- New Saviors Reject Religious Hypocrisy On Their Powerful New Release, “Garden Of Lies”
How can you preach love and forgiveness while simultaneously marginalizing the vulnerable? With their commitment to making moody yet fully immersive melodic metalcore releases, post-rock outfit New Saviors has positioned themselves for an explosive ascension. True artists at heart, their belief that experimentation and authenticity are the keys to leaving a lasting legacy has led to the development of a signature sound that is equal parts unique and captivating. With a slew of dynamic releases on the horizon and an extensive tour scheduled for 2024, New Saviors is an act that you will want to keep your eyes on in the future. 2023 has been a good year for New Saviors. Having already released their “Personal Hell” EP to great success and acclaim earlier this year, this dynamic quartet looks to keep their white-hot streak going. How could they not; between Mich King on vocals, Zack King also on vocals and guitar, Steve Paige on bass, and Kyle Frechette on drums, these electrifying musicians have created a musical force that is even greater than the sum of its significantly talented parts. With their talent and passion, the sky is the limit, and New Saviors are shooting for the stars. “Garden of Lies” is New Savior’s dynamic follow-up to their Personal Hell EP and continues to see the band innovate and push the limits of their artistry. Vocalist Mick King describes “Garden of Lies” as their “most ballsy callout to date,” with lyrics like “Go and rest your weary head / regret the way you make your bed” and “You can pray for salvation in your garden of lies” calling out people who use religion to justify their hateful words and actions. In “Garden of Lies”, New Savior continues to honor their commitment to making music that addresses topics close to their heart. With their standout performance on this release, they continue to prove that they can do it in a way that captures hearts as quickly as it captures our ears. New Savior’s new release, “Garden of Lies,” is a robust offering that rejects the cowardice and hypocrisy of those who use religion to spread hate and bigotry. - James Cole Explores The Pursuit Of Love In A Debut Album, ‘Because Of You’
From Tampa to Nashville, captivating singer-songwriter and pop/R&B recording artist James Cole swoons our speakers in a monumental debut album dubbed Because Of You. Music City couldn't be a better home for an artist like this. The songwriter, artist, and producer understands that a great song encompasses a sacred balance between conceptual lyrics and pristine production. With that notion in mind, James Cole is well on his way to becoming a significant player in today's new music scene. He remains true to his mission of pumping out chart-topping tracks that celebrate today's culture while making tunes that stand the test of time. And his debut 6-track album, Because Of You, is no exception. Right off the bat, James Cole grabs our attention with the catchiest melodies and well-rounded production, and we're eager to dive deeper (ears-first) into this dynamic record. Hitting play on the intro track, "Back to the Bottle," we're met with ethereal background pads that sink into the foreground alongside a groovy, top-tapping bassline. James Cole's sweet-sounding vocals leave us chanting his memorable lyrics within seconds, and those lyrics are ultra-relatable. The moments spiraling out of control and feeling hopeless in pursuing love, James Cole soothes his sorrows with the bottle, the joint, and whatever temporary band-aid he can find. Although conceptual and relatable, the vibes remain high and mighty, and the same goes for track number two, "Love It." This captivating tune sinks deeper into this passion of fiery love, and James Cole's smooth-sailing bars perfectly depict the nature of turbulent, hot-and-heavy relationships. Adding a dynamic back-and-forth is the angelic vocal stylings of Leah Colon, who perfectly rounds out the passionate theme with stunning vocals that keep us hooked until the last beat. Upping the sensual, sultry vibes is the album's third track, "Come Slide," taking off with a heavy kick that vibrates the soul alongside mysterious synth arrangements and James Cole's breathy, alluring vocals. His lyrics are equally engaging, perfectly setting the passionate scene with witty lines like "Don't worry about the drive, got the Uber on the way, you can meet him outside." It's a steamy, powerful track that hits in all the right places. Reaching the album's second half with track number four, "You Don't Care," James Cole shifts into a more emotional, personal space accompanied by low-toned synth arrangements and downtempo percussion. While expressing his concerns about his pursuit of love and recalling the losses he's faced, James Cole's velvety vocals shake listeners with deeply relatable concepts of wishing a past lover would return if it means not being alone. Continuing that emotional theme is the album's fifth track, "Out of Bounds," softly opening with delicate piano melodies and James Cole's gentle vocals. Wearing his heart on his sleeve, his melancholy lyrics plead for a lover to hear him out and, hopefully, come back around. It's the most personal point of the album thus far, and we get heavy Frank Ocean vibes from James Cole's powerful, vibrant vocals. Consider our heartstrings tugged. Landing on the album's sixth, final, and title track, "Because of You," James Cole's confessional lyrics float through the speakers from the get-go. Accompanied by a cinematic, electronic instrumental arrangement, James Cole serenades our souls with confessions that his lowest moments result from a past lover. Yet, even as the pain rages on, he remains entirely smitten by this special person. James Cole's debut album, Because Of You, is one of the most conceptual, well-executed albums we've heard this year—without a doubt. Fans of any genre can get down with this relatable concept, but pop/R&B lovers are in for a real treat. Find James Cole's new album, Because Of You, on all digital streaming platforms. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Jordan Khalaf’s new song, “Dancing In the Moonlight,” on all majour streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Jordan Khalaf! We loved "Dancing In the Moonlight." Could you take us through your creative process for this song? "Dancing In the Moonlight" was a song that I wrote pretty quickly. As a general rule, I try not to force songs too much and let songs write themselves in a way, meaning I don't go into a writing session for a song with any preconceived notion of what I'm writing about. With this song, the real challenge was capturing and balancing all of these competing ideas that come with this idea of first love and falling in love repeatedly. The most apt description I can think of for that is that it's like staring at the night sky as a kid; there's this fascination with the unknown, yet there's this vibrant simplicity filled with so much unbridled energy. Recognizing that and trying to capture the essence of that musically and lyrically is what guided the song. What inspired you to first get into music, and what inspires you to create music today? Music has been a massive part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've been writing music since I was young (those songs are the work of a little kid), but I've always just loved stories. Reading stories, telling stories, experiencing levels. Life is just this vast story full of a myriad of experiences, and to be able to capture those is such a beautiful thing to me. What does music mean to you? Music is indeed an integral part of who I am and my identity. It's the most effective form of communicating everything and anything. It's how I process the world and life and emotions.: and that's relatable to many people. Music transcends language in a lot of ways. It's why we have playlists for when we're sad, playlists for joy, or playlists for road trips. It's the backdrop to some of our greatest and worst memories. Music is everywhere, and I'm genuinely so privileged and grateful that I can contribute to that, even a little bit. How would you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard it before, and what do you want listeners to feel when they listen? My music is nostalgic, relatable, and authentic. Stylistically, how we approach production and how I write is reminiscent of many late 90s/early 2000s pop-rock, which evokes nostalgia in people. In terms of content, I write in a way that isn't isolating to any one group and that anyone can resonate with, no matter what stage they are in their life. I write from the heart, and I write honestly, but I also strongly believe in this idea of "art for art's sake." It's not up to me to decide how people interpret one of my songs; I hope it resonates with people in their ways! What's next for Jordan Khalaf? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans? I should have more music coming out soon! The plan is to release another single and drop the full EP sometime next year. I'm also getting more into writing and producing for other people! I'm always writing and probably have albums of unreleased material in my notes app, and that won't ever stop. To anyone who's been gracious enough to listen to my music or is planning on listening to it, honestly, I appreciate you and am so immensely grateful for supporting me! Music is a challenging career, and having that love and support helps me be able to do what I love. So thank you! Instagram

Winning over listeners by way of Houston, Texas, is the 3-piece alternative band Proverbial Cool Aid with their sophomore full-length studio album, 2023. Featuring singer-songwriter Damen Martin (vocals/guitar), Mark Rutledge (bass), and Gabby Duplenne (drums), Proverbial Cool Aid has quite an impressive track record. From opening for Paul Wall and Greate White to headlining across the country, Proverbial Cool Aid is now embarking on an Eastern US Tour and is eager to head back to open for Sponge at the Whisky A GoGo in April 2024. Earlier this month, Proverbial Cool Aid released their sophomore full-length album entitled 2023, and it marks the end of a year of recording between Damen Martin and producer Josh Applebee at Wire Road Studios in Houston. Here's what to expect from the new record. 2023 starts with the mid-tempo and reflective intro track, "30 Years Gone," opening with smooth electric guitar hums and a gentle organ in the background, reminiscent of the soul and emotion in Bruce Springsteen's "Factory." Yet, Proverbial Cool Aid ups the feeling and energy on the hook to keep us locked in, swaying in the breeze with serene instrumentation that feeds the soul. Onto track number two, "It Goes Sometimes," Proverbial Cool Aid pounces through the speakers with crunchy electric guitars, a thick drum beat, and growling bass licks that grab our undivided attention. As Martin's crisp vocals reflect on the comings and goings of life and his ongoing passion for someone special, Proverbial Cool Aid increases the energy to keep us moving and grooving. It's a fiery and upbeat track that'll leave you feeling better than you did before. With the album's third track, "The Stand," Martin's tender vocals softly open the song. At the same time, bright piano melodies linger in the background alongside crunchy electric guitars, groovy bass licks, and upbeat drums. Martin's sweet lyrics depict the passionate emotions of yearning to be with someone who isn't far out of reach, something many of us can relate to. It's another uplifting track that keeps a smile on our faces and a groove through our feet. On the album's fourth track, "My Days," we sink into a hazy, reflective tune with Martin's velvety vocals, Rutledge's subtle bass licks, and Duplenne's downtempo percussion. This song is packed with honest, relatable lyrics that reflect on the days wasted and given away, praying for direction to get through the rest of them. It's a refreshing track that reminds us to make each day count, no matter where we are on our journey. Reaching the halfway point with track number five, "Houston Time," Proverbial Cool Aid sinks into their Texas roots with a country-infused banger that reminds us to take time and smell the roses, just as they do on Houston time. This song is packed with grooves and subtle, jazzy nods. Martin's twangy vocals and guitar, paired with Rutledge's thick bass and Duplenne's rhythmic drums, make it a treat for the ears. Feeling "Sick?" Find your pick-me-up with Proverbial Cool Aid's large and in-charge sixth track. Gradually opening with heavy electric guitars, riveting bass licks, and pounding drums, the 3-piece explodes halfway through the way with ample power and might. This exhilarating instrumental showcases a heavier side of Proverbial Cool Aid that many listeners will significantly appreciate. Proverbial Cool Aid invites Vince B and JQ Musiq to hop on the album's seventh track, "Sick & Pool Hall," an elongated rendition of the sixth track but with the featured artist's vocal prowess. As we approach the song's halfway mark, Vince B's sultry vocals drip through the speakers with rich harmonies, while JQ Musiq closes the track with his heavy-hitting bars to infuse a dash of hip-hop into this eclectic record. This might be our personal highlight of the album. Upping the passion and feel-good vibes is the eighth track, "Grandpa (Tell Me 'bout the Good Old Days)," Proverbial Cool Aid launches the tune with beaming organ-like keys and country-rock/alternative instrumentals for a well-rounded feel. As Martin expresses his desire to return to simpler times, courtesy of Grandpa's timeless tales, Proverbial Cool Aid loads our speakers with nostalgia and the relatable notion of navigating the complex modern world. Fun fact: the album's outro track "West La" was the first song recorded from Proverbial Cool Aid after a 12-year hiatus. And it's easy to tell why the band saved this track for last. It's oozing with soul, from the rich organs to the toe-tapping beat and Martin's dreamy lyrics of finding himself in West LA. It not only reminds us to chase our dreams but to stick to our passions and roll with the punches because anything can happen in "West La." With nine wholly different yet cohesive tracks, three talented musicians, and one killer album, Proverbial Cool Aid puts on quite a show in their sophomore LP, 2023. - From Petals To Pain: Isabella Chiarini Explores The Fragility Of Love In “Love Me Not”
Pain, betrayal, and disappointment. We've all felt them, but Hamilton-based singer-songwriter Isabella Chiarini highlights these emotions with striking lyricism in her latest single, "Love Me Not." This isn't the first we've heard of Chiarini; it certainly won't be the last. Each time she graces our speakers, we're captivated by her conscious lyricism, unwavering authenticity, and profound exploration of subgenres beneath pop. If there's one thing she hopes, it's that her music inspires listeners "to love and believe in themselves," and this holds with her emotional new single, "Love Me Not." The song opens with lush acoustic guitars and faint background pads, painting the emotional and gloomy soundscape. As Chiarini's haunting vocals meet our speakers, she expresses the time wasted, lies told, and petals picked off the flower that was once a relationship. Her description of two lovers falling fast, making promises they cannot keep, and watching hearts shatter is nothing but chilling to the bone. Her vocals on the hook soar overtop while the melancholy, soothing acoustic guitar strums on, reminiscent of an early 2000s Avril Lavigne in "I'm With You." The vocal layering is pristine, making it seem like Chiarini is serenading us in the same room. As the instrumentation gradually expands with added strings for depth and piano for soul, Chiarini pulls herself to the outro with the cruel realization that she was never loved in the way she was promised. Isabella Chiarini has such a way with words, and her lyricism in "Love Me Not" is a prime example. Do yourself a favor and feast your ears on the stunning new single, now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome back to Buzz, Isabella! We deeply admire the emotion you poured into your new single, "Love Me Not." What inspired this theme and narrative? What experiences might have influenced it? This narrative came from some personal experiences. Some people had told me everything I wanted to hear, but I felt they didn't show me what they told me. I always find that more difficult because you want to believe them, but you know the truth when it comes down to it. We couldn't help but hear a little early 2000s Avril Lavigne in "Love Me Not." Did you have any musical influences when building and shaping the track? When I create new songs, I always go into them with an open mind; I didn't have too much direction for the song other than the general idea. I walked into the session with the concept of picking pedals off a flower each time, saying, "he loves me, he loves me not." That is where the title came from, and everything morphed from there. What was your recording process like for "Love Me Not," considering your lyrics are incredibly emotional and powerful? Was it a cathartic experience? I recorded this song with a producer who I love, so I felt super comfortable. Being comfortable helped me feel okay and show lots of emotion. There were a few times when I was choking back tears, but that makes for a vulnerable and authentic track. The lyricism in "Love Me Not" is incredibly personal and compelling. What was your songwriting process like, especially for an emotional song? I wrote this song with Brian Melo, winner of Canadian Idol. I have known Brian for over ten years, so sharing my experiences with him felt easy. We also had help from Paul Stephens, who is based in Nashville, who is also great! I felt perfect after the songwriting session because I felt like I could finally let all the feelings I had inside out and not hold everything in anymore. Writing things down helps me release any emotion building up inside. You've mentioned your hope of inspiring listeners to love and believe in themselves through your music. How do you think "Love Me Not" affects that message? This song is empowering because the concept is that if you cannot give me everything you said you would, it's time for this to end. It can be very vulnerable and challenging to tell someone how you're genuinely feeling and lay the cards on the table, which I do in this song. It is a message for everyone in a challenging situation. If you've voiced your concerns and nothing changes, it is okay to walk away; if it is meant to be, it will always return. Instagram Facebook
