Listen As Ize Trio Saps Your Worries Away On Their New Release, “Resurrecting the Amber Sky: I. Present”

Music remains a powerful tool for healing in the right hands.

By infusing their music with the rich tapestry of influences their diverse backgrounds afforded them, the Ize Trio crafts intricate soundscapes that reflect the multifaceted immigrant experience.

With each performance, they aim to shed light on immigrant rights, channeling their collective artistry into a call for empathy and understanding. Their dedication to combining heritage with improvisational jazz serves as a reminder that music is not just an art form—it’s a powerful bridge to connection and a universal language.

At the heart of Ize Trio is a mission to blend the deep-rooted American art form of jazz with rich Middle Eastern traditions. The result is a mesmerizing fusion that transcends musical borders, weaving together cultures through original compositions and live performances.

This multicultural ensemble seeks to push the boundaries of jazz and create a space for inclusive dialogue about the often complex relationship between the U.S. and the Middle East. Music (and jazz, for that matter) can be all-encompassing, but only if we let it. In a time of increasing polarity and division, the Ize Trio chooses to be a unification force instead.

As lively piano play eases you into the soundscape of “Resurrecting the Amber Sky: I. Present,” it’s impossible not to feel like your worries are slipping away. Regarding the Ize Trio project, Middle Eastern influences are a little more subtle on this release but still present, especially concerning the intricate rhythm and modal structures.

Refreshingly, this structure is still layered with jazz's improvisational freedom and harmonic complexity, making for a delightful offering that’s easy on the ears. “Resurrecting the Amber Sky: I. Present” evokes feelings of a beautiful Sunday morning, and in all, Ize Trio has once again produced a release that heals rather than disrupts.

Ize Trio’s vision resonates beyond the stage. It's a vision that dreams of inspiring musicians from all walks of life to embrace their roots and contribute to the ever-evolving jazz tradition, and with every release, they fulfill a little more of that dream.

Whenever you’re ready for music as easy as a Sunday morning, tap in and stream Ize Trio’s new release, “Resurrecting the Amber Sky: I. Present,” on all major streaming platforms.

Welcome to Buzz, Ize Trio! We loved “Resurrecting the Amber Sky: I. Present”; we can tell how much thought went into this release! It sounds like you were having a lot of fun, too! We wanted to ask what the creative process was like for this release. Was it completely improvised, or was it more structured?

This track was among many on our new album, "Ize Trio: The Global Suites." This particular song was influenced by our passion for environmentalism. It is equally structured and improvised. We like to blend these two seamlessly, which we call "comprovising!"

What’s your biggest source of motivation when you make your music, and as an extension of that, what does music mean to you?

This is a big question! I think it depends on the context, but generally speaking, I am most motivated by the incredible community and people around me and the causes we care about. For this particular group/recording, I wrote music dedicated to different social issues regarding environmentalism, immigration, and education.

The music follows narrative-like stories related to our personal experiences with these issues. I believe music can be a source of healing and has the power to help combat pressing world problems.

One small example of this for our group is the importance of representing multicultural collaboration. In Ize Trio, we bring the traditions and backgrounds of our hometowns (California, Cyprus, and Palestine) to the music. When people hear our music, they hear our friendship and different identities, and hopefully, it inspires them to bring these qualities to their own communities.

What do you think is the most crucial quality for a musician to have?

I'm not sure about the most essential qualities, but humility and curiosity are two important qualities to me. Music is constantly challenging and constantly evolving. It has existed since the beginning of humanity and is at the core of what it means to be human.

Thinking any one of us knows all the answers is foolish and doesn't give space for others who might have a different approach.

The people I admire most, like Wayne Shorter and my mentor Danilo Perez, continue to search and experiment with their lives with deep compassion and humility toward those around them. They inspire me to be better and use music for good.

What would you want it to be if your fans could take one thing away from your music?

I hope our fans leave with joyful curiosity. When we play live, we dance, we uplift, and we take people on a cinematic journey!

Every concert is unique and spontaneous, blending improvisation and composition and hopefully leaving questions: "What was that?" "How did I feel that way?" "Where did that come from?" If you stick around with us, you will find we are searching for the same answers!

What’s next for Ize Trio, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

Next month, we will embark on a small tour in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, and Ohio. We are playing music from our new album, "Ize Trio: The Global Suites." We are trying to share this music with as many people as possible.

After that, we have another album next year and many more special collaborations with artists and organizations supporting various social causes.

Please listen to our record, and if you enjoy it, please reach out, stay in touch, and stay tuned for more concerts and exciting projects soon.
