Hey Peach Guevara! We loved your latest single “Montreal”. In what ways has your experience living in Montreal and its environment influenced this song?

Well, when I wrote the song I had only been to Montreal once 5 years before for a music festival. Montreal was an idea in my head.

“Montreal” had soft instrumentation and delicate warm vocals! How would you describe your creative approach towards this song? Did you experiment with any new sounds or elements?

Writing Montreal helped open up my vocals. Before writing Montreal I didn't think that I could sing high notes. At the time of creating this song I really wanted to challenge that idea in my head.

Knowing you’re redefining your own version of Punk Rock, In what ways do you take inspiration from the genre and cultivate it into your own unique sound?

It's interesting because I don't write with the intention of sounding a certain way. Things just kind of come out and flow together. I will say where I do take inspiration from is the rawness and honesty. I really try to get out what I'm truly feeling, and I think that's what punk is about.

What’s the overall meaning behind “Montreal”? What inspired you to write this?

What inspired me to write it was after playing a show with a band from Montreal, while I was living in Victoria, British Columbia. I had always fantasized about at least staying in Montreal for a while, and hearing about living in the city as a musician sounded so romantic. In my mind I was envisioning this perfect la la land in Montreal, meanwhile, in reality, I had some pretty heavy commitments. This song was me processing what my next move was in life.

What can we expect to see from you throughout 2020?

I'm hoping that I can get an album out. There's a lot of upgrades happening with my sound right now. I'm trying not to put too much pressure on the process, but I'm really excited to share it once it's ready.
