- Release Radar: "Quién da Más" By Laban
Mexican singer-songwriter Laban reigns from the border city of Tijuana and currently lives in Mexico City. Laban’s musical literacy began at the fresh age of 3 playing the violin and is the son of a graphic artist. His debut album is called Todos Somos Duenos de Aqui which contains the single "Quién da Más" which is a protest song revolving around the topics of corruption, impunity, extreme income inequality and violence. The album has a minimalist concept and dialectical view of the world that goes through the form of a thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. A laidback groove of electric guitars and drums sets the mood of Laban's latest single "Quién da Más" which is also accompanied by stunning visuals in the form of a music video. Laban’s vocals are smooth and gentle that have sort of a calming effect as you listen and become enchanted by the calmness of it all. The subtle addition of harmonies makes his vocals all the more enchanting and luring. Throughout the whole song, Laban is questioning himself about who is and who he wants to be. A self-pondering question that nearly everyone goes through during some point in time. You don’t have to understand what he is saying to know and feel the emotion that Laban radiates. Overall, what an incredible tune! Listen to "Quién da Más" here. - Wolfgang Harte's "Old Bird" Will Leave You Wearing Your Heart On Your Sleeve
We all have our “why” and the motive behind pursuing our dreams and hobbies. The discovery of what you’re passionate about could be life changing. For Wolfgang Harte, his true discovery for music happened after an unfortunate life event. Wolfgang Harte’s decision to return to writing and performing music came in the wake of losing his mother in 2017. His song-writing provided a channel for his grief and helped him tackle the issues of life, death and family that exploded all around him during that period. He channeled the life triumph into a unique sound that is born of dark, personal lyrics and driving, euphoric soundscapes which capture the volatile atmosphere in which the songs were written. You would expect Wolfgang Harte to release a song that’s full of anger with an aggressive approach. However, here we are, presenting the complete opposite and shocking your expectations with his stunning emotional conviction and fiery passion in his record “Old Bird”. Wolfgang Harte has this tone in “Old Bird” that just absolutely touches you. The first note he sings you instantly become drawn to the lyrics and what he has to say. The voice is gritted with tons of rasp yet delivered with powerful sentiments and you can’t help but adore that. “Old Bird” has a hazy and progressive backtrack instrumental that creates the image of fog smoke, and replenishing emotions. You feel more refreshed from listening to this cleansing record. Wolfgang Harte has a story to tell. He has a message to give. He shows us all these traits in a soft introduction with a foghorn projection as the song climaxes. A riveting melody you will surely remember! Listen to "Old Bird" here and get to know more about Wolfgang Harte below! You’re very brave and strong for sharing your story of the loss of your Mother. How were you able to overcome this and drive your strength into your music? I appreciate you saying that. I’m very lucky to come from a big, close family. My brother and sisters, my Dad and I, really stuck together during that time and I think without that, I would have been lost. My little sister and I were the last two left at home as kids, and in the end, we were the last two to leave the house after my mum Died and I’ll always remember how much that meant to me having that time with her there. Also, my good friend Harry Koisser. He was driving up and down from London to see me at a moment’s notice and, trying to get me off the bender I’d fallen into, he took me to walk up the Malvern Hill’s one day, a place where my Mum used to take me and my sister as kids. It was a totally surreal moment in that period but stands out now as special memory from that period and I thank him for that also. And My fucking Brother, no words. We cried together and went through hell together. When I eventually came back to London, writing songs was the only thing that helped keep me from the more destructive ways of dealing with grief and I soon released that the focus and lyrical exploration of writing songs was my best coping mechanism so in a sense, it wasn’t a decision to channel my energy into writing songs, more a compulsion. “Old Bird” is BEAUTIFUL. What inspired you to write this? Of all the songs I’ve written, Old Bird is the one that’s probably the best example of what people mean when they talk about writing from the subconscious. One afternoon while I was back at home I started messing around on the bass guitar she had bought for me as a teenager. The lyrics came out as a flood without me having to think at all. Over the time I remained at home, I played the song over and over and it really helped me escape everything that was going on and I guess process things on some level. If you could mentally place yourself in any setting for “Old Bird” what’s the environment you have in mind? Whenever I hear this song, I always think about being back at home with my family, everyone dancing in the kitchen and out in the garden. My Mum loved music and introduced me to all of the artists that went on to influence my own music, and when she was well, she loved dancing and having parties in the house. That’s the way I like to remember her best, as the life and soul of the party dancing to Van Morrison with the doors and windows open and all the lights on. How excited are you to perform at the Water Rats in London this April? Can we expect “Old Bird” to be a song of choice? Yeah I can’t fucking wait. I did a handful of full band shows last year with a group of friends all involved in different projects who helped me debut the songs I’d written live. Since then, I’ve been playing solo shows, as It’s been tough to find available players, so I’m really looking forward to getting back on stage with a band and delivering the songs in full force. Old Bird is always/ will always be on the set list. Do you have any news you'd like to share with us? What can we expect from you in the coming months? After doing those first shows last year and recording some initial demos, I wasn’t really sure how to proceed and I had so much going on mentally as I continued grieving, as well as new considerations like being in a new relationship and moving house. Towards the end of last year though, things became clear in my mind and I realized that making and playing music is what I need to be doing at all costs. I have a debut single coming out on April 12th, my Mum’s birthday, and will be playing as man solo ad full-band shows as a I can along with more releases over the year. So hopefully, we’ll talk again. Connect with Wolfang Harte on social media: Instagram Facebook #BuzzMusic
- Singer Songwriter Riley Whittaker Takes Our Breath Away With New Single "See Right Through"
Riley Whittaker is a vocalist who knows how to deliver a song to its full capacity. With her modulated comforting voice, she has this special ability to make you feel like you’ve been missing a vocal tone like hers, without even realizing it! It translates well through her memorable music such as the release of her absorbing single “See Right Through”. “See Right Through” has a melody that’s catchy and addicting to the point where you want to hear it all over again. Riley’s voice becomes more honeyed which creates the whole mystic vibe the song has. What I interpreted from “See right through” is that Riley is starting to look at the transparency in someone who she has somewhat of an interest in. This song has a unique context where it could be interpreted in any way you feel is most fitting and appropriate for the metaphorical storytelling lyricism. Riley conveys passionate emotion while singing a love story quite different from the typical. Riley is in no doubt a rising star with significant amount of talent to share to the world. Listen to "See Right Through" here and get to know Riley in our interview below! Riley mind telling us a little bit about where you are from and your upbringing? I'm from a small town in Arizona called Sedona. I grew up here with just me, my mom, and dad, and two dogs. My family has always been extremely supportive when it came to my love of music, and they do so much to help me pursue my hopes, and dreams. “See Right Through You” has a riveting instrumental, do you take credit in the instrumentals in "See Right Through You"? The electric guitar solo in "See Right Through," is me playing electric guitar. Although the drums and bass are done by Blake Vadasy, who produced the song. What inspired you to write “See Right Through You” ? "See Right Through," was one of those songs that just kind of flowed together. I started writing it one day, and then later that month I got a new electric guitar. I started playing around with the song and the electric guitar, and it all just came together. If you can dedicate this single to anybody of your choice who would you select and why? I wouldn't dedicate this song to any specific person. I would say it's a message to anyone about people in the world who think what they are doing is the right way to do things. It's saying that everyone should have the freedom to express their own opinions. What’s next for you? Coming up I have multiple gigs, I'm applying to many auditions, playing at local festivals and I'm playing at a private event. I have quite a few original songs, and I'm hoping to record another one of my originals soon, and work towards an album. Connect with Riley Whittaker on social media: Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic
- #NewMusic - Rocky Morningside "Moonlight"
A business savvy wordsmith with a style you’ve never seen before, Rocky Morningside is the charismatic maverick behind the mic. His dynamic range as both a writer and vocalist can tend to leave the listener spellbound. We're positive you will become completely enraptured by the release of his latest single “Moonlight”. The detailed effect on the melody in “Moonlight” adds a nice eccentric element to the song. Nothing can compare to how Rocky handed us a flow with a signature rap voice that’s aggressive and slightly dark. Rocky showcases his ability and artistry as a lyricist by delivering us bars in a vigorous and audacious manner. The lyricism behind “Moonlight” feels to be more deep rather than shallow. What was so chilling about this song is how it feels more like a personal diary to the artist rather than a shareable record. For that sole reason we found ourselves appreciating Rocky Morningside more for giving us the welcoming door into his mind that translated well across his poetic lyrics. Music is all about freedom of expression and creating art that’s meaningful to you and Rocky completely nailed the idea of it when he curated “Moonlight”. One of the most passionate people that you’ll ever meet, Rocky Morningside is the epitome of what it means to be original in what today too often seems to be a convoluted music culture of the same repeating itself. A track that you'll want to add to your playlist ASAP. Bravo Rocky Morningside! Listen to "Moonlight" here and get to know Rocky in our exclusive interview below! As a multifaceted artist, it seems as if you can do both sing and rap! Which do you prefer? Great question! I enjoy the flexibility of both. I convey emotions differently with each of the two. Sustained tonality when singing is more of a challenge but I enjoy that because that’s where I find growth. Rapping however comes natural to me and I’m a storyteller so being able to cram a lot of words in a short space gives me a wider window to illustrate my narrative. I feel like the two are married but if I were caught in a custody battle I would probably lean towards rap at this very moment. Can you tell us a little bit about your album “Sounds from Outta Bounds” ? I have some really special records on “Sounds from Outta Bounds” so the idea originally was to drop it traditionally like most labels do with a single release or two with heavy promotion then release the whole album. After further thought I decided to pull back the reins and release most of the album as singles over a longer period of time. I’m still in the infantile stages of building a following so I think the unconventional approach gives me leverage. I’m able to give my fans content consistently while isolating the marketing for each individual record without exhausting large chunks of my catalog at a time. Quality records are expensive to make and I bankroll every facet of my operation independently so maximizing the exposer for each song is critical. “Sounds from Outta Bounds” started with “Moonlight.” The album is 13 tracks after scraping a few so I’ll probably release the next 4 or 5 songs as singles methodically then drop the album as a whole rerelease after with the remaining 8 unreleased songs. It’s very different music so it will be exciting to see people’s reaction to each song. I’m stoked! I can’t wait! "Moonlight" is a VIBE! What was your motivation in writing “Moonlight” ? What's the meaning behind the song? Prior to writing “Moonlight” I just came out of a relationship gone bad that I invested a lot into. I write mostly about life experiences so despite my best attempt to put that topic out of my mind, my subconscious pushed those lyrics out of me. Before you know I was at the end of a story that began about a gypsy psychoanalyzing me as a person and her seeing only what I want her to see but what she really sees is the darkest things that I’m trying to hide. I was trying to poetically write an experience I had with a psychic but the lyrics ended up being riddled with remnants of my ex girlfriend so I changed a few words and flipped it into a metaphorical situation. In the music video I take a journey to reach the lady painting the (mystery) picture of something to do with me but when I finally get to her she disappears just like the girlfriend and what she painted of me was actually nothing because that point in my life “nothing” is exactly what I got out of that relationship and what I discovered when seeing the painting for the first time is actually a gateway, another dimension to the path forward. The shapeshifting that I go through at the very end represents my transformation from out of the dark, callus wild animal that I had become after losing what I thought at the time was my soulmate. Before I could enter into the light I had to come to terms with the darkness, expose what I was hiding and that’s what you’re seeing when you watch the music video. So yeah, it’s a VIBE! A very deep one. Shout to my two directors Joshua Shultz @joshuashultz and Joey Danger @joeydangermusic for helping me bring my vision to life. Tell us about the songwriting process of the single? Do you write your own music? I wrote the musical foundation to “Moonlight” with a dear friend of mine and music producer Focuz. @focuzmuzik He and I wrote the record in about 30 minutes and I spent another 30 minutes cleaning it up and making sure the lyrics conveyed nicely. I recorded the “Moonlight” in LA along with 12 other records a few weeks later. Artist and Music Producer, One Touch @touchtheviking and Multi Platinum Audio Engineer, Irko @irkostudiobeat were present when I laid down the lyrics in about 15 or 20 minutes. When I came out of the booth they both had chill bumps. I decided then it should be the first single off the album. What's next for you through 2019? I currently have 80 songs archived in my catalogue and I usually write at least two per week so my plan is to grow my following much larger so I can share my art with as many people as possible. I need to add a few missing links to my team with veteran management and touring experience so I can start monetizing my brand and getting a return on my investment. As much as I love the art aspects of songwriting and performance the reality is it can be very expensive to bring a artistic vision to life so monetization is essential for me going forward to clear a path for me to give fans more of my work. - A-V Delivers Us A Hit With Latest Release "Da Blues"
Rap artist A-V has been developing his rap skills since he was a child. He always had a love for poetry and for writing short stories. Coming from a family of 4, A-V occasionally wrote and recorded demos when visiting relatives in the most unorthodox way on a cassette karaoke machine. Eventually this endeavour led to A-V and his relative Charles Lowery (Extra-O) and a friend creating a group called, “New Threat” which eventually turned into a family Hip hop group that consisted of 5 members both male and female. A-V draws his inspiration from artists like 2Pac, Biggie, Jadakiss, and MAC Dre to name a few. Having dropped a mixtape since the group split, A-V continues to produce and release new music like his most recent track “Da Blues”. Starting with a cool intro with a nostalgic throwback sound back to when 2pac was alive, A-V lays his bars smoothly explaining his life and talks about an unnamed person who seems to have been continually been a negative force in his life. A-V has a driving rhythm and flow that draws you in as he goes through each verse. His message is one that is relatable to most people where A-V expresses his journey and the challenges he has faced and continues to persevere. Overall, we were extremely pleased with A-V's single! Listen to "Da Blues" here and get to know A-V in our interview below! Hey A-V, can you tell our readers a little about yourself and what made you start your career in music? I’m from KCMO born and raised. I been doing music since I was 14. I have done many venues all around Ks and MO. I’ve sold 20,000+hard copies out the trunk. I got the passion from elementary and was inspired once I use to go over to my cousins house and record on cassette tapes and I fell in love with after hearing my voice. What would you say is something that sets you apart from other rap artists in general? One thing that sets me out from other rappers is I’m more alternative with my music, I don’t have just one genre of hip hop. I can change my flow up, very versatile. I like to tone down on all different topics, for example I did a song called “Hardship” dedicated to my mom talking about different trials and tribulations because of her being a single parent. I try to send a positive message through my music, because it’s powerful and I could help someone through my music. Who do you look up to the most in the music industry and why? Of course Tupac, that should be anyone #1 because of the impact he had in his music st such a young age. The things he stood for was powerful, he could’ve changed the world through his music. If I was to pick someone current I would choose Young Buck because of his whole style he keeps it real at all times, he pushes his music and what he stands for. Why did you decide to call this song, “Da Blues”? I’m basically calling it “Da Blues” because I’m talking about making money throughout the whole song if you like making money then you like making new money. That was the metaphor in my chorus “make some new money, now my pockets got da Blues” which was kinda catchy so I went with “Da Blues”. What is the concept behind your song art? The artwork is a visual of the everyday struggle and a hustle everyone has their own hustle. My hustle has always been my music selling it in front of corner stores that’s why you see me with the bums posted up with a bag full of money and chop because I hustle hard made a cool amount off the music and you have to have protection. Basically just a black man trying to make some new money. How and when do you start writing lyrics for your songs? First, I start with the beat which I have a few producers rocking with me right now, S/O to IOTB, Pariamakinbeat, and DJ W Produce. Once I have the beat I vibe with it to see how it makes me feel, I go off of that and I start freestyling then that helps me come up with a hook then I basically build the verse off the hook, once I have my hook and verses everything comes together then I come up with the title to the song. - Release Radar: LowKeyytm Ft. KVNE - "Ride"
Rising Canadian artist Tristan Molina who goes by the stage name LowkeyyTM comes through in style! Delivering a trendy sound and never failing to impress us with his wavy aura and spotless clean bars. LowkeyyTM collaborates with artist KVNE to project their hit song titled “Ride”. “Ride” is the perfect vibe single where you can ironically, ride around and vibe to it. Both artists gave us an addicting and appealing hook that you can repeat and rap along with constantly. I liked the melody of the hook hugely because it helped emphasized the fun and outgoing wordplay they gave us through their lyrics. They reminded me a lot of the current charting rappers who allows their charisma and personality to shine through their raps and music. They have no problem with sticking to the trend while making sure they don’t shy far away from their individuality in which makes them unique and the artist they are today. You can tell they spend meticulous time in curating a progressive styled hit we can become enjoyable with. Each has their own distinctive rap voice, highly noticeable while listening to the music. Bravo guys! “Ride” is no doubt hit due to how digestible it is for this current generation of hip-hop lovers! Listen to "Ride" here.
