Hailing from Los Angeles, California, F.Y.I. began his rap journey in the mid-2000s. The rapper first started unleashing his rhymes with the rap group, "Those Chosen," and after recording over 100 songs together, their success allowed F.Y.I to work alongside with some of the hip-hop elite, such as x Da Kid, Rich Kidd, T.H.X., Ras Kass, and Ab-Soul. These early experiences helped F.Y.I. build an audience and impart valuable industry and rap genre dexterities.

Now, as a solo artist, F.Y.I. describes his style as live music. "The culture of hip-hop is in music.
