  • Survival Club Release Second Single “Maybe We’ll Learn Something From All Of This (But Probably Not)”

With their upcoming second single, Toronto alt-rockers Survival Club are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Born in the long darkness of a pandemic that was worse than it needed to be, “Maybe We’ll Learn Something From All of This (But Probably Not)” grew into a song more broadly about living in a world in which war, climate change, and late-stage capitalism all pose their own existential threat that hangs over just about everyone’s mental well-being. In a few bittersweet minutes of punk-influenced guitar rock with a super-catchy chorus and even a ripping solo by saxophonist Ruhee Dewji, “Maybe We’ll Learn Something” is a song written for anyone who wants the world to be a better place but feels powerless to change it. Sometimes, it’s enough to get by. There’s a sadness to that, but there’s also a glimmer of defiance and even a hint of humor. “This song is for anyone who spends any amount of time imagining a better world and then immediately getting frustrated that it just seems impossible,” the band says. “It’s obviously not impossible, but it often feels that way. This song is about allowing yourself to have those feelings. It’s also a reminder that we’re all in this together, win or lose.” Survival Club comprises singer-songwriter and guitarist Adam Feibel, lead guitarist Justin Smirlies, bassist Bryan Brocoy, and drummer Tay Ewart. The members are experienced performers, having played stages all over Canada and beyond with several other Canadian acts, including Like Pacific, Fools of Love, Modern Space, and Brocoy. Instagram

  • Post Malone Goes Pop-Punk Thanks To Go For Gold

Hailing from Arkansas, Go For Gold burst onto the scene in 2017 as a college bedroom project that quickly gained momentum, and today just released their highly anticipated cover of “Chemical” by Post Malone. “We chose to cover ‘Chemical’ really just based on a feeling. The song is emotional and we connected with it personally and wanted to convey the same message as the original song, but infuse it sonically with our own sound.” Their DIY 2019 "Daydreamer" demos turned heads regionally. They were recorded with passion in a humble garage setup. Amidst the challenges of 2020, they dropped the infectious "Color Me EP," featuring the standout track "Tone." In 2021, the dynamic duo of Spencer and Jared unleashed "COPE," their first studio effort, sparking a surge of Spotify hits. The excitement continued in December 2022 with the electrifying "So Sick EP," crafted alongside renowned producer Kyle Black (Paramore, Pierce The Veil, Taking Back Sunday). This collaboration saw Go For Gold embrace a fresh, upbeat sound, highlighted by the chart-topping "Really Hate." “Our process included us creating 15 different versions of the cover before finding the idea that stuck, which we started writing 2 months after the original was released. We had to take some time to step away from it before eventually returning with a clear vision, resulting in what we are putting out into the world today.” Instagram It’s safe to say that Arkansas struck gold with this brilliant band, with its southern citizens' die-hard support. As they push boundaries and captivate audiences, Go For Gold promises an exhilarating journey ahead in the world of alternative music.

  • Shaynie Rhoads Continues To Turn Heads With “Dynamite”

The captivating and dynamic Cali-based songstress continues to impress with her “pink metal” style. In a landscape often dominated by genre purists, Shaynie Rhoads looks to flip the scene on its head with her unique sound. Rhoads, a passionate, guitar-slinging headbanger from Oceanside, California, has captivated audiences everywhere with her distinct twist on the genre, aptly dubbed “pink metal.” With riffs that harken back to the glory days of 80s metal and a vocal style reminiscent of 00s teen idols, this talented artist redefines what it means to be a rockstar with every release. This month marks a significant milestone in Rhoads’s career as she celebrates the re-release of “Dynamite,” a single from her early days as an aspiring pop artist. However, listeners are in for a treat; this isn't just a simple reissue. Armed with heavy guitars, explosive riffs, and a fierce new attitude and cadence to go with it, the revamped “Dynamite” is set to transport listeners back to the days of glam bands and neon lights, all while maintaining a metal edge that’s both upbeat and unabashedly feminine. From the first note, listeners of “Dynamite” are treated to powerful and breathtaking guitar play that instantly sets the bar high. Rhoad is more than up to the challenge; her vocals are spunky and passionate and work perfectly with “Dynamite’s” instrumental performance. For any skeptics who might’ve doubted Rhoads’s ability to make her “pink metal” work, “Dynamite” stands as surefire proof that it works and sounds good, too. Channeling greats like Judas Priest, Guns ‘n’ Roses, and Metallica, Rhoads has impressively created a style that is nonetheless unique yet equally as captivating. Shaynie Rhoads is more than just a musician; she’s a trailblazer, breathing new life into the rock genre with a pink-hued twist. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Rhoads’s new release, “Dynamite,” on all majour streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Shaynie Rhoads! We loved “Dynamite.” What an awesome twist on your original release! We had to ask, how have you changed as an artist from when “Dynamite” was originally released to now? You’ve gone from pop to metal, what do you think sparked that change? Thank you!  I grew up on rock 'n' roll and had always wanted to be in a metal band.  I did the pop thing for years because I thought it was what I was supposed to do, to be accepted.  Eventually, I realized that I wasn't being true to myself and that I was missing out on playing music that I actually loved. Forming a band taught me that being an artist isn't about being accepted but rather doing what you believe in, and I've since gained the confidence I needed to start taking my music in a more authentic direction.  This doesn't mean I don't like pop or that it doesn't still influence my sound.  It's more like heavy metal wrapped in pink, sparkly packaging.  I call it "pink metal." What’s your favorite part of the creative process for making music, and what’s been your proudest musical moment so far? I love the feeling of writing a new riff and being stoked on it.  Writing has never come naturally to me, so when I come up with something that I don't hate, I'm having a good day.  In the process of creating the new "Dynamite," my producer and I had to work our way backward, writing riffs and licks for a harmonic structure and vocal melody that were already in place.  We put a lot of effort into giving it that characteristically sassy hair metal flair while maintaining the integrity of the original song.  I am really happy with the way it came out. What does being able to create and share your music with your fans mean to you? Music is a form of expression. It allows me to articulate certain feelings or memories without relying solely on words. I like being able to bare my heart without saying too much. What is the most important quality for a musician to have? Work ethic.  Without a doubt. What’s next for Shaynie Rhoads, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans? I'm developing the genre of pink metal further, and I'm really excited to show everyone what it's all about.  "Dynamite" is just a taste.  Be ready for more! Instagram Facebook

Celebrating the first anniversary of "Taurus," Erin reintroduces this beloved single with a fresh perspective. The song explores the playful spirit and stubbornness often associated with the Taurus sign, encapsulating the complexities of relationships and self-reflection. From the opening moments of "Taurus," Erin's smooth, compelling vocals lead into an energetic, rock-influenced beat. Listeners are instantly hooked by the melodic charm and witty lyrics. The production, overseen by Topher Mohr, enhances the song's appeal with a polished yet authentic sound. Erin's powerful vocals, combined with the track's dynamic instrumentals, keep listeners fully engaged. The song's depth and replay value make it a standout hit. Erin Greider is fully embracing her musical journey. Her debut album, "Sim Controllers," focused on tumultuous relationship experiences, but "Taurus" showcases a more self-aware and confident artist. This track highlights Erin's growth over the past year and sets the stage for future projects. Explore the undeniable talent and charismatic style of Erin Greider through her latest re-release, "Taurus," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Erin! We love the energy and concept of your single, "Taurus." What inspired you to revisit and re-release this song? Thank you so much! This song is special to me, as I feel it truly captures my voice. I love that I’m poking fun at myself a bit. It’s the first single from my upcoming sophomore album, so while we get ready for that, I thought it was perfect to revisit this song during the Taurus season. Did you produce the re-release of "Taurus" solo, or was that a collaborative process? Could you expand on how you brought this vibrant track to life again? All the songs for the next album, including “Taurus,” were produced by Topher Mohr. I’m grateful to be able to collaborate with him; he’s an amazing musician and producer. Our creative process is always very easy, fluid, and intuitive. We wanted “Taurus” to be upbeat with a strong rhythm to match the cheekiness of the lyrics, and I feel that the music really captures that vibe. What was your songwriting process like for "Taurus?" What themes or concepts did you want to get across in your lyrics? It’s always difficult for me to articulate my songwriting process because I really do have to let the song come to me. I remember exactly where I was on the freeway when the verse came to me, and I was struggling not to forget it before I could record it in my voice memos. I wanted to talk about how feelings are hard and poke fun at myself for not being comfortable with emotions. I aimed to capture the humor in how we often get in our way, especially when dealing with relationships. Would you say that "Taurus" is a continuation of the themes explored in "Sim Controllers?" Are there any similarities between these works? I think you saw a glimpse of my sense of humor and self-deprecation in “Sim Controllers,” but "Taurus" takes it to a new level. It feels fresh, even though I talked about struggling with emotions on that album as well. This song brings a lighter, more self-aware perspective through the lyrics. What do you hope listeners take away from "Taurus?" What was your goal in that respect? I hope people can approach the song with a sense of humor. I love it when I play it live and someone giggles at the "call triple A on her own" line. I also hope they can relate to not wanting to have feelings for someone, maybe being in denial, but ultimately not being able to help it. Instagram Facebook

  • Tia Lowe Is the Sultry New Voice You Should Have Flowing Through Your Headphones

The young singer's buttery smooth vocals and jazzy bass lines evoke sensual self-confidence while also inviting listeners to dance to her unique melodies. Having grown up with a mum equally enamored by music (Lou Mullenger, one half of “The Melody Men”), Tia naturally progressed into creating music from a young age. “I think I always wanted to create music coming from a musical background, my mum being a producer and singer. It’s always been in my blood,” Tia explained. Having worked alongside her talented mum, Tia has continued to grow as a musician as her life flourishes, which allows her to build lyrics around her life experiences. Her desire-filled lyrics perfectly capture her confidence, and that within the listeners is immediately evoked when she takes to the stage. When describing her sound, Tia said her sound is “quite versatile.” She accredited this to her love of experimenting across different genres; “I would say overall it’s a smooth selection & you could definitely find a song for every mood.” And this can be seen clearly across her ever-growing library of work. From her earliest track, ‘Rockaboat,’ which plays alongside a lo-fi beat, Tia has kept a consistently tantalizing vibe whilst developing her tracks to include a more developed production progression. And while her songs grow in complexity, Tia wants “people to feel good & have positive vibrations when they hear ‘Tia Lowe’.” Her latest track, ‘Frk,’ really leans into her inner sauciness. When speaking on the track, Tia explained that the song is about “fulfilling your partner's desires. Tapping into that sexy nature & showing him “all the things that I can be”.” The track, made by talented producer Judah Jump in Montreal, was then co-produced by Tia and her mum. The pair added some more saucy sax sounds to enhance that alluring sound, and with the help of Tia’s partner, who took the cover art images, ‘Frk’ was born. Her smooth vocals make this track a perfect sound for the end of a hot, steamy summer's day, really one for anyone ready to embrace their inner ‘Frk’. “I’m definitely an artist that does have a lot of sensual tunes,” Tia said. “But I do like to write about everything. Generally, a lot of my unreleased stuff is super different, even tapping into soft rock; as I mentioned, I love to experiment with different genres.” And it’s this interest in expanding and learning that makes Tia such an exciting new creative. With even more up her sleeve that she alluded to during our conversation, we’re on the edge of our seats for this new artist's highly anticipated evolution. Instagram

  • Petty Human Emotion Pays Tribute to Friends and an Old Hometown Legend on “Lady in the Lake”

The Los Angeles trio continues to impress with another strong release ahead of their second studio album. Formed in early 2023 but already rocking out crowds with their electric presence, the transparently independent alternative rock outfit has quickly become known for its tight, energetic shows. As they gear up for of their highly anticipated second album, “Outside”, Petty Human Emotions aren’t taking their foot off the gas; it’s full steam ahead. Although the band’s first album was a solo effort on the part of frontman James Nardiello, he states that “Outside” allowed each member to really leave their mark and lean into their style. Although this might seem risky, especially for a new band, their impressive chemistry once again results in a product that feels like the band’s been playing together for years. As the first single for “Outside,” expectations for Petty Human Emotion’s latest release, “Lady in the Lake,” were always going to be high. And they should be; on “Lady in the Lake,” Petty Human Emotions prove yet again that their artistic ability and musical vision are all top-notch.
