Nice to have you today! Tell us about your road to success
Thank you for having me! Wow, that’s a big question. First of all, success to me is what you define it to be. I want to grow as an artist so when I do that, that’s success to me! And I am learning and practicing to see the small successes and acknowledge them when I get there. Otherwise I would feel like I’m standing still, and that won’t help me move forward. If I celebrate the wins along the way, it makes me more brave and it inspires me to keep going! And besides that, I have put a lot of time into my performance and my voice too feels in control and confident in what I do.
If you could be in two places at one time, everyday...where would those places be?
Easy question! Stockholm and New York City. I have so many loved ones in Stockholm, but my heart is in NYC as well. I feel home in both places in different ways.
How do you get pumped up before a big event?
Well, I don’t know if this counts for getting pumped up, haha! But before a performance or big event, I try to have a routine. It can be getting ready, warming up, getting my mind and focus in the right spot. Usually just before going on stage, I like to listen to the crowd and zoom in on being present and in the moment.
What is your mantra?
Well I guess part of my voice warm up routine is a kind of a mantra. It’s an exercise very focused on feeling the resonance moving and connecting the voice with the body and mind. It’s like a mini meditation. And I sometimes do a version of that just before going on stage too. Haha, maybe it sounds a bit woo-woo but it works! The voice will thank you as well :) Now that I think about it, I should also really define a few mantra lead phrases in my life. I try to live my life in a way that gives good karma and that empowers me, not holding on to.
