Welcome to BuzzMusic, Viv.! We adore the heart and passion you place into your latest single, "Not A Fool." With such personal lyrics, is there a moment or story that inspired this song?

There is a story behind the lyrics. I was dating a guy I wasn't really into, but I fell hard after a short time of dating. He went home to visit family & stopped texting/calling me as much. I knew something was up, but he reassured me nothing was wrong. A week later, he said we had to "talk." My heart knew it was over, but I hoped it wasn't. He broke my heart for another girl but said, "It's not you; it's me." Blah blah blah, lol I got over him eventually. A few months later, I started talking to someone else & that's when the first guy said he'd been thinking about what he did & how he was sorry. He said he wanted a second chance. Not going to lie; I was tempted, but I remembered he broke my heart once for another girl, so why wouldn't he do it again? That's how Not A Fool was born! What can you tell us about the team that helped bring "Not A Fool" to life? What was the creative process like?

The team was terrific! I co-wrote this with Marty Lamain. I told him I had an idea for a new song in one of our sessions. I originally had a different version of Not A Fool, but after Marty asked me what I wanted my audience to get from the song, he helped me get the message across more powerfully. Ryan Lau was the producer of this song. He took this & made it the best version it could ever be!! It started much slower, but we both felt it needed to be upbeat. I told him my vision for this song was to empower others who had been dumped & wanted back, to say no.

With this being your third studio single released, what have you noticed about yourself as an artist from your debut to now?

Whoa! That's an excellent question. I feel like I can write & sing with more honesty.

What message would you like your audience to take away from a ballad like "Not A Fool?"

I definitely want my audience to feel empowered to say, "No, I'm not going back to the person who broke my heart." I also want them to feel like that's ok. They don't have to settle with the person who broke their heart.

What's next for you?

I am super excited for the next song that will be releasing this fall!!! Production on songs for 2024 are beginning this month! One of my personal goals would be to start playing shows in the local area.
