- Find A Way To Out Of Your Bad “Habits” With You Me & The Dogs
Based out of Carrollton, Georgia, You Me & The Dogs is composed of the lead vocals of Drey and Ed Thrower on the keys. Writing, producing, and recording all of their material, the band You Me & The Dogs formed to experiment with their sound and ultimately have fun. With two singles currently released, they're working on a forthcoming debut album. Diving headfirst into their latest single, "Habits," the elevating pop soundscape produces a poignant atmosphere through the catchy melodies etched into this single. Stemmed from Drey's profound idea, the story of "Habits" takes us on a tour of authenticity, vulnerability, and bravery as we listen to this record from start to finish. The ambiance instilled in the production elements has us grooving along to the vibrant tempo with every snare hit felt in our chest. Accompanied by lulling guitar riffs and distinctive synths and pads, this mesmerizing foundation acts as the perfect sonic bed upon Drey to lay her vocals. As she professes heartfelt croons that shed light on how we hide bad habits from those we love due to their control over us, we're awestruck by how the melancholic lyrics pair with more uplifting instrumentation. Throughout "Habits," the pop-like genre in which we can classify this track continuously pushes the envelope into the electronic realm through powerful delay throws and grand musical progressions. Drenched in soul, You Me & The Dogs excel at moving us as we breathe in every word shed. Listen to "Habits," out now on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, You Me & The Dogs. We adore your latest single, "Habits," and its message. With the deep lyrics being detailed and moving, is this song based on a true story? Please shine a light on the moment or story behind it. Thanks so much! We had such an amazing time creating this song. It’s based on two stories that Drey mashed up into one song! One part of the story is about someone feeling like they were never safe with anyone but themselves, and the other part comes from having to deal with the pressures of being young and everyone expecting perfection from you. This song really touches on how easy it can be to try and self-isolate instead of letting people who care about you in. Being your second single released, how does it compare to the previously released "this love? This song has a different vibe to it than “this love” our first single was created just out of our love for each other, and the second one was more of a deep dive into our personal issues. We’re still experimenting with finding our sound, so it’s been great not to be limited to one particular sub-genre. We love how close you have connected since you're married. Do you find that music as an outlet strengthens your relationship with one another? Absolutely! We connected over music from the beginning, and with Ed being such a magnificent pianist/engineer, it’s been wonderful having our ideas being brought to life here in our home studio. We definitely bond and have fun creating music together. We're thrilled to hear you have a full-length project in the works. What can you tell us about the album you're currently working on? We’ve wanted to do our album for years now and will definitely have some of our best storytelling yet. We’re hoping to release it within the next year! What's next for You Me & The Dogs? Next for us is gigging, working on our album, and continuing to release singles! We can’t wait to share more of our art with the world. Instagram Facebook
- The Strength In The Cofields' Family Is Divinely Showcased In, "Royalty"
Combining a myriad of genres such as hip-hop, gospel, R&B, and contemporary pop, The Cofields are back at it again as they combine harmonies and put forth the ultimate bop to sweep the nation. Calvin Cofield and Kimberly Rice-Cofield can be credited for the song's production alongside Todd "Throne Muzik" Johnson, as they hold a united front and emanate purpose with great intention. As we take in the latest visuals for The Cofields' new single, "Royalty," we're awestruck by how authentic the messaging and beliefs are conveyed. Moreover, the song itself extends the Cofield mission exquisitely as the duo's understanding of how to architect a song is met with theatrical development alongside testimonials to the glory of God. Through slick bars, enticing cadences, and an undeniable confidence beaming from the screen, passion, and inspiration are abundant to feast on as "Royalty" progresses. Both Calvin and Kimberly share the spotlight at times and get their time to shine as individuals. Making family a priority, we see the love that flows from their souls as they acknowledge their mission to fulfill a prophecy no matter what challenges arise. We're also treated to angelic vocals and a contagious hook sung by award-winning producer, singer, and songwriter Luke G, which calls all nations to put aside wrongdoing and embrace righteousness. The triumphant scenes fade into one another as robust energy is driven forward, and the power of their religious beliefs is strongly instilled in each frame. From the engraved pendant around Calvin Cofield's neck, which reads Jesus Over Everything, to the strength both Calvin and Kimberly draw from one another as they show the third star of the video, their daughter Royalty, every detail down to the irresistible vocals makes sense in "Royalty." Together in faith, the Cofields family is ready to take on any challenge, reflect the Lord's majesty, and shine like jewels embedded into a crown. Welcome to BuzzMusic, The Cofields! "Royalty" has been such a treat to take in. There's so much power radiating from the energy of the video and song. What moment inspired you to make a song based on your daughter Royalty? Calvin: It all started from hearing the chorus's words while driving on the highway! I heard the words “you know you’re royalty” in 2019 before my daughter was born. But God didn’t allow us to finish the song then. God allowed us to finish the song in 2021 after we found out our baby girl Royalty, would be born. Kimberly: I actually wrote my verse at home while on maternity leave, holding my baby girl in my arms. It was during a moment of reflection on how good God is and how He always keeps His promises. The song serves as a testimonial of my journey to motherhood. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with PCOS and went through a season where it was deemed difficult to have children. However, I received prophetic Words that I would be a mother soon! After several trials and tribulations, moving to a new neighborhood, Calvin getting into a car accident that wrecked his car, and shortly afterward, my car breaking down to no avail, it was time for new beginnings. It was prophesied by the late Lady Lisa Martin first would come to the house, then the new car, then the baby. In March 2021, after much prayer and shedding many tears, we discovered we were expecting our little bundle of joy, Royalty! The promise seemed like it was delayed, but it was not denied! He brought forth Royalty for a time such as this! Hallelujah! We would love a more in-depth look into the message you're instilling in "Royalty." What would you like your audience to take away? Calvin: We would like our audience to know that they can also become a part of the royal family! The royal family is God’s family! We all can do that if we all believe in Jesus Christ! And when He becomes our Lord and our Savior, we too can be adopted into the family of God! Kimberly: My message to all listeners as they hear the testimony in this song is to hold on to the promises of God and never give up! God is faithful, and He’s never failed me yet! Keep pressing on for what God has spoken over you and your life! It doesn’t matter what the circumstances look like; they work for your good! Walk by faith and not by sight. Do you find your values placing family and faith above everything? What practices do you keep in place to keep everything balanced? Calvin: Yes, our values of family and faith come before everything because it was the foundation that started this! All we had when we first started was a Word from God, and to this day, we still operate by the Word of God! Everything He tells us to do, we do it! What was it like working with the amazing people we see in the music video for "Royalty?” Kimberly: Working with the beautiful people in the video was like working with family. One of our concepts was to show the faces of various people from different walks of life who embody Royalty. Pictured are people near and dear to us: My mother-in-love Dr. Cherie Cofield, who just recently earned her Ph.D. and owns her businesses; My best friend of over 20 years, Eva, who is a blessed, young business professional and is continually advancing in her banking and finance career. My Sister Kenosha is a gospel artist who loves to praise the Lord. Her beautiful daughter (our goddaughter), A’Niah is an actress, artist, and praise dancer; My cousin Damita is a prayer warrior and stays before the throne, shouting with a voice of triumph! We were also blessed to have more actors join us who were associated with our director Ray Knowledge, aka the Film Goat, and his crew. We’ve been honored to work with Ray on several music videos over the years. His crew stepped right in and executed, and the need was met. They served in multiple capacities, from assisting with lighting, set design, and behind-the-scenes pictures to being on camera. The singer on the chorus, Luke G, was phenomenal to work with when it came to recording his vocals, mixing, and mastering the song. He gave the song a special sound that listeners can’t help but sing along to! And last but not least, Baby Royalty made her debut in this music video at the tender age of 6 months old. She was incredible. Do you have any memorable moments from the set that you care to share? Kimberly: What was most memorable about the experience was how our family and friends gathered together and took a road trip from Detroit to Atlanta to film the video. The moment we arrived, it was time to shoot! The director arrived in advance and set everything up, and once we settled in, Kenosha did makeup for most of the women on set. Damita had also just come into town from Florida the evening before! We originally expected more people to participate in the video, but we soon realized God had sent us exactly who needed to be there. And it worked out perfectly. We successfully shot the video using the people and resources God had given us. What's next for you? Kimberly: We are working on completing our album entitled Royalty which will be released this year. We have some amazing features on the album, such as Emcee N.I.C.E., Canton and Ramona Jones, and Dillon Chase. In a few months, we plan to minister alongside our brother Da Bizzy in South Africa, whom we collaborated with on a single called Ike, which means Power! And in the summer, we will join the Gospel Hip Hop Cruise, with an opportunity to minister through music in the Bahamas. We have recently launched our Royalty Clothing line, and we are working on our TV and radio shows coming soon! Our motto: To the Nations! We will be everywhere. - Dyan Tai Celebrates Cultural And Queer Diversity In Empress 皇后
From Sydney, Australia, to the world, multi-disciplinary and queer artist Dyan Tai released their new EP "Empress 皇后" showing the best synth-pop and electronic music. Dyan Tai is a Malaysian artist who lives in Australia. Dyan Tai was trained in classical piano and violin while growing up in Malaysia, then took up vocal training in 2009 when they moved to Sydney and started producing as a DJ in 2013. Thus, Dyan Tai has a long relationship with music. Besides, this cultural mix and Dyan Tai's queer identity feed their art. Being aware of the cultural and sexual diversity of people in Australia, Dyan Tai was motivated to make music that could express that richness. Thus, they decided to create "Empress 皇后" in collaboration with fellow artists from LGBTQI+ and BIPOC communities across Australia. "Empress 皇后" is the call for an open world full of arts and love. The first track is "Do It 4 U," in collaboration with AnSo, a South-Korean experimental pop artist you can hear rapping in Korean. "Do It 4 U" is as relaxing as empowering due to its lyrics about queer love. It has dreamy instrumentals using digital piano, live guitars, and Gamelan, a South-Asian percussion instrument. Besides, you will indulge in masterful vocal skills. Then we listen to "Nightlife," where Dyan Tai's dark pop side shines. Dyan Tai sampled traditional instruments from Malaysian and Indonesian, Gamelan, and Japanese Taiko drums in a synth-pop style you would listen to during a club night. This song is full of Lady Gaga vibes with a robust South-Asian sense. It sounds like nothing you have heard before. "We Can't Forget" is a collaboration with Mindy Meng Wang 王萌, a song that reminds you that some feelings never leave, but you can grow around them, and relying on your community helps. You could describe "We Can't Forget" as an electro-ballad. It sounds emotional and nostalgic but has an upbeat rhythm, which pairs perfectly with the message. Let's dive into "Get On It," a romantic and seductive ballad that mixes synth-pop and R&B. It has an ethereal and exciting ambiance thanks to its instrumentals, including the gamelan and melodic synth notes. The rap of Jamaica Moana and Dyan Tai's sweet vocals help "Get On It" transmit a chilling but euphoric energy. Plus, the chorus is so catchy you will sing along. The flourish of "Empress 皇后" is "Unholy Monkey!" This collaboration with Salllvage is an experimental electronic track that immerses you in an Asiatic soundscape using the sounds of trip-hop and live recordings from the First Nations. It contrasts organic and digital sounds where Dyan Tai's voice makes a mysterious middle point. It is like an open ending. instagram.com/dyan_tai

- Sherie Performs With Heartfelt Hues In “Alé”
Los Angeles-based artist Sherie is an esteemed Haitian American who has exercised her artistic intentions in the realm of being a Billboard charting songwriter and master violinist, offering an eclectic twist to her creative process. Sherie's lyrics have seen the heights of a Billboard #1 chart topper with Ariana Grande’s “Positions,'' which stood as a career-defining moment for Sherie. Her ability to transform words into beautifully curated melodies ranges through several genres, including but not limited to R&B, pop, soul, urban, classic, and alternative sounds. As Sherie takes her beatific soprano tone and poetic lyrical gift to her latest single, her audience gets to take in her hit song “Alé.” Immediately greeting our speakers with the wavy essence of faded synths and pads, the lucid atmosphere is accompanied by upbeat percussion that impulsively caters to our attention. Acting as a vibrant foundation for Sherie to softly lay her elusive timbres upon, we hear a narrative unravel that touches on the unequivocal upshots of romance and desire. “Alé” is Sherie’s Haitian bid to love. Candidly rendering “Let’s Go” in Haitian Creole, the warm embrace of “Alé” is intended to push us further inwards through a journey of love in all its facets. With each word poetically performed with unalloyed sentiment running through every melody, Sherie transports us to the destination of her heartfelt croons as she sweeps us into a euphoric embrace. Amongst the brilliance in the English and French Creole lyrics, there’s a fullness in the production realm that has every moment between sounds fueled by passion. Through various inflections, pauses in the beat, and scope into reflective findings from the heart, “Alé” dances in a sparkling light of resonance, and we’re here for it. Listen to the poise radiating from Sherie’s new hit single today. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Sherie, and congratulations on the release of “Alé.” We adored listening to this song and how it directly ties into your heritage. Could you please shine a light on what inspired the concept of this single? Thank you so much. I appreciate your kind words! I started working on “Ale” with a producer named Reggie. He is amazing. He sent me the beat, and I immediately thought, this is a love bop, and I started freestyling words of “Here we go” because the tempo was fun and upbeat. I was initially going to name the song “Here We Go” because the premise of it is about not being afraid to jump into an adventure of love. Then I thought, It would be so dope to incorporate my culture into it, and instead of saying, “Here we go,” I’m gonna say “Ann Ale” in Creole, meaning, “Let's go,” and make it a whole event around an adventure of love in English and Creole. Being both a master violinist and acclaimed songwriter, what similarities and differences do you find in the creative process when you tackle each avenue? Being a violinist is a wonderful perk during my songwriting/creative process. It is a cool way to hear a different approach to melody. Whenever I did a melody pass, I would sing as if playing a violin solo or violin chords/harmonies. Then I would sing a pass as if I was singing the song live, and then I connected the two by listening back to the takes and piecing what parts sound best together to make a strong, cohesive melody/song. This process is fun because sometimes I surprise myself with what comes out. Sometimes it’s beautiful, and sometimes I challenge myself and say, “Can I beat this? Let’s try again,” and do it all over again. You have a list of career accolades that have taken you to the top of the Billboard charts. What was it like reaching that moment for you? Do you find that it changed or enhanced the way you approach your music to this day? I have been fortunate to see a song that I was a part of making it to #1 on the Billboard charts, which was very humbling. I felt very blessed to be able to create with amazing and talented people and see that the world loved it. I believe moments like that challenge and motivate us to push forward and set a new level of dreams to be reached. From that wonderful accomplishment, I have had more opportunities to work with top-name artists/producers who have been a part of my growth and approach to music. It is beautiful to hear a song you wrote five years ago and compare it to those you recently wrote because you can hear the changes in life experiences and constant practice that have made you better in your craft. It is so rewarding. What do you hope your audience can take away from the meaning of “Alé?" "Ale” is a Haitian call to love that pushes us all deeper into a journey through love in all its facets. “Ale” is the story of a woman who has taken all of her experiences that gave her fear to love and decided to let it drive her into love, taking the action to go for it and not let anything stop her. When you listen to this song, I hope you are inspired by love, not fear, and wherever your heart is taking you, “Ann Alè,” just go for it. Instagram Facebook
- Greg Hoy & The Boys Release New Music Video, "Everybody Wants To Be Somebody"
Bay-area-based Greg Hoy & The Boys are impossible not to root for as they’re the poster children for consistent, sustained promotion. After thirty-two months of challenges that many in the music industry have faced, these unfaltering rock and roll stalwarts have just returned from a successful East Coast tour and continue to write and record as they have a continued 2023 toe-curling onslaught in the plans. Devotion runs through the veins of Greg Hoy & The Boys as they’re capping off 2022 with their final music video for "Everybody Wants to Be Somebody.” Embodying trademarks reminiscent of signature rock n roll veterans like Sly and the Family Stone and Van Halen, this record is fueled with a timeless foundation, further exhibiting rock n roll is very much alive. Accompanying the hard-hitting melodies, we’re treated to enticing visuals that showcase musicians in their natural habitat. "Everybody Wants To Be Somebody” was filmed in the band's rehearsal space in Berkeley, California, and oozes the formula for old-school rock n roll. After being inspired by MTV in its debut form, Greg Hoy & The Boys filmed this one take wonder in record time. Kicking it into overdrive with a high-spirited liveliness that places an enigmatic energy in your step, the craftsmanship of this record is nothing short of excellent. With a black and white checkered pattern canvasing the wall thanks to the soundproofing and the blue and yellow color palette of the lights present, this cozy nook of a jam space exemplifies major live-off-the-floor vibrations. “Everybody Wants to Be Somebody” has that melt-your-face-off type of vigor that runs through every melody shed, and that goes for the messaging associated with the song, which delivers unalloyed truth, no matter how cold it may seem. Plus, there’s something extremely impressive about seeing each artist master their respective craft as an individual and then come together to express it as a collective which has us fanning over the roots of the music that are very apparent in how Greg Hoy & The Boys execute their sound. As lyrics flood the screen and you get to hang on to each word crooned that much longer, this approach embeds itself into your memory. With each step Greg Hoy & The Boys take, there’s passion intertwined within the meticulous moves. Wowing us yet again with another authentic representation of who they are; we’re eager to see what 2023 brings. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Greg Hoy & The Boys, and congratulations on releasing your latest music video for “Everybody Wants to Be Somebody.” We’re thrilled that you could fit in another music video before the year finishes. Creating this on a whim, what were the thoughts and energy like all around? We were about to go on our last tour of the year, which was too many of our favorite spots in California. The video itself was recorded in one take - just us rehearsing. It felt like the right move. My opinion of lyric videos goes back and forth. We've put out a few over the years. The analog, frenetic style of this one seemed to be interesting enough to keep my attention over multiple hours of editing (and that's not an easy feat!). Plus, I got to use my 1950's Olivetti Italian Typewriter. Did you grow up watching MTV? How did it influence your sound and how you carry yourself as a musician? MTV came to cable later in my small town in Western Pennsylvania. Growing up in a conservative era, videos were considered by many religious folks in my community to be just about as awful as pornography. Artists like Madonna, George Michael, Robert Palmer, and many more packed a lot of bare skin and sex into a three-minute music movie. And I loved it! This was the era of the PMRC (look it up!) Friends would VHS tape (!) hours of MTV to watch it again at parties. I'm not sure how much it influenced me directly as a musician. It made me want to play guitar to help me talk to girls. What are your favorite things about creating a visual component to go with a song? Do you find the creative processes vastly different from one another? Every single one creates an opportunity to make an accompanying visual story. Sometimes, they are more obvious than others, especially if the lyrical content lends itself to a particular video style. My creative mojo is rarely, if ever, satisfied. I'm the type that can spend an hour tweaking a snare drum sound. If the internet is to be believed, 'Art is never finished, only abandoned' is something Leonardo da Vinci once said, and who am I to argue with a guy that kept himself that busy? Let’s get into the song's messaging. What are you hoping your audience can take away from this record? 'Are you making time for the right thing?' We are in the throes of an existential crisis of proportions never realized. Runaway capitalism needs constant growth to sustain itself. This clashes with our planet's finite, fragile nature. Our species hurls itself into oblivion and seems to be taking all the rest of life on this planet with it. The line 'Everybody wants to be somebody they're not' has a double meaning. The first is maybe the more obvious: the twisting, manipulating, and distorting we all do base on some vague false belief that other people's opinions matter or maybe, that the AI wants to own even more of your face. Deep down inside, the more subtle, significant meaning is that all of us feel that we could collectively be doing more to stop the freight train of extinction we're beginning to witness. And that feeling might be worth exploring together. What if we all agreed we want to be something better, something we're not... right now? What if we stopped swiping, clocking in, working (to quote the great Dolly Parton) 9 to 5, and instead really opened our hearts to change the future? What words of inspiration would you like to leave your fans with going into 2023? Explore Metta meditation. It's one of the greatest gifts I've ever received... and given. Instagram Facebook

Listen to "Come to LA" on all streaming platforms and watch it become a new favorite. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Giselle! Congratulations on the release of your latest single, “Come to LA.” We love the power that you place into a record of this caliber, all while keeping your composed and genuine demeanor. What was your inspiration behind the creative approach? Thanks so much, and thanks for having me here again! I'm so glad you like the song. To answer your question, this song came to me in a dream. There was no inspiration except for what I heard and saw in my dream. I know that sounds wild, but every part of this song that I hear is the exact thing I heard. In my dream, I was performing this song on a big stage. I woke up quickly, grabbed my phone, and sang it while I ran to my music room to get my notebook. I grabbed my guitar and recorded a rough demo of the song. That's the story behind it! Do you often base your lyrics on lived experiences or fictitious ones? My lyrics often stem from both. Some songs have lyrics that express a struggle I went through or something great that happened to me, while other songs contain lyrics that aren't my life experience but just fiction. Taking a liking to music at such a young age, was there a particular moment that inspired you to pursue your dream of being a musician? This was just always my dream. I wouldn't say there was an exact moment that led to it... it was just natural for me. But I had some performances as a young child in front of big crowds that solidified for me that this was what I was meant to do. Even at the age of 27 now. I still have those amazing moments. What are you hoping that your listeners feel when taking in “Come to LA”? I hope they feel happiness, a sense of adventure, and excitement and take away from this song whatever they feel suits them best. Yes, the song is constructed in a story of love, but the song can also symbolize taking that big leap in your life, pushing for your goals, and stopping waiting and just doing! What’s next for you? A lot! The music video for "Come to LA" will be out next month; I will release one more single and then a project that I've been working on for a while! I can't wait to share that. I will also be doing a cross-country tour in the Summer of 2024 and, hopefully, a small California tour in the summer of 2023. Instagram

Nolen of The Star Prairie Project collaborates with musicians worldwide to create his dynamic and palpable tunes. This time, he's teamed up with the stylings of guitarist Ricardo Dikk and vocalists Marcello Vieira and Sandrine Orsini to bring us Fight Or Flight, a fiery new album that examines the world's current state of chaos. "Regardless of the album's name, the message is: fight. The earth, or our existence, is not like a sinking ship. We can't abandon it," explains Chew. From rising gas and food prices to the ongoing wars and social and political friction, brace yourself for the needed reality checks in The Star Prairie Project's new album. The record bursts open with an aptly-named intro track, "Reality Check Time," waving the speakers with an 80s progressive rock vibe packed with crunchy guitars and Rush-Esque sci-fi synths. Marcello Vieira's ferocious vocals and fiery instrumentals perfectly convey the situation's urgency. It's a head-banging blazer of a track that kicks off this necessary album with heat. Moving into "Visions Of War," this chilling yet mind-blowing track is perhaps a perfect representation of The Star Prairie Project's picture-painting tunes. It's another dynamic yet slightly melancholy song that transitions from pain and suffering to full-on anguish with Dikk's flaming guitars and Vieira and Orsini's haunting background vocals. Something we all know and love, "Sweet Revenge," blasts through the speakers on track number three. The Star Prairie Project kicks off this song on a radiant note with melodic progressive rock instrumentation that shifts into this sweet-sounding anthem that might leave you chanting. The energy is high in this track, and we love what The Star Prairie Project has brought to the table thus far. Upping the soul and passion is track four, "My Freedom," piercing the speakers with Dikk's shimmering electric guitar and Vieira's crooning vocals, expressing his love and need for freedom. The song's hook is one of the most powerful choruses we've heard to date, and the seamless transitions into the verse and bridge perfectly showcase Marcello Vieira's musical dexterity and prowess. Slowing things down is the album's fifth track, "Thinking About You," slowly melting through the speakers with soothing background vocals and tender keys. The anticipation is heavy in this track, and the foreboding drums alongside Vieira and Orsini's vocals deliver a profound sense of passion and lust. Nonetheless, The Star Prairie Project ramps up the energy to feed us their gripping rock sounds. Landing on the album's sixth track and halfway point, "It All Starts With You," The Star Prairie Project scorches our speakers with fierce electric guitar riffs, thumping bass licks, robust drums, and Vieira's menacing vocal delivery. This track is a harsh reminder that all of us are responsible for the world going to shit. We made this mess, and The Star Prairie Project is screaming at us to clean it up. The album's seventh track, "The Landing," opens on more of a haunting and melancholy sound with somber background pads, lush guitar picking, and Vieira's breathy and velvety vocals that are abruptly interrupted by Dikk's powerful guitar. The song quickly transitions into this fiery hellscape that ironically reminds us not to be afraid of what lies ahead. Falling into a daze with the eighth track, "Welcome To Their World," we're greeted with hazy electric guitars and pounding drums that catapult us into next year. Vieira's raspy and powerful vocals sound like he's caught right in the middle of battle, and we could say the same about the entire track. It's an unnerving peek into the hellscape we've created, where the poor get poorer, and the rich get richer. Hail "To The King," says Vieira on track number nine. The Star Prairie Project delivers yet another chant-worthy anthem that dances the line between fantasy and reality, with pounding instrumentals and a sweltering atmosphere like no other. The Star Prairie Project has no problem bringing a sense of urgency to each of its tracks, but this one might take the cake. As an array of sizzling guitars pour in from the background, track number ten, "Time To Run," pumps through the speakers with heat. Vieira brings that familiar urgency while Orsini ups the soul with her killer vocals, adding a dynamic back and forth that leaves us hooked. If they've made anything clear, The Star Prairie Project wants you to know the time to fight your battles is now. Continuing the energy is the album's eleventh track, "By My Side," taking a more melodic and soulful route that leaves us searching for the dancefloor. Each time Vieira and Orsini take the wheel together this album has been incredibly refreshing, and their back-and-forth is truly captivating. This song is an anthem for the ride or dies, promising to be by your side until the end. Reaching the album's twelfth and final track, "The Rain Is Falling," we shift into a more emotional and peaceful sound with lush acoustic guitar melodies and Orsini's silky vocals. This feels like a song of acceptance and surrendering to the chaos abound, bracing yourself for battle and, hopefully, the better days that follow. It's a beautiful outro track with heavy Led Zeppelin vibes, closing the album with a bang. If there's anything to take away from The Star Prairie Project's latest album, the time to fight is now. To make a better world for ourselves and our children, staring adversity dead in the face is the first step. Congratulations on releasing your recent album, Fight Or Flight. What inspired you to create such a detailed album about the chaotic current times and fighting for humanity? The idea behind 'Fight or Flight' was to capture the last few years' chaos, confusion, and anxiety. We wanted the music to be powerful and intense from the first note to the last and invite the listener to strap in for a wild, bumpy, tumultuous ride. Once we started working on the album, we noticed certain trends in the first couple of songs, a certain energy that revealed itself that wasn't abated yet. So we decided to go with it, sort of speak, and by the time we were a half or dozen songs into the project, we were on a roll. It's like the album's message is self-evident to all of us, but like a bad dream, we keep pushing ourselves deeper into it as we thrash around, trying to escape. When I listen to the album, in the end, I'm exhausted. but at the same time, I'm purged and relieved. How does the album Fight or Flight differ from your previous album, 'Shine A Little Light?' What are the core differences between these two meaningful projects? Shine a Little Light was more of a compilation than a concept album. It featured a compilation of styles, genres, and artists. We had a large sample of songs and wove them all together. Fight or Flight was a concept album from the beginning. We were trying to capture the current world disorder and discord through Rock music. It's not that musical artists aren't writing songs reflecting the moment in time. It's that we hadn't noticed any deliberate attempts to capture the emotion and confusion through a series of interrelated songs and movements. When you string together the songs in a deliberate sequence, a unique personality and message emerge. In the age of Spotify playlists, this is a return to the art of the concept album. Having said that, the songs stand independently, and several will do well on radio and playlists. What was your experience working alongside Marcello Vieira, Sandrine Orsini, and Ricardo Dikk when creating 'Fight or Flight?' What was that collaboration like? It's always a pleasure working with Marcello, Dikk, and Sandrine. They all live in Portugal and have known each other for years. They are talented musicians, and the four form a creative force. Our music is growing in depth and breadth and continuously pushing the limits. We are never afraid to try something different or explore a sound we like from one of our personal musical influences. They are all very busy professionals, session musicians, and members of their own bands and gigs. I'm thrilled to have them as integral parts of TheStarPrairieProject. We work together very well, and the product of our work is a quality sound that I'm so proud to be a part of. Is there a specific song from Fight Or Flight that you feel represents the album best? Which song makes the album complete? Actually, there are several songs on 'Fight or Flight' that represent the theme of the concept album well. 'Reality Check Time,' 'Time To Run,' and 'Visions of War' nail the message home. Normalcy, as we knew it, is gone. We live in a post-factual world where logic and reasoning are being usurped by tribalism, conspiracy, and chaos. Political, social, and cultural wars are heaped on top of actual shooting wars. It's a mess, and there doesn't seem to be a way out. This creates fear and anxiety. We all feel confused and helpless at times. We just want to run and hide and return to the world we once knew as normal. 'Fight or Flight captures all those energies and allows our psyches to process them through the music. I think the song 'The Rain is Falling' complete's the album on an ambivalent note. Yes, the storm is ongoing, and the skies are grey, but the sunshine's above the clouds, and everything is temporary in this ephemeral world. Afterward, it's cathartic, all be it, exhausting. It's our lives in the 2020s. What was your goal when creating 'Fight Or Flight?' What was the core message you wanted to convey to listeners? The goal of the album is to wake people up. To look around at our world and become conscious of what is happening around us. 'Fight or Flight' trumpets that the world order as we know it is teetering and crumbling before our eyes. While too many remain oblivious to this fact, there's no denying that human civilization has faced the gravest challenges since World War II. To make matters worse, these challenges are hitting us in all possible directions. As if we weren’t busy enough dealing with the accelerating climate change, environmental degradation, and flora and fauna extinction, we’re also batting political and social discord unforeseen in many western nations … until recently. As consumer goods and gas prices are soaring due to the war in Ukraine, the poor become poorer, and the rich become richer. It’s unintentional, but we’re creating a fertile recruiting ground for street gangs and organized crime – the riot squads have never been busier. The earth, or our existence, is not like a sinking ship. We can’t abandon it. If it goes down, we’ll go down with it. The orbit has no lifeboats. Our survival depends now on our response, and the response has to be imminent. Instagram Facebook
