music scene contributed to your musical experience and career in the music industry? That's a subject that I find myself discussing with other local musicians often. Since Austin is known as the live music capital of the world, a lot of musicians flock here to get a start into the scene. What I realized was that there is so much more talent than I could've known, and I am always learning something new by being around the creative energy! I think it also pushes me a lot harder to be the best that I can be, and really work on new ways to get myself out there and get my music noticed. Austin also has programs like HAAM, which provides free or affordable healthcare for musicians, and Black Fret, which gives musicians the opportunity to win grants to put towards their projects. I am always extremely thankful to be able to have resources like these help me along on my journey! As 2019 comes to an end, what was a career highlight for you this year? Honestly, releasing this song is a huge part of it! It was part of the reason why i branched off into a solo career as Lena Luca. Deciding to go solo in August opened up lots of creative outlets for me that I had been putting on the back burner, and my dry spell of writing that I was experiencing soon came to an end. What's next for Lena Luca? I have been writing a lot of new music lately. My producer and I started working on a second single called "Gravity" which dives into some cool hip hop and R&B production that I am very excited about! We have plans to record an EP during the spring, which is also when I plan to debut the live show.
