The dreaminess, airiness and relaxed yet conflicted ambiance of the record creates a majestic escape for the listener.

Poetic lyrics like “I’m leaving now to a place where I won’t be found, noises so loud to a place where there is no sound” leaves the song’s meaning very open to interpretation.

Welcome to BuzzMusic Wendy Wang, and congratulations on your latest single, "Will You Miss Me." Please give us a small breakdown of the story embedded in this song?

"Will You Miss Me" is actually about asking the people I love if they will miss me if I leave this world. I wrote this song about two years ago when I was in a very dark place mentally. It's imagining what will happen after my death.

"Will You Miss Me" resonates with us on many different levels. Is there a specific message or feeling you were trying to get across?

I want to help those who are also going through a hard time feeling like they aren't the only ones. I wanted to share my own experience by telling my narrative or how I felt during that time.

You're only 20 years old, yet it sounds like you've been making music for much longer. When did your passion for music begin, and when did you start writing songs?

Since I was in elementary school, I've been in choir and have always loved singing. My parents also love to sing, and they always sang to me when I was little. When I got my first guitar at 13 years old, I first started writing songs. I started learning basic chords and singing covers and wrote a song. My first ever song was about Peter Pan, and it was called Neverland.

It's so cool that you've lived in both Beijing and California. Can you tell us about some of the key influences on your music that you pull from each place?

My music combines the melodic and nostalgic elements from Chinese Ballads with a unique Pop sound. My favorite artists are Billie Eilish, Lana Del Ray, and NIKI.

What's next for you?

I'm currently working on an EP that I hope to put out later this year. I've been writing more music and experimenting with different writing styles as well. "will u miss me" is a sneak peek into my new sound. It's quite different from my first two singles that I put out back in 2020; it sounds more mature but still has that dreamy and lullaby feel.
