- BUZZ Exclusive: Tyler Allred Explores Latest Release, “It Might Be Fun”
Welcome back to BuzzMusic, Tyler Allred; having you here is always a treat! We had to ask, could you take us through the creative process for “It Might Be Fun?" I wrote this song a few years ago, roughly 2018-19, when my first E.P., Everything is Fine, was released. Writing it happened organically, and I didn’t think too hard about any of it, as is the case with most of the music I end up recording. I generally feel if it’s forced, it’s not authentic and worth keeping, with some exceptions. The recording process was super fun and different for this song as I was fortunate enough to do so at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, which has so much history, Elliott Smith (my all-time favorite), Neil Young, The Doors, etc. Who would your dream collaboration be, and why? I’d have to say, Conor Oberst. His influences pushed me toward going solo acoustic at 14, and he’s just one of my all-time favorite songwriters. Gucci Mane would be fun, too, though. What’s been your favorite part of your music journey thus far? I’d have to say all the friends I’ve made along the way and anytime I’ve been told one of my songs helped someone, even in a tiny way. I’m just glad to do it by doing it at all; it’s been the most consistent thing in my life over the years. What does music mean to you, and what goals do you want to achieve through your music? Most of the time, I have no idea what the music means, and if I do, the meaning can change daily; I like that. There’s rarely a clear, concise goal, and I think that’s fun. A lot of the time, writing songs makes me feel a deep hatred of myself and my music. I’ll proceed to question why I still even bother, but then I’ll finish a new one I fuck with and be like, “Oh yeah, that feeling. That’s why.” What’s next for Tyler Allred? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans? This single is the first release from my forthcoming E.P., “33 Days and a Wake Up”. To fans, I’d like to express gratitude for letting me borrow your time and ears, and I hope you’re having a fun time with life. Instagram

More recently, Edwards released her album DARK around Halloween and looks forward to releasing the second part, LIGHT, in the spring of 2024. Until then, we're feasting our ears on her newest holiday project, the 8-track EP Merry Everything. Each song showcases Edwards' skillful songwriting and infectious positive attitude, helping listeners get into the festive spirit with eight beautiful songs. The experience starts with the upbeat intro track, "Christmas All Around," floating through the speakers with fluttery piano melodies and a jazzy, soulful instrumental spin. As Jan Edwards's radiant vocals rain down from above, her cheerful lyrics bestow the nature of the festive season while describing cozy scenarios that leave us eager for Christmas day. It's an uplifting, peppermint-infused holiday song bound to get listeners in a good mood. Onto the EP's second track, "Holiday Mood," Jan Edwards sinks into a more witty, introspective vibe with a mid-tempo beat, heavy brass, sweet jingle bells, and catchy melodies. This song feels like embracing your seasonal surroundings and soaking in the festive cheer while spreading it with every interaction. From the stockings by the fire to the busy shopping malls, Jan Edwards perfectly describes the essence of the "Holiday Mood." Landing on the EP's third and title track, "Merry Everything," Jan Edwards dives into a vibrant, modern holiday song with rich pop production incorporating groovy electronic elements to make this song ultra-danceable. While her beautiful vocals pay homage to the merry spirit of the holidays, Jan Edwards naturally puts a smile on our faces with her witty lyrics and overall message of gathering, giving, and sharing happiness with loved ones all season long. Reaching a more soulful holiday tune with track number four, "Christmas To Blame," we're met with a downtempo, jazzy instrumental alongside Jan Edwards's rhythmic and breathy vocals. While expressing how she loses herself in decorating, shopping, and shoveling, Edwards confesses that with all the season's stressors, we've only got "Christmas To Blame." But, still, it's a good kind of blame that drives you crazy, but you look forward to every year. Sinking deeper into the passionate, loving vibes of the season is track number five, "Perfect Christmas Eve," melting through the speakers with silky piano melodies and Jan Edwards's stunning vocals. While wishing for the perfect Christmas Eve to complete the season, she serenades listeners with honest lyrics of yearning to find someone to snuggle with by fire or roast chestnuts over an open flame. And with every year, the wish continues. It's a personal side of the album that showcases Jan Edwards's vulnerability and compelling songwriting. Track six, "Happy Holiday State of Mind," switches 180 degrees, blasting through the speakers with an extensive brass section, harmonious piano melodies, upbeat drums, and sweet jingle bells. As she sets the scene with snow on the streets and people greeting with glee, Jan Edwards perfectly expresses that feeling in the air of the "Happy Holiday State of Mind." She has no problem painting vivid pictures in listeners' minds; this song is no exception. The EP's seventh track, "True Gift Of Christmas, " is upping the nostalgia," opening with a soothing string section that leads into melodic keys and Jan Edwards's sweet-sounding vocals. This might be our favorite track on the project. It feels very Michael Bublé-esque, chilling listeners with a jazzy, adult-contemporary vibe and homages to classics like It's A Wonderful Life. The massive brass section brings the song's soul to the max, and Jan Edwards's rich vocals are the cherry on top. Landing on the eighth and final track of the project, "Wrapped In Your Love," Jan Edwards slows things down a notch to end the EP on a meaningful note. With soft piano melodies and velvety vocals, Edwards serenades listeners with calming lyrics of feeling wrapped in someone's love and realizing that this is the only gift she truly needs. It's a beautiful, jazzy outro song that perfectly encapsulates the spirit and meaning of the season, to share love and happiness abound. Not in the holiday spirit? You will be after hearing Jan Edwards's beautiful 8-track holiday EP, Merry Everything. Do yourself a favor and let this be your soundtrack all season long. - Boogie Madeoff Sits Explains His Grind On Latest Release, “I Can Sleep When I Die”
Welcome to BUZZ, Boogie Madoff! We loved "I Can Sleep When I Die," so we had to ask: Could you take us through your creative process for this release? This creative process was expensive because I wanted to do many things myself; instead of buying studio time, I bought my studio and set it up in my house. I reached out to Slimmy on the beats. I told him I needed a banger, and he sent me back this. How did you decide to feature Kyng LeLe on the track, and what was it like working with him? I've known King Kyng Le Le since we were 15, and we were in group homes together and went to the same school for a bit. I knew I needed something different for the hook, and he's the first person I thought of. Who would you say has had the most significant influence on your musical direction and why? My kids have the biggest influence on my direction. I'm older now, and I'm doing everything for them. What does music mean to you, and what goals do you want to achieve through your music? Music means everything to me outside of my day job. I know this is something I'm great at; I want to successfully put out a record through a selected few platforms and then shop myself to get a deal. What's next for Boogie Madeoff? Next for me is to keep working on this single until my numbers go up. I have a couple more songs and videos coming after this, and for all my fans, if you want more exclusive content, go to my website, boogiemadeoffmusic.com Instagram

- JOL Takes Us On An Undercover Adventure On “Lost In This Game”
Why do humans constantly make so many bad decisions? Equal parts music producer, composer, and digital artist, there’s not much in the creative realm Swedish artist JOL can’t envision or accomplish. Born Joel Eriksson, the budding talent would flex his creative muscles from an early age, playing the piano at local castles while wearing a Mozart Wig. The flames of JOL’s love for music were continually stoked, and this would only increase when he decided to attend Hvitfeldtska Music School, surrounding himself with like-minded creatives and taking his musical and artistic abilities to exciting new heights. Although he always possessed a natural ear for music, Hvitfeldtska Music School would deepen JOL’s understanding of music composition, adding another layer of artistic depth to his releases. After deciding to team up with fellow artist Quant, JOL and Quant would perform at major festivals like Roskilde and Hultsfred, showing his ability to captivate on the stage just as much as the studio. Having also created music for games like EA’s Battlefield 1942 and movies alike, it would not be an understatement to say that JOL’s impressive versatility makes him so appealing, and as the years go by, he continues to evolve. “Lost in this Game” occupies a peculiar musical space where pop, bedroom pop, and electronic music intersect. It’s a combination that isn’t obvious, but JOL has combined them so well that the fusion feels natural and compelling. Lyrics like “Lost, in this game, all systems fail / Humans could never run a human world” are delivered with sincere sadness (and maybe disappointment) that hints at a powerful narrative: humanity’s propensity for self-sabotage. The light vocals make an exciting contrast with lyrics that are deeper than they first appear, but “Lost in this Game” is so catchy we don’t blame you if you missed it. “Lost in this Game” is a catchy yet thought-provoking release that questions the morals and empathy of humanity itself. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream JOL’s new release, “Lost In This Game,” on all majour streaming platforms. Twitter
