Feel the rhythm and good vibes of Wreck's new single, "Malignant Lover," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Wreck! Your new single, "Malignant Lover," is incredibly groovy. Can you share what inspired this personal yet danceable tune? Hey guys, thanks so much for having me on! Lover originally started as a challenge to myself, a challenge to make something super fun and groovy, which would undeniably expand my sound. I instantly fell in love with this track and it was all I worked on for nearly a month! I’m super happy with the way it turned out and I’m sure everyone who listens will love it as well. Your lyrics in "Malignant Lover" are quite relatable. Can you talk about your songwriting process for this track and what message you wanted to get across? Some people may not agree with this, but I believe a great song starts with a bassline that defines its character. I love starting this way because it gets me jamming and in the mindset to create right from the jump! From there, it's mostly downhill, focusing on making good musical decisions and choosing sounds that work well together. I try not to overthink my lyrics too much once I’m in a zone and just allow my voice to be another instrument in the mix. Your music has a distinct blend of old-school funk and modern R&B. How do you balance these influences to create your unique sound, especially for "Malignant Lover"? I’m inspired by a number of artists and life experiences. Because of that, I think these musical elements have become a part of who I am over time, and they tend to flow out of me. My dad exposed me to lots of old-school funk staples. Parliament, The Bee Gees, Bootsy Collins, etc. And like most kids, R&B found its way into my heart and I was hooked. I try to let the best of these elements shine through my music, especially in my production. Can you describe the mood or atmosphere you aimed to capture in the clean production for "Malignant Lover"? Fun was the name of the game with this track from the very beginning. When working with Kevin “MasterMind” Wilson, who directed the music video for Malignant Lover, there was a huge focus on making sure we delivered the track in a way that people could enjoy over and over again. I think we definitely achieved that goal!  What do you hope listene rs feel after hearing "Malignant Lover"? How do you want the song to impact them? When you really dig into the lyrics of the song, you realize that its message applies to so many situations and life experiences. Overall, I just want people to know that even when life doesn't seem to be going your way, there’s always time to have a little fun and maybe even bust a move!

  • Tony Newbury Unpacks His New Release “Route 9”

Welcome to Buzz, Tony Newbury! We loved “Route 9;” that was a dope way to introduce your “No More Cigarettes” project. We wanted to ask, what made you decide to open “No More Cigarettes” with this track? Sup, yo! I feel like my song ROUTE 9 really puts you in the seat of the artist in the album. It’s like every event starts off with being in the car, driving around to get after it. Feeling tired heading somewhere after work and getting home at 3 a.m., it’s supposed to get you ready to grind. What was the inspiration behind this release? The past year or two of my life has been pretty hectic. I’ve had to walk away from some people I truly love. I’ve also met some pretty awesome people in my life. NO MORE CIGARETTES is an album for anyone trying to take care of themselves to chase their dreams at full potential. I used to smoke a lot, too, so my boy Jake Nash told me to name the album because he wanted me to stop smoking. What was your first vision for your “No More Cigarettes” project, and what was your favorite part of bringing the vision for this project to life? I didn’t really have a concrete vision, to be honest. I was initially going to make a tape called White Jazz. When I hit my producer, Poetic Junior, that’s what I told him. Then, I spent a month just cranking out songs in my mom's basement last summer. That’s how I got the last five of seven tracks on the tape. I made about 30 songs. But I needed to pick my favorite, which tells the story the universe was pulling out of me. What’s been your favorite part of your music journey so far? My favorite part has been having people tell me I inspire them. That allows me to know I’m properly using the gift God gave me, and I'm trying to keep doing that. What’s next for Tony Newbury, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans? I have a new album starting to roll out in August. It’s called FOREVER GOOD. Other than that. Just keep going, baby! Forever. Read more about Route 9. Instagram Facebook

  • Porter Block’s Got The Good Vibes Flowing On Their New Release “Groove Goin’ On”

Can you feel this energy? Having been active in the scene for decades, there’s very little NYC-based outfit Porter Block hasn’t seen or done themselves. Having released nine well-acclaimed studio albums over their musical journey, their ability to consistently deliver captivating releases and projects has earned them a loyal following of admiring fans. With the release of their ninth studio album, “Sometimes Sunshine” once again proving that they more than have what it takes to take your breath away, we hope Porter Block will continue their legendary run for a long time. Although they’ve covered many sounds thus far on their prolific run, Porter Block’s latest sonic endeavor is no less impressive. It’s the culmination of the years and years of painstaking work and effort they’ve put into their music, brought to life by brilliant artistic vision and skill. Made in collaboration with legendary songwriter and artist Andy Paley (Jonathan Jerry Lee Lewis), this partnership has breathed even more new life into Porter Block’s sound, keeping their releases fresh and us on the edge of our seats. In a way that’s fitting and more than a little poetic, Porter Block’s new release “Groove Goin’ On” is a smooth, enticing affair that beckons you to the dancefloor with its groovy beats. The instrumental performance feels very surf-rock in a nostalgic way, especially when paired with the imagery of frontman Peter Block and his beautiful female companion driving top down around the town. Paley’s touch is evident, adding a layer of polish that maximizes the potential of the band’s “pocket symphony” and Peter Block’s spunky vocals, elevating the track to new levels. NYC-based rock stalwarts Porter Block continue to show that even after their ninth studio album, they’re getting better and better. Whenever you’re ready to hit the dancefloor, tap in and stream Porter Block’s new release, “Groove Goin’ On”, now on all majour streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Porter Block! We loved “Groove Goin’ On.” Your sound felt so nostalgic but also fresh! We wanted to ask you about this release's creative process. What inspired you? The inspiration for “Groove goin’on” came from our co-writer Andy Paley, who liked the nostalgic nature of its meaning. It feels like an instant attraction between two people, a magnetic connection that sounds very 1960’s. The chorus feels very California sunshine pop, so we added harmonies to the spoken verses. What inspired you to take that initial step to pursue music seriously, and what motivates you to make music now? My musical inspiration came when I was 6 or 7 years old. It started with The Beatles, and although I listen to everything, both old and new, it’s the creative act of writing a song that still draws my attention and glee. Song craft is something I revere, and I am endlessly engaged in trying to write better and more satisfying pop songs. What’s your fondest music-related memory as a group? My fondest musical memory is making some of our early records in studios in New York City that no longer exist. Caleb once managed the biggest studio in New York, and we would often book time at various places to write and record. There’s something about working in a place where others have made iconic recordings that gets the juices flowing. What do you want your fans to feel when they hear your music? I want our listeners to feel satisfied with our songs. Each is a journey or leap of faith into storytelling and musical expression. It should just feel good, and hopefully, there will be enough musical objects and events to keep ears interested and tuned into the vibe and story. What’s next for Porter Block, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans? To our fans—the few and the proud….like the Marines, thanks for listening and taking the time to play our songs. I hope you enjoy it because we sure do love writing and producing records. Music can be so powerful, particularly today when there is so much distracting our collective attention. We try to make it like a 3-minute fever dream—something you can return to that doesn’t fail to excite or engage your heart and consciousness. Thanks for listening! Instagram

  • Notché’s Back on His Grind on His New Release “Back 2 Business”

The talented artist continues to reach greater heights in the face of adversity. Notché’s journey in the ever-shifting landscape of the music industry has been a testament to resilience and reinvention. Although a malicious attack on his Instagram account led to losing all the music he’d painstakingly curated, he would not let this or anything else keep him down. Instead, Notché used it as a catalyst for transformation. His forced hiatus became a deep introspection and rediscovery period, leading him to new heights and appreciation for his craft. Notché’s journey of introspection would, importantly, lead him back to the vibrant cultural landscapes of Africa. There, he immersed himself in the continent's rich tapestry of rhythmic beats and traditions and found the inspiration to start again. Armed with the courage, skill, and inspiration to craft powerful new musical narratives, Notché would return to work again. In June 2023, his soul-searching journey culminated in the release of his single “Sentiment,” marking a triumphant return to the music scene. Harmonious, groovy, and captivating, Notché’s latest release, “Back 2 Business,” feels like so much more than a regular release, even with the high standard he’s held for himself. “Back 2 Business” sees Notché continue to reach even higher artistic heights in the face of adversity. The instrumentals are slightly slow but incredibly groovy, utilizing elements of amapiano and afrobeats to bring an irresistible bassline. Notché’s understated vocal performance melds perfectly with these instrumentals, making “Back 2 Business" an incredibly alluring release that feels like it’s inviting you to loosen up and hit the dance floor. As he re-establishs his presence in the global music scene, Notché continues to show that his early and recent successes were no fluke. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Notché’s latest release, “Back 2 Business,” on all majour streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Notché! We loved “Back 2 Business,” and we have to say, you really haven’t missed a beat since your return! We had to ask, what’s it been like to make music again after you consistently got hacked, and what was your favorite part of making this release? Initially, I had no desire to record again. I felt utterly defeated after being hacked and losing everything when my hard drive crashed. I stepped away from it all, thinking I was done. But then, something stirred within me—God had other plans. I decided to invest in brand-new equipment and get back to work. Releasing new music feels like reintroducing myself to the world and bringing my passion back to life. What inspired you to take that initial step to seriously pursue music, and what motivates you to make music now? Initially, I had no desire to record again. I felt utterly defeated after being hacked and losing everything when my hard drive crashed. I stepped away from it all, thinking I was done. But then, something stirred within me—God had other plans. I decided to invest in brand-new equipment and get back to work. Now, releasing new music feels like reintroducing myself to the world and bringing my passion back to life. What went through your brain when you realized you had lost your music, and how did it feel when you finally returned with “Sentiment?" Losing my music felt like losing a part of myself. But in hindsight, I don't think it would have had the same impact back then as it does today. "Sentiment" is a track I created at my parents' house, and it became my way of introducing a new sound to the world. Do you have any advice for any listeners who might be trying to follow in your footsteps? Keep God, stay focused, and stay creative! Your new single with James Downham, "Another Round," is incredibly vibrant and fun. Can you share what inspired this high-energy track? Absolutely! "Another Round" is pure, unfiltered energy – the tune that makes you want to roll down the windows, blast it on a road trip, or belt it out with friends after a few drinks. The inspiration comes from that magnetic kind of love that’s impossible to resist. We’ve all been there – drawn back to someone like a moth to a flame, even though you know it might burn. It’s intoxicating, irresistible, and just plain fun, precisely what we wanted to capture. It’s intoxicating to feel that way, so writing about going ‘another round’ with someone you just can’t get enough of made sense. How was it collaborating with James Downham again for "Another Round"? What did he bring to the table this time around? Working with James is always a blast. We both deeply love those big, sweeping melodies and tight harmonies that pull at your heartstrings. Our producer, Matt Koebel, helped us bring that vision to life, creating something nostalgic and fresh. We draw from various influences, from Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash to modern acts like Lady A and Little Big Town. Front Porch Music said,"’ Another Round’ echoes the sound of Lady A with its heartfelt lyrics and soulful harmonies.” Whether it's our first duet, "We’re Okay," or "Another Round," there’s always that anthemic chorus paired with storytelling that feels so true to who we are as artists. "Another Round" has a vivacious feel, perfect for summer. Can you talk about the process of capturing that mood in the studio? The energy in the studio was electric. James and I thrive off each other’s creativity and were on fire recording this track. We also just released the music video, which was a whole new level of fun! We shot it at The Bunker Performance Lounge in Stratford, Ontario, with Roadhouse Productions, which really captures the song's spirit. We’ve been recording more music this summer and can’t wait to share it. If you want to see us in action, check out the video. What was your favorite part about creating "Another Round"? Which part of the process did you enjoy most? Every part of bringing "Another Round" to life was a joy, but sharing it with fans was something special. We took a sneak peek at the Country Music Association of Ontario After Party in June, and it was a rush to see the crowd’s reaction. We even had a little adventure taking the cover photos for the single – we snuck into The Keg that weekend for some impromptu shots, which was a lot of fun! Instagra m Facebook

Sometimes, all it takes is a frank conversation to create something truly special. Born during a period of profound personal challenges, “This Hill” was created by artists Paul Ryan and Lindsey Ann after a deep backyard conversation under the stars. As they touched on life’s existential questions and more, the formation of “This Hill” became more and more certain, eventually becoming the current project we know and love. • Kick Off Your Night Out With L2B's New Single, "DUMBFOUNDED"

Stepping out of the shadows and into the spotlight, rapper and versatile recording artist L2B unleashes his latest single, "DUMBFOUNDED," adding yet another chapter to his dynamic musical story that began in New Haven, Connecticut. L2B first made waves in 2009 with his debut mixtape The Elm City Assassin  and has since carved out a niche with a style that melds introspective rhymes with hard-hitting beats. His unique blend of modern hip-hop and various elements of other genres makes him an artist to watch today and beyond. Known for his thought-provoking content that makes listeners think twice, L2B captured hearts with hits like “Kush (Remix)” and “Memories (Remix)," and now continues his journey with "DUMBFOUNDED," the newest groovy single that's ready to keep the good vibes rolling all summer long. Diving deeper into "DUMBFOUNDED," the ultra-groovy, insanely catchy song gives listeners a vivid glimpse into L2B’s psyche during a night out overshadowed by a whirlwind of emotions. Starting with a haunting instrumental that sets a mysterious yet sultry mood, the song quickly dives into L2B's internal monologue, narrated with a blend of raw energy and storytelling. The lyrics convey a deep sense of isolation amidst a crowd, coupled with a surge of 'drunken courage' and a craving for something more. "DUMBFOUNDED" not only showcases L2B's lyrical prowess but also his ability to connect with listeners through universal themes of loneliness and the search for meaning. It's a track that promises to resonate, inviting fans old and new into the complex world of an artist who refuses to be anything but himself. Dive into the depths of L2B's reflective new single, "DUMBFOUNDED," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Your new single, "DUMBFOUNDED," pulls listeners right into a night filled with intense feelings. What inspired you to open up about such personal experiences in this track? It felt relatable. To feel out of place and irritated with fake people who smile in your face. To deal with people who want too much from you to the point you’re fed up. To show off, to shine your light correctly. To do things people don’t expect of you. To leave them all dumbfounded and in awe of you in the end. Can you walk us through the creative process for "DUMBFOUNDED"? Did you work alongside any producers to bring your vision to life? The song is produced by Anywaywell, who painted a vibrant picture with just the beat. I write almost daily, and I write each verse separately before even hearing the beat, but the hook and melody come instantly after the first listen. Then, I fit the verses in like Tetris and structured the writing a bit more to match the drum pattern. "DUMBFOUNDED" paints a vivid picture of feeling alone in a crowd. What sort of experiences or situations did you want to get across in your lyrics? I’m a little jaded because I’ve wasted time trying to build real connections with fake people. The ones who are always around for the parties but never really there for you. Some are friends, some are family, some are partners. I think most people know these types and can relate to wanting to get away from them. Maybe that’s the message of it all: Do your own thing. What was your favorite part about creating "DUMBFOUNDED"? What part of the process did you enjoy most? My favorite part was writing and recording. Once you get into a groove, and you’re just flying, whether it’s the wordplay coming in and flowing naturally, or when your voice cracks a little, or you capture a tone or melody that wasn’t planned. It’s all a magical and beautiful process, and I love it. What do you hope listeners take away from "DUMBFOUNDED"? What did you want them to think and feel after listening? I hope listeners can escape for a little bit. I’d love for them to just enjoy the ride and laugh or relate to the stories, and feel dumbfounded after, in a happy way.
