Berlin-based producer Ralphy Grey joins forces with Orlando singer-songwriter Craymo on “Don’t Hold Back (Carpe Diem),” an uplifting dance-pop anthem built around a simple but timeless reminder: stop waiting for the perfect moment and start living. Released July 31 via ZYX Music, the collaboration connects two artists across continents through shimmering synths, driving basslines, and an unmistakable dose of ‘80s-inspired energy.

Written and produced by Grey with creative contributions from Craymo, the track was created entirely remotely between Berlin and Orlando. That distance is virtually invisible in the finished product. Grey's sleek electronic production gives the song its momentum, balancing retro synth-pop influences with a contemporary dance sheen, while Craymo brings warmth and personality to a chorus designed to stick.

Beneath its feel-good surface, “Don’t Hold Back (Carpe Diem)” is ultimately about transformation. The lyrics move away from uncertainty and self-doubt toward confidence and purpose, with its recurring “seize the day” message turning the track into something of a musical push forward. It's motivational without abandoning the escapism that makes a good dance record work in the first place.

The collaboration also arrives during a period of growing momentum for Grey, whose contemporary spin on ‘80s electronic pop has earned multiple No. 1 placements on international indie charts. Craymo brings an established background of his own, with music previously featured across television and independent film alongside international radio airplay.

Already nominated in the EDM and Dance categories at the 2026 Hollywood Independent Music Awards, the single has also secured nominations for Best Soundtrack Song and Best Soundtrack Recording at the 2026 Indie Music Channel Awards.

For Grey and Craymo, however, the takeaway remains refreshingly uncomplicated: find the joy in the music and remember the fun dance music can bring into our lives. “Don’t Hold Back (Carpe Diem)” delivers exactly that, turning its carpe diem philosophy into a bright, energetic invitation to get moving.

“DON’T HOLD BACK (CARPE DIEM)” was created entirely remotely between Berlin and Orlando. How did that distance shape the collaboration, and at what point did you realize your creative styles genuinely clicked? I had been following Ralphy Grey's Instagram account for many months, and I just loved watching him work in the studio and loved the dance music he was creating! I reached out to him, introduced myself, and complimented his work! I said I am a songwriter in the USA who writes 80's-influenced pop music and that I would love to collaborate with him on a track!

He said, "OK!" Listened to some of my music and then sent me the instrumental for Don't Hold Back! I instantly fell in love with the track and wrote the lyrics in about 30 minutes! I then went into a recording studio here and laid down the lead and background vocals and emailed the stems to Ralphy, and he put this amazing song together! We have this musical synergy between us; the distance didn't matter! It was a dream collaboration. I can't wait to work on the next song with him!

The track draws heavily from ‘80s dance-pop without feeling like a straight nostalgia piece. Ralphy, how do you decide which elements of that era to preserve and which ones need to be pushed somewhere new?

That's the magic of Ralphy and his sounds. He takes the best elements of the 80's era and weaves them into the perfect modern dance song!

At its core, the song is about moving beyond self-doubt and choosing to seize the moment. Was there a particular experience in either of your lives that made that message feel especially important to explore right now? I will be the first to admit it: I am a huge procrastinator! This song made me want to finish it right away and inspired me to seize the day and seize the moment. The song will have a lasting impact on me and both of us for sure.

Craymo, your music has consistently centered on hope, love, and positivity. What did you want your vocal performance to bring to “DON’T HOLD BACK (CARPE DIEM)” beyond the song’s already uplifting production? Thank you! I try to be a positive light in this world through music. I wanted to bring a Jimmy Somerville/Bronski Beat and Neil Tennant/Pet Shop Boys vibe to the vocals. I think it totally gives that.

The song has already picked up multiple award nominations across dance, EDM, and soundtrack categories. What does that early recognition mean to you, and where would you like to take this collaboration next?

That is truly amazing! We are very thankful that so many people have been inspired by this song and gained such industry recognition in such a short time!  We are definitely looking forward to our next collaboration, maybe a cover song, maybe another original, maybe both! Ralphy and I are becoming good friends!
