- Check Out The Grunions Newest Release The Dark Comet Suite Part I, II, & III
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, The Grunions is a four-piece instrumental collective, fusing surf-jazz soundscapes with a notably classic reverb-drenched sound of the sixties. Comprised of Andrew Joncas (guitar), Jeremy Lear (bass) and Christian Ingelevics (drums) and Nick Teehan (saxophone and keys), The Grunions are quickly gaining attention through their highly rhythmic and lively performances and infectious tracks. Formed in April 2019, The Grunions started off strong, garnering a large following and subsequently impressive catalog of tracks. The band just finished recording their brand new singles “The Dark Comet Suite Part I & II” and “The Dark Comet Suite Part III” with recording engineer Pietro Amato and are swiftly working towards finishing their debut full-length album “Star Fish Prime” later this month. “The Dark Comet Suite Part I & II” begins and ignites a faster pace and that notable spy-core energy level. The piece goes on to fill the room with that wholesome, united orchestral brightness, yet the journey pours through with various details and moments that lean back and forth between optimism and uncertainty. As an introduction to the artist, or simply a go-to whenever the evening needs a little instrumental ambiance to keep things moving, “The Dark Comet Suite Part I & II” is a dazzling release, from the performers of The Grunions that have a clear passion for musical creativity and expression on every level. The first half of the project has a certain jazz-inspired air to it with the mysterious flickers of character and intention. Then during the latter half, in “The Dark Comet Suite Part III” the drums take on the role of a lead instrument, followed by guitar and the notable sax. Distortion joins the party, and rhythm takes things into a more energetic groove. What begins as a gentle, jazz-inspired, organic meeting of instrumental moments, uplifting, hopeful and genuine swiftly evolves into something slightly more complex and experimental while managing to effectively capture The Grunions’ authentic sixties-inspired sound. The Grunions bring together the best of many worlds, leading with a clear understanding of what works in music, what connects and captivates an audience, but also fusing that with a desire to create freely and to express explosions of thought through music. As you get right towards the end, the experimental aspect pours through even more so, as multiple riffs and mind-boggling moments cascade around you, elevating the experience and creating something much more intense. If before you were floating through the moment at ease, there’s a certain sense of fastness or running to the composition that is “The Dark Comet Suite Part III”. At the end of this journey, and it helps showcase the band as more than musically capable. The Grunions are artistically purposeful and consistently interesting. We highly recommend experiencing all three parts of “The Dark Comet Suite” in a live setting, where The Grunions can truly show their instrumental ability and charisma. Check out The Grunions’ IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign, running until October 31st: igg.me/at/thegrunions. L:isten to “The Dark Comet Suite Part I & II” and “The Dark Comet Suite Part III” and keep reading below for our interview with The Grunions! Welcome to BuzzMusic The Grunions! We really enjoyed “The Dark Comet Suite Part I I & II”! How did the overall production of the track go?! Was it fairly easy to maintain this energy throughout the recording process? We spent some time in pre-production just trying to figure out how to prepare the song for an album release. There are 3 parts in “The Dark Comet Suite” and when we play it live, it lasts over 15 minutes, so we decided to create a version that was half as long. By only keeping the essential elements we are able to get it to fit it on the two sides of a vinyl single which is only available as a perk on our crowdsourcing platform. Side “A” is titled “The Dark Comet Suite Part I and II”, while the “B” side is titled “The Dark Comet Suite Part III” (each side only having room for 4 minutes or less) We were inspired by Duke Ellington, he pioneered the idea of dividing an extended composition onto two sides of a single with “Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue” in 1937. We are primarily a live band; that is why we decided to record the bed tracks live, together as a band! It’s the best way to maintain the energy people are used to hearing when they see us live! Often people record one instrument at a time, it allows for more precision and more freedom to manipulate each track without running into any trouble with the sound, such as “mic bleed”. (That’s when a microphone picks up more than what was intended if you move your tracks around while editing, you wind up with ghost sounds on the final mix.) All it took were five takes and we had what we needed to move on to record the various overdubs (i.e.: percussion, lead guitar, organ, and saxophone). Finding the right studio and engineer to fit our budget and the needs for a “live off the floor” recording can be daunting, but luckily the very talented Pietro Amato was able to fit us in his busy schedule at “Skybarn Studio” for one day on September 14th, 2019. I have known Pietro since we studied music together at university. Over the years he has helped me record several projects and I knew he would be a great match for the “The Grunions”. His expertise helped us realize the true voice of the band in a studio environment, which is not always easy. Getting everyone crammed into a confined space for the better part of a day can be unpredictable as well as disastrous, but the energy and good humor of the whole team involved lead to one of the best experiences I have ever had in the studio! We’re always curious to learn more about how bands form! How did The Grunions officially come to fruition? Did you know the other band members prior to creating the band? Jeremy (bass) and I (guitar) had known each other for a little over a year. We were playing in another surf band together and we got along great. At some point, the band was in between drummers and we had a sub sit in for a show. The drummer of the other band we were playing with was Christian. After hearing us play Christian expressed interest in playing with our band, and he joined almost immediately. Eventually, the project the three of us were folded, and we really wanted to keep making music together. Christian recommended Nick (sax, keys), a friend he met while studying music at Humber College. The rest is history as they say. Who has had the biggest influence on your life musically thus far? Can you describe the impact this particular individual has had in terms of your new song “The Dark Comet Suite Part I, II & III”? The biggest influence?! That’s a whopper of a question! We’ve all had so many teachers, and listened to so many styles of music that it’s really hard to distill it down to one biggest influence. As far as having an influence on our new song; I have to admit, that many of us in the band are big fans of Frank Zappa, and you can definitely hear his influence on “The Dark Comet Suite”. Zappa had a distinct way of juxtaposing styles and creating compositions with many movements. He also had once professed that he wouldn’t have started writing lyrics for his compositions if it weren’t for the fact that instrumental music wasn’t commercially viable at the time. What are some of your ultimate goals as a group? Are any of these goals currently being put into place/being worked on? Recording the “The Dark Comet Suite” was the first step in achieving our goal of recording our first album “Star Fish Prime“. We’ve just launched a crowdsourcing campaign on IndieGoGo to help cover some of the costs, and hopefully, the record will help us get more shows, popularity and sync deals. In the end, the ultimate goal is to have fun while playing live! We hope that every achievement allows us more opportunities to write and play music together! It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you after this song release? Any shows in the near future? After the release, we will be focusing on recording the rest of our songs and fulfilling some of the rewards from our IndieGoGo campaign. We have some interesting perks that are really fun! One, in particular, is that the band will record a demo of your favorite song in the style of “The Grunions”, and another one is to have your portrait drawn by a member of the band; The Grunion doing the drawing will be randomly selected for each pledge but it’s important to note, only two of us have actually attended art school. The next bookings will be at L’Escalier (552 Ste-Catherine east) in Montreal, we have 3 shows booked (Jan. 29, Feb. 26 and May 3rd) and maybe someone will choose the perk that will allow them to come up on stage and play a song with the band at one of these shows! No experience required! ;) instagram.com/thegrunions facebook.com/thegrunions #BuzzMusic
- 107 Musical Instruments And Counting --Meet The Talented Instrumentalist Neil Nayyar
For most people playing a musical instrument can be a challenge. Especially in this era where you do not need to know how to play a musical instrument to produce a song- people mainly rely on computer-generated beats and rhythms to create a song. Neil Nayyar has taken a different route, at a very young age; he can play more than 107 instruments and counting. Given his achievements in the music scene and his abilities, one would be forgiven for thinking that Neil is approaching his mid-life but would be surprised to learn that he has just entered his teenage life. While some musicians have mastered a few instruments Neil has broken all the records. At the age of twelve years, he broke the record that had been set by a twenty-seven year old instrumentalist to play 44 instruments. One year later, he almost tripled the number of instruments that he could play when the number moved to 107 settings, a record which most people think would be hard to beat by anybody who dares challenge the prowess of this young artist. How did the thirteen year old learn to play all these instruments? This is a question that has lingered in most people's mind. His parents say they realized he was good on the instrument and had the talent at the age of five. At this age, most of the kids can only sing along to the tunes they hear from the media; and they are way off the tune. But for this super kid, it was a walkover, being able to play instruments in a way that most people would not do. Upon discovering the talent, they registered him for summer camps where he learned how to play several instruments. He has music teachers spanning different parts of the world; China, India, Italy among other places where he works through Skype. It is not just playing music instruments, the homeschooled boy is talented in other different ways, he can paint, is good in martial arts and Bollywood dance among other activities. The multi-talented teenage sensation has also ventured into acting, he recently signed a contract with Conquest Management and has already auditioned to perform at Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center, an indoor arena in downtown California on October 28th, 7 P.M at the opening of the game. When asked about his favorite performance so far, Nayyar was quick to point out the California State Fair, an event where he sang and played four instruments among other Saxophone, Sitar as well as Sheng and Sauna- both of which are Chinese instruments. To Nayyar, music is not just a feel-good moment but also a way that he connects with the people where he shares his music and draws inspiration. He says that through learning to play instruments he has learned different cultures. This is his favorite part, where he meets new people and cultures, seeing how they play the instruments. For him instruments represent people and cultures providing a perfect avenue to promote unity and cohesion around the world. Recognition has been flowing; the Elk grove sensational teenager has been named the youngest person to play musical instruments by Assist World. The talented boy is now looking to get recognition by the Guinness World Records for his extraordinary talent. Recently, he appeared on the CBS owned Good Day Sacramento talk show where he was interviewed about his music accomplishments. Nayyar says music is his passion; he lives, dreams and thinks music all the time. He reveals that passion started at a very young age with a hundred dollar drum. He is not done yet, he says the sky is not the limit and he will add more instruments. He revealed that he is currently working on his 108th musical instrument. The young talent has many plans for his future. He recently signed with a talent agency and has his sights set on adding acting and singing to his growing repertoire. Neil has also been working with vocal coach Raquela Burt of Elk Groves Sings as he completes his upcoming World Music album. Nayyar believes that the future is bright and he will keep going hoping to achieve even greater things. The sky is not the limit for a boy who is soon set to assigned parts in a movie that suits his super talent.
- David Lei Brandt Drops Brand New Single “Love You Outta Style” Ft. Black Prez
Los Angeles native David Lei Brandt is back with a brand new single! “Love You Outta Style” is a dance-pop hit crossover and we can’t get enough. David is a brilliant singer/songwriter, with a four-octave range and relatable themes throughout his music. Listen to “Love You Outta Style” at volume for the full effect, multiple layers of synths and heavy bass notes and beats rain down, showcasing a structurally entertaining and engaging piece that utilizes contrast well. The pauses and subsequent drops are effectively executed, seeing the track move from melodically entrancing moments of pop to grittier hits of alternative dance and even a flicker of hip hop with Black Prez’s verse just to keep things moving. Production-wise, “Love You Outta Style” almost seems like two compositions at once, the instrumental version would work well in itself as cinematic escapism. With the vocal melody and story-line though. “Love You Outta Style” becomes something else entirely. It feels a little electro-pop thanks to that level of personality in David LEi Brandt’s incredible voice. The track grows to become more enjoyable with every few seconds that pass. Retro elements fuse fresh and uplifting qualities to offer a memorable and quite striking audio journey. Check out “Love You Outta Style” feat. Black Prez here and read more with David Lei Brandt in our interview below! Welcome back, David Lei Brandt! We’re really happy to be featuring your song “Love You Outta Style”. Can you explain to our readers the meaning and inspiration behind the track? When we started producing the track, (2 years ago), it started out as a dark EDM club track. I actually wrote 3 different songs to it because I just was never sold on what was happening. Then I realized I wanted a track that would put the listener at the concert. Nothing is better to me then envisioning the show while listening to a song. As far as the meaning of it… I just wanted a simple hook to sing back while having a mean head bop. “Love You Outta Style” is easily one of the most enjoyably addictive and upbeat pop songs to emerge in quite a while! Was it your intention to build something that would translate in such an energetic and stage-ready manner, or did that just come as part of the writing process? Wow. Thanks so much for your words. For me, every song I produce and write from the beginning has the intention of having a “stage-ready” manner. We love Black Prez’s verse in the song! Can you tell us how this collaboration came about? Glad you love it! I was performing in Berlin and he had come to show with not knowing who I was. After the performance, we had a couple of words and realized we were both from the states. So instantly we were cool. I went home and checked his music out and then decided it was a no brainer that I needed him on the song. His energy and penmanship are by far better than most out there. Everything happens for a reason. Who has had the biggest influence on your life musically thus far? Can you describe the impact this particular individual has had in terms of your new song “Love You Outta Style”? I mean I’m sure you can tell with the record that MJ is the heavy influence. The way the track feels and the way my vocal stying is with the melodies it's clear. haha. I wanted to mix a bit of MJ and JT with the live sound, but then take it to the club. Thank you so much for chatting with us again! Can you share with our readers one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned in the music industry thus far? No is not an option and age doesn’t mean shit. You have to do it yourself. No one will invest you unless you do it first. There will be no better feeling when you sell out an arena and you say to the crowd, “We did it”. @Davidleibrandt #BuzzMusic

Check out “I’m That Bitch/Bad Bitch Party” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Welcome to BuzzMusic G.O.D Karma! You give off a really confident aura through your music! Is this a skill you've developed over time or has it come naturally to you? I would say both. I wasn’t always good at writing although music was always my passion. I realized I had to go through many of life’s challenges and overcome them to be able to master my craft and honestly I’m still learning as I create, but I guess now it is safe to say that I write as naturally as I breathe about everything from my thoughts, to my joys and even my struggles In a male-dominated industry, what sets you apart as a female rapper and artist? I actually compete with the males more than I do the females. I tease them about their “manhood” and about how I get more girls than them as a way of calling them out, challenging them and showing them I’m not really scared of none of them and I’ll easily take them on if need be. Additionally, I also bring my sexy, sensual, sassy flair which not be arrogant or anything they really can’t compete with. “I’m That Bitch/Bad Bitch Party” was an incredibly versatile and catchy track. Where did you draw the inspiration to create this particular type of sound? I got into the studio with a mine of my best friends/ producer- JiggySoWhat. I played him one of my recordings which are just random voice notes I record throughout the day whenever a beat or phrase inspires some bars in me and he really liked what he heard, next thing he composed a beat and I was laying more verses and discussing beat switches and the addition of sound effects such as dog barks and police sirens. What do you hope your listeners take away from “I’m That Bitch/Bad Bitch Party”? I hope they feel “badass” and like they own their thrown, crown and any challenges life throw at them and that they feel like that “IT” girl no one can compete with. Also, I hope they just feel like getting on the dance floor having a good time and just twerk to it and feel good and confident about themselves and in their own skin Thanks for taking the time to chat with us! What’s next for you artistically? Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways? I am currently working on an E.P with more trap music of course, but also some RnB tracks because besides rapping I can actually definitely hold a great note and hopefully through music I can explore other industries and passions such as the gyming scene, fashion especially lingerie which I’m really passionate about rocking and making and other surprises which I’d love to keep up my sleeve for the time being. instagram.com/g.o.d.karma_i_am facebook.com/GodKarmaTheTrapper twitter.com/GOD_Karma_i_am #BuzzMusic
- CJ SOLID Drops His New Single "Flexin On The Low" From His Album "Grind Muzik V2"
Hey CJ SOLID! Welcome to BuzzMusic, and congratulations on your latest track "Flexin On The Low" from your album "Grind Muzik V2"! How did the overall production and curation of the album go? Did the final execution of the album match your initial vision, or did this vision change over the course of production? The overall production of the album, I wanted to be more creative than I was on vol 1. I chose the beats wisely and wanted to set different tones throughout the project so the listeners don’t get just one repetitive sound. For the most part, I think the final execution matched my vision. Before I get in “project mode” I pretty much know how I want it to go. "Flexin On The Low" is easily one of those catchy and impactful Hip/Hop tracks that we know we'll be hearing more of from the music world. What would you say is the main element to your music that you include in each track to ensure that CJ SOLID effect on listeners? The main element I put in my music is never forgetting where I come from, what got me to where I am now and know where I wanna go. Each song is its own vibe. People wanna hear Grind Muzik every day. We know how big of presence music has had in your friends' life, your family's life, and ultimately your life. Would you say that you still remain true to yourself as an artist as you did when you first started recording with friends right from your house? Indeed. I believe that I’m still the same Lil dude making a way to perfect my craft as I did when I was in the 7th grade rapping on computer mics. 100 deep or not. What's been good in the music scene in Decatur, GA? Are you heavily influenced by the current and prominent stylings of music present in your community? Decatur is just different. Growing up there you can write a book about everything you’ve seen and experienced. It’s like everybody's family from there. Not too many people I know make music from where I’m from. We gravitate to the Atlanta scene a little bit while still kicking our own Flavor. How long did it take you to artistically craft the very sound that is CJ SOLID? Did you find your initial sound easily, or did it require crafting on your end? I believe music lives in all of us. It’s just up to whoever wanna get it out to create the sound In them. - “Giants” By Rocket Is The Danceable Rock Track You Need To Hear
Based in Los Angeles, Rocket is an energetic pop-punk collective. Compared to the likes of Social Distortion and Paramore, the band is comprised of Janelle Barreto (Lead Vocals), Eric Wibbelsmann (Guitar), Steve Kilcullen (Guitar), Jordan Lawson (Bass), and Paul DePatie (Drums). Formed in 2013, the band has shared the stage with notable acts such as Bow Wow Wow, Alien Ant Farm and Puddle of Mudd. Their debut single “Giants” is out now and new visuals for the single are set to release later this year! Stay tuned. Storming through the speakers with nothing so much as an introduction or a moment of quiet, “Giants” is a brilliantly upbeat and deeply thoughtful punk song. With its fast-paced power-chords and the often grunge-soaked nature of the leading melody leaning in a more rock direction. “Giants” is about the feeling you get when you accomplish something as a team or with a community. The lead singer Janelle appears immediately connected to the subject matter at hand, you can hear this in both the lyrics and the energetic manner in which they’re presented. With the song being barely three minutes long, the intensity and realness has to reach out and grab you, and that’s precisely what it does. Topping it all off perfectly is the grit and urgency of Janelle’s vocals. A brilliant debut, we can’t wait to hear more from Rocket! Listen to Rockets' new single “Giants” here! - Dynamic Duo Tribelight Create Beautiful Electronic Music From Across The World
Tribelight is an experimental production duo hailing from opposite ends of the world. Byron is from Chicago and Masahi is based in Tokyo. After meeting through a record label, the two joined forces to create genre-bending, layered soundscapes. Tribelight’s new eclectic sound fuses tribal percussion with analog electronica with ease. Fusing an electronic beat with ambient tribal layers, “With You” is topped off with sleepy vocals and distant hints of intensity and angst, the track is as unpredictable as it is cinematically captivating. Creativity leads the way in every respect, from the evolution of the details to the structure of the piece to the final weight of the sound and indeed the concept. These chaotic and colorful layers of audio support and enhance the questioning, intriguing, mysterious lyrics in a brilliantly appropriate manner. The journey throughout “With You” is striking and wonderfully entertaining. Where you might turn to EDM or trip-hop to escape the world, this tribal-inspired electronic style of writing, production, and performance, makes for the perfect addition to that catalog of go-to releases. From a production perspective, this is a fairly minimalist piece that’s been recorded well! The vocal sounds genuine, not overly affected by electronica and still coming through with those intricacies and human dashes of emotion and softness that help you connect with the individual behind it. - NEW MUSIC: Sing Along To “Country Kiwi” By 24Kayz
24Kayz is an impressive singer, rapper, lyricist, and all-around multi-faceted artist making waves in the modern music scene. He blends integral elements of hip-hop, pop, indie, folk, r&Bm and many more to create soundscapes unlike we’ve ever heard before. A fabulously pure lead vocal adorns 24 Kayz’ new release “Country Kiwi” with some very direct and clear communication. As soon as the vocal begins, a new, more urgent rhythm is established, and the spoken word vocals take us calmly and confidently by the hand, leading us to the more upbeat chorus. A few more flavors of acoustically driven minutes are subtly layered up in carefully-chosen moments. On top of the music, 24Kayz’s voice is one that’s loaded with personality. His tone, his laid-back style of delivery, and indeed his lyrics, all lean in the direction of a clear love for performance and for crafting bars designed to entertain. “Country Kiwi” is a smooth genre-bending new single that we can’t get enough of. 24Kayz has name an impressive name for himself in recent months, and with releases like “Country Kiwi,” it’s not hard to see why. Check out “Country Kiwi” here and read more with 24Kayz below! Hey 24Kayz! Welcome to BuzzMusic! What inspired you to first begin making music and releasing it to the public? I’ve always been inspired and wanted to make music. Music, marching band, and my older brother Doe Boogie watching him and my uncle freestyle really saved my life. I love my city it’s dangerously full of art flavor and creativity. Back to what I was going to say though. I use to randomly start beating on my third grade elementary desk in school. Everybody would be rocking with me. It turned into a thing when I got into the six grade in middle school we’d have a beating contest on the table and they’d be like oh I won. I’d make a super dope beat on the table and I couldn’t record what I’d just did and it was super cool. I always tried to stand out when we had a beat contest on the lunchroom tables or on a field trip. In the six grade, I joined concert band and I started out on the trumpet. Being in the concert band taught me perseverance and dedication. It made me feel like I had powers and nobody could beat like me on the tables even though I was playing the trumpet. I don’t know. Music just was just my excitement and a great way to express my creativity. I remember hearing the high-school marching band practice and I told my mom I’m going to be in the marching band. I’ll never forget I tried out for the drumline and thought I’d make it on snare drum but they put me on the symbols. I was in the 9th grade and I’d always help write the cadences we’d play in the stands. I kept finding out more and more about music. Words like crescendo and decrescendo, a flat, b flat, band warmups. I’d want to stay after and play on the snare drum when the 11th and 12th graders left. I’d always put down my symbols and beat on the baseline drums and get the crowd and people that were in my class super hype and that’s when I first realized I had an amazing effect on people with my Radom beat patterns. I remember like yesterday one of my older siblings came over to our aunt house and I was grounded in the room he looked at me and saw me with my head down and all I know is he threw some headphones and a beat machine at me on the bed and said play with that. I was in the 10th grade at that time and that’s when I first saw an mpc I didn’t know what it was. I also just met my father for the first time and he was and still is a DJ. Long story short I became 24kayz. I had a pink book bag a Walmart microphone some laptop speakers and a Toshiba laptop. I would carry my studio in my bookbag and record people, my friends and myself but most of all I’d always write for my friends and other people because I always was recording people. No matter where I was at, it could be in the hood, on the corner, on the front porch outside, as long as it was a socket to plug up to and get some power I’d do it. I knew I wanted to release it to the public when I notice myself always trying to show people my beats or what I wrote for someone to say on a beat. One day I went to Burger King and bought an apple pie and I figured since I spent some money on Burger King I could use their outlets and WiFi. So I sat my pink book bag down and hooked up my studio. I started recording myself. I was into it. Saying all types of bad words just hypnotize by what I was doing and next thing you know the cops tapping me on the shoulders unplugging my stuff saying pack up your things and leave. I’m still not allowed at the burger king in Carolina today. In 2014 I met female producer Shani and the rest is history. You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into his lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “Country Kiwi”? The lyrical depths in my song country kiwi came into existence subsequently at a country bar called cowboys Orlando in Orlando Florida. Me and some friends made a bet that I wouldn’t walk into a country bar and sit for more than 30 seconds. Mind you I had on a supreme headband, a shirt that said trap, some Jordan’s and a cannon camera around my neck. I went inside the bar and the waiter was asking me what am I doing in the bar, would I like a drink and what do I do. I told her I rap and all of a sudden she yelled out Aaaaaa! In a quiet but noticeable way and started twerking. I put my head down and whispered “oh shit I’m dead I have to get out here” so my friends ended up coming in and asking me what took me so long but everybody was just starring at us because how we were dressed and the waiters friends came over and some of them actually was just vibing with us. They left with us and came back to what we call the chill spot, trap house, or studio. I pulled out my laptop and cooked up the beat. I was so far from sober. The lyrics is really what happened at the trap house we call the studio. I wanted to really just put more thought into my lyrics. I didn’t want people to get it the first time around. In the lyrics "I'm going down baby to far from sober” that means I’m just lit and feeling good. I’m not sober I’m just hammered from the vibes in the room. All of it came from that event along with the visuals I had in my head. Since you’ve been making music for several years, how would you compare some of the earlier material you’ve written to your newest release “Country Kiwi”? My earlier stuff was leaning more towards the street and trap. That’s all I was surrounded by. My location change. My music change and since then I’ve evolved. We’ve also been bumping your EP “Palmtress&Butterfly’s”! Congratulations on that. What have been some of your proudest or most memorable moments in music so far? Wow really!???... First of all a big thank you!!!! Thank you for bumping my palmtress&butterflys ep. Words hold a lot of weight and that means a lot to me. So shout out to everyone over at BuzzMusic!!! Actually palmtrees&butterflys was one of my most proudest and memorable moments so far. It was my first ep I’ve ever put out. I was so happy to get something down and actually put it out. It was very emotional for me. Everything before that was just mixtapes and recording my friends and others. We really appreciate you chatting with us about your incredible music! What’s next for you artistically? Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways? Awesome! Thank you BuzzMusic for checking out my art and inviting me on your radar. Connecting with fans more, doing more shows, growing more in my artistry connecting fashion and art threw my music, and just creating lots of energy for the world to vibe to is what’s next for me. - New Beau Makes Captivating Debut With “Everything”
Working under the moniker New Beau, Patrick Beaulieu-Hardin is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and composer. Involved with music since the young age of six, New Beau pulls inspirations from a wide variety of genres such as folk, rock, solo piano, pop, and electronica. With a broad range of genres to influence his sound, his music is eclectic and accessible for listeners from all walks of life. “Everything” appeals on a whole new level for its melodic swagger and the hypnotic, soothing nature of the chord progression. Meanwhile, the lead vocals provide a similar thread of recognizable simplicity, and still, the soundscape seems to evolve and change throughout “Everything”. Even with these notably entrancing, ongoing elements that hold you captive. The track has a distinctive pulse about it, a few carefully crafted layers help give it that comforting, memorable glow. Patrick’s indie vocal during the verses is where the song moves from good to great. It’s a satisfying and enjoyable piece of music and performance, one that you may feel as if you’ve known for years, but one that’s also somehow undeniably original. Easy listening instrumentation blasts through the speakers layered with addicting acoustic arrangments and soulful lyricism. New Beau has created an eclectic motif and we can’t wait to see what this up and coming artist curates for his fans next! Check out “Everything” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey there New Beau! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We’re really happy to be featuring your song “Everything”. It’s very catchy, but also incorporates an integral message within. Can you explain to our readers the truth that is embedded within the track? Oh, great question - this track took me a long time to write, and the message changed as I wrote it. It started as a fairly straightforward breakup song - “How will I fill this space that we left for each other?” I struggled with the second verse, trying to find a resolution, and I realized that the resolution I was looking for had nothing to do with other people. I ended up writing about my own journey - “How will I choose my path?” I had been wavering back and forth in my personal life about how to pursue music, and whether I would even end up in the music industry at all. The song ends unresolved, “Will you tell me everything’s gonna be alright?” and the piano part at the end doesn’t resolve either, sort of musically mimicking my indecision. I have a couple of tracks in the works that answer these questions. Stay tuned! You’ve known that music is your passion since you were young, but what inspired you to be so involved with music from such a young age? My mom put me into piano lessons at age six, and I took to it immediately. One of my earliest memories is of listening to Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The U.S.A” in the car. I picked up guitar at age twelve because I thought being a keyboardist in a band sounded lame, even though I continued studying piano. I played in high school band and sang in choir. When I showed up to college I thought I was going to be an English major, but changed majors within the first two weeks because it was immediately obvious how much more I enjoyed the music courses. After school I gigged and played in a number of bands, and eventually came to the conclusion that I needed to start my own project. There are many-layered and intricate elements to “Everything”, can you tell us about the creation process for this song? This song is a sort of Frankenstein’s monster of musical ideas. I wrote the guitar line in the verse years ago after obsessively listening to Radiohead’s “In Rainbows.” The piano riff in the bridge, which is also the bass line and guitar part in the chorus, came from a piece I wrote for an ex called “Tout Va S’arranger” which means “Everything Is Going to Be Alright” which I flipped around lyrically in the song after the breakup. The fuzzy sound that sounds like a synth in the bridge is actually my voice! I heavily distorted it as a fun way to make new noises. How do you personally feel about live performance? Would you say that you prefer the live performance aspect of music more over the writing/recording process? I love live performances! I haven’t actually played many shows yet for this project, but I toured around the west coast a bit with some of my old bands and always thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely get a big rush off the energy of an engaged crowd. The writing process is the closest to my heart though. It’s like therapy for me, to get all my feelings and thoughts arranged into lyrics and melodies. I love composing piano music, and am creating some arrangements of my own new songs right now, to be released alongside the rock versions of the songs, hopefully to be released next year. It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you after this song release? Any shows in the near future? Thank you so much! I’m playing out at open mics right now, and am in the process of booking some larger shows. I’ll keep you updated! In the meantime, I’m finishing up tracking for four more singles, which will all eventually get compiled into an EP. I also have written a good portion of a full-length album, which will ideally come out later next year. A couple of those tracks will be released as “double singles” with the full band version and the piano arrangement side by side. The beat flows naturally and is fixated in such a way that it captures the attention of listeners, effortlessly. NicoTheOwl manufactures a rhythm and flow that easily is in tune with the vocalism of Cher, and blends a variety of tempos to curate an eccentric ambiance. "M.I.A" is a fun-loving track that we find incredibly catchy! It can be difficult to manifest such a resonant production on NicoTheOwl's end, but to maintain said production throughout the track, especially when such track requires a bubbly and vivacious setting, is impressive! We know the skill sets of NicoTheOwl's production is unmatched, and we're ultimately impressed with his ability to craft such memorable and high-energy tunes. NicoTheOwl is undoubtedly a producer to not only look out for but to watch intensely, as his productions are entrancing and progressive! Give a listen to NicoTheOwl's latest work in "M.I.A" here! You have a really versatile and unique style, how long have you been making music? I’ve been making music for about 20 years now. I started playing piano at 5 years old and I studied classical music until 18 years old. Then I went to Berklee College Of Music in Boston where I studied Jazz composition and Big Band Arranging. After graduating Berklee, I was touring with a Big Band for a couple of years and then I decided to get into Hip Hop production. I feel Jazz and Hip Hop are very similar in terms of feel, groove, and harmony so it was easy for me to make that transition. That opened a lot of doors for my career. What can you tell us about your project “MIA” with UK pop star Cher Lloyd? A few months ago, my manager, Christian Madison, hit me up telling me that Cher Lloyd found a song that she loves as her new single but she is looking for the right production for it. He knew that I really love Cher and her music so he asked me to work on the song so that he can present it to her and the record label. They loved what we did. Its really a great song. Great melody, very fun lyric/message that everyone can relate to and Cher’s singing is incredible. It's really refreshing! What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? When I create I use my imagination a lot. I tell a story through notes, harmony and sound. I try to create different emotions throughout the song and try to capture what I feel at that specific moment. I hope the listeners will follow that story and feel what I was feeling when I was creating that piece of music. What is it about making music that draws such passion from you? Music is so powerful. It's so powerful that it can change your mood, send your thoughts in a very particular direction, make you dream, daydream and affect your emotions. I can express my feelings and my thoughts while making music and tell a story. Tell my story. What's next for NicoTheOwl? I have a few releases coming up which I’m very excited about. ISRA, Sharlene, AIKA, Halia Beamer and even a secret project with “The Empress of Soul” Gladys Knight. Connect with NicoTheOwl on social media: www.instagram.com/nicotheowl #BuzzMusic
