  • Yxl Ayo’s Latest Single, “Easy” Dives Into Loves Many Complexities

YXL Ayo's latest single, 'Easy,' produced by the renowned Super Beats (known for collaborations with Skeete and IAMDDB), takes listeners on a soulful journey through the complexities of modern love and desire within the Alté and Afro-R&B realm. Originally from the serene landscapes of Lincolnshire, YXL Ayo infuses his music with influences drawn from his Nigerian heritage. His artistic journey is defined by a commitment to crafting music that authentically resonates with audiences, blending cultural influences with personal storytelling. In 'Easy,' YXL Ayo effortlessly blends the intricate textures of Alté with the smooth, emotive vibes of R&B. The track unfolds a narrative where a woman seeks solace from a troubled past, turning to our protagonist for redemption. Yet, YXL Ayo's introspective lyrics cut deep, questioning her true intentions with the piercing refrain, “Tell me why you want me to save you.” Super Beats' production on 'Easy' creates a deliberately stripped-down soundscape, allowing YXL Ayo's introspective storytelling and soul-stirring vocals to resonate. This artistic choice not only amplifies the song's emotional weight but also prompts listeners to ponder the nuances of romantic pursuit and the quest for genuine connection. 'Easy' marks a pivotal moment for YXL Ayo, cementing his place in the Alté and Afro-R&B scenes. With its compelling fusion of genres and heartfelt narrative, the single promises to captivate audiences and further establish YXL Ayo as a distinctive voice in contemporary music. Instagram

Join Pep Rally's lunar dance party with "Clubbing On The Moon (Staring At The Sun)," now streaming on all digital platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Pep Rally! We're over the moon for your new single, "Clubbing On The Moon." What inspired you to write about an exhilarating night out? Hi! Thanks for having us! The inspiration for "Clubbing On The Moon?" well... We like to party, hahaha! That's true, AND I always wanted to write a song that had "it's alright" in the chorus, so we started thinking about stressful situations remedied by someone saying, "It's alright." And of course, we thought of "partying," which is stressful because what might make YOUR party can be the same thing that is SOMEONE ELSE'S trigger-point, you know? All-nighters frequently contain fights and other un-fun stuff, which is, I think, why we celebrate it when we make it home, and staying out WAS fun. We might go out to celebrate some good news or a life event, but it can feel rare when the celebration is fun. We made it home in one piece, AND it was fun. HUGE WIN. So inevitably, during a night out, a friend must say something calming to another friend. And it makes such a huge difference, hearing someone say, "It's alright," and maybe stroking their hand or hair. It makes it alright. It's a song about that. How does your experience in the Philly music scene influence your songwriting for tracks like "Clubbing On The Moon?" Oh my god, I don't think the song would exist without Philly. EVERYONE plays Philly, and there is always a show to go to. It's hard to get sleep! So when we sing, "You only live once, so sleeping can wait," we really mean it. The interplay between Tommy and Emily's vocals in "Clubbing On The Moon" adds an engaging, immersive aspect to the song. How did that dynamic develop? To be honest, it took some time. We were rehearsing and gigging for a little bit, but we weren't sure how to record our vocals. We tried going one at a time, but it didn't sound right, you know? Then, when we hit on doing it on one mic at the same time, suddenly, the sound of our vocals changed. I think the sound waves get more excited, then Emily and I get more excited, and then YOU get more excited. Can you tell us about the process of directing and shooting the music video for "Clubbing On The Moon?" What was your vision for bringing the song to life visually? We're big fans of 80's new wave like Talking Heads and Devo, and that sound is mutated because there are only 2 of us making ALL the music; so we wanted to show what performing this sonically rich music looks like just as we make it. We are also big fans of Pomplamoose - they really cracked the code for the "what you see is what you hear" kind of video, and we were very inspired by them. We had my studio (MilkBoy the Studio) for about 5 hours and didn't know what song we would do because we had a couple ready to go. But when we started playing "Clubbing On The Moon," we realized that we didn't have lights, so Emily called a friend who brought lights. Then we found a disco ball at the studio, and our friends tied it to a mic stand. We got into a tremendous collaborative groove, making the video energetic and exciting. When it was time for us to leave, we'd only played "Clubbing On The Moon"! (cracking up), but that was good because we played it enough times to really unpack the nuances in the song, the feeling of the lyrics, and the bridge especially. What was your favorite part about creating "Clubbing On The Moon (Staring At The Sun)?" What did you enjoy most about the process? Rehearsing it and hearing the idea become an actual song is indescribable. Seriously, when we are both singing and the harmonies get going, it feels like my heart will pop out of my chest. I've never bungee jumped, but I feel the excitement is like that. Instagram Facebook

"Can't Get Enough" has such a timeless yet modern feel that you can't shake it. It takes over the soul. What inspired you to create such a passionate track? When I wrote CGE, I had just moved to LA and was in a space where I knew it was all or nothing, and I wanted it all. The same way those guitar riffs hit out of nowhere, leaving you wanting more, that was the exact feeling I had for the women I was dating at that time. Working with Rocki Laurenc must have been an amazing experience. How did his production influence the final sound of "Can't Get Enough," and do you feel like there were valuable lessons along the way of this collaboration? Working with Rocki is always a vibe! He understands me, my craft, and my sound, so I definitely trust him to take things to the next level. It's quite apparent that the song narrates the turning point of a romance. Can you please share more about the personal experiences or stories that inspired these lyrics? What do you hope your audience grasps from this? Can’t get enough to express the stage of infatuation as it grows into something greater. I’ve had more than a few situations where my biggest high was a person. The most recent time it happened, it really had me in that space where I couldn’t tell exactly what was going on, but I knew when we were together, it just felt right!! This speaks to the power we have as people. We can really make someone feel full with the smallest of gestures. Your music blends classic R&B influences that weaves in the contemporary. How do your artistic influences help mold your sound and approach to songwriting? I have such a wide range of influences. However, the commonality between them all is innovation. Like Usher, for example, he has stood the test of time mostly because he has studied and paid homage to all of his influences while still adding his signature. I have taken the same approach!! It has been important to encompass and pay homage to the skill of those who have influenced me to be where I am while adding that Khadi Lee finish! When you hear a Khadi Lee record, you’ll always hear my heart because it is my truest form. Looking ahead, what can fans expect from you shortly? This song is incredibly easy to listen to—subtly groovy and heavily atmospheric, showcasing Clarel's knack for creating incredibly dynamic, rhythm-heavy tunes. Zach Zoya's smooth and catchy verse is the cherry on top. Landing on the EP's midway point with track three, "23 SPECIAL," Clerel ramps up the jazzy atmosphere with chilling instrumentation alongside his compelling, poetic lyrics, which quickly transition into a full-blown tropical groove. The sweet bass licks paired with the gentle saxophone make this song irresistible, not to mention Clerel's attention-commanding performance, showcasing all the wit, passion, and honesty we can ask for. Experience the vibrant world of Clerel's new EP, Kaleidoscope , now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Clerel! We love the rich sounds and emotions of your new EP, Kaleidoscope. What inspired you to create such a diverse project?  The inspiration for Kaleidoscope came from living life the last few years. The diverse experiences and connections I've made. Touring different parts of the world, meeting various artists, and exploring new genres all influenced the sound and feel of this EP.   I wanted to capture the range of emotions I've felt—from joy and love to anxiety and introspection—and present them in a way that feels cohesive yet varied, much like the changing patterns of a kaleidoscope.  How does collaborating with different artists influence your creative process, particularly with Zack Zoya and others in Kaleidoscope? Collaborating with different artists is about giving a new energy and perspective to my music… Zach brought a zest to "Lemon Water" that really made the song click. Each collaboration challenges me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new styles and techniques; this is also true of collaborating with producers and musicians. The process of mutual influence is an integral part of my growth as a creative. Can you tell us about the meaning behind the EP's title, Kaleidoscope? What does it represent? The title Kaleidoscope represents the multifaceted nature of human emotions and experiences. Just as a kaleidoscope creates beautiful, ever-changing patterns from different shapes and colors, this EP explores a variety of feelings and moments from my life. It symbolizes how our emotions and experiences, though diverse and sometimes contrasting, come together to form a unique and vibrant whole. Which track on the Kaleidoscope EP was the most challenging to create, and why?  "23 Special" was the most challenging track to create. It started as a simple voice and guitar demo, but evolved through numerous stages of production and collaboration. The process involved collecting contributions from various musicians, reworking sections, and finding the right balance between organic and electronic sounds. The challenge was to make sure each element felt intentional and cohesive while preserving the song's emotional core. That said, it was also the most fun to make! What do you hope listeners take away and experience with "Kaleidoscope" as a whole?  On a physical level, I want the music to feel good and to be listened to. I believe that’s what music is really for, and that was a primary focus while working on the project. I hope listeners feel a sense of connection and understanding when they listen to Kaleidoscope. The EP is meant to uplift and remind people that they're not alone in their struggles or their joys. I want it to inspire positivity, self-love, and resilience. Ultimately, I hope it provides a comforting and enriching experience, making listeners feel seen and understood and encouraging them to embrace the beauty in their own kaleidoscope of emotions. • Flipping The Script For "Cryin’ In A Bar”

Ashley Barron Releases a Twisted Tale, Shaking Up the Country-Rock Scene. She has shared the stage with some of country music’s best, including opening for the legendary T. Graham Brown, Dylan Scott, Maddie & Tae, Tyler Farr,  and Craig Campbell.  As a rising artist Ashley Barron  takes a bold step away from traditional heartbreak and redefines the narratives in her new single, “Cryin' In A Bar.” Steering clear of the typical love story plot, this song flips the script on challenging the notion that a broken heart comes from surprising strength rather than “Crying In A Bar.” The song, co-written by Ashley and acclaimed songwriter  Pete Sallis,  is a testament to their combined storytelling prowess. Pete, known for his work with artists like Ronnie Dunn, Maddie & Tae, Bucky Covington, and the multi-platinum hit “Shut Up and Fish,” brings his signature touch to “Cryin' In A Bar.” Ashley says, “When we wrote this song, I was very much overwriting your typical love story. ‘Cryin' In A Bar’ is a twist. When you feel like your heart should be broken, but in reality, you’re okay!”  “Cryin' In A Bar” is the second single to follow the first titled  "Betrayed,”  which was released earlier this year with placements in  Cowgirl Magazine, The Women of Country,  and featured as a cover story three-page spread on Poze Magazine. It served as the opening move, setting the stage for a journey of overcoming personal challenges where every song is a strategic move and the ultimate victory is found within herself. Ashley adds, “The production on this song is hands down one of my favorites. I remember being in the studio trying to feel the rhythm, so I started doing the waltz in front of my vocal mic.”  Whether playing in an intimate venue or on a large festival stage, Ashley commands the attention of the audience, leaving a lasting mark. Her concerts are a dynamic blend of country and rock, infused with a sense of authenticity and grit drawn from her personal experiences.  As a touring artist, Ashley recently headlined her show at the National Scleroderma Walk in Napa County, CA, a foundation close to her heart as she was selected to be their celebrity ambassador. She is also set to perform at the Platteville Fire Department Celebration on June 22, 2024, in Platteville, WI; the Winneshiek County Fair in Decorah, IA, with Joe Nichols  on July 12, 2024; and the Dallas County, Iowa, with Craig Morgan  on July 13, 2024.
