Playing hockey at a high level until the age of 17, music was his outlet during hard times but was also his drive to become a professional hockey player when working on his dream. Welcome to BuzzMusic, RENN, and congratulations on the release of your latest single, "Broken Heart." We love everything about this song. With a song title and concept that plays into emotions, we all know too well what moment inspired your drive to create "Broken Heart?"
"Broken Heart" is inspired by some moments that I've personally been through in the past. When falling in love with someone that you deeply feel a connection with, but in the end, one of the two ends up cheating on the other. It's a really harsh thing to do on someone, and that can leave a scar for a very long time.
What was it like working with the vocal talents of Mynxy? How did this collaboration come to be?
Morgan is an amazing artist to work with. I heard about MYNXY from a friend of mine who lives in Vancouver. They had a song together, and when I heard Morgan's voice for the first time on their record, I immediately knew that she would be the perfect fit for the vision that I had for the song.
In terms of the vision you set out bringing life to "Broken Heart," do you find it's being received how you intended it to be?
I think it's a song that a lot of people can relate to. I actually received a few messages from people saying that the song reminded them of some past experiences that they've been through. It means a lot to me because it shows that I actually made a real impact on some people, and it has been well received so far. Feels great to know that people relate to it as much as I do.
What main message would you like your audience to take away from this song?
My intention behind this song is for the people who've been through a hard situation like the one described in the song; you are not alone. We're all human beings and we're all going through similar situations in our life. Having a broken heart is one of the hardest situations that anyone can go through and I want people to feel that they aren't the only ones who've been through that. Where they can reach out to others, talk about it and help each other in order to get over it because life goes on.
What's next for you?
I have a lot of new music coming up in the next few months and live shows with brand new visuals that I can't wait to present! This is some stuff that I've been working on for so long that I'm really excited to finally be able to show it to the public!
