Welcome to BuzzMusic, Malcom Rose. We truly appreciate the honesty and vulnerability you've brought to your recent single, "Pieces." What moment inspired you to create such a genuine piece like this?

I can't name a specific moment if I'm being honest. The truth is "Pieces" inspiration came from multiple incidences throughout past relationships. Hence why I named it "Pieces." It's almost like my own personal scrapbook of past relationships that turned bad.

Did you create the melancholy and heartfelt production yourself within "Pieces"? Why did you choose to create such an organic, soft, and easy-listening sonic atmosphere?

The original instrumental was actually created by a producer named Matthew May. I actually wrote "Pieces" prior to hearing the instrumental, but once I did, I knew it was a perfect fit. However, my engineer and I did make some additions, such as the violin and voice mail.

Do you often extend your sound outside of typical hip-hop, similar to the emotional and singer-songwriter sounds within "Pieces"?

I truly enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone when it comes to creating new music. I a lot of my music is all personally inspired by events or stories I've come across or been a part of throughout my life. Although I will say more recently, I've found myself writing from a more emotional and vulnerable place. I think it's part of me really becoming comfortable with myself as an artist.

What was the most challenging part of creating "Pieces"? Did you face any hardships when opening your heart and writing about your sincere emotions?

I'd definitely consider myself a pretty private person, especially when it comes to my emotions. If I'm being honest, I spent most of my life running from them, but I think opening up and creating "Pieces" and allowing myself to display more of a vulnerable side of who I am emotional. It helped me grow as a person.

What would you like new listeners to know about you and the music that you create?

I'm just someone who originally had no business making music. I don't know how to read sheet music, and I actually taught myself how to sing in my basement. I guess the point of trying to make is never to doubt yourself. Believe in your capabilities and always try, no matter what you're doing.

With my new music, I'm making and releasing. It's definitely gonna be nothing like my prior and original sound. I'm diving more into the alternative pop/rock with a dash of rap to still stick to my roots. Every day I feel myself developing as an artist, and I just hope to have you all along for the ride.

Do you have any other releases planned before the end of the year?

Currently, I have nothing prior to the new year planned, but…. DEFINITELY expect something once the clock strikes 12.
