- Dive Into Davey Squires’ Stimulating Stylings in New Album, “Radio Silence”
Carving his own path in the independent music scene is a unique singer-songwriter and classically-taught musician, Davey Squires, with a new 12-track album titled Radio Silence. There's no stopping the musical force that is Davey Squires. We've had the honor of featuring his tunes several times over the years, and we're constantly impressed by his ability to blend hard-hitting swing with a 21st-century crooner touch. With shows from New York to Montana and everywhere in between, Davey Squires is making his mark with tunes that leave a lasting impression. In his newest album, Radio Silence, Squires presents 12 new tracks, each brimming with their own unique emotions and stories that Squires has talentedly crafted. In the song's intro and title track, "Radio Silence," he brings listeners into this jazzy, sci-fi escapade where the radio's silence and shadows are your only friends—highlighting his impressive storytelling prowess and classical training in drums and vocals. The same energy floats into track number two, "Mellow," evoking more of a bouncy, bluesy feel with heavy piano melodies and the story of a weeping willow looking so "Mellow" questioning the earth around it. It's a thought-provoking track that guides us into "Let's Meet At The Station," a passionate, tongue-in-cheek song that highlights questionable scenarios and experiences, leading him back to the station with nothing but memories and more questions. Davey Squires turns up the passion in track four, "That's All I Want," an ode to improving oneself, progress, and inching closer to those dreams that roam the back of your mind. His passion is palpable, and any listener can appreciate his portrayal of life's complex experiences through impactful, universally resonant music. The same can be said about track five, "Apologies," a tender ballad that sees Squires confess his love for someone special and apologize for his past mistakes in order to start anew. In the album's sixth track, "Before The Rain," Davey Squires ramps up the energy and charisma with a witty, uplifting piano-laden tune bursting with good vibes and introspection: wishing to seize the day before the rain comes crashing down. In the album's second half, we're greeted with track seven, "Listen," a dreary, melancholy, compelling song that sees Squires calling on a soul to hear him out, understand him, and see who he is inside and out. Increasing the groove is track number eight, "Little Moon," offering a more whimsical and theatrical listening experience with Squires' talented storytelling, metaphors, and catchy melodies with a dynamic energy that's impossible to ignore. In track nine, "Blank Wall," we're met with another highly dynamic tune where Davey Squires soaks in the shadows of someone else's lies, leading to an incredibly stimulating instrumental breakdown to perfectly showcase those rollercoaster emotions and thoughts deep within. The energy continues in track ten, "My Leave," offering a jazzy swing vibe alongside theatrical chord progressions and vocals, telling a story of tumultuous love and finally surrendering to who he's supposed to be. And that's a realization that anyone can appreciate. In track eleven, "Fade," Davey Squires introduces a 6-minute adventure that sees him toying with the idea of fading away, only to make a stunning instrumental revival in the outro that leads us to the song's final track. In song 12, "Mourning The Loss Of My Mind," we enter what might be the most personal track on the album. Davey Squires explores themes of darkness and illusions alongside haunting instrumentals to close the album on a profound note of introspection, mystery, beauty, and trudging through life's tribulations in hopes of a brighter day. It doesn't get much better than raw musical talent and in-depth storytelling that piques curiosity. Experience that and much more in Davey Squires' recent 12-track album, Radio Silence, now available on all digital streaming platforms. Instagram

- Bae Baracus Digs Deep ‘Lost Touch’
‘Lost Touch’ is the latest video from Canadian West Coast trio Bae Baracus and the lead track from their upcoming full-length album ‘Release,’ which drops May 31 on Boomsmack Records. Diving deeper in their post-punk sensibilities, 'Lost Touch’ is about not feeling yourself anymore, about feeling dead inside. It's a bit of a hymn, a dirge dedicated to a life that was once vibrant but has been crushed by anxiety and emotional pain. But dirges help us express grief, and expressing grief eventually helps us develop a new outlook, and that optimism can be felt in the undertones of the song. As the world descends into a singularity, and we become more interconnected, we become less connected to ourselves. Lost Touch is about snapping back into our own minds, from the virtual dream. Powered by Lin Gardiner’s considerable arrangement and production chops, Clef Seeley’s skilled multi-instrumental playfulness, and lead singer Dolly De Guerre’s jaggedly lyrical sensibilities, the Bae Baracus sound taps into the 21st-century zeitgeist and channels its with the timelessness of their unashamed sparkle. While retaining some of that undeniable sparkle across many of the tracks, their 2024 album ‘Release’ is intentionally darker than their previous records. ‘Release’ explores the double-edged themes of liberation and the ennui that accompanies it. Like a 3 am coffee, the album’s mood is both energetic and angst-ridden. Filled with nocturnal post-punk dance, it abandons all hope of sleep and embraces the night. Bae Baracus's album 'Release' is available on all streaming platforms via Boomsmack Records now. Instagram Facebook

- Eyeglasses: A Staple in Music Chic
In music, an artist’s style is crucial to their image as a performer. When you think of Elvis, KISS, or Michael Jackson, you can easily visualize their signature looks. Fascinatingly, scientific literature finds that musicianship and perceptions of sound-related aspects of performances are heavily influenced by visual cues. How a musician looks and moves onstage can enhance auditory cues, such as rhythmic accuracy, tone quality, intensity and emotion, expressiveness, and the audience's emotional responses. When it comes to style, no accessory is as much of a staple as the eyeglasses. Easy, distinct, and striking, they enhance even the most understated outfits. Here are some of the chicest artists who’ve rocked them. Buddy Holly Buddy Holly has significantly influenced many legendary artists, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan. But it wasn’t just his music that made a mark—it was his unique eyewear, too. In fact, Elton John has credited Holly with being his inspiration to wear spectacles at age thirteen. Buddy Holly is perhaps the reason why glasses aren’t considered uncool or nerdy in the music industry today, with fresh new debuts like Winnetka Bowling League lighting a passionate fire in the scene while still rocking Holly's trendy glasses look. Holly wore glasses to deal with severe nearsightedness, thereby birthing the classic “Buddy Holly glasses," which remain go-to frames for wearers today. The Ray-Ban Wayfarer is a testament to this legacy. The bold, black frame and angular rims have withstood the test of time and remain a trendy staple among celebrities. If you’re looking for a classic and classy flair inspired by Buddy Holly, then these might be the perfect frames for you. John Lennon It’s challenging to think of anyone with whom we associate round glasses more than John Lennon. One of the four members of the legendary Beatles, Lennon reinvented rock and pop as a songwriter, singer, performer, and activist. Today, conjuring an image of the icon will most likely come with the stylish round glasses that he sported from his moptop days to his solo career. But his signature look was also functional, as Lennon was legally blind and needed prescription glasses to deal with nearsightedness. Today, you can easily copy the look by browsing through a large selection of glasses available on the web. LensCrafters’ Versace glasses are perfect for replicating the style that Lennon often turned to, with its metal rim and rounded edges—reminiscent of the vintage charm, with a modern flair that suits a versatile range of styles. Taking the cue from Lennon, these glasses can be paired with vividly colored and patterned clothes to subdued and casual outfits, all of which he rocked throughout his prolific career. Bono Bono is one of the most resonant musicians to have come out of the 1980s. Having won 22 Grammys and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the U2 member is just as well-known for his music as his activism. Another thing that stands out? Bono’s signature wraparound tinted glasses. However, aside from style, Bono wears them out of necessity due to glaucoma, a condition caused by damage to the optic nerve. Tinted glasses are widely used by glaucoma patients, who may be more sensitive to glare. Because of this, they are encouraged to wear glasses with side shields or UV-protective tints. And because Bono is always under stage lights or camera flashes, he wears wraparound glasses that protect him from all angles. You can easily find eyewear similar to his among the selections provided by Oakley, a brand known for its high-quality sports sunglasses designed for optimal protection. In particular, the Oakley Fuel Cell offers a statement wraparound style similar to those rocked by Bono onstage. Distinct and sharp, Bono's look remains one of the most impactful in music history. Style is a significant aspect of a musician’s legacy. These three rockstars exemplify how lasting eyeglasses have been in music chic over the decades.

- Best Practices For Guitar Maintenance: How Tuning Fits In
The guitar is an instrument that has no boundaries and is accepted by people of all genres all over the world, from the mind-blowing high-pitched solos of rock icons to the soulful low-pitched strums of acoustic ballads. Yet, amidst the allure of its harmonious melodies lies a crucial aspect often overlooked by many players: maintenance. Tuning a guitar is the foundation of the entire care routine. The guitar should be maintained in tune for its integrity and musical potency. This manual focuses on guitar maintenance by stressing the crucial role that tuning plays in the life of your precious instrument. Harmony In Maintenance: Understanding the Essence of Tuning Guitar tuning is one of the most important aspects, although it is often neglected by many guitarists. But although it looks simple, this is a fundamental element, which is the foundation of every sweet note. A good guitar tuner is a loyal friend to you, ensuring that all the strings are in tune as they ring out in perfect harmony. Preserving the Strings: The Key to Prolonged Lifespan Strings, your guitar's lifeline, are under constant tension and stress when you play. The absence of regular tuning can cause these critical parts to wear out, and their sounds start deteriorating. Optimal tuning prevents the strings from unnecessary strain, which increases their life and keeps their tone rich for many performances. Striking a Balance: Mitigating Neck Tension Your guitar’s neck is the backbone of your guitar, providing stability and determining how it plays. However, the equilibrium of tension and relaxation is easily disturbed by the lack of correct tuning. If the strings are allowed to wander, the neck becomes the victim of their discord, causing fretboards to warp and the resonance to weaken. Following a regular tuning routine will remove the unnecessary tension from the neck and, hence, will increase its life span and preserve playability. Synchronizing Sound: Enhancing Musical Precision In the world of music, accuracy is everything, every note is evidence of your commitment and talent. A well-tuned guitar is your loyal friend in this endeavour, its melodious vibration enhancing the quality of your performance. When each string is carefully tuned, you open up a whole world of musical opportunities, where every chord sounds perfect, and every melody is crystal clear. Elevating Performance: Unleashing the True Potential In the field of music, your instrument is the extension of your artistry, the means through which your imagination can be conveyed. However, no matter how skilled your hands are, a neglected guitar will still not be able to produce good sound even with the most skilled hands. Through the practice of tuning, you are giving yourself the opportunity to effectively release the full power of your instrument, to dismantle the obstacles, and to bring life into your musical creations. The Rhythm of Maintenance: Cultivating Consistency In the realm of guitar maintenance, consistency is the name of the game. Each tuning session is a manifestation of your dedication to perfection. Similar to how a great performance is achieved through many hours of practice, the lifespan of your instrument is earned through deliberate attention and care. Embrace tuning as a regular part of your musical practice, and see how your guitar is always there for you, giving you complete confidence and superior sound. In guitar care, the tuning part is a melody itself, a lovely refrain that can be heard in each chord and each note. When you are beginning your musical adventure, remember the importance of taking care of your instrument and making the tune-up your guiding star. When you tune each string with the highest precision, you unleash a world of musical possibilities, where your talent and enthusiasm know no boundaries. Therefore, take your guitar, tune it finely, and let the music run through you to new levels of self-expression and artistry.

As her star continues to burn ever brighter, this NYC songstress is someone you’ll want to keep on your radar. Raised in the tumultuous landscape of White Plains, NY, amidst the shadows of a tense household environment, Monique found solace in the power of performance. From a young age, she embraced the role of the house entertainer, using dance and song to illuminate the darkness surrounding her. Monique's journey has been anything but straightforward, from skipping school for auditions to navigating the cutthroat world of Midtown Manhattan at just seventeen. She refuses to let her artistic fires be dimmed, though, and we’re so excited to see what she has in store for us next. There’s something special about artists who feel like they speak from the heart on every release. “Run Back,” Monique’s latest offering, sees the NYC songstress do just this as she grapples with the complexities of a toxic romance. Dropping bars like “Shouldn’t have let you back into my life” and “I know it’s a mistake each time I do, it’s sad, but it’s true / I run back to you,” Monique finds herself between her emotions. It’s a delicate subject and incredibly nuanced, but Monique’s lyrics and soft yet incredibly emotive vocals do it justice. As she continues to shine even brighter, Sabrina Monique’s latest release, “Run Back,” invites listeners to embark on a roller-coaster of emotions as Monique plays tug-of-war with her heart. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Monique’s latest release, “Run Back,” on all majour streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Sabrina Monique! We loved “Run Back," we had to ask! What was the inspiration behind this release? Could you take us through the creative process for it? The entirety of the album “It’s not me, it’s You” tells the story of toxic love cycles in relationships between friends, lovers, family, etc.… Run Back highlights the highs and lows and the unfortunate reality of the cat-and-mouse unrequited love pattern. I found myself in the game of chase for many years, and that cyclical pattern presented itself in various relationships. Unfortunately, human beings tend to be creatures of habit. I found myself falling back into old patterns whenever I felt alone. As much as I do not want to admit that, as it goes against my entire “fuck it and fuck you” mentality, the -hard truth and reality is sometimes you allow yourself to be put in the line of fire, and that’s on you. As the song says, “It’s a mistake each time I do…it’s sad, but it’s true, I run back to you.” I realized I was only hurting myself by continuing to allow certain behaviors. What’s your favorite part of the creative process for your releases, and why? My favorite part of the creative process is when the song is released! All jokes aside, there is so much excitement and work that goes into the release beforehand that the most exciting part for me is when people finally get to hear it, and all the work I’ve done beforehand is tangible to me. I love to write for myself to heal and connect to others, so there is great enjoyment when other people can enjoy it themselves and hopefully relate to the song. What characteristic do you think is most important for an artist to have? The most important thing an artist should be is genuine and authentic. What I’ve learned in the past few years of writing and releasing music is that it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t matter to you and is not true to who you are as an artist. Many people will have ideas of what you should do, who you should be, and how you should sound, but I think those days are OVER! People respond to authenticity, honesty, and vulnerability. Be an artist rooted in truth. As generic as it sounds, the most important thing you can do is just to be yourself in this industry and do what you think is best for your artistry and music. What do you want your listeners to feel when they hear your music? I like to write about experiences that may not have been the happiest, uplifting, or joy to help me heal. I often disguise these lyrics and text behind an upbeat pop sound because I want to rejoice, knowing I’ve worked through the pain. I never want to be held back by past experiences, but I would rather turn my hardships into something I can therapeutically dance through, and I hope that translates to my listeners, for I want them to feel connected when they hear my music and feel like they can celebrate even the hardships of life. What’s next for Sabrina Monique? You have an upcoming album called “It’s Not Me, It’s You” slated for release soon, right? Could you tell us a little about that? The entirety of the album “It’s not me, it’s You” tells the story of toxic love cycles in relationships between friends, lovers, family, etc.… this album is me taking my power back. Each song and story is me contesting the trauma I’ve endured, rejecting the emotional, unhealed baggage I took on for other people, hoping to make them happy while making myself miserable. I would search for love and acceptance in all the wrong people/places, enduring pain and crosses that were not mine to bear. For years I found myself in a state of depletion and unhappiness giving so much energy, joy, and love to relationships/situations that were undeserving going down dry wells enduring emotional and mental abuse. In a Constant state of questioning my worth and worthiness to be loved I realized- I was always enough. I was never the problem. It was not me; it was you. Instagram Facebook
