Raw Webb is an artist and producer from New Jersey whose the youngest of 6 siblings and was heavily influenced by the musical house parties his older brothers threw. The importance of the disc jockeys in these neighborhood parties inspired Webb to pursue DJing. Webb began DJing for over 15 years in mostly college and house parties in the tri-state area. After witnessing firsthand the shift from lyricism towards commercialism within hip hop, Webb transitioned into songwriting, producing, and rapping. This realization, coupled with the end of his sports career due to a car accident caused Webb to turn his focus to music.
Raw Webb released his single titled “Bully Bitches” and an artist with strategy, he released two different versions; the explicit and the radio edit. “Bully Bitches” has a crunk-like atmosphere, and the energy was HOT. This record had me moving with the beat and vibing alongside the song. “Bully Bitches” gets the listener hyped from the beginning to the end, there’s no energetic break in which you get a chance to become detached from the song, it’s just consistent. Webb shows that he studies the constant changes and waves in hip-hop from poetic lyrics to commercial like rap, and instead of picking one? He weaves between both styles. Webb killed it with “Bully Bitches” and we are now a new fan of his!

Hey Raw Webb! In what ways is your background in DJing incorporated into your music now?
I would say having an ear for what the new sound is. When I DJ’d you always had to be aware of what’s new and what’s trending. So I take that aspect and that’s how I figure out the sound for the next record. Whether it will an Atlanta inspired beat or an LA inspired beat. I listen to what’s out and run with it.
It’s really cool to hear the insight from a DJ! What was your favorite element in DJing a record and why!?
Favorite element DJ’n I would have to say being able to control the crowd. I loved mixing the record and seeing the reaction on people faces. It could be cutting a new record someone hasn’t heard before, or that summer time cookout jam everyone loves. The reactions are priceless and I think DJ’s around the world feel the same way.
Your song “Bully Bitches” was super dope! What was the vision behind it?
Vision behind bully bitches is really an anthem to take what is yours. Be a bully about achieving your goals and aspirations. Don’t letting nothing hold you back. If you worked hard for it, then you deserve it so go get it by any means. This applies to music and life. We sometime hold back on pushing the envelope. Whether it’s fear or not believing in yourself. Bully bitches is the anthem to motivate.
Usually artists had some sort of inspiration that encouraged them to write the specific record, so we must ask, what was the inspiration behind “Bully Bitches” ?
Inspiration to this track would be after seeing the success after my first single dropped “What U Hatin For”. It was produced by one of Germany top producers by the name of MP Beatz. MP has a huge following in Germany so when the record dropped Germany went crazy. I gained a lot of fans in Germany because of that and other countries as well. I knew from that reaction in Germany that I was doing the right thing. So I had to go all in, 10 toes down and push the envelope. So the energy going into the studio while creating bully bitches was we taking this year.. period. And doing so with only being on the radio for 4 days bully bitches climbed to the DRT independent charts and stayed there for 3 months. That was my first time making the independent charts in my career, but won’t be the last.
What’s next for you Raw Webb?
What’s next for Raw Webb, I will be dropping an summer mixtape. Going to get some crazy features for this one. Already confirmed is Instafamous comedian dq4equis. I have a clothing line with my business partner and brother Harlem Rose called Raw Roses Clothing, so expect to see some apparel for the summer. Also working on some other business ventures. Planning to open an recording studio in my hometown. Give the youth an real experience to create good music and get real promotion. Since I know how the industry works now it would only be right to teach the young aspiring artist what I know. I would say the sky is the limit for Raw Webb but I’ve already cracked the earth’s atmosphere
