"Don't Let Anyone Put You Down" With Athena Kennedy

Thank you for this interview today. What have you been up to lately?

I have been working on a new song called ‘EDEN’ that will be coming out early next year! I also have been working on a new Christmas song that’s coming out soon!

What's a good rule you've learned about your industry?

Follow your gut and don't let anyone put you down. I love the music industry but it's full of pricks and I have dealt with my fair share. It’s almost like a right of passage, but it's still annoying; especially being a woman. 

Any hobbies you would like to pick up?

I want to learn how to blow glass! I have dabbled in it but I’d like to explore it some more.

When do you feel most creative? 

When I am gut-wrenchingly sad. I make my best music with heartbreak.

One thing most people would be surprised to learn about you?

I’m honestly a pretty open book. But if I had to say anything, it’s that I’m a bookworm. I love reading and I wish I had the time to do more of it for pleasure.
