You've got us up on our feet after hearing your lively new single, "Dip For Me." What inspired you to create such a high-energy and playful hip-hop bop? Honestly, I wanted to bring some fun back to music. We have been getting away from living a party lifestyle as a society. Hence, I wanted to be the change I wanted to see by stepping out and saying hey, why so serious in my best joker impersonation. What was it like shooting the music video for "Dip For Me?" How did you come up with this workout class meets twerk session kind of vibe? I honestly wanted to do my version of the Kanye West Workout plan video and make it more modern and also do it in a way that showcases women in a different light. My good friend Senae does a hip-hop aerobics class, and I thought that would be great for the world to see because it’s a place I see women not only taking care of their health but also being able to be free and having fun. Women love to be in safe environments where they can be themselves, so I wanted to show them that there are other places besides the club where they can dance, be free, and get that summer body they dream of. What did you want to make listeners feel after hearing "Dip For Me?" What did you want the song to do for them? After you listen to "dip for me," I want my listeners to wanna get active and be in an uplifted spirit like they can take on any challenge, whether it be getting in shape or just having the courage to dance in public. I’m here to pass out good vibes and positivity. As long as they feel those vibes, I’ve done my job. How does "Dip For Me" stand out from the rest of your discography? What makes this song different? "Dip for me" is actually a song I want to use to promote dancing and partying; it’s a song I believe can touch all ages and all people. This song stands out because it is a definite mood changer. When you hear that beat drop, heartbroken, or extremely drunk partying, you're going to get the same uplifting vibe. What's next for you? More mood music, more great vibes, and more positivity coming from me, with love as the cherry on top. Instagram

And that's just what he and his band serve up in their newest single, "Anything At All." The band's alternative sound and power-pop edge offer this refreshing and stimulating element that's truly hard to resist. While the band smashes through our speakers with catchy melodies, huge riffs, and rhythmic drums, Payne encourages us to ignore the trends and societal pressures and be anything we want, "Anything At All." It's songs like these that make you realize how everyone is on their own unique path, and there's no rush to figure out where you're heading. Catch Justin Payne's newest single, "Anything At All," on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Justin Payne. We so appreciate the feel-good and inspirational concept within your new single, "Anything At All." What inspired you to write a song about being whoever and whatever you want to be? The initial inspiration came from a dream I had, which I will elaborate upon further. However, the root concept building and being your most authentic and healthy self is a radical act of rebellion these days. It doesn't take long in Music City to realize that conformity and homogeneity will get you a lot further toward "success", i.e. playing covers for indifferent tourists. The idea of being a rocker in Nashville is a good example. All that glitters isn't gold, and literally, all of the most inspiring and talented artists and musicians I know here operate completely outside the commercial music structures of the labels and the Country music establishment and are successful. They work, they earn money, and they survive doing what the hell they want to do. Punk rock ethos, in the face of the Nashville establishment. Sure, we all define our own metric for success, but I am pretty sure we are all shooting for fulfillment on some level, regardless of our artistic aspirations. A feeling of fulfillment that the industry as it stands does not serve or nourish. Nashville is so much more than a Country town. When the industry you work in runs anathema to all of these things, it gets pretty clear that being true to your artistic voice and fighting against the tide is, despite the rule of the labels and the illusion of mainstream success, the most empowering and healthy thing you can do. That's where the real stuff comes from. That's where this tune "anything at all" comes from. What was it like creating "Anything At All" with your band down in Nashville? How long did it take for this song to come to life? I had a super vivid dream in November 2021 that inspired the melody and strangely featured Paul McCartney as the bartender. I was just chatting him up while this song played on the radio in the background. I woke up and sang what would become the top line for the verses into my phone. I had the tune finished and demoed within the week. Sometimes, things just click like that, and I stopped asking where the stuff comes from long, long ago. I am just grateful to remember a dream every once in a while that acts to inspire a new tune! How many folks can claim they pluck their toplines from the literal subconscious ether?! What was the core takeaway you wanted listeners to experience from "Anything At All"? What was your mission with this song? This song is essentially about rebellion against our society's entertainment industries, socio-economic pressures, and cultural/gender /body norms. When the rules and the game are both created by the owning classes to corral and neuter our potential and value as human beings, the greatest act of rebellion one can make is to simply "say no" and go their own way with consequences and inherent societal punishments be damned. Specifically, the song is inspired by the artificial scarcity and gatekeeping evinced in the unethical and silly business practices of the record companies that strangle life and beauty out of most mainstream avenues for art and cultural exchange. All of this petty hustling in the name of commerce and social media metrics. In this light, to stay true to one's humanity as an artist and keep their soul from the capitalist wolves, I urge the listener to "be what the hell you wanna be, be anything at all, big or small", as an act of subterfuge and sabotage, an act of rebellion, to jam the gears of this broken and unjust society. Can you tell that I love me some post-war existentialism? Could you drop any hints about your band's upcoming Underrated/Overstimulated EP? What should listeners anticipate from that project? Without giving away too much, the EP (and eventual LP release) are going to be quite different in tone from my last release, "Season of Loss". I am pulling a lot more influence from punk rock, grunge, and garage rock but still keeping with my "dark and deep" lyrical approach. We recorded all of the songs live, to tape, with only a few overdubs for the entire project, with the goal being to convey the realness and electricity of the band rocking out these songs in the moment. No solos, no studio tricks, no artifice. Just a lyrically moving, raw, and rocking record, which I am proud to call my best work to date! More singles and music videos to come, so stay tuned! What's next for you? We are heading toward the EP release around the end of the year, and I am eager to get out and play these new songs live! Lots of Nashville local and US regional dates coming down the pipeline going into 2023. You've got to spread the gospel of your tunes live. Also, working on a remix / remaster of my last LP while intermittently writing the first couple tunes for the next one! An unsigned Nashville rocker can't rest for too long. Instagram
- Interview: Anika Releases A New Self-titled EP
Welcome to BuzzMusic, Anika! You have a new EP out titled "Anika" - we are SO excited to listen. You had two lead singles that were so fun and catchy. What else can we expect on the EP? Thank you for having me! I really wanted this EP to show the different sides of me as an artist, so you can expect a lot of different vibes, but all that is true to me as a singer. What has it been like creating the EP? Did you write all of the songs? It has been such fun yet hard work for over two years to create this EP. I have put so much into it, and it’s really like my baby at this point. I did actually write all of the songs on the EP, which was such an amazing learning process and experience. Do you have a favorite part about pursuing music? Is it writing, recording, or performing? My favorite part about pursuing music is definitely recording. It is so fun to go into the studio and hear my vision come to life, even if it is in a different way than I originally had expected! How do you balance being young and wanting to live life but also chasing your dream of music? Pursuing music is my dream, so it doesn't feel like work at all! If I wasn’t passionate about it, I wouldn’t dedicate as much time to it as I do. I am always thinking of new bits and pieces of songs that I could write, and when I find something that I like, it is so fun for me! Did any artists influence the new EP? If so, how? It is really hard to hone down because so many artists influence each of my songs. It truly is about what songs I’m interested in at the current moment, and that is what inspires me. If I have to throw out some honorable mentions, I would have to say The Weekend and Silk Sonic are two artists that influenced me! Thanks for answering our questions today Anika! Where can we find the new EP? Thank you again for having me! You can find the EP on any streaming platform, and you can follow me on Instagram @anika__nielsen and TikTok@anikanielsen11 for more updates on my music career and life! Instagram
- Dan Aston Opens Up In “I Don’t Belong Here”
British up-and-coming singer-songwriter and recording artist Dan Aston shares what might be his most personal and emotional song to date, entitled "I Don't Belong Here." Hailing from Cornwall, UK, Dan Aston's original tunes has been featured on BBC Radio 6 Music by Tom Robinson and BBC Introducing. Aston made the most of his time during the pandemic, writing and recording a fresh body of work that he promises is the most exciting chapter of just musical journey yet. Now releasing the second single in a series of songs to be released this year, "I Don't Belong Here," Dan Aston also released an accompanying music video that dives even further into that chilling concept. He explains that he wrote the song in the late hours of the night in an unfamiliar town, "I felt a profound sense of dissatisfaction with where my life was heading and who I was becoming as a person." Now, Aston says the song is about realizing when things need to change. "I Don't Belong Here" is an ear-pleasing and soul-soothing folk song that blesses listeners with incredibly relatable lyrics about feeling lonely and unsatisfied with your current circumstances. It's a chilling listening experience that's only amplified by the visuals in the music video. The song's visuals see Dan Aston walking through an unfamiliar town with his guitar in hand. The stark black-and-white atmosphere enhances those troubling moments tenfold, representing that desire to escape from a world that's oozing with decay and uncertainty. It's a deeply emotional and introspective music video that reminds viewers that change doesn't have to be as scary as it seems. Life's unpredictable moments got you down? Listen to something your mind and heart can relate to with Dan Aston's latest single and music video for "I Don't Belong Here." Find the music video on YouTube and the single on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Dan Aston. We're very impressed with the vulnerability and emotion you've poured into your recent single, "I Don't Belong Here." What does this song mean to you? Is it one of the more personal songs you've released? Thank you so much. The song's genesis stems from a night I spent in a far-away city. At the end of the evening, as I walked back to my hotel room in the early hours of the morning, I felt a culmination of emotions that had been building for some time, and I think being so far away geographically from my home served as a catalyst that brought things to a front. I was at a point in my life where I was pretty dissatisfied with where I found myself. The lyrics reflect my feelings of alienation and frustration, a general sense of being lost and a very long way from where I should be. What did I want from life? Who were my true friends? How did I stray so far from my aspirations? Who was I? These are the sort of questions that were floating around my mind. It’s a very personal song, but all my songs are personal. I think there is perhaps an emotive emphasis on this one as it is downbeat in nature. What was your songwriting process like for "I Don't Belong Here"? Was it challenging to be so open and vulnerable when writing your lyrics? I had the song title in my head that night and wrote the whole thing shortly afterward. It all came together pretty quickly, really, with all the lyrics being written in a few minutes. I find that it’s best to just let the words flow onto the page naturally. If I try to sugarcoat things, then it usually translates as false and forced. Sometimes I can feel a little embarrassed about being so open in my lyrics, but I think it’s important to keep in mind that most people will be able to relate to them. When I think of my favorite songwriters and the lyrics that have touched me most and provided comfort in difficult times, they are the ones that are honest and completely open when it comes to sharing personal experiences. What was it like shooting the music video for "I Don't Belong Here?” Who helped you bring the music video to life? It was a lot of fun. The bulk of the video was filmed in Plymouth. I have to stress that I love Plymouth, and it’s a beautiful city, but of course, I was seeking out the areas with urban decay to fit with the tone of the song. I find brutalism and urban decay to be beautiful in their own way, anyway. Living in Cornwall, Plymouth was the closest place to recapture the imposing cityscape that surrounded me on the night depicted in the lyrics. Some of my best friends came along to help with the shoot, including Ross Stevens, who has done a fantastic job with the editing. The video was completed in just a few days. What do you hope to make listeners think or feel when hearing "I Don't Belong Here?” What impact do you want the song to leave on your audience? If the song resonates with and provides some element of comfort to just one person in the world, then it has been worth releasing. I hope people who are feeling lost can take comfort in the fact that they are not alone. We live in a crazy world, and it’s all too easy to stray from the path you have strived to stick to in life, but you can always get back on course. Instagram Artist Website
- A Psychedelic Trip With Mitch & Millie’s Adaptation Of “White Rabbit”
This is one trippy song. Mitch & Millie melds the past with the present in their cover of Jefferson Airplane’s "White Rabbit." Talk about stunning visuals and an exciting version of the classic song. True serendipity was what originated Mitch & Millie. Mitch & Millie were created when a couple found a common interest. They later spent their time creating and curating a sound that merges the past and present through spectacular interpretations and cover tunes. Mitchell Kaneff of The Young Presidents was prepared to go on his next musical journey after a highly successful ten-year stint that included three albums and multiple Grammy nominations. At that point, Kaneff learned that his partner Amelia Leigh Gaw also believed in boosting the human spirit and establishing new connections through music. Mitch & Millie are a dynamic duo with original ideas. Being able to incorporate creative songs that will appeal to listeners of all ages makes this truly distinctive in the present musical landscape. The Lewis Carrol classic served as the inspiration for the song "White Rabbit," which is a journey through the looking glass into a psychedelic world. While Mitch strums an addictive tune, Millie takes the lead with her captivating vocals that ensnare listeners in a dizzying hallucination of vivid colors. With lavish outfits, cosmetics, and alien set designs, the music video vividly depicts the skewed reality. It is a true monument to Mitch & Millie's artistic creativity and capacity to create a novel cover of a song that embodied a historical period. Your mind might just get a bit distorted when listening to this straight-up banger. Stream Mitch & Millie's rendition of "White Rabbit" today, available on all streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Mitch & Millie, and congratulations on your latest release, "White Rabbit." Can you start by telling our readers how you both find the inspiration to work together in music? We found the inspiration during the lockdown in March 2020. Music made us both so happy, so we felt our time was well spent, practicing almost every night for months on end. A friend of ours asked us to perform our first show at his outdoor birthday party in October 2020, so we were even more inspired to put on a great show in front of our friends. It grew from that moment once we saw how people were enjoying our music and wanted more! How would you describe the creative process behind the video of your version of "White Rabbit?" Our friend Anthony Giles was our creative director behind the White Rabbit video. Leading up to the shoot, Mitchell and I were only given a few hints of what was being created for the event and how the story would go. Once the day came, we did three different looks and told our version and story of Alice In Wonderland. Mitchell and I said “yes” to whatever it was Anthony had envisioned for the shoot. It was an easy and seamless project. Can you tell us a bit more about what inspired you to take the challenge to adapt Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit? What does “White Rabbit” mean to you? Our inspiration to do "White Rabbit" came as it was extremely challenging to perform. It was one of the first songs we were rehearsing during the beginning of the lockdown. Practicing it every day, we soon realized it sounded great and added our own little twist to make it our own. What's next for you? "White Rabbit" is all about being curious, taking a chance, and following the unknown while being open to adventure – and that’s where Mitch & Millie are right now: Open to adventure! Instagram
- Zenia Marshall Knows What She Wants In “Prove Me Wrong”
Canadian actress, pop artist, and singer-songwriter Zenia Marshall dissects the classic love story between hope and fear in her newest ethereal single, "Prove Me Wrong." Zenia Marshall began singing professionally at the age of 13, touring worldwide as a backup singer with her family band and her mom's Tina Turner tribute act. An Ariana Grande tribute artist herself, Zenia Marshall approaches her music with a different character, style, genre, and story each time around. Her deeply introspective and vulnerable lyrics alongside dreamy and lush sonic landscapes are quite the treat. We invite you to experience that and more in Zenia Marshall's new single, "Prove Me Wrong." It's a song that narrates the tug of war between wanting to fall in love and fearing that it won't turn out the way we'd hoped. Jumping into the new song, "Prove Me Wrong," we're greeted with lush background vocals that linger into Zenia Marshall's delightful vocal appearance. Her bright and beaming vocals whisper through our speakers while she braces herself for the crash after falling for someone new. It's a deeply reflective tune that sees Marshall fighting her inner cynic in order to experience true love. The song's radiant pop production keeps the energy high while Zenia Marshall drifts through the verse with her gentle words and equally gentle vocals. The song's hook is this burst of passion and tender emotion, showcasing the heart and soul Zenia Marshall put into this heartfelt track. It's by far one of the most refreshing songs we've heard this year. Take a leap of faith into love with the help of Zenia Marshall's sweet new single, "Prove Me Wrong," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Zenia Marshall. We admire the introspective and passionate approach you've taken with your new single, "Prove Me Wrong." What inspired you to create this passionate and reflective new tune? Thank you for having me! While trying to complete another song, I accidentally wrote the melody for “Prove Me Wrong”. From there, the song took a life of its own, and the lyrics tumbled out like a diary entry onto paper. I was in my head about a relationship I was in and started listing every worry I had about how disastrously it could end. From projecting past baggage, I carried and assumed the worst to simultaneously hoping this guy could be the one to "Prove Me Wrong". It took a lot of vulnerability to write Prove Me Wrong - self-diagnosing my own fears in love and admitting to my own cynicism while also acknowledging the inner mushy hopeless romantic voice that leads me to find myself between hope and fear in every blooming relationship. Even in the most successful relationships, we end up fighting ourselves & our own optimism and pessimism in our pursuit of love. Sometimes it's hard to know which side we'll cave into and what future that will create for us. In a way, this song tries to explore all those possibilities. What was your favorite part about creating the new single "Prove Me Wrong?" What moments or experiences did you enjoy most? I really enjoyed recording this in New Zealand while I was filming in Auckland! It was an awesome experience to record on the other side of the world! I also had a blast filming the music video. It was a 3-day shoot all over Vancouver where my director, actor, and I went on road trips, visited galleries, stores, and beaches, and ran everywhere we could find, spontaneously shooting and creating as we went. Such an awesome time! Definitely a shoot for the books!! What was your vision for the sound and vibe of "Prove Me Wrong?" What sort of atmosphere did you want the song to have? I originally wrote Prove Me Wrong as a love ballad on the piano but wanted to give the song energy and a romantic hue and lush atmosphere. Giving an acoustic demo to my producer, I send over some sounds I was inspired by and asked him for the audio to sound like "Pink Skies" and quite literally sent him pictures of the types of pink skies I wanted the song to somehow sound like - hoping he didn't think I was crazy to do this haha! He ran with it and somehow gave it exactly what I hoped for! From there, we polished off some parts with guitar, bg's, and big swooping transitions, and it brought us to where it is today! Sunset skies were always the heart of Prove Me Wrong hence the pink sky cover art. In so many ways, Prove Me Wrong was a sunset or sunrise to me - the undecided middle of hope and fear in the midst of budding rose-colored love. How does "Prove Me Wrong" represent you as an artist? How can listeners get to know you and your sound better through this song? Sonically, I think to Prove Me Wrong spoke to a more playful, fun, energetic side to my sound while staying loyal to the lush ambiance I always love, from soft swirling bg's to dreamy guitars to swooping dramatic transitions. It's exactly the world I wanted this story to exist in, and I look forward to tapping back into this sound in the future! Having previously only released heartbreak songs, I feel this song speaks to my inner soft, hopeless romantic while alluding to the heartbroken nature of my other songs. It perfectly paints a picture of some honest perspectives of blooming love for me - definitely pulling back the curtain on my overthinking mind and battle of inner perspectives when it comes to love. I always thought it was humorous to explore the juxtaposition of pessimism in every verse and optimism in every chorus. I hope listeners can relate to me! What's next for you? This song had actually branched out from another unreleased tune I was trying to complete. So it only seems right that that may be the next tune to come! Instagram Facebook

Known across Nashville for her raw and emotional performances, Quinn O'Donnell's unique blend of alternative rock and atmospheric songwriting never fails to swoon listeners with a timeless yet unique sound. Inspired by Death Cab for Cutie and Radiohead, O'Donnell's sound is heavily rooted in the early 2000s and late 90s. Quinn O'Donnell has amassed a loyal following around Nashville that continually returns to experience her raw and cathartic tunes, like her recent single, "Train of Thought." This is by far one of the most personal and passionate songs we've heard this year; it's the perfect modern-day ballad that blends lush alternative vibes with a sincere singer-songwriter edge. Her gentle vocals and reflective lyrics take listeners deep into the heart of the song's concept, expanding on all sorts of cherished memories that led us to the person we were meant for all along. "Make me feel alive like I can touch the sky, and I can do whatever I want to," passionately sings a spirited Quinn O'Donnell while wanting to better herself to be the best version she can for that special someone. It's an incredibly delicate and tender piece that lets listeners lose themselves in Quinn O'Donnell's dreamy vocals and her equally ethereal instrumentals. We invite you to sing your heart out and experience the palpable passion within Quinn O'Donnell's newest heartfelt single, "Train of Thought," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Quinn O'Donnell. We adored every single second of your heartfelt new single, "Train of Thought." When did you start feeling a need to create this passionate ballad? What inspired you? Thank you for having me! I'm glad that you guys enjoyed the song. I wrote the song in the fall of 2020. At the time, I was really inspired by the band Sun Kil Moon, in particular, a song Mark Kozelek wrote called "Ben's My Friend". On first listen, the song seems very abstract and pointless but has this overarching melancholic undertone. I'd never heard such a unique lyric and wanted to attempt to write something like it for fun. Besides that song, I also loved Salvia Plath's entire "melanchole" album. That record inspired this song in particular, but also a lot of the other songs on this upcoming album. Was it easy to throw yourself into your songwriting process and write such affectionate lyricism for "Train of Thought?" What was that process like? It was somewhat easy, just because I had a lot of emotions that I wanted to process therapeutically at the time. I pride myself on writing things I really mean, even if, later in life, I decide differently. But I love the word "affectionate", it is, in a way, a very crestfallen love song, yet it still has a lot of optimism for the future. What was your vision for the overall sound and vibe of "Train of Thought?" What was your intention for the song's instrumentals? I'm so glad you asked! There is a lot of symbolism in the instrumentals in this song, in particular the drums, which have this chugging effect, like a train. Karl, my drummer, and producer, is super talented and really shared my vision for where I wanted this song to go. Even the backup vocals, which I did, have a sound similar to a train whistle. The song was written in late summer, and I wanted it to sound like something you could listen to when the sun sets. Are passionate and personal songs like "Train of Thought" a common theme for you? Do you usually create songs about your relationship experiences? I would say so, yes. I like to write about things that inspire me, and I would say that relationships play a role in that. I also like to write about people in general, just because I meet a lot of interesting people; they're all so different in their own way. This song's overall theme is about someone who I found inspiring and interesting and wanted to be a better person because of. I think we, as human beings, can push each other to be better people and live with intention. What's next for you? I will be releasing a sophomore, full-length record this winter called "Wherefore Art Thou?" I'll also be playing a couple of shows with my band, The Lonely Hearts! Come say hi! Instagram

Onto track number two, "Thiamin," akilbeatsdenver sends us into another gentle and warmhearted listening experience through his ethereal synths arrangements and the smoothest drum breaks. It's a song that lets you paint a fantasy of your own while akilbeatsdenver acts as the conductor of your dreams, leading you down a mystical and feel-good sonic world packed with adventure. It's clear that akilbeatsdenver has no problem creating a sonic world of his own while inviting listeners to experience and imagine whatever they please. The use of brass samples brings a serene r&b vibe that has us floating on cloud nine. Anyone who hears this sweet tune will adore the blanket of intimacy and passion akilbeatsdenver offers. The album's fifth track, "Pantothenic Acid," continues that same downtempo and jazzy atmosphere but with a bright r&b twist through plucky electric guitar-like synths and a melodic brass section that ramps up the energy. The drums don't appear until much later in the song, totally transitioning the atmosphere into this luxurious and rich listening experience that glitters and gleams through the speakers. Reaching track number six, "Biotin," akilbeatsdenver continues showering us with radiant and shimmering synths along his uniquely spacious effects that bestow heaps of passion. Once akilbeatsdenver's familiar drums kick in, he uses this song to lean into more organic instrumentation with natural snares, cymbals, and hi-hats, making for a more personable yet dynamic listening experience. Continuing the bright brass theme and the smooth jazzy atmosphere is the seventh track, "B6," which floats through the speakers with the utmost heavenly vibes. Seven tracks in, and we've come to adore akilbeatsdenver's vast production stylings and his ability to compose such distinct atmospheres. Listeners will have no issue losing themselves in this sonically delicious and jazzy song; it's an easy-listening experience that anyone can appreciate. We're head over heels for the unique and dynamic listening experience that is your debut album, Intrinsic. When did you start creating this album? How long did it take you to develop and finalize? Firstly thanks for taking the time to listen. I truly appreciate it! I started the process of creating this album in approximately august of 2021. I was already in the rhythm of making beats for possible artist placement, so some of what’s included were created before then, however, the decision to commit to the release was fall of last year. I was working on mastering current trends in hip-hop and r&b production. at the same time, I felt that beats with more instrumentation and non-pop or traditional arrangements were underrepresented. as I started to post more of that type of music on my Instagram, the positive response was the final catalyst that solidified the decision. curating and creating in total took about a year. Were there any sources of inspiration behind the album, Intrinsic? What led you to create such an adventurous album like this? Music has always been my catharsis, my counselor. There also has been a lot of discussion of health recently, mental, physical, and spiritual. I wanted to participate in that discussion in a way that I know best, and doesn’t require anything to be exchanged, simply enjoyed and used according to each listener's needs or desires. How would you describe the sound and vibe of your debut album, Intrinsic? What sounds or artists influenced you? Moody, comforting, introspective, and inspiring. these words are the best descriptors for intrinsic. I consume many musical genres. electronica, jazz, folk, and hip-hop are all influences for this project. everything from rick ross and producer bink on “Santorini Greece” to fleet fox's “blue ridge mountains” to Freddie Hubbard's “red clay” to Bon Iver's “Michicant” is favorites of mine that gave me energy and courage as to what direction I could go and how far I could travel to capture an emotion that is lasting and impactful. What is the significance of the songs on Intrinsic being named after different vitamins and nutrients? #musicismedicine is the mantra for the project. music has an interesting and powerful way of helping the brain retain information. I can recite rhymes or sing songs that I was introduced to decades ago. because of this unique aspect of music, and my desire to help to heal, I was drawn to the idea of the project being nutritional for the mind, body, and soul. I imagined conversations around songs by using their title, either sparking curiosity, “where do I get/what’s the importance of thiamin,” or subconsciously increasing a desire to be aware of what we ingest without it being too directive. Which song from Intrinsic do you think is your favorite and why? What attracts you to that song in particular? It really depends on mood, as is the case with much art; as I’m writing this, I’m thinking that if I were to pick at this moment, it would be pantothenic acid. I really like the build and climax at the end with the drums, it’s very satisfying. What's next for you? I am going to continue to create, of course! I’m also focusing on placements for movies, tv shows, commercials, and content. the vibe of intrinsic is one that I think works well for visual media as background or definitive. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me, I already feel accomplished by being vulnerable and giving a chance for the world to hear my compositions. Suppose someone can listen to intrinsic and it improves mood, or get an extra hour of study in, a couple more miles on the bike trail, or finally finish the dishes and laundry, accompanying drinks by the fire or daydream music on a long drive to the mountains. In that case, I will have completed my mission! Instagram Facebook

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Ghouls Etc. What an exciting yet personal experience you've delivered with your new single, “I Don’t Wanna Die In Vermont.” What led your band to create this conceptual new track? What inspired it? John: It all originated during a trip to Vermont that we went on around August of 2021. I (John) have never been the greatest on vacations, and this was no exception. I wrote this song to express feelings of loneliness but also as a metaphor for running away and accidentally hurting others in the process. A bit doomer as a concept, but I feel the chorus brings control back to the narrator, choosing your destiny to be in a big city surrounded by others as opposed to alone in a more rural area. Between the three of you, what was your band's creative process like for “I Don’t Wanna Die In Vermont”? What did that look like behind the scenes? John: Lyrics and all of my guitar parts were created in the woods nearby the area we all vacationed to in Vermont. Small parts were tweaked and modified by Jake James, Joe Lemieux, and Violet Falkowski to shape it into a dreamier, better-shaped track that doesn’t sound as much like Machine Gun Kelly anymore. Ryan: My input on it came the same as my input on most of the other songs. John had come up with the guitar part and vocals, and from there, I helped to advise the all-around structure and make my own bass part. For my part, what I was trying to achieve was something slightly complicated but simple enough to keep the song together. Melody: I was given the song’s basic structure around the same time as Ryan, and I added whatever I could to liven up the song! I wanted to make a part that was easy for listeners to digest but that was also complicated enough to make other drummers say, “Okay, this girl knows what she’s doing”, so I added sneaky little parts in the song to spice it up a bit! Did you have any artists or projects in mind that might have influenced the sound and style of “I Don’t Wanna Die In Vermont”? John: I definitely wanted it to have the indie woodsiness and texture that you’d find in a Wallows, Vundabar, or even a Car Seat Headrest song; but combined with the sense of grandeur and velocity that you’d find in something like ‘Cemetery Drive’ by My Chemical Romance. How does "I Don't Want to Die in Vermont" represent your band? Do you usually create such cathartic, melodic, and bold listening experiences like this? John: We try too! This song, as well as the next one we have coming up, is more cathartic than anything we have ever done before. We’re all very proud of all the new material that’s marinating currently, waiting to be eaten. What's next for Ghouls Etc.? John: Excellent question. I think growing the community of ghouls that we’ve created is definitely a point of focus! And on top of that, creating some more tunes that hopefully people connect with wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Instagram

We're truly impressed with the conceptual take on toxic relationships you've delivered in your new single, "Stay." What compelled or inspired you to create this deeply personal single? Man, I’m happy to be here with BuzzMusic, Thanks for the opportunity. First off, I had to make myself vulnerable because, as a man, it's not common to express true feelings in music. My love for Claudette, the ups and downs in the relationship, abandonment issues, co-dependency, and not wanting to be alone inspired “STAY.” I’m also a hopeless romantic by nature. FYI lol. What was the most challenging part about creating "Stay?" Were there any emotional obstacles or hurdles you had to jump when writing the song? The most challenging part was actually leaving home to pursue not only my mental wellness but also pursue my career. Yes, emotionally, I had obstacles because my mind was and still is dealing with the hurt of the breakup. Music/lyrics come easy to me. It's who I am. How did you come up with the reverse concept for the "Stay" music video? Why did this particular concept speak to you? The reverse concept stemmed from me always going back. So in the video, the beginning is actually the ending. I’m pretty sure people can relate to leaving a situation physically but mentally still there. They say, “Home is where the heart is, so in this case, Claudette was my home, so I always go back. Who helped you create the music video for "Stay?" Did you have a team help bring your vision to life? The treatment was written by myself, and my team helped me bring my vision to life. In the end, it was a mutual effort that turned into an amazing visual. What can listeners anticipate to hear next from you? This a concept album. Listeners can anticipate hearing more music about the ups and downs of the relationships I’ve been in, ending with Claudette. Instagram Twitter
