  • The Good Dudes Bring The Rock Energy With New Album “Ready For It”

The Good Dudes is a high energy band with a nostalgia that reminds audiences of simpler times. Their debut album, “Ready for It,” is a prime collection of the heart and soul vibe the southern Louisiana band loves. The lyrics of Myles Migl (Frontman) bear the honesty of soul heroes like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, and are sung to addicting melodies that encourage the listener to sing along with every line. Catchy guitar and horn riffs from Brennan Frederick (Lead Guitar) and Ryan Vicknair (Trumpet) paired with the rock-solid rhythm section of Ben Richards (Drums), Chanie Bernard (Bass), and Tyler Thibodeaux (Keys) make the perfect support for the message Migl conveys in every line. The band is known for its electric live experience featuring a string section and gospel choir, which debuted to a sold-out theater crowd at the “Ready for It” release show. “Ready For It” as the title track and an opener lays out the vocal depth and the blues-rock rhythms in a manner that keeps your focus on the concept and the progression of the ideas. Meanwhile, this raw rock ambiance drives a certain sense of escapism in the way that a live show from a classic band might. “Give Me One Chance” follows the opener and injects way more personality into the mix. A fruitful guitar line kicks things off and a subsequently rhythmic vocal. The simplicity reigns once more and breathes a certain theme or mood into the project. A second listen lets the story-line sink in a little more poignantly. “Suspense” adds an element of brightness in terms of the musical mood. The melody captivates as a few notes rise and fall back down to layout the personal story-line. A hint of lightness follows later and helps build an interesting structure. “Use Me” afterward leads with more entrancing riffs and quickly captures your affection for its fine balancing between the quick and the mellow. An easy favorite for the simple yet still huge hook section. The simplicity allows for creative freedoms with smooth guitar and punching vocals. “Make Me Feel” is another highlight for the contrast between the secure rhythm of the riff and the beat with the steady pace of the vocal creates something easily memorable and quite classic feeling. Again, the lyrics seem to hit less intensely than the general vibe of the music, but with a second listen you start to form those connections! “Sweet Heat” comes into the mix with a funky, soulful guitar. As the horn and percussion sections move it, we’re graced with a bluesy, sultry vocal to take us further into this seductive track. “Morning Light” features emotional vocals to paint a soundscape in your mind, The Good Dudes allows the listener to escape into an alternate reality and live in the music. “Crash” changes the pace of the album, with light guitar strumming and a simple melody. The vocals are perfectly suiting the sentiments and light-hearted aura of this song. At the very end of the collection, “Play By The Rules” showcases and unpredictable and immersive, upbeat track. Structurally each section works well towards holding tight to your attention until the very finish. A great way to go out, superb guitar work yet again and an overall enjoyable, entertaining piece of music and performance. The Good Dudes’ sound as it stands today is easy to spot. There’s plenty of individuality in the approach, and just enough familiarity to appeal to the rock outcasts who crave that original, authentic aura. “Ready For It” is a strong release start to finish. We can’t wait to hear more! Check out “Ready For It” here and read more with The Good Dudes below! Hi guys! Can you start by introducing yourselves to our readers? How did you come up with the band name The Good Dudes? How did your band come to fruition? Hi, thanks for having us! Myles Migl (frontman) started The Good Dudes with Benjamin Richards (drums/vocals) in 2015, originally as a trio. Brennan Frederick (lead guitar) started off as a fan of the band and we met at a local music store where he was working. He'd ask all the time if he could jam with the trio sometime, and I always said that if there were ever another guitar player, it would be him, but I still had my mindset on the smaller band. He didn't let up and eventually, we got together, played some music, and after the first rehearsal that we brought him and Tyler Thibodeaux (keys) in, it was a done deal. For one of the first shows we played as a larger group, we added on a horn section led by Ryan "Vick" Vicknair (trumpet) and he's now a key part of the band as well. Once we had the 6-piece core group, we started polishing up the songs we had up to this point and getting them ready to take into the studio. The name was more given to the band as opposed to us coming up with it, it actually came about from this phrase that was spread amongst our friend group. When someone did them a favor they'd jokingly say "You're a good dude." Several friends just started calling the group of us "the good dudes" and it stuck. What’s the overall theme of your album “Ready For It”? Each of the songs is a different phase of a relationship, different situations we find ourselves in searching for love. It seemed fitting to name the album after a song that held a double meaning for us - the lyrical story being told in the song, and a more spiritual meaning for the band. A year and a half's work went into this collection of songs (and more to come), and as the excitement and anticipation built while we were crafting these songs, a common sentiment between band members was "Man, I'm ready." We're ready to share our vision and sound with the world. What’s the meaning behind your track “Crash”? How do you want the listener to feel when they hear it? Crash is vow of commitment; the 'ring-on-the-left-hand, signature-on-the-dotted-line' song of the album. It follows the journey of a relationship from hesitant beginnings to the powerful assurance of one's commitment beyond just the ephemeral, casual fling. Musically, we wanted the arrangement to illustrate what that journey and leap of faith sounds and feels like. It builds all the way from a simple, lone acoustic guitar to a full on orchestral climax towards the end. It's the climax of the movie, the top of the mountain, the triumph - it's an emotional peak of the album. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? -Live is definitely the best way to experience the songs, we’ve always got some surprises in store at the show. Other than that, anywhere where you want to put some good vibes in the room is a great place to listen. We aim to create a setting where people can forget about the crazy and stressful things going on in their lives and focus on the most important thing we have - love. Whether it's a party, a commute to work, a more intimate evening, there's at least one song on the album that people can relate to. What are your main aspirations as a group going forward? Our main aspiration is always going to be living up to the mission we stated earlier, it's about other people - helping create a setting where people can let loose, have a good time, and forget about the daily stresses of life. We make music because we love sharing it with a community of people that want to share it too. The comment about our show we hear the most is, "You guys look like you're having a blast up there!" and we aim to keep it that way so that everyone who listens to the music and comes to the live shows leaves feeling electrified and happier than when they showed up. Sharing that feeling with as many people as possible is the dream. How did you know you wanted to start making music? Hey guys my name is Jesse my stage name Jesse aka Meeks and I’m an artist from Toronto, Canada. Okay, so the day I knew I wanted to become a performer was the weekend before my elementary school dance. I was in grade 5 or 6 and I was practicing to memorize my favourite song at the time to see if I could perform at my school dance. That was the first time I ever got lost in music. Nothing else mattered to me, I think I fell in love for the first time in my life (hahah). I never did end up performing at the dance but that’s when I knew I wanted to perform music as a career. “Good Vibes” is a great track! What’s this song represent for you? Okay, so this song is the main single/self-titled track from my debut album Good Vibes. It represents positive, safe and happy sensations, living life to its fullest, spending a weekend with friends and family, things of that nature. I actually didn’t even write this song, all I wrote was my verse. My best friend and label mate JusOne actually gave me the song cause he thought it would be a good fit for my album, and it definitely was! What was the inspiration behind the music video and where was it filmed? The idea for this music video was simple. Bring GOOD VIBES to life! We drove up to Wasaga Beach like 2 hours north of the city to shoot the video on my birthday weekend, which is also Canada’s day long weekend. I know the beaches get packed around this time of the year and I knew it would look dope on camera. Shout out to my videographer Alex Christidis and Space Calvary Studios for capturing Good Vibes in visual form! What can you tell us about your upcoming album? This album is me in an audio format. This album is 4 years in the making and it means everything to me. It’s a clear representation of me, what I think in my head, how I feel, who I am, when I’m in love, where I belong, why am I here, plus a bunch more. It’s about my growth as an artist and as a person in general. I want the listeners to know who I am as a person as I enter my career into the music industry. My debut album is set to release September 27th, 2019 on all streaming services. What would be your dream venue to perform? My dream venue to perform at doesn’t exist yet. It’s actually something that I want to set up. I want to headline my own festival in the near future. That would be my dream show to perform at I guess. It can be at any outdoor venue or amphitheater. Connect with Jesse Aka Meeks: www.instagram.com/jesseakameeks www.twitter.com/jesseakameeks www.facebook.com/jesseakameekz #BuzzMusic

  • Dxadpoxt Tells Us The Raw Truth In New EP “A Tragedy Of Love”

Based in Vancouver, talented artist dxadpoxt has returned after taking almost a decade away from music. He has returned with the goal of creating music that forces his listeners to take a look at the world they are living in. dxadpoxt makes music that intersects somewhere between hip-hop, rap, R&B, trap, and neo-soul. “A Tragedy of Love” is dxadpoxt’s latest EP we’re bumping through the office. The project follows the trials and tribulations of two lovers - where one is self-destructive. He encourages his partner to leave, only to realize that he cannot live without her. The pain of being apart forces him to make a decision to free himself. However, he soon discovers that his choice has only made it much worse. The project carries a synth-wave alternative R&B/Hip hop vibe driven by heavy bass, melodic keys, and impassioned lyrics. “Talk To Me” starts off with a heart-wrenching phone call to introduce us to the main theme and concept of the EP. Showcasing both a passion for music and a clear skill for story-telling, dxadpoxt leads with “Save Yourself”. Featuring impressive, unique musicianship, a spacious aura, and a string of lyrics that hold close to a poetic and deeply thoughtful writing style. “Save Yourself” is a truly selfless track with nothing but good intentions to avoid further pain. “Sorry” is another pleading phone call to highlight the emotion and heartbreaking feelings that went into creating this EP. As “A Tragedy of Love” transitions into “Miss Me”, there are as many moments of rhythmically entrancing bars as there are of satisfying and memorable melodies. All of this kicks in without the need for unnecessary gimmicks or quirks. “Call Me Back” is the moment where the female on the other end of the phone switches us and wants to try and work on things. After the ups and downs and emotional turmoil, “Love A Ghost” is a hard-hitting and impressive response. A heavy beat and dark, intentional lyrical substance with endlessly engaging content. “A Tragedy of Love” is truly creative and expressive as a whole, yet each track presents a completely new series of moments. Dxadpoxt is a versatile and faultlessly skillful artist. He expertly creates real music, unpredictable and new, yet entertaining and raw at the very same time. I highly recommend you listen to “A Tragedy Of Love” here and keep reading for more with dxadpoxt! What was the main concept behind this project? A Tragedy of Love is a concept EP about the darker side of love. The project follows the story of two lovers - where one is self-destructive. Knowing that his self-destruction will eventually destroy them both he forces his partner to leave, only to realize that he cannot live without her. The pain of being apart drives him to make a decision to free himself from the torment of longing. However, he soon discovers that his choice has only made it much worse. The EP carries a retro synth-wave alternative r&b/hip-hop vibe inspired by the 80s and driven by heavy bass, melodic keys, and impassioned lyrics. The story traverses the three songs on the EP and uses short interludes at the beginning of each song to create an almost cinematic experience. Can you dive into details about the lyricism in “Love A Ghost”? The concept of whether love can transcend the limitations of the physical world is something I have often thought about. This track allowed me to explore this concept through music. As the final track on the EP, 'Love A Ghost' is written from the perspective of the main character postmortem. It is an opportunity for the character to justify his decision and acknowledge his mistake from beyond the grave. He explains that he thought taking his own life would free him from the pain of longing - only to admit that it hasn't. Instead, he is now trapped forever longing for his partner's love. He references the movie Ghost suggesting that he has become Patrick Swayze and that she is his Demi Moore, acknowledges that she tried to save him (a nod to track one) and commits to 'working it out' when they meet again on the other side. The second verse also makes reference to Pamela Courson - the long-term companion of Jim Morrison (the singer of The Doors). Jim Morrison has long been an inspiration to me and I have always wondered about the true nature of his death - as he was found unresponsive in a Paris hotel bathtub. The inclusion of these lyrics allowed me to both pay homage to his influence on me as a poet and musician, while also calling into question the truth of his demise. Both the Ghost and Doors references mirror the experiences of the characters in A Tragedy of Love. The song ends with the line "it's how it had to be, our love the realist tragedy," encapsulating the two major themes across the project. The first, the main character's belief that he had little to no control over the way in which things turned out. Throughout the EP the character questions his agency - believing that he and his love have always been cursed. The second, that despite all that has happened their love was real. Which in some sense, makes it all worth it. What do you hope your fans take away from your music and this album specifically? I just want people to feel something. To feel anything. Love is such an incredible human emotion - it is the essence of our existence. However, with love comes vulnerability and the potential for immense pain. This album is meant to explore the many experiences of love - from passion to heartbreak. It tells a story that most of us can relate to in some way. I hope people connect with the sounds and find a piece of themselves somewhere in the project. What's next for you through the end of 2019? At the end of October I will be performing the EP at Vancity Street Week - a three-day underground fashion show in Vancouver - as well as exploring other opportunities to perform. Besides that I will continue to spend time at the studio working on my upcoming album and committing as much time and energy as possible to music. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be creative, and for every single person who takes the time to listen to my music and support my art. Thank you all. • Premiere: Notche Keeps Things Refreshing With New Track “Temptin”

Notche is not only a prodigy, but he is also the most sought-after music producer in the African diaspora. Coming from a religious musical background, he was always drawn to orchestrating music. He began his journey in music production at age 16 and received his first job as a music producer for Ten Town Records. Notche has had the opportunity to produce for top musicians, including Denver's own hip-hop star Trev Rich which allowed him to take his creativity to the next level. Notche has also worked on projects for Atlantic Records, Comcast, VH1, and with megastars such as DMX, Tank, Alvarito Solo, and Fabolous, Maino, Roc Nation, "The Producer", is finally making his mark in the music industry and is ready to let the world listen to his unique sound. “Temptin” is addictively melodic, bursting through from the offset with that smooth vocal line. Underneath all of this, a mildly tropical, near-dance-hall style beat keeps an uplifting pace about the soundscape, offering something that feels partly nostalgic but quite clearly also fresh in terms of the writing and the artist presenting it. “Temptin” is an Afroswing track you can’t help but enjoy. That hook settles in from the start, and every time it reappears it further seals the deal – you’ll likely walk away singing that moment or at the very least having it run through your mind. “Temptin” has this effect without being intrusive or overly attention-seeking. Notche has delivered a fairly low-key, humble song, with a sense of fun and simplicity to the lyrics, and within this, his voice and the strength of the melodic development work their magic with ease. Listen to “Temptin” by Notche here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey Notche! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell us about your upbringing? I'm the oldest child of 3. Raised by 2 Congolese parents so a lot of that culture is in me. I had the opportunity to live in different cities like Montreal, New York, and Denver so I have a versatile background. How did you get started in music? I got into the music from church, I was a drummer, I played in church for 16 years. I got into music production around my junior year in High School. my cousin Yahh started rapping and I was messing around on his laptop until I was able to make some decent beats. Can you dive into details about the lyricism in “Temptin”? What inspired this song? Tempting! I like that record lol my music is based on real-life experience. I was talking to this super hot girl on IG, I'm talking about a certified dime. We would FaceTime, talk on the phone exchange text but we never really had time to meet because we both lived in different states. One day I flew into Orlando and her I happened to be about 30 minutes away from each other. I called an uber and went straight to her. While I was in the uber I came up with this song. BTW that woman is exceptional. How would you describe your genre of music? My genre of music is a mix of a lot of sounds. There's hip-hop, soul, RNB, Jazz, Congolese rumba, Afro beats the Caribbean. I one point I called my music CCT- Congolese Caribbean Trap. That's why it's so hard for me to find the right production so I always end up producing it myself. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? For this upcoming project, I would say, you can listen to my music on a beach, in your car, around the house while you're cooking or cleaning. What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? At the end of the day, I want to be able to relate a message within my music. Whether its love, pain, violence, hope or faith. I want the listeners to always be able to relate to me. www.twitter.com/hollywoodnite www.instagram.com/Notche_

  • Chloé Caroline Delivers New SoCal Sound With “Forgive Me”

Hailing from the shores of Manhatten Beach, California, Chloé Caroline grew up with music all her life. Her father was a gifted musician and filmmaking, this instilled the love of the art-form in Chloé. A student of human behavior, Chloé Caroline has been writing songs for as long as she can remember. She strives to create a poetic journey that her listeners can relate to and find comfort within. Her “New SoCal Sound” is credited to her authentic melancholic vocal resonance and the ability to combine old school influences with a refreshing and contemporary indie-pop twist. She has released 1 EP and 6 singles independently and all have been selected as iTunes “Hot Tracks”. The fourth single to be released off of her upcoming album 'Gypsy Daughter', “Forgive Me” is an honest and introspective track. It focuses on the importance of mental health and sheds light on the fact that we are all human. Chloé Caroline creates a solid foundation for her listeners to relate and form connections. She spread the message that it’s okay to have hard days, it’s okay to be in a “gray area” some days, and most importantly, you are not alone. A truly powerful release from an artist with the platform and reach to spread awareness. Chloé Caroline believes in being a beacon of positivity and inner light when sometimes we struggle to find our own. We highly recommend you listen to the track here and check out the music video below! Welcome back to BuzzMusic Chloé Caroline! Tell us about the concept behind your new music video for “Forgive Me”? Thank you!! I wanted the video to be simple but symbolic of the different emotional shades we have as human beings. I am 98% of the time a happy go lucky chick, an optimist, and try to be a light around others. But depending on the day, I can falter from that. I wanted to use the irony of being covered up in all black on the most perfect day at the beach to show how sometimes our emotions don't always make sense, sometimes they don't even have a trigger but it's part of being human. It's also really difficult in a society where mental health is still so stigmatized to publicly be able to show and share our weakest moments--so I felt like shooting this outside was imperative. Did you hone your vocal style over time or have you always had a natural ability to sing with such passion? First off, thank you for the compliment! I have always tried to sing from the heart. I usually end up singing because I'm emotional and it's a release for me so it can be easy for the passion to come through. I've never really taken lessons. However, it took a lot of singing in the studio and at shows to figure out the best part of my voice and how to make those nuances shine. Character is everything in vocal so figuring out who I was as a person helped me feel like I could just be me when performing. You're just conveying stories at the end of the day. “Forgive Me” has a strong lyrical depth to it! Do you always write in this manner? Do you ever worry about divulging too much through your songwriting? Or do you think it’s better to be vulnerable? For me, vulnerability is key to getting real with your listeners and getting the message out there honestly. I'm kind of a lyric stickler though, mainly because it's a representation of who I am so i need to believe what I'm saying. They don't always need to be 100% factual word for word my life, you can take liberties and fictionalize the character or scenario but I need to be able to put myself in the lyric for it to come off authentic. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? Is it fair to say, everywhere! But honestly, I think your car is an ideal place because so many of my songs I feel like have a "driving down the freeway" vibe or singing your heart out vibe. My favorite setting to play for people though is small, intimate venues where I can be almost one on one with everyone in the room. I want everyone to listen and know they are never alone in what they're going through. They are amazingly unique but they are understood. I want each person, no matter age, race, sex, etc. to find a through-line they can hold on to. What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? I want to share my music with as many people as possible, globally. I want to meet the incredible people who choose to listen to my songs and tell them they are incredible. And beyond that, I want to continue to make music that is fresh and real with all sorts of different creators so I can continue to grow and share that growth in a beautiful way that hopefully speaks to people. www.chloecaroline.com www.facebook.com/chloecarolinemusic www.twitter.com/imchloecaroline www.instagram.com/chloecaroline #BuzzMusic

  • Premiere: Elisabeth Beckwitt Is So Much More Than “Lovely” In Her Brand New Single

From her childhood in Lexington, MA to adulthood in Nashville, TN, Elisabeth Beckwitt has battled anxiety, depression, and addiction. Elisabeth pairs her clear, powerful voice with an unapologetically supportive attitude towards her tribe and weaves them together into relatable stories with encapsulating melodies that build an intimate connection with her audience. With her latest EP, 'Indigo,' Beckwitt is showing us the kind of life we can expect to find on the other side of recovery. You can catch Elisabeth playing shows locally in Nashville and touring regionally throughout 2019 to promote her upcoming releases. “I have become so much stronger over the past few years and am finally embracing my power as a woman. A big part of that is letting myself get angry, something I have struggled with throughout my whole life. Anger is seen as a negative, but sometimes it is the fuel we need to start the fire. To make a change. To stop shaming ourselves for having a different version of womanhood. To embrace our own power. To stop blaming ourselves for someone else’s weakness.” - Elisabeth Beckwitt Elisabeth’s brand new track “Lovely” is her launch into a more dark-pop aura. The opening bars are quite beautiful, the melody and the distant drone of distortion are mesmerizing. This ambiance is actually a total pleasure to witness as it kicks up. Then after about a minute, the peacefulness is interrupted by an injection of darkness and mild chaos. The energy levels are never quite the same, but the central thread reappears and remains constant. When the thicker beat hits, things fall into a totally new groove, and actually the track becomes even more energizing and immersive. Elizabeth’s vocals are hard-hitting and to the point, her empowering stance is contagious and motivating. It’s a superb way to highlight the power of music and the great effect atmospheric elements can have. I highly recommend you give “Lovely” a listen here and read more with Elisabeth Beckwitt below! Hi Elisabeth! For those who don’t know, how would you describe your sound and your approach to songwriting? Hi! Thanks so much for having me! I am an indie-pop artist, and with each new project, my sound is changing and developing into something better. My producer, Jason “Fresh” Threm of TME, really stepped it up a level for this record and drew inspiration from the dark pop movement. We gathered so much momentum after the last project and had been co-writing all these truly deep and meaningful songs. I try to write "pop with integrity" and shine a light on the darker side of life, and it has been brilliant writing with a producer who appreciates that. “Lovely” seems to have a diverse lyrical depth to it! What was the writing process like for this track? Thank you! I have become so much stronger over the past few years and am finally embracing my power as a woman. A big part of that is letting myself get angry, something I have struggled with throughout my whole life. Tapping into my anger while writing this song was therapeutic for me. Anger is seen as a negative, but sometimes it is the fuel we need to start the fire. To make a change. To stop shaming ourselves for having a different version of womanhood. I came into the writing session for Lovely knowing that I needed to get my frustration at the world out through lyrics and song. What is the meaning behind the lyrics? What do you hope your fans and new listeners take away from it? So often women are talked about with adjectives like ‘pretty’ and ‘lovely’ instead of ‘brilliant’ and ‘powerful.’ It’s hard to feel like the movement is moving forward when someone is giving you two sides of themselves; telling you they support you while making you feel small. This song is calling out men who hide behind little comments and microaggressions instead of putting in the real work to value and appreciate women. This song oozes with power and is a representation of the entire women’s movement. “You call it progress then proceed to oppress...Is it our time yet?” With everything that’s been coming to light in recent years, there is an opportunity to progress and I think this song is my way of playing a small part in that. Who or what would you say inspires you the most, creatively? Social justice and emotional vulnerability. I think that’s what music is all about...exposing and processing the parts of ourselves that we label as “bad,” and helping others know that they are never alone. My last three EPs have really been my story. “Gray Again” was about the darker side of my recovery, “Indigo” was about celebrating my progress so far, and this new project is about living on the other side and learning to balance and maintain my mental health. What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? To build a platform that inspires others to share their vulnerability and be comfortable in their own skin. Vulnerability makes us strong. Emotions are not weaknesses; whether it’s sadness or anger. There is so much more to us than what they see. You are Goddess and you are so much more than lovely. You are brilliant, powerful, strong, creative, loyal, worthy. Facebook: www.facebook.com/ElisabethBeckwitt Instagram: www.instagram.com/elisabethbeckwitt #BuzzMusic

Drop Top Alibi’s brand new single 'Summer Nights & City Lights' is a timeless track that was produced by five-time Juno award-winning and Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Michael Hanson. The guitar comes in soft but quickly intensifies. The soundscape is reminiscent of 90’s alt-rock with more a classic feel. Drop Top Alibi puts their authentic flair and spin on a familiar sound and makes it all the more contemporary and accessible for the masses. A journey through spectacular instrumentation, skillful use of contrast, quiet, chaos, and everything that it means to craft artistic audio from scratch. DTA’s 'Summer Nights & City Lights' is a superb example of how you can take a genre that’s exceedingly well known, and re-build it in a new yet still soulfully relevant manner. Let your mind wander and groove into the melodic and wonderful soundscape of 'Summer Nights & City Lights'. Check out 'Summer Nights & City Lights' here and read more with Drop Top Alibi below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We love your track “Summer Nights”! What do you hope your listeners take away from it? Thank you so much! This song is about going all-in on whatever it is that makes you feel alive. I guess I’d like for the listener to just feel an overwhelming feeling of good vibes, rejuvenation, anticipation, and excitement when they hear this song. The journey is oftentimes the most exciting part of achieving anything, and this song is an expression of that. Being blinded by the light, knowing the risks, but not giving a f*** about it. What’s your writing process like as a group? Typically I’ll (Brandon Gregory) have a decent amount of a song written. The main riff, some sort of hook, maybe even some arrangement stuff as well. I’ll purposely leave some things undone before bringing it to the room with the boys, to see what other flavors can come about. Everyone in this band has their strengths, and since we’ve had this four-piece lineup, the writing has become a lot more collaborative. Sometimes I’ll have a whole song done, but even then, sometimes someone else just has an idea that works well and we start exploring that option. It’s become a lot more fearless, not worrying too much about norms and structure formulas. Having multiple guys who are good singers and melody writers helps that as well. For someone who has never seen you perform live, what’s your stage presence like? Drop Top Alibi is definitely an energetic and high octane rock n’ roll experience. We’ve always prided ourselves on being the band that everyone walks away from the show thinking, “who the fuck were those guys?!?” It’s been a lot of fun this year, our confidence is high and we’ve been turning a lot of heads in the industry. Drop Top is lucky in a lot of ways too. We’ve had the pleasure of working and touring with legends like Gilby Clarke (formerly of GnR), I Mother Earth and Norwood Fisher from Fishbone. The lessons we’ve been able to learn by just being around these people are immense. I guess I would tell someone who’s never seen us that they are going to see an old school well-oiled rock n’ roll show. Face melting and gut-busting! When you’re not making music, what do you all do? Everyone works. I was working as a carpenter building custom cottages and mansions for a while, but now I’m teaching music and playing a lot of cover gigs for cash as well. Dylan works as a BMW Motor Rad mechanic, Jeff is a supervisor at a parts warehouse for a medical company and Luc works as a server/manager at a fancy Italian restaurant. It’s helped fund everything we’ve done so far, and has helped to keep us humble. If music can one day become our full-time job, we would’ve earned it by burning the candle at both ends for years to make it happen. Do you have any upcoming events or shows you’d like to talk about? What’s next for you through the end of 2019? Drop Top Alibi will be hitting the road across Ontario and Quebec in Canada, come October to support “Summer Nights.” We have the pleasure of playing with “The Wild!” In November, and are hoping to get back to LA early next year. It’s time to reconnect with some old friends, and run away from Toronto’s winter! www.droptopalibi.com #BuzzMusic

  • Keith Cullen Shows True Perseverence With New Single “Make Way”

Irish recording artist Keith Cullen has been stealthily making plans in his new home of Los Angeles. The inspiring popstar is back after being in recovery from stage 3 bladder cancer. Harnessing the rollercoaster of emotions he’s experienced the past couple of years, Cullen is ready to unleash the first taste of his transformed musical identity with “Make Way”. The bold, fearless anthem is not just a testament to Cullen’s journey thus far, but a true prophecy for his future. Whether turning an ear to Cullen for the first time or getting reacquainted with him after the pause, “Make Way” brings forth a shift in creative artistry and storytelling few artists evolve into. Fusing the best of heartfelt songwriting with a smooth and expressive leading vocal, an uplifting melody that feels all at once nostalgic and fresh, “Make Way” makes for a dance-pop crossover hit, with lashings of rhythm and soul that help lean the whole thing in a fairly unique direction. There are layers to this that showcase an artist who has found his flow, Keith Cullen’s voice, personality, and multi-colored soundscape couple perfectly with the uplifting brightness of the synths that rain down. While the songwriting is the greatest strength, the production and performance alike help elevate everything within to effective levels. From a distance, there’s a simplicity to the sound in “Make Way”, an easy pop groove that lights up the room as it should. The closer you get though, the more intently you listen, the taller those personal details and that truthfulness stand amidst the ambiance. An inspiring journey that showcases Keith Cullen's strength and perseverance. Listen to “Make Way” here and read more with Keith Cullen in our exclusive interview below! Hey Keith! Welcome to BuzzMusic. We love the new song!! What does “Make Way” represent for you? “Make Way” is a representation of my coming back from hiatus since recovering from cancer. I was diagnosed last year with Bladder cancer and after putting a lot of work into my music career, I was forced to put it on hold. “Make Way” signifies that nothing will ever stop me to continue to rise and that I will power through any obstacles that come in my way. Its a great message for any listeners who go through similar experiences, heartbreak or challenges - that you can always rise up! What prompted you to first start making music, and what drives you to continue? Growing up I was always told I had a powerful voice and talented. It was something I never took seriously until later in my adult life. When I was younger I had my voice trained and toured with musicals! I was always terrified of fame and choose business as my outlet instead. After realizing that money doesn't make you happy ( it helps but is not the source) I knew I needed to get back to igniting my soul and singing is the thing that does that. My drive now comes from within and wanting to simply share my music and story with people in whatever ways possible. Can you dive into the meaning of some of your favorite lyrics within “Make Way? A few of my favorite lyrics are “Clear the water from your eyes, build an altar for me to rise…” As mentioned in the first question, “Make Way” is a message from my own personal story and also, for those who can relate going through troublesome times. And through that journey, there are tears involved and falling down is a constant habit. Though with each hardship is a new opportunity to learn from the experience and come back stronger, hence, rise up! “No lies, they’re not allowed on these grounds we are building on” is a quest for honesty and realness in life, relationships and with ourselves. What’s the concept behind the brand new music video? Where was it filmed? The video was filmed in DTLA on a rooftop at the golden hour as the sun went down. For this video, the very wonderful Hunter Ney was the director and editor. A personal friend of mine the whole process was fun and easy. Rigo Ortiz was on hand for hair and makeup and all of the team really embraced my simple idea of the simple beauty that lies in nature (roses and sunset were the focus). The roses in make way signify the passion and love for what I do and will continue to do :) What’s next for Keith Cullen? I feel like 2020 is coming so fast! I feel like this has been the fastest year of my life so far, with all the changes I'm taking it to step by step. I have another release coming out on the 27th of Septemeber Called “Piece of Me” New clothing/merchandise which gets released on my birthday (October 3rd), and I have created a new candle line and lifestyle brand called Abbott Williams which will launch before Christmas. There's so much going on right now it's super exciting and I'm ready for them all to be out in the world. Your craft comes the more you put yourself, your love and hard work into it. Enjoy it. Focus on YOUR OWN music. You’re doing great. Can you tell us about the meaning behind the lyrics in “Waves”? The meaning behind the lyrics of “Waves” come from an honest place of introspection, for sure. I’ve been really going through it, hard in my life, like I feel a lot of us are and I’ve been stressing myself out over the hows and when’s of life... instead of just like rolling with the “Waves” of life.. and letting them take me to where I’m supposed to be. What was the writing process like? What inspired the song? My writing process is very hard to explain. I let my soul do the talking and then I go in and reword things that need to be. If that makes sense. The inspiration was I wrote “Waves” last year, while working on my EP but I wasn’t completely satisfied with the musical aspects of it. I loved the writing. But i wasn’t 100%. I had this certain sound I was hearing in my head and I was searching and searching for someone to help then thank you to the blessing that is Defstarz... He really just added that sound I had in my head... without even knowing. So that’s how Waves” came to be. Who are your biggest musical influences and why? My biggest musical Inspirations are 100% Prince, Lana Del Rey, Etta James, Elvis Presley and David Bowie. Each one put all of themselves in their music and you could really feel it. From the music right to the lyrics. Hiding treasures for us to discover. I would love to one day have an impact like they have had. What are your career goals for 2019? To release more music, stop holding myself back and just to be happy, find peace and continue to grow as a person. That’s really what I want.
