Kerry Feeney is a 23-year-old recording artist. Born in Warrington, she is currently living in Liverpool. She graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a degree BA (Hons) in Music Theatre in 2017 and shortly after traveled to Chamonix to complete a yoga teacher qualification. It was there in Chamonix that Kerry wrote her first single "Baby Girl Know It" inspired by Mont Blanc; as she contemplated the oneness of the natural God-made mountain and her natural God-given femininity. “Baby Girl Know It” takes a look at feminity, confidence and an overall feeling of empowerment. Kerry gives the listener a retrospective look at her stirring thoughts. Her vocals possess an alluring melancholy similar to Amy Winehouse’s style of singing. Kerry expertly delivers enlivening poetry that any listener can relate to. Her ability to connect with her fans in unmatched in today’s industry. Heartrending and authentic to the core “Baby Girl Know It” stays true to its name. In case you need more evidence of Kerry Feeney’s contagious and uplifting confidence, there's a sexy set of visuals out now for “Baby Girl Know It”! I highly recommend you check out this track and stay on the lookout for the explosive, up and coming, Kerry Feeney. Check out “Baby Girl Know It” here and keep scrolling for more with Kerry Feeney! Hi Kerry, welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell our readers more about your upbringing and how you got started in the music industry? Hey! Thank you for having me! Yeah I was born in Warrington, Cheshire, raised by my mum, older sister and grandparents who celebrated my singing from 2 years old. I had an excellent education which further surrounded me with music and singing. As I got older I followed the path of musical theatre to a degree level until I decided that I no longer wanted to play characters as I wanted to express myself. So after graduation I began to learn to produce and write at home in Liverpool. There's been tons of ideas I've followed to try and find my path into the industry but things only started to come together once I relaxed a little bit and realised that what was meant for me will be and I just have to keep creating. We’re always interested in how artists convey their music. If you had to describe yours without using any specific genre names (ie: Pop) how would you describe it? Super deep and metaphorical with heaps of confidence and sass - oh wait, that's just me. We love your track “Baby Girl Know It”! Can you tell us more about the meaning behind it? What do you want your listeners to feel when they hear it? Thank you so much! "Baby Girl Know It" will always be my baby song as it was my first shared. I felt like it should of been the one to introduce me as the topic of self love and acceptance was something I spent half my life dealing with. I knew as I was writing it that I was in a place of total clarity in something that had messed with my head for so long so I wanted to document what I was feeling incase I ever forgot. A few months later I found the words I'd wrote and knew I needed to share them to help anyone feeling the same - and this is probably what gave me the courage to put myself out there for the first time as it wasn't just for me anymore. I wanted people to hear this song and understand how the natural beauty around them is just mirroring back their own God given natural beauty, we're all made perfect and we all shouldn't be scared to celebrate ourselves proudly. What challenges have you faced as an up and coming artist? How do you overcome those challenges? The pressure of trying to get it right straight away, which is impossible. I tried so hard to have my artist image and sound right from the get go and I had to come to accept that my image and music are always going to be evolving along with me. Another challenge is that everyone around you will want to influence you but remember that everything is your choice. Sometimes the people who doubt you and tell you to not go for something are just reflecting their own fear on to you, so when faced with this I just thank these people got their advice and do what I believe is best. And it's true that with everything you've got to start before you're "ready". What inspires you every day to keep writing and creating music? It's always fun to see what memories or emotions can be invoked while writing. When it comes to feeling new emotions about an old sutuation while I write it's clear to me that what's happening is therapy. Even if I weren't to share my music I'd still always have catchy lines just pop into my head that become a song or I'd still be somewhere singing my heart out. - BuzzMusic Welcomes Back Blake Talley With His New Music!
Welcome back Talley! What have you been up to since the release of “Scared” back in January? I played my favourite music festival, Denver's biggest and best, the Underground Music Showcase. It's been a bucket list dream of mine for years. My first live show as Talley was July at a cool little dive bar in downtown Denver, followed by this festival. We had a great turnout and support for both, even though I had a "technical breakdown" (really just me making a stupid mistake with my volume knob on my live mixer) in the middle of the show, but I had this absolutely incredible backing band made up of some of the most talented musicians in Denver, and they covered for me by jamming for almost 6 minutes while I figured out what I had done. Most people didn't notice, and those who did were super impressed, so, that was a learning experience. I'm excited to be playing live again. I didn't realise how much I missed it until I was onstage, looking into the faces of fans and friends. We checked out your latest release “Still Mine”! What was the writing process like for this song? Can you dive into what it means to you? I'm so glad you like "Still Mine". That's one of my favourites. I wrote that at a coworking space called Converge here in Denver, years ago. I'm obsessed with writing about the painfully ambiguous space between someone being close to you and pushing you away simultaneously. This whole "Ghosting" phenomenon is fairly new in our culture, and psychologically/emotionally devastating, I believe. People need to stop doing that, but likely never will; "Still Mine" is about that juxtaposition. "You can't have me, but you're still mine". I want you, I don't want you, you know? Stay near, but leave me alone. I've never understood why people do that, I think I'm loyal to a fault...but perhaps we all do it to some extent. It has been a source of suffering for me in the past, and I've dealt with it by writing about it quite a bit. People write about love, and heartbreak, but I like the space in-between that nobody writes about. It's real life, man. Stylistically the song is set in the 1950's and early 1960's doo-wop ballad style (think Brian Wilson) with some modern synth and electronic arpeggios throughout. There's an underappreciated Beach Boys album called "Today", and the B-Side of that record has 4 of the most lush and gorgeous heart-wrenching harmonised ballads ever written by Wilson. This is pre-Pet Sounds. I got that vinyl in a tiny record shop (no longer around) in Amarillo, Texas when I was like 18, and I've worn that B-Side out. I think this had a huge effect on "Still Mine", subconsciously, along with synth sounds you might hear in an ELO or Yes, or Styx song. It's a lot longer than songs I write now, but I loved the sort of Space Age DooWop landscape I created. The cover art, done by the very talented Anthony Robackouski, perfectly encapsulates this with a couple in a classic car at a drive-in theatre that's being surrounded by 1950's style UFO's. I've worked with Anthony on everything I've done with visuals for my music for over 12 years now. What has been one of your most memorable or life-changing achievements as an artist so far? Most of those have been in Indie Filmmaking, so to be honest, it was getting a couple of my short films into festivals and winning awards, and winning student awards and scholarships at my alma mater film school, one of the most renowned in the world. I did do the music for those films as well, so I guess that ties in! How are you able to blend modern indie rock with 60’s/70’s rock and still make it sound contemporary and fresh? Great question, I love that, and thank you for asking. There's a real compliment embedded in that question; I've been told by quite a few people that I've somehow found a way to make music that sounds new and old at the same time. That's all I've ever wanted to do with sound. I think it's just a cacophony of influences. I listen to and watch everything. I mean EVERYTHING. I probably absorb 15+ hours of new music and cinema/TV every week (new as in new to me but perhaps very old, and also brand new releases every week.) I don't sleep much; I'm an addict, for better or worse. But the blend of the 60's/70's/80's sounds with modern electronic and indie rock music is very intentional. What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? It's simple: I want to make a living doing this. I just want to be fully independent, no label, no contract, supporting myself with my dreams. It's been a hard and long road, but I feel like I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel, as it were. On a personal note, I suffer from a mental disorder along with some addictions I'm working through that makes working for myself as a truly indie musician far more difficult; but I'm growing and progressing, and learning every day thanks to pathfinders like Leah from Savvy Musician Academy and Suz from The Rock/Star Advocate. What other projects are you working on through the end of 2019? I'm already putting together a new live show wherein I project on a screen behind me montages of classic films I've edited together that are perfectly synchronised to my newest music, which often uses samples from Cinema and Television. So far I've sampled Hitchcock, Black Dynamite, Monty Python, and a forgotten classic 60's Disney Buena Vista film called "In Search of the Castaways". I'm about to sample some Mad Men right now, actually. My current musical hero and influence in this style of music is an artist from Australia called "Pogo". Check him out on YouTube, if you're already not aware of him. He remixes sounds from films to make original music, but I'll be doing more songwriting and vocal/instrumental performance while influenced by his style of remix for samples from films. It's a lot of technical work, but I'm learning a lot in that area from a brilliant Denver local producer called Reed Fox of Moon Magnet Studios. Live, I'll perform the instruments and sing while somewhat theatrically interacting with the projections behind me. It's an idea I've had since I was 15 that I'm only now figuring out how to do. I'm also releasing a full cover album of artists that I think more people should be aware of like The Walkmen, Grandaddy, Dolores O'Riordan, James Blake, Arcade Fire, British Sea Power, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, etc. Check out Blake Talley's recent music here, and don't forget to connect with the artist on his socials below! - Cozii's Making Waves With New Song “That One”
Cozii is an up and coming rapper and lyricist from Montreal, Canada. After retiring from being an NCAA swimmer, Cozii struggled to find a purpose in life before realizing he had known all along. Naturally gifted and independently ambitious, Cozii pursued his passion for music. His debut single “That One” is out now, soon to be followed by a debut EP. Don't sleep on Cozii, stay tuned for more! “That One” is a dope new track from Cozii. While the lyrics feel notably rooted in the drive and confidence of modern rap, the music and Cozii’s own vocals add a unique authenticity. “That One” is hip hop with a certain identity and difference to it. It’s an easy anthem for contemporary hip hop fans. Cozii drives with a simple lust for life with catchy hooks, laid-back concepts, professionalism, and style. This release is far from the exception and offers yet another track that further cement Cozii’s sound and approach as an artist. “That One” is a song that connects a little more strongly with every few moments that pass by, and with each repeated listen. While that initial quirk of the concept and the hook, is the first to grab you, the song goes on to lead with a notably energizing beat, a heavy vibe, great rhythm, and something more of an alternative, late-night aura than anything purely designed for the pop world. I highly recommend you check out “That One” here and keep reading for more with Cozii below! Hey Cozii! Welcome to BuzzMusic. How long have you been creating your own music, and what first inspired you to start? I have always been creating things in my life and music finally found its place in my life around seven months ago when I decided to get myself the equipment and knowledge for music creation. I knew I always had this sound inside of me. It was just a matter of time and practice for me to get it out! Can you tell us more about “That One”? What were you hoping to achieve with this track? Around two years ago I met this amazing girl and we have been together ever since. She is smart, beautiful and very head strong and those are only a few reasons why I admire her. She has helped me through a lot in our time together and she’s stuck with me through a lot of personal shortcomings. While putting together some tracks, I came across this great beat online that caused some good inspiration flowing and immediately got the exclusive rights for it in order to create a song that night. I came up with the lyrics while thinking about her and the melody just came about naturally in my head. What I am hoping to achieve with this is simply get an honest, pure sound established for Cozii on all platforms as well as setting a baseline for what I’m about. How do you generally get started when crafting a new track, and how do you know it’s truly finished? When creating a new track, I like to spend my time browsing beats for inspiration while writing different lines. I try to wright as often as I can in order to reach new levels of alliteration and stronger vocabulary. As far as putting the song together officially, I go with the vibes, when a beat feels right, the words come to me very easily. Honestly I’ll never know when a track is quite finished, I believe there are always things to be added or removed to change the way a song makes you feel. I could recreate a song I’ve already made and it could make you feel two very different things by changing small elements within it. For me, a song is finished when I no longer have any new words or stories to add or remove. Who do you admire in the music world right now? Xxxtentacion was my most admired artist alongside Mac Miller before their tragic deaths last summer. I am still a huge fan of both JID and Ski Mask The Slump God. These are two very different artists but you can learn so much from both their outlooks and approaches to making music and having fun with it. Who would you love to collaborate with? Hands down I would love to work with Ski Mask The Slump God one day, I feel our humorous personalities would mix very well and we could make some quality work in the studio! instagram.com/cozii_ly facebook.com/lyam.dias

For those who don’t know, how would you describe your sound and style as an artist? I would like to think my sound comes from a blend of music genres I listened to growing up. I am from Sierra Leone; therefore, I listened to a lot of traditional Sierra Leonean music. In my household, my mom and aunties also listened to reggae a lot. As I grew older, I started hanging out with my cousins that liked hip hop, and they introduced me to it. I started listening to hip hop music as well. So when you listen to my music, you can sense that it has traditional African sound mixed with hip hop and reggae. What can you tell us about the new single “Still Searching”? How did it come to be, and what does it represent for you? Still Searching is a song I wrote to share my experience resettling in Canada. The song came about when my longtime producer, a friend of mine, and also a dope rapper Kaz Mega played me a couple of beats he had made for artists to choose from. A beat stood out, it sounded like a reverse reggae beat. I thought it would be great to write something deep to the beat. I thought about telling a story from my life. I decided to write something that can resonate with people going through the struggle of resettling in a place quite different from where they grew up. In the song, I talked about resettling in Canada, going through the ups and downs, still working hard to a better life while remaining true to myself. What do you hope people take away from the song? I wanted people to know about the struggle we face when we leave Africa and come to North America. We are thankful for the opportunities, but it feels like our lives start all over. For example, Our academic or other types of achievements that we come with are barely recognized here. So you have to be really determined and very strong-minded to start your life all over to make something out of yourself. I also want people to understand that while someone is Still Searching and working hard to better his or her future, being true to what that person believes in is very important in the journey. How did you come to collaborate with Oozeela? I had met Oozeela through Kaz. I had listened to his music before, and I am a fan of his music. He is a very talented guy with a great personality. I knew he was a good fit for the song. So I reached out and he was willing to work on the song with me. We recorded the song but did not release it right away. I kept it with me. As the years went by, we became good collaborators and friends. We worked on some music together for a project I was working on. During this time, we talked about the song and decided to re-record our vocals. This time we figured the song was ready to come out, so we released it. What are your plans creatively over the coming months and years? I am currently working on an album called “War and Love Stories” to be released in 2020 Spring. Still Searching is kind of like the first single off that project. We just shot the video for Still Searching which will be out soon. In October I will release another song called “African Ghetto”. Look out for that. In the coming years, I am just going to be working on music, and hope my music gets heard. Now Waiz Lucky develop new songs for new projects (EP and Album) and start my promo with a new song who’s named “Écoute #1” who released in my new Soundcloud fan page. Love this track “Écoute #1” Can you explain the writing process and any challenges you faced along the way? The way i'm the most comfortable to write is to listen first the beat, and then if i get inspired with it, I start writing on it, alongside of finding a theme for the song. For this one, the sadness of the melody brought me to speak about my deepest hardships and tribulations. One of the challenges i faced was to get confronted with myself, about my own pain. What would be your dream collaboration? If i had to dream about a collaboration, i would like to do different ones; some with African artists such as Koffi Olomide or Fally Ipupa, (from Congo), some with American rappers like Nas, and Kery James for the french one. What do you think sets you apart from other hip-hop artists? I can say that i enjoy rapping as a believer, without necessarily claiming it. It is important to me, and this is definitely one characteristic that may set me apart from other hip-hop artists. What’s next for you? What is coming next is a collaboration under another name which will be with another french rapper and also close friend, Bouginz. We are working on different tracks together, he's in Ottawa, i'm in Montreal, yet we are both from France, and we knew each other back there, before coming in Canada, so some songs will come soon, under our nicknames "Bouginz & Bougzer", with the first one already recorded called: "entre rêves et cauchemards" (which means "between dreams and nightmares").
