The new Feral EP release from Memphis based Sunweight brandishes its own style of trashy garage rock. Clearly influenced by rock classics and even alternative rock of the early 2000s, the band crushes through the 5 track EP with unbeatable energy and massive sonic performance. Guitar hooks that smash through your brain and stick around. With a set of songs that all have a life on their own, the record starts off with the melodic and powerful "Silent + Sound". A song that has one of the most creative riffs on the EP. Some great changes and some heavier sounds lining its tone. Following that is "Birth", the band's single. "Birth" detonates straight from the get-go and swells down to a calm sway until it comes back hard again. A giant of a song, the only thing more fun is its video counterpart. Any fan of alternative or garage rock needs this EP like a punch to the gut, in a good way. A strong release from a fun band!
