  • Pippa Scott Teaches Us About The Importance Of Self In Her Debut Release, “What If?”

Pippa captivates us and leaves us longing for more. Pippa Scott, a singer-songwriter, creates and exudes the perfect musical experience in her debut single, "What If." Partnering with Chersea, Pippa brings a blended formula of the perfect pop, rock, and RnB soul. At the same time, she adds her own experiences that have the listener thinking about self-discovery, empowerment, and self-love in their own lives. This collaboration matches perfectly as their passions, talents, lyrics, and vocals bring this undeniable record to fruition. Recognized at 16 years old on the BBC show "A Star For A Night," Pippa pursued her passion to study at Broadways "Circle in the Square Theatre School. Her singing skills had her honored with opera singer Leah Field in Vancouver, and she's now refining her skills with the legendary Chelsea Laing. "What If" starts with a fantastic piano melody as Pippa talks about sensitive topics that have us on an emotional ride the whole way. She speaks about her mental and physical experiences and what she's learned from them so those experiences don't reoccur. As we continue on Pippa's journey through "What If," her vocals tell a beautiful story like a brush helps paint an emotional piece of art. It moves freely and swiftly in a glowing ambiance. Pippa sings lyrics like: "I want you to keep my heart in mind." and "It never seems to be enough," which helps us see the emotional vulnerability from her, and in many ways, listeners can relate to that. With this captivating, outstanding performance, Pippa Scott dares to be different. She wishes to take everyone who listens on a personal ride in her debut single, "What If," available on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Pippa Scott! It's great to chat with you. How did this song come together, and what inspirations did you draw from when creating "What If?" Great chatting with you too! I sat down with my writing partner (BC-based musician Chelsea), and we just started talking about themes that resonated with me. She would play some music and try and lean into the emotions we discussed until we landed on the song. I draw a lot of inspiration from artists that wear their hearts on their sleeves (Adele, Sara Bareilles, Alanis Morisette, to name a few). The song "What If?" speaks to wanting someone to show up for you in a particular way and believing that they can - but ultimately, for many reasons, they are just unable. That frustrating sensation of feeling so close and yet so far. Then the progression to understanding that you are the one that can love and prioritize yourself and claiming that power back. I love the song from Frozen, "Show Yourself," where she finally realizes that it is her she has been waiting for and not someone else "Show yourself, Step into the power, Grow yourself into something new, You are the one you've been waiting for all of your life." Such a powerful song because, from a young age, women are taught to believe that love comes externally through a man who will rescue and look after them. We get to take back the narrative in this way. "What If" sends a powerful message to listeners; what would you say helps you on your journey to talk about feelings, emotions, and experiences that listeners can utilize in their everyday lives? I am an open book by nature. Heart on the sleeve is how I deeply relate to others. Extending this into my music is a natural progression. For me feeling "seen" and "understood" in the music I listen to is a big part of why it resonates. I aim to do the same in my music. When we push our emotions down, they tend to explode later. It is very therapeutic to express and share with others. I also have been in therapy since I could talk, haha! But in all seriousness, I saw a special of Brene Brown's where she spoke about the origins of courage coming from "Cor," which is the root of the word courage and the Latin word for heart. The more people who can speak openly from their hearts, the better the world will become. Vulnerability is the root of authenticity. What was it like growing up for a young Pippa Scott? Did you always know you'd become an artist? I was talking about this with a childhood friend. When I was my daughter's age (9), I would say singer if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I pursued this for a while, landing the BBC TV show "Star for a Night" at 16 and then training on Broadway in Musical Theatre in my early 20s at "Circle in the Square Theatre School." I then worked on the other side of the film industry in PR, agent work, and casting before returning to my first love - singing. It was a detour, but I needed to experience more of life before embracing myself as an artist! As an artist, what part of creating challenges you the most? Putting myself out there. As a society, we have become so used to being overly critical while hiding behind our screens. It is human nature to want to be accepted and appreciated, and it can be hard on your heart when others are unkind, even if you know it is to be expected. Showing up as the real you and not hiding behind some mask means that no stage persona separates you from cruel words, but I still wouldn't have it any other way. Those are the artists I admire and need the most when I listen to music! Helping others to feel less alone. What's next for you? Continuing to work on developing new material with Chersea. I have a cover coming out in September and another original song later this year. I will also go into the recording studio to work on my third song. It is early days, but I am excited to see where this journey will take me and the people I will meet along the way! Instagram

  • Kelsy Karter And The Heroines Provides Stripped Down Cover Of “Holding Out for A Hero”

Let’s start by saying this is a “you need to hear it first” type of moment. The British/Australian band Kelsy Karter and The Heroines introduce us to a phenomenal stripped cover of an all-time favorite, originally from Bonnie Tyler: "Holding Out for a Hero." The band is known for their amazing and unique way of Rock & Roll. And this cover is no exception; there’s no way you listen to it and don’t feel like you were just taken on a deep, spiritual journey. The song itself already has such an overwhelming set of lyrics. Still, Kelsy Karter and The Heroines added feeling to this journey with the instruments, the sobriety, the seriousness, and the rawness of Kelsy’s voice, basically the “stripped” factor of a cover; it is a compelling combination that leaves us in awe. As Kelsy alluded, "We wanted to pay homage to the timeless appeal of 'Holding Out for a Hero' while infusing it with our unique musical essence," which is precisely what they did. This is an opportunity to genuinely understand what the lyrics and song want to express; it is something you never knew you needed to listen to until you did. This is just one of many examples of these artists' versatility, adaptability, and accuracy. To create an entirely different perspective from a piece that was already good and capture a whole new message. This cover will hit you right when and where you need it in your heart. We recommend you let yourself get struck by it like we did. This beautiful piece and the incredible work from Kelsy Karter and The Heroines are found on all streaming platforms and social media. Can’t wait to see what’s next for Kelsy and the band. Instagram

  • Forever May Fall Strike Back Against the Fake People Around Them on “Who You Are”

The Charlotte, North Carolina, outfit continues to captivate with visceral, emotion-filled releases. Music can unite us all in its purest form through its ability to make us feel. It serves as a conduit through which emotion is conveyed, making us feel happy, sad, exhilarated, and whatever emotional rollercoaster a good musician wants us to feel. In the same vein, Charlotte-based rock outfit Forever May Fall has quickly established itself from its peers with its uncanny ability to do just that; stir emotion in their listeners. With a slew of new music on the horizon, these upstarts have positioned themselves for a breakout year as their dynamic performances and vision continue to inspire. Forever May Fall was founded in 2017, with the founding members being united by their love of metal and creating original music. They’ve cultivated a sound that impressively balances melodic harmonies with powerful, gruff vocals and wickedly heavy rock riffs. Their electrifying presence and transparent, emotional lyricism has allowed them to build a loyal following, and with every release, they enchant more and more new listeners. Their latest release, “Who You Are,” sees them continue to uphold the stellar standard they set for themselves with beloved releases like “Aftermath” and “Undertow,” and it's the latest exciting stop on their exhilarating musical journey. About “Who You Are,” Forever May Fall says that it “was written about finding out the true colors of people you thought were close to you.” In many ways, “Who You Are” mimics the perilous ups and downs of having and maintaining a relationship with those who are two-faced and toxic towards you, with melodic and soaring verses elevating the listener before thunderous rage swells forth in subsequent verses, dyeing everything red with anger. It’s a powerful release that swells with emotion, but that’s part of what makes it so appealing; as with their other releases, “Who You Are” feels distinctly human, and the hurt and raw emotion conveyed in their performance feels extremely relatable. Forever May Fall’s latest release, “Who You Are,” is a powerful and emotion-packed release that details the pain, anger, and solitude you feel when dealing with someone you thought you had a close relationship with, only to have them betray you. • Isabella Chiarini Refuses To Be Swept Into Your Games On “All Alone”

The Hamilton native is taking a stand for herself and her love. With an astounding ear for catchy melodies and a versatility that’s enabled her to keep her sound unique and fresh, Hamilton-based singer-songwriter Isabella Chiarini has become the perfect example of the good things that happen when you combine genuine love for music with natural artistic ability. Treating music like a healing outlet from life’s pressure, adversity, and challenges, Chiarini’s transparent and relatable lyricism has allowed her to forge genuine connections with her listeners and build a dedicated fanbase quickly. Chiarini has gone from strength to strength, and with new music on the horizon, we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us. It should come as no surprise that someone so dedicated to music was exposed to it at an early age. Chiarini got her first taste of music expression when she was 8, taking singing lessons with renowned Canadian vocal coach and author Teresa Nocita. This would be the catalyst to the beginning of a grand musical journey that would see Chiarini participate in singing competitions and auditions and even be noticed and signed to Nashville-based development out print PCG Universal. Having continued her partnership with Nocita in addition to having the 2007 winner of Canadian Idol, Brian Melo, in her songwriting corner, Chiarini has positioned herself to continue her meteoric ascent and stamp her legacy on a highly competitive scene. “All Alone” is many things. The release feels chic, defiant, and magnificent, but it also shows the continued growth and maturation of an artist who is just hitting her stride. Crisp production forms the basis for an immersive instrumental performance. Glossy guitar grooves and enticing snares line the track up before Chiarini’s vocal performance knocks it out of the park. Lines like “Won’t keep dreaming about the man I think you could be / I need to think of myself and let you go so I can heal” are delivered with a conviction that gives you chills, and you can’t help but root for her. In all a wonderfully cohesive performance back to front on “All Alone,” Chiarini continues to show why she’s one of the industry’s brightest talents. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Chiarini’s new release, “All Alone,” available now on all major streaming platforms. We loved “All Alone.” You really knocked it out of the park with this one! We had to ask, what was the inspiration behind this release? The inspiration behind “All Alone” was a toxic relationship. I was going through a rough patch with someone I really care about and sat down with my co-writer/vocal coach Teresa Nocita and told her about the situation, which is how this song was born. I wrote it about what I was feeling and, by the end, came to the realization of what I needed to do to resolve the situation and move forward. You mentioned that you frequently collaborate with your mentors, Teresa Nocita and Brian Melo. What’s it like having them in your corner, and how have they influenced your growth as an artist? Having Teresa and Brian in my corner has been the biggest blessing to me. I have known them both since I was eight years old, so I feel super comfortable and have very good connections with them. Teresa is not only my vocal teacher/ co-writer, but she is like a mom to me. She has helped me in every aspect of life, which has been amazing. Brian is a great advice giver and mentor, which is super helpful. As a musician, what’s your favorite part of the creative process when you make new music? My favorite part of the creative process is receiving the first draft of the newly recorded song from the producer. There is all this anticipation from the hours you spend writing, recording, and editing, so it is very exciting when you finally get the product of all the work. If your audience could take one thing away from your music, what would you want it to be? I like to leave my music up to the listener's interpretation. Whatever the listener is needing to hear at that time, whether it be advice, joy, or even if they need a good cry, I hope they can find what they need by listening to one of my songs. What’s next for Isabella Chiarini? What plans do you have coming up on the horizon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans? I will be in the studio at the end of August to record a new single that I will be releasing by the end of the year. I also have a few shows coming up, the closest one being at the Winona Peach Festival in Ontario, Canada August 26th. Instagram

  • Sheva Elliot Heats Things Up On New Single, “Clothes In The Kitchen”

If you’re into rock’n’roll, Sheva Elliot is a name you want to remember. The multi-talented songstress is poised to release her highly anticipated debut album in the summer of 2023, and it promises to be a banger. With a crazy range that sees her equally as comfortable singing Motown or Metal, her ability to excel in multiple ways and styles has quickly separated her from most of her peers, and she’s one to watch for the future. Recorded live to tape at the historic Sonic Ranch Studios in El Paso, Texas, Sheva's upcoming album (out Summer 2023) was recorded using the same console that some of her idols, such as Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye, and the Jackson 5 used as well. This collection of nine tracks showcases Sheva's writer and performer range. Her soulful roots are ever-present, but she's not afraid to experiment and venture out into new territory, incorporating psych & glam rock, pop, & gospel sounds into her artistic repertoire. The first single off the album “Clothes in the Kitchen,” however, sees Sheva channel one of the most classic and respected sounds today. It's a rollicking, upbeat rock’n’roll offering with touches of soul that will have you tapping your feet and singing along in no time. Over the rock’n’roll instrumentals, Sheva drops gems such as “This is real life / Not the movies” and “Could I ever make ya happy / Would you rather be alone,” which immediately get stuck in your head. The sky is the limit, and we can’t wait to see how far Sheva Elliot will take it, one vibe at a time. Sheva Elliot’s “Clothes in the Kitchen” is a good old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll introduction to a songstress poised to break out and at the top of her game. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and steam “Clothes in the Kitchen,” available now on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Sheva Elliot. We loved “Clothes in the Kitchen,” what an intro to your music! What made you decide on “Clothes in the Kitchen” as one of your lead singles for your upcoming album? Thank you! "Clothes in the Kitchen" is just so much fun. It departs from the first single I released, Land of the Free, a political rock anthem. Land of the Free is very much steeped in reality, as it speaks to socio-political issues that, quite frankly, enrage me. "Clothes in the Kitchen," on the other hand, is a song around which I got to build a campy world and play. I also got to live out my MTV Hair Metal heaven fantasies in the music video. The album focuses less on the macro and more on the micro – as in my relationship with myself and others. How did you first get involved in making music? Was it something you always knew you wanted to do or something that you decided on later? I started singing when I was four and writing songs soon after. I’d say music chose me more than I chose it. What has been your favourite part of your musical journey so far? There have been so many good moments, but the most fun I’ve had thus far has been hearing the album come to life! I recorded it and stayed at Sonic Ranch in El Paso. It’s a giant artist retreat in the desert, away from the city, with tons of musicians rolling in and out. We’d be dining with a different band at the communal table each week, sharing stories and upcoming projects, and birthing new collaborations. I learned as much at that dinner table as in the studio. What do you want your fans to feel when they listen to your music? So much of my musical influence stems from classic/blues rock, Motown, and soul. I recorded the album live to tape as an homage to those who helped build my sound, and I want my listeners to be transported when they hear the music. I also hope each listener can recognize a piece of themselves in my stories. And if they don’t see themselves, I hope they can at least shed a tear or have a good chuckle. So your new album drops this summer! What can we expect to hear on it, and are there any songs on that project that you’re especially excited for us to hear? Yes, it does, finally! Been a long time coming. You can expect to hear a range of genres – from psych to glam rock, to doo-wop, Motown, gospel, and soul. I’m pretty excited about The Canyon – that’s the psych-rock one, and the accompanying music video will have a tripped-out, Easy Rider vibe. Facebook Twitter
