Yoko Gold Explores Reality And Illusions In "Mirage"

How do you stay hungry, keep motivated, and maintain your focus when your debut is widely acclaimed and recognized?

Although these situations may sound far-fetched, Yoko Gold finds himself in this predicament. Hailing from Toronto, Gold has wasted no time since his debut performances on Tory Lanez's “Collection” and “Hurts Me” ft. Trippie Red.

His recent single, “Limbo,” independently reached over 100k+ in the first month of its release, and Gold has dispelled all doubts about his artistry.

With temptations, judgments, lies, and betrayal around every corner, we often find ourselves asking questions about our existence. Why am I here? What's my purpose? Is there more to this reality? At times, life can feel like one big game. A "Mirage," if you will.

"Life has turned into one big script with social cues. 'Mirage' is my observation of society with no conclusion other than... this life is just a 'Mirage.'”

- Yoko Gold

Yoko Gold doesn't stick to one genre. His versatile sound can intrigue fans of hip-hop, R&B, electronic, alternative, and just about anyone with taste. But what's truly impressive is his impact. His ability to inspire makes him well-respected amongst today's new artists, releasing music that embodies positivity, creativity, and longevity. And his sophomore single "Mirage" is no exception.

"The simplest things are all I want," he softly sings, emphasizing his endless pursuit of life's blessings. But, along the way, he realizes that life is just a "Mirage," and we all play a role in this play. From neighbors and co-workers to love interests — our interactions are predictable. And Yoko Gold's observation of society certainly provides food for thought.

The song itself is stunning. The ethereal production and instrumentation provide glimpses of various genres, soaking the speakers with drips of R&B, waves of electronic, and a tsunami of Yoko Gold's soothing vocals.

The chilling combination of melodic synths and smooth acoustic guitar layered over sweet R&B drums is food for the soul. Not to mention the subtle twittering of birds in the background, pulling us back down to reality one note at a time.

Treat yourself to a sonic escape from reality with Yoko Gold's sophomore single, "Mirage," now available on all digital streaming platforms.

We deeply admire your observation of society in "Mirage." What inspired you to explore the theme of reality and illusions? I’m obsessed with The Book of Enoch. The fallen angels and history say a lot about who we are. "Mirage" emerged from my pursuit of knowledge and search for the truth.

During your pursuit of life's blessings, as mentioned in "Mirage," have you learned any valuable lessons along the way? What's impacted you most on this journey?

I’m still learning, to be honest, but I have learned that the simplest things in life are free, and the complicated stuff costs a lot of time and money.

The production and instrumentation in "Mirage" are heavenly. Can you walk us through your creative process and how you wanted the song to sound?

When 905luka and I get into the studio, it’s anything goes. Try it is our model. Most of the time, the music will tell you what it wants. You just have to listen and be obedient to the spirit.

Your lyrics in "Mirage" definitely provide food for thought. What do you hope listeners take away and reflect on? What do you hope they apply to their own lives?

This life is coming and going. What you do on earth echoes in the afterlife. Stand for what you believe in. Don’t waver. Life is just a Mirage.

In the broader scheme of things, how do you want your music to impact listeners? How does "Mirage" fit into that mission?

Yoko Gold stands for positivity, creativity, and longevity. With every song, I hope to communicate these three words to anyone who is willing to listen. My mission is simple. Give people hope through my pursuit of happiness and the things I have learned along the way.

What’s next for Yoko Gold?
