Welcome to Buzz, Mama B! We are so impressed by your transition into children's music with your upcoming single, "Puffer Fish." What inspired you to make this artistic shift?

It has been an organic transition into children's music, and 'Puffer Fish' captures exactly what I hoped to achieve in this genre - kids' music that parents would also enjoy listening to! Once I had kids of my own, I started searching for music that not only resonated with my kids but resonated with me, after all I was the one having to listen to it on repeat! I couldn't find what I wanted to hear, so I created my own. My goal has always been to create something organic, contemporary, and could stand the test of time.

How has your experience in the music industry, as a songwriter, collaborator, and executive, prepared you to start making music as Mama B?

I feel like I have touched every part of the music industry at this point in my career, and every experience has fueled my creative process and desire to make evergreen music for families. I know some people advise me to 'pick a lane,' but honestly, I just loved too many parts of the music industry that I couldn't pick just one. I feel like my artistry makes me a better, more relatable executive, and my experience as an executive has instilled in me the importance of understanding my business as an artist.

Where do you find your inspiration for songs like "Puffer Fish?" How did you come across a theme and story like this?

I've always loved the song 'Coconut' by Harry Nilsson. The vibe and syncopation of the song make it infectious and relatable for any age group.  I wanted to make something with the same energy but specifically for kids. I also had this rap-like lyric idea for 'Puff Puff Puffer Fish' that would make my kids laugh anytime I sang it. Once we found the groove for "Puffer Fish," I knew this lyric idea was perfect for going on top of it. The song wrote itself from there!

What was your favorite part about creating and recording "Puffer Fish"? What did you enjoy the most?

I enjoyed working with my long-time friends and talented collaborators Marty MARO, Anders Mouridsen, and Connor Marks. All are decorated pop producers/songwriters who had never written in the children's space before, so it was so much fun diving into this genre together. We had so many laughs writing and recording this project together and feel so lucky to have them all be part of it.

Could you give readers a hint as to what they should expect from your upcoming album Imaginology this Mother's Day?

Modern children's songs ignite the imagination and create a magical experience for children and adults alike!
