Interview: London King Opens Up About How She Remains A Versatile Artist In "DNA"

Your story and journey is one that fills listeners with hope and drive. You’ve dedicated yourself fully to music. When did you decide that music was what you wanted to do with your life?

Thank you for having me! I wanted to be a performer since I was 4. I used to be part of a children's theatre company, and every time I got to be on stage, I felt powerful, and I know many young artists feel that way too. When I started writing my own music at age 11, I knew already what I wanted to be and where I wanted to be. Looking back now, it's been a hell of a journey and certainly one I will never forget.

Your single "DNA" is such a powerful song both lyrically and in its composition. What inspired you to write this song?

Dating life in a big city like London inspired me to write a song like this. Also, the capability to feel never enough for that special person shows you what love is with the simplest gestures. There are a lot of people scared of love; the bottom line is it can truly save you.

You are a very versatile artist with the ability to make music of many different genres. "Bite Me" is very different from your solo project. Who are some of your musical inspirations?

Queen, specifically Freddie Mercury, is one of my biggest inspirations.  Followed by David Bowie, Madonna, George Michael and many more. I love mixing genres and sounds. Music is a language, you can have fun with it, and that's the whole point of being an artist. It's not an absolute concept; it's no math formula. It's pure creativity and imagination.

You stay very busy and have multiple projects in the works. How do you balance your life between musical projects and writing?

One inspires the other. Writing songs and writing novels/poems it's a very similar things. Both are a journey; only songs and poems have fewer words. It overwhelms me sometimes, I must say. Keeping up with various storylines as well is never easy, but I adore every second of it. Sometimes I go straight into editing my novel after finishing a song.

Do you have any music news or updates that you'd like to share with us and your fans?

Dear loves, I know you all ask me when my next project will come out. I must say, you'll have to wait next year, as this project is bigger and better. In terms of nearer future, expect a literary surprise. Also, watch out for Solaris International Deluxe, which will drop out when you least expect it.
