  • Roll Up Your Sleeves And Hit The Field With Staunch Moderates "Bigfoots Football"

The Staunch Moderates Intellectual Movement was born from its founders' belief that a new ideology was needed to address and combat the intellectual and political divide that has taken hold in our society over the past four years. The movement's philosophy is rooted in addressing each other with thoughtful moderation when confronting intellectual and political differences rather than with the self-centred extremism that dominates such discourse today. The movement strives not only to close this divisive gap but also to achieve national and world peace, as they are on a mission to evaluate, negotiate, compromise and come to the most equitable conclusions and solutions as humanly possible. Bringing our attention to the deep seeded quintessence of Staunch Moderates, their latest body of work, "Mission Peace," comes to the foreground. Immersing listeners in the principles they strive for daily, each song caters to a different theme as they unravel pieces of themselves from these musical confessions of the heart. Tuning into the vibrant energy of "Bigfoots Football," the third song found on "Mission Peace," we're immediately in awe of the old-school hip-hop roots that Staunch Moderates continues to grow from. Prominent percussion hits mesh with bass-heavy rhythm, and the simplicity of the beat allows for such a clean foundation for the crisp vocals to be laid upon. Such a refreshing take, as it's not something you hear much of in today's day and age of modulated vocal takes and hyped-up ad-libs. The organic nature of Staunch Moderates has us propelled to a different era where what was important was the words coming out of your mouth. The punchy one-liners have life to them as they unfold through a storytelling premise effortlessly. On beat and carrying a prominent tenacity that boasts confidence, the lyrical talent remains playful yet bold as Staunch Moderates pushes the envelope and encompasses the energy of a sizzling guitar solo to add a little break in the rhymes. Overall, "Bigfoots Football" keeps us on our toes. From our minds closely following along to the witty lyrics professed and our bodies jiving along to the infectious rhythm in place, Staunch Moderates has you covered. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Staunch Moderates! We're thrilled to have you here chatting about "Bigfoots Football." With such a witty approach to the storytelling lyrics you profess, what inspired the creation of this song? First, off a taxidermy, Bigfoot channelled off of the Gas House Restaurant’s wall in Edwards, Colorado, while I was driving back in a blizzard from the 49ers vs Chiefs Super Bowl, 2020. That Bigfoot mask became the mascot for our Staunch Moderates Intellectual Movement, named “Staunch.” Once we had a Bigfoot as our mascot; being both Football & Baseball fans, America’s most beloved sports & remember we are an American philosophical movement, being familiar with trademark law from my previous showbiz career, we checked to see if Bigfoots Football & Bigfoots Baseball trademarks were available for expansion or rebranding team concepts, you know living the dream! They were, so we filed for them, and we’ve found ourselves in the expansion/rebranding team business ever since. In trademark law if you don’t use it, you lose it, so we used it to the best of our ability to build brands in music, sports, news & entertainment. Casanova used his amazing poetry talent and wrote the first verse for our Bigfoots Expansion/rebranding team theme song, “The Bigfoots are Coming!” I, GTS, am a huge football fan and have been to many games. Cas & I rolled up our sleeves & wrote the many more play-by-play and stadium pomp & circumstance verses: Kickoff, 1st, 2nd, 3rd down, & touchdown in our 6 Minute Music Video Short Film. This is actually our long form. We have different renditions of these Bigfoots Football Music videos. They’re really just like a Football Game but with a team of Bigfoots on the field, where you, the audience, are the opposing team! What has it been like working on a masterpiece like "Mission Peace"? Wow, thanks for the accolades! We really put a lot of work into the storytelling of our tracks and make our best effort to bring them home in a unique style (not what’s the popular motivated, more historical use of the genres and what we think is cool for our sound. So we hope this hard work and our creative choices bring special value to our audience members listening. How does it feel now that it's been released to the public? It feels good that we are actually getting our music listened to and our messaging out to the public, “peace through moderation with our over 73MM Views of our Music Video & Steams of our Audio tracks, both nationally and internationally. Ninety percent of our tracks are on point philosophically with our Movement, so like I said, we are getting our messaging out there! We hope to win the hearts and souls with these Football & Baseball concepts. We’re doing what we can do to de-escalate the Divide. What messages and emotions do you hope your audience can take away from your music? We, as the band “DJ Staunch and the Bigfoots” and as an intellectual movement share in the philosophy to celebrate all that is good in society, love and peace, and stylize it with our hip-hop music. If we were to have our druthers, we would like to create a worldwide consciousness that would help effectuate peace. Tall order? I know, but we have to try! How does that align with who you are as a movement? That totally aligns with our movement as described above. What success and challenges have you seen in your career by sticking to the foundations of hip-hop? The successes we’ve had are our 73MM Views and streams ( 22% of the U.S.), and our four ballot bids at the Grammys over the last two years for: “Best Rap Song,” Best Rap Album, Best Rock Performance, and Album of the Year. I’ve got to say, “a nomination would be great for getting our messaging out there! Other challenges include when collaborating with seasoned musicians. They understandably have a chip on their shoulder. That chip is that hip hop is significantly buying beats and then rapping to said beats. Someone like me can come in and orchestrate the parts together without being a seasoned musician. They see this low barrier to entry to their career space, something they worked years for and is so talented at. Therefore, it’s not always warm and fuzzy doing business in the studio. What does the raw nature of this genre mean to you? It provides an access into what I love to do to communicate the messaging of our movement and making styling music to do so. What's next for you? • iVANA Wants You To Bounce Back Like A “YO-YO”

Channelling her deepest and most raw emotions through her music, recording artist iVANA returns with the newly released single, "YO-YO." What's unique about the wistful creations of iVANA has to be that her songs reflect significant moments in her life and are manifested through ethereal and dreamlike soundscapes. Standing especially true with "YO-YO," the textures that surface through a myriad of vocal layers unveil the many sides of iVANA as she professes intimate lyrics like "I feel like I can fly, but I might be too high. I wanna run away to a place where no one knows my name." Through the vulnerable edge that welcomes us into her genuine quintessence, she is a master of contrast by illuminating such an energetic track with authentic and candid wording. The upbeat and lively ambiance that oozes from this record casts out the ultimate dancescape in this electronic meets contemporary R&B-styled record, as the effervescent instrumentation is playful and cheeky, almost mimicking a pop sound. Providing the musical foundation with a soft yet prevailing cascade of timbres, iVANA makes "YO-YO" a multi-textured, genre-bending bop that's impossible to ignore. Recruiting the artistic talents of Brodie Harvey to enhance the dynamism that's laced within "YO-YO," the two manage to match each other's energy while bringing a refreshing take to the bubbly dreamscape at hand. Rich in the emotional seasoning that one another pours out, "YO-YO" is a magnetic representation of the inner findings of iVANA's mind and we love every moment of it. Welcome to BuzzMusic, iVANA! We love the release of your latest single, "YO-YO." With such a contrast of energy from the vocal approach to the instrumentation, what or who inspires your unique sound? My two biggest influences are Santigold and Lykke Li; I adore them and their music. I'm still trying to figure out what genre best represents my sound, but those two musicians have influenced my taste. Most of my songs are about events in my life (a lot of chaos) and how they have impacted me. So I'd say my surroundings are another factor that influences my sound. As an artist - how did you find yourself on this creative route to success? At what moment did you know you were meant to create music? I knew I wanted to build a name for myself since I was young, but I didn't know what medium it would be until 2012. Tumblr shaped who I am today, and the girls that used it at the time are undoubtedly the baddest bitches today. I used to be interested in photography and film, and I would have my friends model for me, but I got bored and turned to sing and poetry. I would wait for my parents and sister to leave the house, and I would blast karaoke and produce beats on my keyboard. It wasn't until my junior year of college that I realized I wanted to pursue my music more seriously and make it a career. I hosted, planned, and played at many DIY basements and venues in the Burlington, Vermont, area - it was a trip. My sound has evolved significantly since then, but I continue to perform and believe that my eclectic stage persona is hypnotic. Let's get into the inspiration behind "YO-YO." Is there a particular moment or story that this song is based on? How did the collaboration with Brodie Harvey come to be? A seemingly endless YouTube “type beat” scroll led me to find the producer of this ethereal track. YO-YO heals the wounds of those who have grown distant from their inner child - I'm drawing you back into yourself. That inner child who was never exposed to many prominent platforms populated by people who shared her style and voice. Brodie Harvey is my lovely boyfriend who produces music, sings, and plays several instruments. We met at a rooftop party but didn't connect for a month. I'll never forget the day we walked around Brooklyn and made music in his makeshift bedroom studio. He now has a studio space in Brooklyn with friends, so we spend a lot of time there making music with other artists and each other. He helps me record all of my songs and provides helpful critiques to help me see things in a new light. He's my ride-or-die. If your audience could take away one message from this song - what would you want it to be? As someone who struggles with mental illness, it is easy to see the world as dreary and worthless. The sole purpose of this song was to reconnect me and others to their playful side, to let their hair down and smile at the sun. It may seem cliché, but hearing the first few notes of the YO-YO makes me happy, and I hope everyone feels the same way too. What's next for you? I’m releasing another single on March 8th called CAN’T. It's a song about feeling suffocated after people continue to disrespect the boundaries I've established. I'm also stoked for my gig with Breaking Sound at the Purgatory in Brooklyn on March 7th. Instagram

  • Gipp & Worthy Are Sitting Amidst The Stars On “TOTW”

The music industry is one that is ever-evolving and constantly producing new sounds and styles. It is always refreshing to see two industry legends like Big Gipp of Goodie Mob and James Worthy come together to create a masterpiece such as their debut EP 'Gipp N Worthy.' With this EP, the duo has managed to capture the essence of love, relationships, and life in a way that is both relatable and captivating. One of the standout elements of 'Gipp N Worthy' is the balance between soulful vocals and classic hip-hop beats. The EP manages to seamlessly blend the two genres to create a unique and refreshing sound. This is most evident in the EP's lead single, "TOTW." The song is a perfect representation of the EP as a whole and showcases the duo's ability to create music that is both timeless and modern. In "TOTW," the listener is taken on a journey through a love relationship that is both passionate and turbulent. The first verse details the highs and lows of the relationship, with Gipp describing the intense emotions that come with being in love. The second verse takes a metaphoric turn as he compares his relationship with music to that of a romantic partnership. This clever use of metaphor is one of the many reasons why "Gipp N Worthy" stands out from other contemporary releases. As we enter “TOTW” we are greeted with an otherworldly synth pad that makes you feel like you’ve just entered a spaceship on its way to another galaxy. Like a true future classic, the beat of "TOTW" is a seamless blend of hip-hop and R&B elements, with a smooth, laid-back vibe that complements the song's emotional lyrics about life, perspectives, and journeys of the heart and soul. The instrumentation features an endlessly deep bass which is boldly layered over with crisp organic drums that somehow remind you of a warm summer rain providing a strong foundation for the sailing vocals of James Worthy. Big Gipp's verses are characterized by his smooth flow and confident delivery, with clever wordplay and vivid imagery that paint a clear picture of the intense emotions involved in a romantic relationship. For example, lines like “everything and everybody out here trying me/changed my numbers, blocked the gram, ain’t no finding me” really give you a true sense of self and what it takes to acquire that peace of mind we all seek. The resonating bass line provides a smooth, groovy foundation that perfectly complements the song's soulful vocals. Without a doubt 'Gipp N Worthy' showcases that true talent and raw creativity will never come second to the over-saturation of blandness that usually comes with most modern songs, the two industry legends demonstrate that easily. The EP's ability to blend soulful vocals and classic hip-hop elements is a testament to the duo's versatility and innovation. With its relatable lyrics and unique sound, 'Gipp N Worthy' is sure to become a classic in the music industry and a favourite among fans for years to come. Get wise to "TOTW" right now, available on all major platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic Gipp & Worthy. Cheers to another dropping another gem with "TOTW." With such intricate lyrics that describe a world between two people in the first verse and a relationship with music in the second verse. How do these two relationships intersect for you personally? And what inspired you to write about them in this way? The project is about life, love, and relationships, which can be in the form of different things. With "TOTW," we wanted to approach it with a different writing style, along with tackling 2 topics at once. The metaphor of music as a love relationship is a unique and powerful one in "TOTW." How did you come up with this idea, and what message do you hope listeners take away from it? It came from my inconsistent and non-consistent relationships. Some of them made me feel like I was on top of the world, so I wanted to revisit that vibe in song format. The song is meant to not only make you feel good but put your own thoughts about your situation in perspective. The 'Gipp N Worthy' EP blends elements of classic hip hop and R&B with more contemporary sounds. How do you balance honoring the traditions of these genres while also pushing the boundaries and evolving creatively? I'm a creative so I'm never one to put myself in a box. With this project, I wanted to go back to a 90's vibe but with my own twist that Gipp would complement. I think we accomplished that well. Also, the style of music, I listen to in my off time gives me the inspiration to continue to create more and more. The 'Gipp N Worthy' EP is a collaborative project between two seasoned music industry professionals. How did your past experiences and collaborations influence the creative direction of this project, and what did you learn from each other in the process? It influenced it alot because each project was a growing phase to become better and better. I think this project shows where I'm at as an artist and the things I've had to go through to get to this point. The 'Gipp N Worthy' EP has received critical acclaim since its release, debuting at #9 on the R&B/Soul iTunes chart, with such promise, does this mean we can expect more collabs together again in the future? and if so, what can fans expect from your next project? Yes! It has been amazing to watch so far. Yes, you will continue to get more music, more collaborations, and maybe even a Gipp N Worthy 2! Instagram Facebook

  • We're Out Here “Livin’ Life” With Master Yeti

Chi-town native Master Yeti started with a bang, experimenting with multiple genres in 2017 through family influences such as his father, who is a gifted pianist and Minister of Music at Mount Joy Baptist Church in Chicago and an uncle who passed but left behind a well-acclaimed legacy with his left-handed bass-playing skills. After honing his craft at Columbia College Chicago through an art scholarship, the sky was the limit for Yeti as he saw an opportunity to build his portfolio and knowledge as a graphic and web designer, which would later come in handy for the future fashion house he and his brother would create in 2015. There was seemingly no challenge Yeti wasn't up for as he re-directed his expertise and focus towards creative design, artist development and music production and even founded his own company to house his new artistic ventures, which he aptly named “Yeti Studios”. In 2019 an already well-rounded Yeti would release his first single, “On My Own,” which showed off a rip that he always had flow. Enter 2023: a cool 4 Million streams amassed through past songs, TikTok influencers dancing to his #LivinLifeChallenge and a flashy self-directed visual, Master Yeti isn't holding back with his new single “Livin’ Life.” You get a real sense of an accomplished history knowing that what you hear on “Livin’ Life” is Yeti through and through, as he gives you his story, where he came from and where he is now. From his first song till now, he has stayed consistent with crisp production and vocals on full display. A resounding 808 demands your attention as soon as the beat drops and compliments the eerie sample that sails across the song from start to finish, pure fire. Don't miss Master Yeti’s latest drop, “Livin’ Life,” available on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic Master Yeti, and congratulations on your latest release, “Livin’ Life”; it has been a long journey from then till now; what would you say was the point at which you knew music was the direction you wanted to put most of your focus in? I started producing and was having difficulty getting the right artists to jump on a beat. I needed to get my beats heard, so I had no option but to get behind the mic. After I wrote and laid down my first track, On My Own, there was no turning back. As a well-cultured artist, are there any genres you would like to experiment with that you haven't yet? Glad you asked! I listen to all genres of music and constantly save tracks from sampling. Right now, I'm extremely eager to dabble in the pop genre. It's such a positive vibe and can reach a larger audience. As the son of a musical family, did you pick up playing any instruments as a child? Since my dad and great-grandma played the piano, I think I naturally leaned toward learning the piano. I learned to play by ear when I was about 7. As a child, my grandmother had me singing tenor in our church choir too! We may be wrong, but it seems like you like Ferraris; what’s the fastest you’ve ever driven in one? (we won't tell!) Hahaha! You are right, I've always liked fast cars. I think the fastest I've ever driven was about 100mph. What can we expect next from Master Yeti? Is there a complete project in the works? I'm preparing to perform on stage at SXSW and working on my first album, Yeti Season. I'm aiming to drop it in Spring 2023. The album is coming together and will showcase my versatility as a producer. You'll hear influences from Gospel, Trap, Drill, Afrobeat, and other surprises. You'll have to listen to the album to see it! Instagram TikTok

  • Stretch Your Minds Vibrational Capacity With “Zero to One”

Founded in basements, bedrooms, and anywhere sound makes a song, {[(gang radio)]} is the solo project of Daniel Morris (Masonique, Masseter, Perseveration, White Rooms). Based in Portland, Oregon, Daniel Morris began {[(gang radio)]} as an outlet for the unconscious thoughts and melodies swirling around his brain that were ready to emerge. Building tones upon drones and looping a starting point as a launchpad for the song to come, {[(gang radio)]} envelopes the listener in waves of sound. Drone and patterns are taking shape and becoming what they will, through a combination of trombone, guitar, cello, and keys -. {[(gang radio)]} forges a sound that can be traced to many improvised influences. Using the power of a purely instrumental foundation and the unorthodox approach of non-traditional instruments in their original state, the modulated sounds of {[(gang radio)]} push the envelope and force listeners to a deeper place of reflection. "Zero To One" is the latest creative masterpiece brewing from Daniel Morris's mind, and the anticipation it leaks through the speakers is rather intense. The slow burn of each distorted melody forms a powerful magnetism that lures us into the anticipation {[(gang radio)]} instills into this record. There's a burgeoning longing {[(gang radio)]} portrays as the rich tapestry of effects encompassing a dimensional ambiance that those looking in on wish to explore. Further fusing an energetic wave of textures as this well-rounded composition plays into a balance of low to high-frequency elements, "Zero To One" invites you into its embrace as the psychedelic nature of the song provides variety. Carving out impeccable placement within each musical component forming a larger-than-life concept, while listening to "Zero To One," you're entrapped in the atmospheric grasp of light pushing its way through dark moments. Much like the words {[(gang radio)]} lives by, "Forever let the light shine, even if it's the darkest light you can muster," we see the quintessence of {[(gang radio)]} propelling forward in an eclectic record like "Zero To One." Welcome to BuzzMusic, {[(gang radio)]}! You're a master at creating such thought-provoking soundscapes, and we adore the sound you've come to make for yourself. What can you tell us about the concept and inspiration behind "Zero To One?" Thank you! These last couple of years have brought a shift in most aspects of life that we’ve been accustomed to for so long, and while it’s helped some realize their dreams, it’s also pushed others to further edges of society. It feels as if it was a long time coming and, in some ways, a needed fire below us to allow for a change in what we’ve held onto as the norm for the way things are or how we thought they should be. Traveling this past year and witnessing the dark side of things and the lighter gave way to this picture of what is and what could be. There’s always been strife and struggle, but the day-to-day choices I make have an impact and hope that, in the end, I’ve existed, causing the least suffering possible. Zero to One carries a heavy, distorted feel throughout but has a kinder, almost nurturing resolve, which gives the impression that everything will be alright. It’s like a heavy mantra that things may feel doom and gloom, but there are also the good days reminding us of the beauty that exists and the beauty we can create, sometimes due to a crumbling world around us. Where do you seek your inspiration from? Your music has a cinematic and theatrical feel, and we can't help but wonder if you're inspired by film. Film has always played a significant role in my life, whether as the audience or having a hand in making a picture. It’s one of those mediums that captures so much in one sitting, combining so many facets of art into one whole piece. I’ve often had people comment after a show that they closed their eyes during the set and had visuals passing by, influenced by the music. I’ve also seen some drawings made while playing a show, and they’ve got an otherworldly, trippy vibe. I can relate to the cinematic feel of the music and pacing, and I try to allow the sounds and movie to write themselves while I’m a breath keeping the lights flickering behind the reel. What I generally do with {[(gang radio)]} is built on a base layer of noise, drone, and loops that keep adding layers until it takes shape into something different. Kind of like a background or scenery change to keep the movie flowing and find a plane to relax on until a cloud comes by to take you to the next one. The inspiration comes in many forms and from most directions, incorporating the sound of an input into a loop, adapting to a natural feel and then manipulating those sounds into the next. Happy accidents that become part of a song or that push to shift somewhere wholly different. While almost exclusively instrumental music, there’s always the intention of healing and release to the movie in mind. At what moment did you know that you'd be creating under the alias {[(gang radio)]}? What steps and awakening moments have you gone through to get to the point of releasing your music to the public? The name {[(gang radio)]} came up many years ago on a bike ride with some friends and a wind-up radio in someone’s basket. There was an initial joke of making this “gang” into a band, but it never came to fruition. The name stayed in my mind, and I even made some buttons before making any music under that moniker, but I figured I could be a gang of one if the group wasn’t going to happen. After playing in many bands for some years and writing very organized and intentional songs, I made these soundscapes using instruments and pedals I wasn’t utilising in my other projects. It became more of an exercise to release any negative energy from the day-to-day and let loose from any constraints traditional songwriting can have. Leading up to playing out with {[(gang radio)]}, I was amassing quite a few tracks, recording most every time I picked up an instrument at home, and felt that it could translate well to an album or live setting, filling the space that surrounds the in between. It sounds that fit well and created an atmosphere that could play in the background or be the driving force of what’s coming next, so I began sorting and selecting pieces for release and some time later started playing gigs. From a production standpoint, you often get inspired by the energy each day brings. Does this mean that no exploration is off-limits for your sound? How do you stay within your creative boundaries? I try to leave things open for exploration when making this music. Odd tunings on the guitar to whatever feels right that day, bringing out instruments I haven’t touched in a long time, adding more synthesizer pieces and “in the box” production. I feel most of this music follows a particular sound, and you could probably find many influences. Still, I’ve usually made it without a first thought, just a breath or capturing that first sound out of an instrument and going from there. A very accessible jazz approach but lacks some of those “jazz” elements that we attribute to that style of music. Regardless of my attempt to break any rules and instead of making more noise records, some of my classic music training inherently comes out and finds some melody with the noise that naturally compliment the other sounds. Certainly, an openness to no-limit exploration. It’s just about getting slightly beyond the roots tied to my knowledge. In a way, those boundaries set by what we think we know keeps us from straying too far off the path, but if you’re making your trail, it’s a practice of release to try to break any walls made for us or by us. There’s a lo-fi approach to some of the older recordings I’ve got due to technology constraints of that time and sometimes just using what I had at the moment to capture what was happening. Still, I have moved more into the framework of multiple tracking techniques and somewhat fewer one-take pieces built in that instance. There’s been a greater focus now on planning out a bit more of what I’m doing, whereas everything before was improvised entirely and at the moment, but even still, it all begins with whatever notes start a piece and build from there. Every breath, a tone, every heartbeat, a rhythm. What are you excited about in 2023? I’ve got a lot in the works with a few projects, including my next {[(gang radio)]} release, a new Masonique record coming out around September w/ tour (drums), and Masseter has a couple of releases coming soon (bass). Antikythera has a record and shows coming up (bass). Music nonstop. Also excited for that significant shift in consciousness this year, that we can all help our fellow humans any way we can and that animal rights = human rights. Peace begins in the kitchen. • Ben Fairey Ignites a Thought-Provoking Concept in “Where You Are”

Notorious for his skill set in as a singer-songwriter, music producer, voice actor and motion capture artist, Ben Fairey made a lucrative earning in the UK as a composer for touring theatre troupes. From being part of a collective to venturing the solo route throughout his musical career, he continues expanding his musical and visual fields. Ben Fairey has recorded music using a mixture of analogue and digital sound palettes, producing a hybrid of both ultra-modern and retro-inspired material. He even integrated green screen and motion capture technology into the visual accompaniments for the compositions, creating a series of videos reflecting the songs' lyrical subject matter. This can be seen and heard with the latest release of "Where You Are," a musical endeavor that reflects the unique styling of Ben Fairey's artistry. As we navigate through this dark and enigmatic soundscape, Ben Fairey pours his heart into such an eccentric offering that moulds our minds as soon as we press play. The larger-than-life atmosphere is graced with sparse percussion, moody synths and the bellowing timbres of Ben Fairey as he conveys pure emotion and catapults through our speakers with abstract wisdom. Yet, within the decadent layers of harmonious bliss he professes, there lays a poignant message ready to be uncovered as "Where You Are" is intended to be a full-circle return prompting our beliefs that being consumed by virtual reality isn't the issue - it's our escape as humans to try and get by as we rely on these tools at our fingertips. Paired with infectious visuals that have us tunnel-visioned into the black and white illustrations so, creatively inviting us into a parallel play on the human mind - Ben Fairey artistically fuses these images with a message to stay calm and trust the process for something to go well. We're thrilled to embrace the power and well-thought-out narratives that Ben Fairey brings to the table. "Where You Are" is only a figment of the imaginative expressions he has in store for us as we patiently await his next release. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Ben Fairey! We're thrilled to have you here discussing your latest release, "Where You Are." With such a witty and bold concept running through this release's veins, was there a particular moment or story that inspired this concept? Thank you! It was more of an accumulation. The lyrics came from listening to old-fashioned love songs because there’s poetry in them, which you don’t hear so much anymore. Now things are more open, and people reference modern technology, but there’s a subtlety in the work of 1960s lyricists. I spent a lot of time playing with different sounds for this track because I wanted to sing something with an old style using modern production techniques. We always love when an artist approaches a music video with illustrations in today's day and age - especially if it powerfully embodies the song's charisma. What prompted you to take this route, and who did you work with to execute the visuals? The CGI footage was captured at the Imaginarium, a motion capture facility founded by Andy Serkis. I do motion capture acting in LA now, but I’d done some training at studios in London, so thanks to them, I managed to get some footage to use for the videos. The video was put together by Joe Patch, a friend of mine who I’ve worked with on some film projects. How does "Where You Are" compare to other releases in your music catalogue? It’s probably more peaceful and a bit more reflective. Sometimes I think it’s also got an emotional farewell-at-the-train-station, 1950s movie scenario, making it pretty distinctive from the rest. But that’s just me! What do you aim to make your audience feel when they listen to your creations? I don’t aim to make them feel one particular emotion. If anyone listened to my work, they’d have to be willing to ask themselves what they’re feeling or use their intellect to decide what the song means to them. I remember hearing songs about one subject, but it would mean different things depending on where I was or what I was doing. My songs are kind of a reflection of the way the brain reacts when it’s exposed to music. What's next for you? More voice acting, more motion capture acting, more music. I’d like to do more travelling soon, too. Instagram

So bask in the greatness of “Sass,” and don’t be surprised if it finds its way to your favorite playlist. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Siena! We’re thrilled to have you here discussing your latest release of “Sass.” With such witty lyrics and upbeat energy, is this song inspired by a particular moment or story in your life? I told my co-writer and producer Don Miggs I hadn’t heard a fun girls' night out a song in a while, so I thought, why not write one! We know country music has many sides to it through the stories often shared. Do you prefer creating more energetic pieces, or do you prefer to get more intimate with your emotions? I like both! I enjoy sharing my different writing styles. With Sass, you can see the fun, outgoing side of me, but with some future projects I have, you might be able to see a more serious side. We loved the visuals and how they represent you and the song's premise! How did you draw inspiration for the music video that pairs with “Sass?” Thank you! I wanted to showcase my western and outgoing side with the scenes we filmed. Since horses are such a big part of my life, I wanted to make sure my horse Gracie had her cameo! What has it been like to share the stage with some of your idols like Rascal Flatts, Big & Rich, and Rodney Atkins? Anytime I share the stage with an artist, big or small, it’s a beautiful opportunity. You can learn so much just from watching one another. We are all doing what we love, singing and performing country music. What’s next for you? There’s a lot to come as I grow in my music journey. I want to give listeners my honest self at all times, great music they can relate to and give them an at-home feeling. Instagram

  • Yulo Reminds Us Of Home With “Grow Old With You”

Julius Korbela aka Yulo is a multi-instrumentalist from Slovakia who effortlessly ties his production and songwriting skills together with his gift for storytelling. Yulo’s journey led him to the world of EDM where he and his music partner Wole Agbaje would go on to create a sound together under the moniker “HYTES," a name that would come to match their dreamy in-the-clouds sound. With all that Yulo learned from his experience with EDM he decided it was time to put his knowledge towards a new genre and build himself up as a new solo pop artist. Refining his sound to a more organically personal tone Yulo gives us a first-hand look at his latest single, "Grow Old With You." As we enter the world of “Grow Old With You,” we are greeted with a very polished guitar riff that gives a warm campfire vibe that would make anyone want to cozy up for storytime. Yulo tastefully displays his classic EDM production style through his key sound selection, such as the heavy electric guitar in the chorus that gives the song a new energy, mixed with his bright poppy vocals “Grow Old With You” effortlessly sends festival-worthy rhythms to deliver us a fusion of a mood that can only be described as “future-nostalgia." His intentions come through with a pure adoration for his significant other even though it comes to a lonely road in the end. Lines like “Only you can make me feel like home/You’re the only one I wanna grow old with” truly make you reminisce about that first spark of love you ever felt. If you’re feeling cold "Grow Old With You" is sure to warm you up, check it out on all streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic Yulo! Your talents really show on "Grow Old With You," with such an electric-focused genre under your belt with EDM did you find it difficult to transition to a more mellow tone? Thank you so much for having me. I didn’t find it difficult in fact, the transition was much easier than I thought. EDM music is a very difficult genre from the production perspective, and because I’ve been doing EDM music for some time, I’ve learnt a lot from it. Now I feel like pop music is a little bit easier type of genre which is good because I can be more consistent with releasing more music. Of all the genres to experiment with, what drew you towards pop from EDM? Well, I always felt that I am closer to pop music and my vocal fits in better my lyrics were always about love and heartbreak which I guess is more common in pop music. What's the message you'd like people to take away from "Grow Old With You?" That’s a good question there’s not really a message for people because this song is about the girl that I liked and later on she lost her interest in me, but she didn’t want to tell me, so I had to ask what was going on. But I wasn’t really heartbroken because I asked early enough. So yeah, maybe I would say don’t be afraid to ask and talk if you feel like something is wrong. The more you wait the more it’ll hurt when it comes to it. What is your favorite DAW to use? And why? My favorite DAW to use is FL Studio. I mean, of course, I tried different DAWs like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase etc. But I started with FL Studio and I stay loyal to it haha. What is next for Yulo after this first release? Well, I have a bunch of songs I am currently working on. There’s one that’ll probably be my next release, and it’s a bit fuller with some interesting electronic-sounding elements and a catchy drop. And after that, I am planning on doing an acoustic version of these two releases as well as some collaborations, which will be in my native language and more, so definitely stay tuned. • Take A Ride To Forever As Nicolette Guides You To Your “Arrival”

Singer/songwriter Nicolette has always been searching for something more profound; writing her first song elegantly named “Birds & Butterflies” at the age of 7, it was clear that she was destined to pursue a new path and arrive at something bigger than herself. Nicolette Began her journey born and raised in Florida until December of 2021 when she moved to Charlotte, NC. Still, it wasn't until a fateful day in January of 2022, after enduring the breakup of a 4-year relationship, that she would decide to fully embark on the road to destiny, turning her daydreams into reality and leaving her past in the rear-view: Enter “Arrived” a haunting reminder of how vulnerable and helpless love can make us when it’s real. Nicolette delivers what can only be described as a beautifully ghostly performance and gives us what feels like a backseat view of a deep heartbreak which plays out during a somber car ride. With lyrics like “But you're driving slower than you usually do / The GPS says 5 minutes, is that it? Is that all that's left of our forever?” “Arrived” paints a pure and raw portrait of what it feels like to hold on till the last goodbye of love and asks us the question, “where do we go from here?”. “Arrived” begins, and we are greeted with a bar of melancholic chords tucked under a lonely feeling piano riff which guides us to the song's opening statement, “How did it come to this?” Nicolette’s calm melodic vocals, delayed in the background, are accented by a deep kick that seems to pulse like a skipping heart washed out by a dark and drowning reverb. When the chorus hits, a harmony of strings crescendos into a hopeful symphony and almost makes you forget the sad story being told as if there is still a chance at finding what was lost, only to be reminded that the ride was destined to end from the start—a genuinely moving song from an emerging artist who is not afraid to tell it like it is. Listen to “Arrived” today on all major streaming platforms…and bring a tissue. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Nicolette! We loved “Arrived;" we truly wanted the ride and this song to last forever. How did it feel the first time you wrote a song about heartbreak? It felt very freeing to find the words to describe what I was going through and turn something painful into something beautiful. It made me feel I had control over the pain by choosing what I wanted to do with it and what I wanted to turn it into. Your sound is very personal and intimate, and recording can be very emotional. Do you tend to record yourself in your own space or prefer working with a studio/engineer? I prefer working with a producer/engineer because I love bouncing creative ideas back and forth with someone and having someone who's able to add on pieces that I would have never thought of adding; however, I must find a producer/engineer that I feel comfortable with where I can allow myself to be in a vulnerable state. I'm lucky the producer I worked with (Tim Campbell) is very open and encouraging. Your lyrics are very raw and unapologetic; how long did it take for you to feel comfortable with taking a more unfiltered approach to songwriting? I've been songwriting for many years, and I've always written very raw lyrics for as long as I can remember. I used to be very private with my songs and only used songwriting as therapy for whatever I was going through. So it was very easy to write honest lyrics, but I still struggled publicly sharing those songs. I try not to focus on what someone could say about my lyrics but on who they might help, even if they only support me. If you had to describe your music in 3 colors, what would they be? and why? I love this question because I have synesthesia and associate much of my work with colors. I would say the three colors would be yellow, orange, and purple. Yellow is a color of comfort to me, and I find comfort in vulnerability. Much of what I write comes from a vulnerable state, and I like to keep it as unfiltered as possible. Purple is like a border color between dark and light (moreover leaning towards dark). I feel my lyrics and style come across as darker in meaning with a bit of hope. Lastly, I would say white. I like to think that my style reflects parts of the shadowself, the parts we're taught and told to hide, be ashamed of, and change. But I see the shadowself as the purest, most authentic part of who we are. And, of course, white is associated with being the purest color. What's next for you? I will be releasing 1 or 2 more singles before releasing a larger project, as well as some music videos and some shows, and I have a few more projects in the works. Instagram TikTok

  • Go Through It All Again With the Red Skirts’ Latest, “We’ve Been Through This Before”

The Red Skirts is the steadily growing, up-and-coming, indie-pop love child of SoCal natives Lewis Bustamante, Cris, and Randz Angelo. Beginning in late 2021 by vocalist Lewis Bustamante – it took years of personal struggle, self-doubt, and insecurity, which prevent The Red Skirts from moving forward. But, with the momentum they’ve been putting forth, they’ve found a new element to instill within the indie genre. Through lush guitar riffs and an eclectic flair that shines a light on The Red Skirts’ uniqueness, “We’ve Been Through This Before” is the latest single from their music catalog. Dazzling from a brilliant warmth that radiates from the entire quintessence of this sincere ballad, the slow tempo sways you into a dreamy atmosphere rich in potent messaging. The Red Skirts profess poetic songwriting that allows every word to nuzzle itself in your mind comfortably. Performing with a tender ease that branches out upon the hypnotic melodies visited, nothing feels forced as you take in “We’ve Been Through This Before.” There’s a vulnerability behind the story as the narrative describes a relationship that continues to crumble no matter how hard the couple attempts to work at it. When Bustamante’s angelic croons whisk you away in words, “We’re getting used to this. I’d apologize, but nothing ever comes of it,” we’re taken to a place of familiarity and relatability as the level of the word with us in an extensive manner. As the band comes together to indulge listeners in an elusive yet persuasive ether chalked full of heartrending rhythm and overflowing emotion, “We’ve Been Through This Before” encapsulates an energy you won’t want to miss out on. Welcome to BuzzMusic, The Red Skirts! It’s great to have you chatting with us about your latest heartfelt release, “We’ve Been Through This Before.” With an abundance of detail professed through the songwriting approach, what moment or story inspired the creation of this song? The inspiration for this song is very personal, and it’s something that I’ve never actually told anyone. People have asked me if this song is about me and who it’s about, but I never felt anyone else should know. One day though, I realized that there really are loads of people everywhere, probably feeling the same thing as I was feeling, so it almost felt like a necessity to write this track. “We’ve Been Through This Before” is a breakup song about me and an ex-girlfriend of mine. We’d often break up and get back together shortly after, and it was a very tiring experience for us both. One of us would call, and the other wouldn’t answer; we knew we couldn’t be together, but we couldn’t really help it, you get the point. Eventually, you get so tired you expect them never to leave because you’ve been through this before, so there’s no point in apologizing because nothing ever comes from it. All in all, not a good experience, haha. Please shine a light on the creative process that brought this song to life. Since I was a child, I have always imagined the songwriting process to be “grand” and almost commercialized, so I approach making our music the same way. Though, “We’ve Been Through This Before” wasn’t really written with that in mind. I remember being in my room a couple of years ago with my acoustic guitar trying to play what I felt. I want to write a humble and down-to-earth tune instead of the usual theatrical experience I try to give myself. There wasn’t much thought put into writing this song because the song really just wrote itself. I remember playing the main chord progression, recording the song, and finishing the song within the night. It was easy to write because this song is very much all me. This is probably the only song of mine that doesn’t have some sort of outside influence on how I was feeling at the time. Do you find it challenging to tap into the mighty rush of emotion showcased when you perform? Is there anything that helps you get in that headspace? I actually didn’t find it challenging to tap into my emotions at all, which is weird because I do my best to keep my emotions in check, so it’s not really often that I do tap into my emotions as I did here, so you would think that this would be a difficult song to write. At the time, though, I was having a bit of a mental dip, and my emotions were uncharacteristically leaking in a negative way. We all have those days, and all I wanted to do was vent without having to vent to anyone personally, so I let it pour out onto this track. I remember that day being a rainy, cloudy day, so I closed the curtains and did what I had to do in a dimly lit room. That is the atmosphere I felt the song had, so I tried to “become” the song in a way. Taking on musical influences like The 1975, Beaux, Beabadoobee, and Pale Waeves, how did you manage to create a sound true to you all while paying homage to the musicality of these bands? Much like my inspirations, artists like The 1975, Beaux, Beabadoobee, and Pale Waves have always found a way to make me feel personally addressed not only as an artist but also as a human. They have this quality of life and incredibly real mindset that I’m really drawn to and want to contribute to while allowing room for myself and the rest of the band to stand out. I know what their music has done for me and what it has done to me, and I’d like to be the reason people say the same about The Red Skirts, so I approach our music with that in mind. I’m not sure if that’s really considered paying homage, but it certainly feels like it. What’s next for you? If we’re talking about the near future, then I should be the one to tell you to expect more music very soon. From here, in the future, I’m hoping that we can continue to put out projects, grow as a band, put our names out there and be able to put out a full-length LP while also getting signed to our favorite label down the road. We’re working towards all that right now, and it’ll take time, but I’m sure we’ll get there. Instagram TikTok
