I love the look and smell of dandelions, even though they’re technically weeds, which some people can’t stand. That contrast is fascinating: they’re beautiful, but biologically, they’re still weeds. It’s a lot like relationships. Sometimes, we’re drawn to things—or people—that seem beautiful on the surface, but deep down, there are red flags we just can’t ignore. That push and pull of love, pain, and growth is what the song is all about. You co-wrote the song with Kendall Savage, and the dynamic between your voices feels incredibly intimate. How did the two of you work together to craft the song's narrative, and what was the vibe like during that creative session? Kendall and I are best friends, so collaborating was something that just had to happen eventually. She’s got an amazing voice and is also talented on guitar, and with my background in music, it felt like a no-brainer. One day, we decided to hang out with the sole purpose of writing a song together—no plan, no ideas, just seeing what would happen. In about an hour, everything started clicking. Kendall’s brain was firing off lyrics faster than mine while I focused on melody and instrumentation. It was the perfect balance, and honestly, we had so much fun bringing the song to life. The dynamic you hear in the track really reflects how naturally it all came together. Can you share a bit about how "Dandelion" fits into the larger theme of the album? Funny enough, the idea for Flowers didn’t come until after "Dandelion" was written. Once that song was done, I thought, “There are so many flowers with symbolic meanings tied to real experiences I’ve dealt with.” Plus, I love flowers—they’re beautiful, meaningful, and fun to explore creatively. On a deeper level, this album is also about solidifying my identity as an artist. Since I started releasing music as "Kolbe," I’ve experimented with different sounds and genres. But for Flowers , I wanted to focus on a cohesive sound—self-produced, simple instrumentals featuring piano, guitar, saxophone, and other instruments I’ve picked up over the years, blending indie pop and folk. This is my first full-length album, and it’s my way of planting roots, showing who I am and what I want to be known for. You've mentioned that "Dandelion" is for people who have experienced toxic relationships. With that in mind, what do you hope listeners take away from this song? I hope Dandelion feels like a moment of recognition for anyone who’s been in a toxic relationship. It felt good to me to share the simple gift of working in the garden, an experience that I delight in visually. This summer, I was lucky to be staying on a farm I love dearly, and I thought it would be fun to make a music video there!  "The Garden" video feels so authentic to your roots. Was it shot on your childhood farm, and how did that influence the overall feel of the video? The video was shot on a farm called Adamah, a small market farm and a fellowship program for young Jewish adults to learn how agriculture and ancient Jewish spirituality are connected. I was an "Adamah fellow" ten years ago, tending the land there and learning about my cultural heritage, and it was a life-changing experience! That was also my first time living and working on a farm in my adult life since the mountain homestead of my childhood. And like my childhood, we did a lot of singing there too!  Though the farm is different, in some ways, from the place that inspired the song, the video still captured the richness of what it's like to be surrounded by beauty in nature connected to the seasons. And the video also portrayed the preciousness of working closely with the earth, with your hands and your efforts.  The lyrics in "The Garden" paint a beautifully vivid picture. How closely did you work with the video director to ensure the visuals matched your vision for the song? My only vision for this video was that I would, at some point in the film, be shoveling the compost. On this farm, they have massive compost piles and are iconic to the community! I wanted to do farm work in this video, and the best thing I could think to do was... shovel. And there's nothing more satisfying than dipping a shovel blade into finely decomposed, fresh, warm dirt! Witnessing the chickens running around the whole time, surrounding me from all directions, added to the fun. I spent a lot of time chasing the chickens to catch one, slipping on that compost mound, and never catching one until right before we wrapped the shoot! I made a music video for the album single "The Swan," which came out before the album's release on September 6th. How do you hope sharing your personal struggles with depression and autism will impact listeners who might be going through similar challenges? I hope it gives people the courage that if I can, they can too. Perseverance and consistency are how I became better and overcame my challenges. I didn’t think about it that deep when I said that line. The line I got problems she can’t see is just based on my experience of dealing with relationships where I wasn’t only focused on my happiness but also the happiness of my partner.  As an independent artist who’s conquered iTunes charts and earned a spot on Billboard, how have your personal obstacles shaped your journey in the music industry, and what lessons have you taken from those experiences? My personal obstacles made my journey long but very rewarding in just ways I can’t explain. Just the people and the places I’ve been, and with money or without, it’s always been an experience where not only am I discovering more about the world and the industry but also discovering more about myself.  Overall, I’d say I’ve learned a lot but some of the most important lessons that I deal with daily are: nothing is free in life. Even if we are talking about something that is financially “free,” it could still cost you in many other ways that can be more costly . Take everything personal; often times I used to think losing that opportunity, getting shorted on a paycheck or even going into a venue and being inconvenienced by a Dj who lost your music or mixed up your playlist all were common mistakes. No, take it personally because you have to hold everyone around you to the same standard you hold yourself to. Be humble and understanding, but take it personally and correct people instead of letting them slide.  Don’t expect love when you can’t show people how much you love not only your craft but where you started from embrace it. People want to know the story more than the music, so you have to embrace that part of the journey. “C’est La Vie” carries a strong message about learning from life’s lessons and mastering them. Can you share an example of a lesson you’ve mastered through your music and how it has influenced your growth as an artist? I’m constantly learning something new, but my best lessons are persistence and perseverance. You need that in life to get to where you wanna be in any art craft or skill position. Your live performances are known for their energy and passion. How do you translate the deeply introspective themes of a track like “C’est La Vie” into an experience that connects with an audience in a live setting? I just enjoy myself and have fun, but I make people a part of the “show,” whether through crowd interaction or slowing people to repeat my lyrics in the mic. It’s just a part of having fun for me.

We all need relief after an exhausting day at work, and one of the best ways to recharge is by listening to something that brings your energy back. Actually, I didn’t care much about creating balance because I know people can be too slow to get the message sometimes. Facing self-criticism and mean comments isn’t easy, but it’s not something to be taken too seriously. If someone says you’re not successful enough, maybe they’re so bored with their own failures that they need someone else to feel the same way. Or if you’re not as rich as someone they know?
