- Lossed Grapples With Painful Thoughts On His New Release, “Dark Nights”
It’s always darkest before dawn. Emerging from the small town of Grants, New Mexico, Lossed (born Juan DeVargas) is rapidly making a name for himself in the rap world. Drawing inspiration from icons like Eminem, Logic, and Kendrick Lamar, Lossed has cultivated a sound that is as bold as it is sincere. His journey into music began at 16, sparked by a high school talent show performance that ignited his passion for songwriting and performing. Since then, he’s been on a mission, releasing mixtapes “Problems” and “Thinking Too Much/Feeling Too Little” to positive acclaim. Growing up in a turbulent household, Lossed turned to music as an outlet, driven by a desire to create a better world for kids who might find solace in lyrics and beats like him. This mission has become the core of his artistic identity, with his introspective and meaningful releases forging connections with listeners that run deeper than the surface. Lossed’s latest album, “555” (released earlier this month), was his most personal work yet, helping his music resonate once again with younger audiences who are looking for a voice that understands their struggles. Lossed’s latest release, “Dark Nights,” sees the talented MC do what he does best: look inward. Make no mistake, many thoughts race through Lossed’s head on “Dark Nights,” but his pondering yet resolute vocals leave no doubt that he’ll find light on the other side. Utilizing honest and unglamorous lyrics like “I get it, get it, you’re motivated / to get out my life” shows that life isn’t always great; it’s often a struggle. It’s okay to doubt; it’s okay to feel low. Everyone has their darkness, but Lossed is here to show you you’re not alone. Despite his growing success, Lossed remains grounded, connecting with listeners through honest and sincere releases. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Lossed’s latest release, “Dark Nights,” on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Lossed! We loved “Dark Nights,” we knew we had to ask! How much did your personal experiences help inspire this release? Something you’ve always been clear about is your desire to really speak from as authentic a place as possible, right? My personal experience is encapsulated in the album, from the heartbreaks to the dark aesthetic of the tracks and everything else in between. My life is put into all my music, and you can become enveloped in my life by listening very closely to my music. Also, yes, my authenticity is very apparent by the way I say what’s on my mind and never sugar-coat my experiences. What do you think is the most important quality for a musician to have? Perseverance and imagination are both equally important when it comes to being a musician. Perseverance allows an artist to see their work manifest into its true form from its early mediocre stage to its pinnacle quality. Imagination allows a musician to tell their story in a way that is unique to them and makes their story more interesting. What was your favorite part of bringing your vision for your new album “555” to life? My favorite part of making 555 was allowing myself to become isolated in the studio and pour my heart into a song that had both meaningful lyrics and a beautiful beat. Do you have any advice for any listeners who might be trying to follow in your footsteps? My advice for future artists is “never give up on yourself”. You are the only person who can make your dream a reality. So make it happen by any means necessary. What’s next for Lossed, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans? What I'd like to say to my fans is, “Thank you for listening, and this is only the beginning of a very exciting story to be told.” I am still going to be putting out music in the coming months, and I’m never going to quit making music. Cheers to 555 for connecting all of us together. Instagram Facebook
- D. Bird Unleashes Raw Emotion In New EP, "The Heartbreak Kid"
Hip-hop artist D. Bird is quickly on the rise, recently making waves with a powerhouse 6-track EP titled The Heartbreak Kid. David Birdsall, better known as D. Bird, is an emerging hip-hop artist and co-founder of the White Collar Rhymes collective. Originally from Ferndale, Washington, D. Bird’s journey into music started early, with influences from hip-hop greats like Eminem and Atmosphere shaping his lyrical prowess. His debut EP, The Heartbreak Kid, is a prime example of that. In the intro track, "Everything I Had," it's clear that D. Bird isn't holding anything back. It's a breakup tune, but a powerful one thanks to his raw honesty and ultra-personal bars that make for a deeply immersive listening experience. The old-school drums paired with the modern synths keep the vibes high while D. Bird confesses giving this person everything—even questioning whether that was enough. In "Beautiful," D. Bird shifts gears, delivering a more introspective vibe that dives into the complexities of young, foolish love. The track’s smooth, laid-back beats offer the perfect backdrop for his diary-esque bars. It's an incredibly emotional listening experience, creating a powerful atmosphere with sweet, catchy melodies that linger long after the song ends. Track three, "Wants VS Needs," brings a sharper edge as D. Bird wrestles with the internal conflict between desires and necessities. The track is powered by a pulsating beat with crisp drums that leave us nodding our heads. His flow is relentless, and the overall concept of stripping questions down the core basics is wildly refreshing. It’s a high-energy track that's sure to smoke your speakers. The next song, "Forbidden Fruit," takes listeners on a transcendent, slightly-psychedelic journey through temptation and consequence. The beat has a sweet, jazzy quality that hits us right in the feels. But this is where D. Bird’s storytelling shines—diving into his relatable experiences of hoping "the bite won't come after the bark." In "Toxic," D. Bird throws lyrical punches with the harsh realities of a relationship gone wrong. The beat is gritty and raw, with deep piano chords and a dark melody that leaves us in a sweat—perfectly matching the intensity of D. Bird’s bars. It's a powerful reminder of the emotional toll that toxic relationships can take, and D. Bird doesn’t shy away from exposing the scars. That brings us to the sixth and outro track, "Long Way Down," featuring Kyl Jameson. This slow, grooving, high-vibe song closes the EP on a high note with heaps of introspection and stunning instrumentals. Kyl's soothing R&B vocals soothe the soul, while D. Bird's bars continue to peel back layers of his relatable reality. It's a killer outro track that's sure to make its way to the top of your playlist. Hear it yourself. Find D. - Break Free With FreeChains And Become “Triumphant”
FreeChains' latest remix, "Triumphant," is nothing short of an adrenaline rush in the realm of hip-hop. Quick to pack a punch and leave you feeling unstoppable, FreeChains has cracked an inspirational code. Remixing Rick Ros s' single " Triumphant " was no easy feat, but FreeChains makes it look effortless, infusing the track with his signature style and undeniable energy. From the moment the beat drops, it's impossible not to be hooked. The production, courtesy of the talented Anno Domini, is sharp and dynamic, providing the perfect backdrop for FreeChains' powerful verses. This declaration of freedom and resilience has FreeChains boasting swift cadences and a crisp delivery that makes every line hit hard, leaving no doubt that this 21-year-old rapper from Stratford, Connecticut, is a force to be reckoned with. What sets "Triumphant" apart is the raw emotion and authenticity that FreeChains brings to the table. He doesn’t just rap about overcoming obstacles; he lives it, and you can hear that in every word he professes. His verses are packed with prophetic lyricism that gives you a peek into his life and the relentless drive that fuels his journey. It’s about breaking free from limitations and proving that nothing can hold you back. "Triumphant" is a glimpse into the unwavering mindset of FreeChains. He delivers an anthem for anyone who's ever felt like the underdog, showing that with faith, perseverance, and a hunger for success, you, too, can rise above anything. Welcome to Buzz, FreeChains! "Triumphant" is an incredibly powerful remix and gives your audience a personal taste of your life and artistry. What inspired you to take on Rick Ross' track and put your own spin on it? Thanks for having me back. Triumphant is actually my song that added Rick Ross to the remix. Adding Rick Ross to the remix felt like a perfect fit because he's one of my favorite artists to hear as a feature. His voice and presence in a song give it a feeling of confidence and power that not many other artists can. The biggest example is Richer Than I Ever Been and the production behind that project. So, if I was going to remix a song that's about being on top of the world, Rick Ross was the perfect fit for it. The production of "Triumphant" is captivating. How did your collaboration with Anno Domini come about, and what was the creative process like? I had definitely done plenty of songs with Anno Domini before this and was happy to collaborate with him again. At the time, this was going to be a part of a two-song pack called The Return that would include Ain't Goin (the 4th song off of my album Dreams) and the original Triumphant. The goal of this song was to create this aura-filled return that felt like winning a championship game. I had a few other options for beats, but when I heard this one with the trumpets and the epic piano sample (not to mention how the build-up alone could get anyone excited), I couldn't wait to get on this beat. Saying things like "With no people I can call and the odds against you gotta ball" and "Thirsty for clicks while I'm sipping from my glass," the song gives a feeling of success and accomplishment. You've described yourself as a "legend in the making." What does success look like to you, and how do you plan to leave your mark on the industry? My image of success is having my music bring authenticity back into the forefront of hip hop. I make it very clear that I am not a drug dealer, criminal, or anything of that nature. Yet people believe, "If I'm not like this, then I can't rap." "I'm from the suburbs, so I don't have a story to tell." If I can be one of the focal points to allow others to share a different story, to be proud of what they are, and to break the boundaries of what others say they can't be, then I've succeeded and made my mark on the industry. I consider myself a "legend in the making" because I see my potential but understand that I have a long way to go before claiming that spot as a difference-maker in the genre. "Triumphant" feels like an anthem for underdogs. Who are some artists or individuals who have inspired you to keep pushing forward in your own journey? I wouldn't say "pushing forward in my own journey" is the right phrase for it. Rather, these artists helped me evolve my sound into what it is today. A few would be Kendrick Lamar and how open his heart and mind are to his music. His recent album Mr Morale and The Big Steppers and even 6:16 in LA were included in his recent beef with Drake. I have to admit that battle was one of the things that kept me invigorated and excited about rap music. Two other examples are Lil Wayne and J Cole. These two have some of the most competitive pens in modern-day hip-hop. Their penmanship and how layered their rhymes are is something that never ceases to amaze me. Looking ahead, what can fans expect from FreeChains in the future? Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations we should be excited about? I can't lie to you. Right now has been a very big transitional period for me. With my recent graduation from college and my Class Dismissed EP to celebrate (which is on streaming platforms right now) I have been in the midst of asking myself "what's next" and where do I want to take this music. So, as of this moment, I don't know. It's crazy to say, but it's the truth. That doesn't mean I have nothing else to release. I have been honing my craft for as much time as I'm allowed to. So when I know what's next, trust me. You will know. Instagram

They wish you the best, though, sweetheart. With their ferocious, eclectic signature rock style, Atlanta-based quartet Pistols At Dawn have rapidly made a name for themselves with their captivating releases. Continuing their recent hot streak, their latest single, “Not Sorry,” is a masterclass in holding opposing forces in tension and synthesizing them into something entirely new. Pistols At Dawn have always stood apart in the hard rock scene, and with this track, they continue to do so, further perfecting the sound they’ve been cultivating over the past two years. One thing that’s separated Pistols At Dawn from their peers is their ability to be versatile and vulnerable without feeling too melodramatic. Equally as at home coining pop melodies or being confessional and forthright like folksingers, for example, Pistol At Dawn’s ability to switch gears as the release demands has led to unique and compelling releases. They aren’t afraid to experiment either, and this yearning, this desire to be better, has led to the talented band’s star rising in recent times. Pistol At Dawn’s latest release, “Not Sorry,” is a scalding, uncompromising anthem that impressively manages to be both ferocious and delicate, sometimes within the same breath. The instrumental performance features verses anchored by high-string bass grooves, instantly iconic lead guitar performance, and other samples and sinister electronic effects. When delivered with lyrics like “Really hate this side of you / crazy toxic attitude / I hope that shit works out for you Cause I'm not sorry,” you get an incredibly immersive release that we can’t get enough of. Pistol At Dawn’s latest release, “Not Sorry,” is a scathing, powerful rejection of flawed love that still manages to have nuance in a way that love should. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Pistol At Dawn’s latest release, “Not Sorry,” out now on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Pistols At Dawn! We loved your release, “Not Sorry,” what a powerful song! We wanted to ask what the inspiration behind this release was. Thank you so much for having us! Not Sorry was inspired by previous relationships, both romantic and otherwise. The people who suck the energy out of you and who need all the attention to be on them to thrive. The ones who make you question why you put yourself through spending even a fraction of a second dealing with them. This song is an anthem for anyone who has ever dealt with that. Because as you're grooving and singing along, you can look them in the eye and tell ‘em you're not sorry, but they will be! You guys dropped an accompanying music video for “Not Sorry” on YouTube, right? What was your favorite part of the creative process for bringing your vision to life? We love every single part of the creative process, from thinking of a storyboard to choosing locations. Thankfully, we have a great team and a creative director who helps reign it all in. For Not Sorry specifically, the rain shots were probably the most fun to film. While filming, we have the best time hyping each other up, helping with wardrobe choices, and with our crazy shenanigans on set. What inspired you to take that initial step to start pursuing music seriously, and what motivates you to make music now? What initially made the spark is probably different for all of us, but one thing is for sure: None of us can see ourselves doing anything else. For us, pursuing and creating music is as important as breathing. We can’t live without it. And while recording this album, touring, and performing together, these have been the most fulfilling times of our lives. If your fans could take one thing away from your music, what would you want it to be? Remember to live and make memories. No one can control you or put you in one mold. Work hard for your dreams, and if people try to bring you down, walk away. Music has many interpretations; whatever meaning resonates with you for our music is the meaning you should go with. Our upcoming songs touch on a lot of different vibes, but they have a part of each of our creative souls, and they are all Pistols at Dawn. What’s next for Pistols At Dawn, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans? We’re about to tour Europe and the UK with Des Rocs starting September 21-Octobher 13! Even before that, we have shows in Atlanta on September 14 and New York on September 17. We also have something very cool coming up on September 20 that we’ve been teasing. Our fans can look forward to new music and a lot of cool news from Pistols at Dawn in the upcoming months. Instagram Facebook

The song's music video puts it into action, showing viewers just what they'll face if they cross the line. Raivon Don'tez is the "Final Boss." This song has all the cut-throat energy we'd expect from the final level of a video game—frantic, hellish, and seeking a way out. It's just an example. Find Raivon Dontez's adrenaline-packed track "Final Boss" on all digital platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Raivon! "Final Boss" has such an intense energy. What was your inspiration behind creating this track? Thank you for having me BuzzMusic. The inspiration behind Final Boss actually came from the world of video games, specifically the video game known as Doom. When I was writing this song, I knew that I wanted to convey that same chaotic energy that is associated with that game. And the beat alone added that energy that I was looking for. Your sound often blends metal, punk, and hip-hop, as heard in "Final Boss." How did you develop this unique fusion of genres over the years? My fusion of Hip Hop, Punk, and metal all stem from the release of my second Project Titled Wanna Play Vol.2: The Reboot. From there, I just kept going, and it also challenged me as an artist in the process. As someone who grew up listening to all three genres, combining all three to develop my sound just felt the most authentic to me. And I still feel that way to this day. By doing that, I created a lane for myself. The music video for "Final Boss" has an incredibly powerful aesthetic. Can you tell us about the creative process behind the visuals? As a huge fan of horror films, dark anime, survival horror video games, etc, I knew that when it came to the final boss visual, I wanted to have that high drama and slightly frightening aesthetic. That would have my viewers intrigued and captivated. And when it came to the overall look and movements, I pulled a lot of inspiration from Hellraiser and WWE's Bray Wyatt (The Fiend). With these inspirations, I feel that I really captured the high energy needed for the final boss visual. How does "Final Boss" fit into the overall narrative of your Wanna Play series? What's the common thread? The Overall theme of the Wanna Play series as a whole has been centered around growth. And with each Volume, I Feel as though my listeners can hear that growth. Final Boss fits into that theme as well because it showcases my versatility as an alternative rap artist with a combination of punk, metal, and hip-hop. Finally, Boss also fits into the theme of Wanna Play Vol.3: Let The Games Begin because it highlights my love for video games and the aesthetics behind them. This theme will also be expanded upon more on Wanna Play Vol.3: Let The Games Begin (The DLC EDITION), which will serve as the deluxe edition of Wanna Play Vol.3. What do you want listeners to take away from "Final Boss?" What do you want them to experience for themselves? The thing that I want my listeners to take away from final Boss the most is to take up space and be that unstoppable force in life. And to go after everything that you want in life with a vengeance while embracing the full extent of your authenticity and never giving up. Instagram

Find CONSOL's Love from PortHarcourt on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, CONSOL! We’re head over heels for your latest EP, Love from PortHarcourt. What inspired you to create a project about your experiences growing up in Nigeria? Thank you so much for the love! And having me. "Love from PortHarcourt" is a deeply personal project for me. Growing up in Nigeria, especially in PortHarcourt, shaped so much of who I am today. The vibrant culture, the resilience of the people, and the rich history all left an indelible mark on my soul. I wanted to capture those experiences, the joys, the struggles, and the beauty of the town and share them with the world through my music. This EP is a love letter to PortHarcourt, with my personal story on different subjects and the memories that continue to inspire me every day. The track "Indecisive ii" on Love from PortHarcourt features the beautiful vocals of artist Cindyy. What was it like working with her, and how did that collaboration come about? So, on the OG version, listening to it felt like there was something else missing, and it hit me that, yeah, why don’t I just have a female for a remix to tell the story from a female standpoint, and this would be my first time featuring someone cause there’s always been the narrative that I don’t work with other artists. Working with Cindyy was an incredible experience. My producer gave me a few options for female singers, and I was instantly intrigued by Cindyy’s voice and style. I knew right away that she was a superstar, though I have immense respect for the other singer as well. We actually made the song in two different places, so when she sent me her vocals, it was just so beautiful to hear. It all came together perfectly, and I couldn't be happier with the result. Is there a particular song from Love from PortHarcourt that stands out as your favorite? What makes that song so special to you? That's a tough one! Every song on the project speaks to me differently. If I had to pick, maybe “I’m available” cause of the fans; on the flip side, all the songs capture a lot of my personal memories and emotions. The lyrics and melodies really take me back to those moments, and I think it beautifully represents the essence of the entire EP. Plus, the response from listeners has been amazing, which makes it even more special to me. (Laughs) You see, why don’t I really have a favorite? What moments or experiences did you enjoy most when creating Love from PortHarcourt? What was your highlight? The moments I enjoyed the most while creating "Love from PortHarcourt" were those times when everything just clicked - the music, the lyrics, the vibe. It was like each piece fell into place perfectly. It was like how each song came at different moments at the right time to carve out a proper story; from the production from producer Tayo Txn to the post-production, the recording with my engineer Supamanley, we have the sickest synergy down to the feature on the project everything was a masterpiece that I’m really proud of. What do you hope listeners experience when hearing Love from PortHarcourt? Is there a particular message or feeling you want them to connect with? I really hope that when listeners hear "Love from PortHarcourt," they feel a sense of connection to the music and the stories behind it. I want them to experience a journey through the sounds and lyrics, to feel the emotions and memories that inspired each track. Ultimately, I hope the EP brings a little piece of PortHarcourt into their hearts and leaves them with a feeling of joy, nostalgia, and maybe even a newfound appreciation for the city and its culture. From how i sound to my different approach of the topics discussed in this project. Instagram
- Sonic Scene Kids Spark Flames With New Album, “You Are Not Alone”
Toronto’s versatile punk/metal band Sonic Scene Kids continues its upward trajectory with its sophomore full-length album, You Are Not Alone. This collective of long-time local musicians formed just five months ago, and they’ve already crafted a sound known for celebrating nostalgia while exploring new sonic territories. Their latest LP, You are not alone, builds on the momentum of their debut album, Live, Laugh, Toaster Bath. It takes listeners on a wild ride through relatable lyrics, energetic beats, and a sense of community that ties it all together. The album starts with "Astro do-si-do," a chaotic burst of punk energy that sets the tone. The fast-paced guitar riffs and relentless drums are enough to get anyone moving, while the lyrics offer a sense of frantic escapism. It’s a high-energy opener perfectly capturing the band’s raw, unfiltered style. "They're trying to kill me" follows up with a heavy, nostalgic rock edge, gritty guitar riffs, and aggressive vocals that create a rebellious anthem. There’s tension throughout the track that feels both personal and political, keeping us locked in for the ride. In track three, "Crossfire" adds a metal flavor to the mix, injecting a bit of emotion and angst into the album’s darker themes. It’s a perfect example of Sonic Scene Kids’ ability to blend genres seamlessly, offering a peek into some of their heavier moments while still keeping the energy high. "Fun me!" is all about irony, with upbeat tempos contrasting its satirical lyrics. The band’s knack for mixing humor with poignant themes shines through here, giving listeners a catchy tune layered with meaning. On the heavier side, "Comatose" brings back the intensity with sludgy guitars and a dark, brooding atmosphere. The track pulls you into its depths, building up tension before exploding into a cathartic release. Sonic Scene Kids are honestly hilarious, and their humor shines through on tracks like, "There’s something up my butt," one of the more 'eccentric' songs on the album, blending punk energy with a quirky sense of humor. It’s weird, it’s fun, and it’s a reminder to take the stick out your butt. In song 7, "Echoes," we're met with a more reflective moment. Pulling back from the chaos for a moodier, atmospheric track that dives into self-reflection, the more relaxed yet still upbeat tempo and sharp vocals give the song a deeply passionate vibe, creating a stark contrast with the rest of the album’s lively tracks. Next up is "Spiders," which cranks the energy back up with a fiery punk anthem. Fast, loud, and full of attitude, it’s a mosh pit-ready track that embodies the raw intensity of Sonic Scene Kids. You might think "T. Swift stole my sandwich" is another funny standout, with its playful title and tongue-in-cheek attitude. But upon a deeper listen, it's one of the most personal, diary-esque songs on the album. It's a plea for help, wondering if one's truly alive or just going through the motions. Landing on track 10, "Dark Daze" offers a deeper dive into mental health themes, tackling feelings of isolation and anxiety. The combination of heavy riffs and raw lyrics gives the track an emotional and powerful weight—bound to impact anyone who listens. "Yes it is," keeps the energy alive with rolling drums that throw us into a sonic hellfire with heavy punk guitar riffs and the vocalist's sharp, raw vocals. It's another immersive, deeply relatable listening experience that sees the band questioning the relationships around them while trying to make it out alive. In track 12, "Don’t look now," Sonic Scene Kids wrap up the heavier portion of the album with a deeply immersive, grunge-tinged punk energy that keeps us locked in for the ride. The lyrics are reflective and thought-provoking, giving listeners a moment to pause and reflect before the album's end. Last but certainly not least, "Heaven - Acoustic" closes out the album on a more peaceful note. Stripped down and raw, the acoustic guitar and gentle vocals provide a soothing, reflective end to the somewhat 'chaotic' energy of the album. It’s a reminder that no matter how wild life gets, there's always something worth hanging on for. Explore the versatile, dynamic musical stylings of Sonic Scene Kids' newest album, You are not alone, now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Sonic Scene Kids! We love the energy and raw honesty in your recent album, You are not alone. What inspired you to create this dynamic project? After we released our last album, we didn’t stop at all. We kept writing and recording the entire year. I think we wrote about 25 songs and then focused on 13 of them that felt like they worked together. We didn’t really know how to sum up the whole album with a name or concept. But while we were recording and trying to get internet content, we bought an alien mask and used it to make funny reels. After a while, it just felt like we could keep that going and use it to promote the new album. “You are not alone” when you first hear it sounds positive. But putting an alien face on it means something completely different. We thought that was funny. Regarding the overall sound of You are not alone, what genres, artists, or projects might have influenced you along the way? I think we were mostly trying to be progressive with our writing. We didn’t want to change our sound, just build on what we’ve already done. We don’t really stick to one genre regarding our influences or what we are writing. I would say we definitely leaned more into the pop-punk genre with this album. But we still don’t really know what genre we fit into. We don’t confine ourselves to one genre. If we write a song, we don’t really think about what genre it fits into. We just try to write the best song we can and let the listener decide what genre it fits into. The track “There’s something up my butt” stands out with its quirky humor. How do you balance fun and serious themes in your music? We don’t take ourselves too seriously. I find our music to be primarily upbeat, but the lyrics are really depressing. I’ve always liked that combo for a song. But we thought it would be funny to write a short funny song and put it almost in the middle of the album. We don’t usually write funny songs. We have funny lyrics sometimes but not funny songs. We think it adds a little break in the album and reminds the listener not to take us too seriously. Which song from You are not alone is your band's collective favorite, and why? What makes that song stand out to you? I don’t think we have one. It changes for everyone all the time. We do love them all. There are songs that are a little more personal, and they stand out for sure. Astro do-so-do, Spiders, Crossfire, and Comatose stand out, but we love them all. How is You are not alone different from your debut album, Live, laugh, toaster bath? What's different this time around? We didn’t want to change our sound. We just wanted to find ways to perfect it if we could. I think what we put together achieved many of the goals we set for ourselves. We did change the way we recorded certain things. We changed how the bass and drums were recorded. We experimented a lot with guitar sounds and different guitars as well. We produced the album ourselves again, but we think we made a cleaner, tighter album, and we want to keep building on that for future music as well. Facebook

Welcome to Buzz, VAXXO! We’re head over heels for your cathartic new single, "SAVE ME." What experiences inspired you to write this song? Thanks so much for having me, "SAVE ME" was based on some not so good moments in my life where I felt disconnected spiritually and emotionally from God which led me to an emotional state of discomfort with the world. What was your creative process like when formulating the overall sound of "SAVE ME"? What vibe or feeling did you want the song to have? The creative process was very simple especially because I had a motive to write this track so it turned out to be very easy. When I sat down with my producer and friend Ben Pelchat to discuss the song, he knew right away where I was coming from, there was an instant connection! The lyrics in "SAVE ME" are deeply personal yet highly relatable. Was it easy to be so vulnerable during your songwriting process? What was that experience like? They’re very personal, that’s correct! It wasn’t easy to bring back all these feelings again. Especially because they didn’t come from a great place, but at the same time there was a relief for me to put everything into this song and share my feelings with the world, knowing that so many people go through the same situation. And working with Ben makes things way easier. How does "SAVE ME" prepare listeners for your upcoming debut album? Will this song be featured on the project, or will you take the album in a different direction? "SAVE ME" is a single, which most likely will be the introduction for an upcoming album. New songs are being written as we speak and if there’s an album on the horizon it would be a follow up to this song, just like I did on the first album with the song Give Me Life. And yes this song would be featured on the album. What do you hope listeners experience when hearing "SAVE ME?" What impact do you hope the song has on them? The idea is for fans and new listeners around the world to see themselves on this track, especially because it’s a song of hope and connection. I think the world is lacking a little bit of that right now. Instagram Facebook
- Estephanie Leaves Nothing Unsaid in New EP, “For Reasons I Can’t Explain”
Brooklyn-based recording artist and R&B singer-songwriter Estephanie delivers a deep and introspective experience with her latest 6-track EP, For Reasons I Can’t Explain. Growing up immersed in a wide range of musical genres, Estephanie draws inspiration from artists like Solange, Frank Ocean, and Erykah Badu. Her sound is a unique fusion that reflects her love for alternative R&B and neo-soul, making her a fresh voice in today’s music scene. Her newest project, For Reasons I Can’t Explain, is a 6-track journey through Estephanie’s inner world, navigating the emotional ups and downs of her early 20s. It kicks off with the chilling and deeply reflective intro track, “Testify,” a haunting experience that dives into the anxiety and self-doubt that we all face from time to time. The dark, brooding instrumentals almost hold a mirror up to Estephanie’s struggles with identity and social anxiety, pulling the listener into the depth of her relatable thoughts. Next up is track two, “Ain’t Gotta Worry,” which shifts the mood slightly. The song starts off with a nonchalant tone, reflecting the mask Estephanie sometimes wears to shield her true feelings. As the track progresses, the emotion builds, revealing the pressure that comes from bottling up one’s emotions for too long. The song’s layered production enhances this transition to perfection—a true standout moment on the EP. “No New Pills,” the EP's third track, is perhaps the most personal song on the project. In this sonically heavenly listening experience, Estephanie opens up about the dangers of addiction, societal expectations, and her desperation to succeed as an artist. The raw honesty in her lyrics, paired with a more direct R&B sonic approach, makes this track a powerful highlight. The fourth song, “Just Say That You Don’t Wanna Be,” offers a brief moment of release. With lighter instrumentals that soothe the listener's soul, the song feels like a breath of fresh air amidst the heavier themes Estephanie has brought to light throughout the EP. It’s a gentle yet conceptually powerful realization that sees Estephanie acknowledge the need to let go and move forward as a world of new possibilities awaits. “A Fatal Attraction” brings us back to Estephanie’s bread and butter with a classic heartbreak ballad. The stripped-down arrangement, featuring Estephanie’s piano prowess, perfectly paves the way for her raw vocals and emotional storytelling to shine bright. It’s a deeply personal track that explores how love and relationships evolve as we change, as terrifying or cathartic as that may be. The EP closes with the outro track, “Mindful (A Note to Self),” a fitting conclusion that encapsulates the theme of self-discovery discussed throughout the project. It's a moment of reflection, paired with a meditative bell, offering listeners a sense of closure while still leaving them with the sense that Estephanie’s journey is far from over. Hear it yourself and experience the beautifully crafted, deeply immersive EP 'For Reasons I Can’t Explain' by Estephanie, now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Estephanie! We're so impressed with the depth and emotion in your new EP, For Reasons I Can't Explain. What inspired you to create this personal and relatable project? Thank you for the love Buzz. I wrote this project back in maybe 2022. At that time, I was at a pretty low point mentally and felt lost in who I was and where I was going. This project is a reflection and projection of all of those feelings. It’s raw; it’s weird; it’s whimsical; it's light and dark; it exposes sides of me that I often never show. I find it funny that I wrote the first and last tracks and then filled in between. It follows how I processed my emotions at the time, too. The track “No New Pills” from the EP is particularly raw and honest. Can you share more about what this song means to you? “No New Pills” was one of the first tracks I’d ever written about the desperation one can feel when wanting to be successful. I’ve felt it before, I know others have too. Being in my 20 somethings, I find it hard to feel like I have a grip on my path. All I know is that I want to make art. This is probably one of the most vulnerable songs in the project, the most personal to me. I talk about how badly I want to succeed for my family. I talk about addiction and going down the wrong path. I talk about feeling like I’m never as present as I should be when it comes to my success, being so focused on a goal that I forget to take it slow and congratulate myself. I talk about expectations of others and experiences I’ve had (and I’m sure others have had) where I’ve been promised everything on a silver platter, just to end up lost and abandoned. All of these things fill up my brain and ultimately can cloud my judgment when making decisions if I let them. What was your goal regarding sound and style for the EP, For Reasons I Can't Explain? Did any genres or artists mainly influence this project? Regarding having a goal for the sound, hmm, it’s hard to say. When I wrote these songs back in 2020, I produced the demos for them simultaneously, which is often how my writing process goes. I wasn’t thinking of anything other than what I was feeling at the moment. I now see and hear influences in punk, theatre, dance, alternative, pop, and RnB. It makes sense cause I did visualize the project as theatrical and very visual. Also, thinking back on the process, I remember that “Mindful” was written from a demo instrumental that was initially called “Frank Ocean Inspo” cause I tried to make a Frank Ocean beat at the time lmao. A friend told me the project reminded her of Billie Eilish and Willow, which I’m honored cause I love them both, haha. And I love Solange; I think you can hear her influence in “Just Say That You Don’t Wanna Be” and other songs I’ve written since then. “Mindful (A Note to Self)” serves as the EP's powerful and personal outro track. What message did you want to leave listeners with? “Mindful (A Note To Self)” went through 4 to 5 versions before it was finished. The original version was much sadder, much darker. It was originally a song that spoke about feeling unwanted as I am. And as real of a feeling as that was; I had a conversation with a friend that completely changed the directory of that track. I had him listen to it and another version I had at the time, asking for guidance because I wasn’t sure what version I wanted to end this project with. He told me to ask myself that very thing: “What feeling do you want the audience to leave with?” The rest just flowed after that. The first post-prod. session I had with the co-producer of this project, WhyKaiser, we decided to start with Mindful. Our friend Alex was there at the time and played this beautiful arpeggio. When I left that session, there was a whole new version. I went home and re-recorded all of the vocals, changing and cutting down many of the lyrics. This new version was now lighter, encompassing the feelings of being lost but trusting the process. And that is what I want people to leave with after listening to this EP. It’s okay to feel lost…trust the process. How does For Reasons I Can't Explain reflect where you're currently, as an artist and in life? What does it say about you? I didn’t expect to relate to this project anymore, but I do. It says a lot about me that (like the title implies) I often find hard to explain. It reflects the limbo that I’m in right now, 2 years later, traveling through the unknown. Except before, I’d say I was tiptoeing. I think rn I’m at a good walking/jogging pace, excited to sprint. It also shows how much I love to experiment and explore. It is a great introduction and teaser to my music on the way. Instagram
- Dive Into Emotive Storytelling With "Coming Home" From The Cold Stares
Hailing from Evansville, Indiana, but steeped in the Southern roots of Western Kentucky, Chris Tapp and Brian Mullins of The Cold Stares infuse "Coming Home" with a raw, unapologetic energy that’s impossible to ignore. Back with their latest single, it's a gritty, soulful testament to everything that makes this blues-rock trio so electrifying. You're drawn towards their gravitational pull from the first strum of the guitar. Tapp’s playing is drenched in character and passion, each note resonating with the kind of emotion that can only come from a place deep within. His vocals, textured and reverberating, spill over with intensity, driving home the song’s themes of resilience and redemption. You can feel the weight of every word, and it’s clear that this band plays with heart. Mullins on drums is no less impressive, with a rhythm section that growls and rumbles beneath the surface, providing the perfect counterbalance to Tapp’s searing guitar work. There’s a unity in their performance, a seamless blending of talents that still allows each member to shine individually. It’s a delicate balance that few bands can achieve, but The Cold Stares make it look easy. "Coming Home" is a powerful slice of modern blues-rock that pays homage to the band's Southern heritage while pushing the genre forward. With fuzzed-out guitars, Zeppelin-esque riffs, and nods to the Delta blues, it’s a track that feels both timeless and fresh. The Cold Stares have once again proven that they’re a force to be reckoned with, delivering a song that’s as emotionally charged as it is musically impressive. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer, "Coming Home" is sure to leave you wanting more leading up to the release of their forthcoming album, "The Southern," come September. Welcome to Buzz, The Cold Stares! We're loving the energy you've brought forth with "Coming Home." Can you please walk us through its inspiration and what the song means to you personally? I wrote it after we had been on tour in Europe for a bit, we had returned home for a bit and I had to head down to KY for a day to take care of some taxes, see some old friends and places that took me back to my youth. Coming Home is about the feeling that arrives when you return back to your roots. How would you say your Kentucky roots shape your sound; especially on this new single? Probably more than anything it helped shaped the story telling aspect of my writing, and to the keep the language in the blue collar realm so we all know what I’m getting at. I love language and the flowery notes that speaking southern can raise, but at the end of the day you have to connect to the listener. Blending traditional blues with a modern rock edge, how do you balance staying true to your roots while evolving your sound? I just try to be myself, and make sure I’m speaking in an honest voice of my background and experiences. Not a huge fan of modern rock, but rock and blues both are extremely important to who I am. Your lyrics often delve into themes of resilience and redemption. How do these themes reflect your own personal journeys, both as musicians and individuals? Well, I don’t think you can write about troubles without over coming some. We’ve had our share, and I’m sure it helps to connect with others who’ve dealt with the same. We’ve not all found the love of our lives, but we’ve all lost someone we loved. Sometimes sharing mutual sorrow is easier than joy. What can fans expect from your upcoming album "The Southern," and how does "Coming Home" set the tone for what’s to come? Coming Home is just a piece of the tapestry, and the Southern album’s both reflect a whole of experiences of what being southern means to us, redemption and reflection both. Instagram Facebook
