Welcome to BUZZ, The Real Corey J! We're thrilled to have you here chatting about your latest single, "Bend Da Curb." Can you please share the inspiration or story behind the track's title and its significance to you?
Thank you for having me, The inspiration came from me just wanting to cut a hot track, I didn’t even know the title would be “Bend Da Curb” it just formed itself. The meaning behind it is to push the hustle, if you gotta goal to reach then you need to Bend Da Curb and get to it.
How do you typically collaborate with producers, and what role does the production process play in bringing your vision to life? How did Birddie contribute to the vibe you aimed to give off with "Bend Da Curb?"
I haven’t had the moments to sit and create with a producer, I find the beats on YouTube and beat stars and go from there. The production process is everything, without it you have microwave material and that’s not what I aim for. Birddie brings the Florida bop type vibes that I haven’t heard in awhile so that stuck with me, definitely plan to work with him more.
How do you navigate different hip-hop styles, and do you have a favorite style or vibe that you particularly enjoy?
I go with the motion of the ocean ya know, I aim to make the music people enjoy, whether it’s rap or more melodic rap with a R&B vibe but still rap. Making Music for me is like the way seasons change, when it’s time to make a change I adjust to the times, and when I’m in a certain mood I create to match so it could be different at any time.
The lyrics of "Bend Da Curb" touch on authenticity and charisma. How do you ensure that your music remains true to your personality, and what messages do you hope listeners take away from your tracks?
I live the life I live, and it’s hard to come up with anything other than my life experiences. I want my listeners to know that I’m here witcha, through the good, bad & ugly cuz I had to go through it, Grind like everyday ya last cuz it’s no telling when it could be over, don’t chase your dreams, Live’em.
"You Don't Grind, You Don't Eat" is a powerful mantra. How has this philosophy shaped your work ethic and approach to your music career?
It became a part of my everyday life, not just in music. I had to do Everything I felt was necessary to keep going, the music is my life it only stops when I Do, and I have no plans on stopping.
