Growing up in Michigan, Vega-Genesis had a tight relationship with his iPod nano which stemmed from his overwhelming passion for music. He went from recording voice memos on his iPod as a child to hit #11 on an iTunes Best Hip-Hop/Rap chart just 60 days after he moved to California. Vega-Genesis has collaborated with talented Hip-Hop artist nicky ros for his recent release “B.I.U.” As a short form for “back it up,” “B.I.U.” has a youthful beat and contagious energy that will hype Vega-Genesis’ audience after one listen.
As an almost comical introduction, “B. I. U.” holds true to its title by kicking off with the common beeping of a truck reversing – this sound makes a few more appearances throughout the song.
At a brisk 2 minutes and 50 seconds, Vega-Genesis is able to give us a quick sneak peek into his intriguing lifestyle. The production brings a sense of urgency with its lightweight and rapid beat. A catchy three-note melody is played in the background to compliment the electronic soundscape.
Both Vega-Genesis and Nicky Ros showcase their rapping talent with their alluring vocals. “B.I.U.” is an energy-enhancing, confidence-boosting track that almost guarantees a good time with just one listen. With quite a few pieces in the works, including another short album, Vega-Genesis is leaving fans on the edge of their seats as we await more Hip-Hop/Pop fusions.

Hello nicky, thank you for sitting down with us at BuzzMusic to discuss your latest collaboration with Vega-Genesis. We loved the contagious momentum and energy you both gave us in “B.I.U.” Can you tell us about the inspiration for this song?
Vega and I heard the beat and we started freestyling to it jokingly. Vega didn’t know I had the mic on and his verse came out so fire that we decided to finish the song and put it out.
Could you describe your collaboration with Vega for “B.I.U.” Did you write the entire song? Or, did you both collaborate at every step of the way?
Releasing all the music and collaborations I’ve worked on this year. I’m spending a lot more time on the marketing side of things and focusing on each song’s potential to reach more fans as possible. “Orlando” with Jeane Marie & Zacc P has been soaring and I want to carry that momentum into the rest of the music that I’m releasing this year. I have an acoustic EP that I’ll be dropping in October and an album coming 1st quarter of next year. keeps our songs interesting all the way through. We push each other in a friendly competition to see who can come up with the most clever punchlines. I’m also grateful that he’s become such a close friend in the time I’ve known him and that camaraderie comes through on the records.

So much of the energy surrounding 2020 has been negative and I believe it’s our job as artists to remind people of the beauty in the world, even at times when it might be difficult to find. I’ve learned so much this year and have been blessed with the opportunity to channel my experiences into music that will touch people emotionally and inspire them.
