- Discover "Lake Of Love", A Musical Journey By Jáson
In 2012 Jáson started taking in the world and turning out music. The singer/songwriter has an intuition for sounds that are airy and organic, and uses them to create music that he calls "experimental alternative pop music". The lyrics he writes often revolve around love, mythology, nature, and his life experiences. They take on the experimental sound and give it even greater meaning. And now, after releasing numerous singles, Jáson's debut EP SIEGFRIED will be dropping on November 1 and he has given BuzzMusic the honor of having an early look at the track "Lake Of Love". "Lake Of Love" is an ethereal song. Its downtempo style and a mixture of staticky sounds and floaty water vibes create a sense of discovery. It's almost as if we're in the future and we're listening to a relic of the past. Maybe an echo heard deep at the bottom of the ocean. An echo from 2019. Whatever it is, it's proof that people could convey emotions and had a love for music back then. Now back to reality, "Lake Of Love" has a sense of decay about it. The remnants left of this cool romantic pop song have created an eerily beautiful tune. Jáson's vocals hold on to those dreamy notes like a siren calling to us. Calling us to the "Lake Of Love" that he has so beautifully written about. Whether the "Lake Of Love" is actually a place of passion or a place of deception, we're not sure, but it's up to you to find out! Welcome Jáson! We're so excited about your upcoming EP SIEGFRIED. Your song "Lake of Love" was truly mesmerizing. How will this track fit in with the rest of your EP? Thank you so much for having me! I am extremely excited about SIEGFRIED myself; it's been a long time coming. When making SIEGFRIED it was so important to me that it felt cohesive and sonically every track felt related and yet somehow very different. “Lake of Love” feels more hopeful and a slightly more positive track than the rest. I consider it the first part of the story that I hope everyone will pick up on when it is released. There is a very clear message being sent throughout the EP and that was intentional. What do you hope listeners take away from "Lake of Love" and the rest of the EP? Well, I would hope they see the message. It would also be dope if they were moved in some way. I think one of the reasons I love music so much is that music is power. Music can touch and sway our emotions, it’s a healing and therapeutic thing. I know that if I go too long without listening to music if affects my mood and when listening to it for the first time every day it takes me away and allows me to rest and heal in different ways. I also believe that music can mean different things to other people. So, what I write “Lake of Love” about, may not be what someone else feels it's about. I have always thought that it was so beautiful and magical. Where did the idea for "Lake of Love" come from? “Lake of Love” came from the idea that love can be much like a lake in the sense that to really, really feel it and learn from and within it. You must fully submerge yourself and allow yourself to be free while under its waters. Opening your eyes and seeing all of the mysterious things that this completely different world that you may not normally be surrounded by consists of. How do you go about writing lyrics for songs that are so experimental and unconventional? Well, this project is was actually very organic and natural. I wanted SIEGFRIED to be written about things that I have been through but spoken through metaphor and codes. SIEGFRIED is actually a code name for the person these tracks are mainly about. Each song is a sort of emotion I’ve felt, or something I have always wanted to say and couldn’t or hadn’t been given the space to say. Thank you for giving BuzzMusic this early look at "Lake of Love" Jáson! Do you have any special plans for the release of your EP or during the months following? Of course! Thank you for allowing me the space to share that early look into my project! I have some very exciting and amazing plans for this release. I am firstly having an EP Release Party/Show on the night it drops! November 1st at Soulful Soups and Spirits in downtown Spokane, WA starting at 7:00 pm! It's a Free event and open to all! And maybe even more exciting I am hoping to release a visual of some sort for the project in December. The idea is a short film, and I am hoping to drop that December 30th! Of course, I have also already started on the next EP as well. facebook.com/cisumnosaj twitter.com/cisumnosaj instagram.com/cisumnosaj #BuzzMusic
- Debbie Hennessey Delivers Uplifting New Single “True Me”
Songwriter extraordinaire Debbie Hennessey is back once again with yet another beautifully well-rounded, heartfelt and colorful pop-rock single “True Me”. The single is gorgeously easy-going, and drives with that same sense of optimism and love for life that always seems to stand tall in Debbie’s writing. The overall sound and style lean off in its own notably folk-pop-like direction. This artistic choice works beautifully considering the context and the story-line. “True Me” is easily and absolutely one of the best and most memorable alternative, organic songs 2019 has seen so far. A stunning performance from Debbie compliments superbly poetic and thoughtful writing flawlessly. Such a simple hook but beautiful, powerful, and gorgeously uplifting. The soundscape builds subtly too, reinforce that rising brightness, towards the ultimate outpouring of self-love. “True Me” is a strong introduction to Debbie Hennessey who has a clear skill for songwriting, a simple yet effective musical approach, and most likely an impressive live show. Debbie Hennessey has seen much success in her impressive career. Most notably, she was named AC40 Female Artist of the Year by New Music Weekly as well as charting a Top 20 Hit on NMW’s AC40 Charts. Debbie's three full-length albums and seven singles are all available through many music platforms! Check out “True Me” here and read more with Debbie Hennessey in our interview! Hi Debbie, thanks for the interview! "True Me" blends a beautiful melody with meaningful lyricism. What can you tell us about what this particular release means to you? Thank you for having me! Naturally, I like to think all my releases are special for one reason or another. They are like my kids. With the help of some incredible musicians, I put my heart and soul into each of them and then release them into the world. "True Me" is special for a few reasons. It is the first song with producer/co-writer/guitarist Jonathan Hayes. Jon and I have wanted to work together for a while, and the timing was finally right. When we met for the first writing session, Jon surprised me by having spent time familiarizing himself with the ins and outs of my voice and creating a beautiful melody that was perfect for me. "True Me" is one of those songs where everything just flowed. We had the lyrics for the first verse and chorus before the end of the session. The second verse and the rest of the song came quickly after that. "True Me" is also special for being my first release since the No Longer Broken CD. For me, this song is about transformation and transition, and that has certainly been the case with my life since the release of No Longer Broken. How long have you been writing songs and making music, and how does this project differ from what you've done before? I think this song is just the next step for me as an artist. It's different in tone, softer sonically, but lyrically it's emotionally deeper. The protagonist has been through some serious heartbreak, but her heart is still open to what's next. It probably sounds funny for me to talk in the third person when describing a song, but it helps me stay open to what's best for the song. While there is always a part of me in each one, they aren't a blow-by-blow account of my life. When I sit down with a co-writer, it becomes a story we are telling, and whatever supports the story gets to stay in the lyric. I will fight for something that I want to say, but as a writer, you have to look at the overall story. I want people to be able to relate their own experiences to my songs. I have been singing as long as I can remember. The first time I performed in public, I was 13, I made my first recordings by 18, and I've been doing it ever since. Songwriting has been a slower process. I wrote lyrics as a kid, and I'm pretty sure they were horrible. I focused mainly on singing for a long time before getting serious about writing. I had only one co-write on the first CD, "Rustic Heart," and two on "Good As Gone." The single, "Believe," is original, and I co-wrote eight of the nine songs on "No Longer Broken." Over the last dozen years, I have written and recorded other songs that are either for film/TV or different types of placements. The genres for these vary - Pop, SingerSongwriter, Blues, Country, AAA, etc. Two were created to sound like they were written and recorded in the 1920/1930's. They are two of my favorites, and I'd love to do more era-specific writing. Most of these songs aren't available commercially, but people can check them out on my website. How does the songwriting and recording process compare to live performance for you? I love both the studio and performing, but the studio is my favorite. It's certainly a lot less immediate pressure than a live show! I love the collaborative and creative process the studio provides. It's intuitive for me, even with all the technical components. When someone comes up with the perfect line, lick, or sound, you can't beat that OMG yes, feeling in your gut. But that's usually after you write the song. I seem to spend more time alone when writing than I would like. Once a co-writer and I have a basic idea of what we want to do, I'll usually work on melody and lyrics at home and send stuff over to the co-writer for input. Thankfully I can write from anything - a musical or lyrical idea, a beat, a melody, a title. You name it, and I've started a song from it. My favorites are when I have a full, or almost complete chorus going into a session. I'm all about the hook. Hooks and harmonies have been my favorite part of a song since I was a kid. Singing is my first love, but I need all of the components of music - writing, recording, performing - to be happy. You're an artist with quite an impressive list of accomplishments! What has been your most memorable achievement as an artist? Nothing beats having even just one person tell you they love your music, and each release is an accomplishment due to the amount of work it takes, but being named "New Music Weekly's AC40 Female Artist of the Year" is still surreal. "Rustic Heart" was my first CD, and the first time I did a radio campaign, so nothing like an award had even crossed my mind. The nominees for my category - chosen by radio programmers and DJ's - were a mix of indie and major artists, including Sarah McLachlan and Sheryl Crow. That was honor enough, but when they called my name at the awards show, it was a bit of a shock. It was a big boost for an indie artist. Awards are nice, but never my goal. I focus on creating and giving the very best of myself to a performance or a song. That's what really counts. Knowing I put everything I had into my music is the reward, no matter the outcome. However, when I do start to doubt myself, I use that one in particular as a subtle reminder that I'm on the right path. "True Me" is flooded with absolute passion and emotion. What emotions were crucial to channel when creating this song? For me, it is the visuals of the lyrics that make it so emotional. "A one-way road, no lights to see where to go, I have to make it alone," in the first verse and, "I thought I was home, but storms washed away the stone, your words cut me to the bone," in the second. Those lines are so visceral for me. I see and feel them. I lived them, we all have. I'm very visual when I'm writing or creating. It's like a movie in my head, and it's my job to translate that into words. That is the challenging part. As I mentioned, it just flowed with this song. The melody and lyrics on this song are locked so tightly together you feel it in your gut, and it made me, and I think Jon, a little emotional at times. Singing it feels amazing physically and emotionally, and that is due to how well Jon's melody fits my voice. I also like the twist, especially in the last chorus, "The true me isn't lost or lonely." That touch of hope tends to happen quite a bit in my writing. Even if the song is sad, in most cases, I find some hope. It's not intentional. It's not I must insert something hopeful. It happens naturally. And, it cracks up my friends that know me well since I can tend to be a bit cranky at times. Thank you so much for chatting with us! What's next for you, artistically? More writing and recording. Jon and I have started on another song we are excited about that will be released as a single, probably early next year. I'm still working on some fun stuff for "True Me." I want to do a lyric video for it, and we have a limited number of CD's available with both the full song and the instrumental-only versions. There is also a very limited edition package that includes a butterfly necklace or bracelet to match the butterfly on the CD artwork. As I mentioned, the song represents a transformation to me, and the butterfly is a perfect representation of that idea to me. Also, I'm juggling several other songs with different co-writers that are in various stages of completion. Some are for film/TV or to pitch to other artists. Some may end up as a release from me. It just depends. I am going to release some of my photography for the first time finally. Many people don't know that the artwork on most of my releases contains photos I have taken. The covers for "Believe" and "Hallelujah" are mine. "Rustic Heart," "Good As Gone," and "No Longer Broken" all have photos by me, as do some of my Christmas releases. www.facebook.com/DebbieHennesseyMusic www.instagram.com/debbiehennesseymusic #BuzzMusic
- Get To Know Damian Sage And His New Single "Drive"
Welcome to BuzzMusic Damian Sage! It’s such a pleasure to be chatting with you. You seem to be an artist that puts a substantial amount of thought into your lyrics! Who/what has inspired you to be the artist you are today? Very kind of you to say, thank you. My influences are many and varied. Musically they can range from artists like Bob Dylan or Tori Amos, to The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Chris Cornell and a wide variety of others, across many genres. Life influences I draw from a lot as well. Whether it be struggles, relationships, or any other things that have an affect on me. "Drive" seems like a deeply personal track. Is vulnerability something your fans can always expect from your music? Can you tell us more about this particular song? I feel I’m real if nothing else. I believe you have to be, otherwise people see right through it. My music is where I put it all on the table. Whatever I’m feeling in the moment, that’s what comes out. This song came mostly from a relationship. The first lyric “If you’re gonna steal from me, steal my breath”. I had that in my head for maybe a year before the song came to be. Just waiting for the right place to use it. A lot is about a girl. As far as the title, Drive, I was picturing my brothers car, a 66’ Mustang convertible, driving down the coast. Congratulations on working with Dark Sark Music and Vicky Hamilton! She's worked with huge names like Guns N Roses, June Carter Cash, and Johnny Cash to name a few. How has the experience been for you so far? What does it feel like to follow in the footsteps of these legends? Vicky is amazing. As the label head, and as a friend. We have become very close over the past couple of years. It’s an honor for me to work with her. Some of the names you mentioned of her past clients are huge like you said. I love those artists, they are some of my favorites. It’s sort of surreal in a way, a good way. What can you tell us about your upcoming album? We can't wait to hear more! The album is basically complete. I don’t have an exact release date yet, but I’ll keep you posted! Look for another single in the next couple of months. It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you artistically? Any shows in the near future to support to album?! Thank you for having me. We are working on booking several shows right now, I just finished up a showcase in NYC for the label. It was the Dark Spark Music East Coast launch party. It was awesome. Full house, and as a Native New Yorker I always love going back, especially to perform. Look for several LA and San Diego shows coming up soon. The UK is on the horizon as well. Brownboybandz is a 19-year-old Latino hailing from Gardena, California, he also goes by his reggaeton stage name of Shyco Brown. As a talented rapper, lyricist, and hip-hop/reggaeton artist, he has always had a passion for music flowing through him. At only 19 years of age, Shyco Brown has released a slew of singles and has no plans to slow down anytime son! “Dalé Bebé” ft. N.E.Z. is an easy-going reggaeton/RnB track, with a dance-hall rhythm and a mildly tropical instrumental vibe on the whole. Smooth vocals follow a long-form melody, which later contrasts well with a skillful and softly captivating spoken verses. All of this fits nicely within the track and rightfully takes your mind down to the beach, reigniting those laid-back good vibes just before the colder seasons hit. At its core, “Dalé Bebé” is an easy anthem of a hit, nostalgic in melody and concept, but fresh in set-up and in terms of the two personalities that come through in the performance. Both artists more than meet the mood of the song and set the bar high for anything that follows. It’s a subtly confident yet outwardly humble delivery from both Shyco Brown and N.E.Z., and at the same time, the melody and this soundscape work their magic with a fine balance between creative awareness and professionalism. Check out “Dalé Bebé” here and read more with Shyco Brown below! Welcome back Shyco Brown! It wasn’t long since we’ve last featured your new music. How do you remain on track to write so consistently? I honestly just keep listening over and over to the beat, catching the melody, rhythm, & instruments finding that perfect hook, verse, or chorus to construct that perfect flow. What can you tell us about the meaning for the lyrics in “Dalé Bebé”? The meaning about this song is that don't be nervous to dance baby go ahead, that booty is gonna make the club explode. “Dalé Bebé” presents as such a summer vibe! What was the overall production like for this track? Have you collaborated with N.E.Z. before? This was my first collab with N.E.Z and we killed it!!!! How did the songwriting and recording process execute for “Dalé Bebé”? Did you fall into any creative slumps while initially writing the track, or does the curation process flow naturally for you? There was a lil bit of creative slumps and everything else was flowing right. Thanks so much for chatting with us yet again! With all your most recent singles coming out so quickly, do you think you’ll have a longer project on the way in the near future? Definitely be expecting not just one but multiple long projects in the future to come. www.instagram.com/brownboybandz #BuzzMusic
- Mikaela Finne Is Quickly Making Her Name Known With Release Like “Do I Even Know”
Mikaela Finne is an up and coming country artist from Sundom outside of Vasa, Finland. Mikaela Finne is swiftly building an impressive name for herself on the global music scene. With stunning country-rock vocals and a clear awareness of what works from a songwriting perspective, her music reaches out to connect with a broader audience. It effectively fuses hints of organic country with a rock sentiment and an overall engaging, enjoyable style. “Do I Even Know” is all of this, a quickly familiar set-up paves the way well for a song that skillfully and poetically details the scenes of its story. Mikaela Finne has fused a brilliantly uplifting and progressive melody, with a warm and comforting musicality, and a story that seems just personal enough to connect, but also vague enough for listeners to make it their own. It’s a pleasure to know there are artists and songwriters creating and performing music of this nature with such clear passion and a love for the process. It’s easy to hear why fans have taken to the rising star Mikaela in recent months. This latest single speaks volumes on behalf of the quality and content that’s to come. Definitely a name worth knowing. Check out “Do I Even Know” and Mikaela Finne’s self-titled album here and read more with the artist below! Welcome to BuzzMusic Mikaela Finne! Great to be able to chat with you, thanks for the interview! What can you tell us about the overall concept of your self-titled album? I wanted to make a record I could be proud of, a record with some older songs, new songs and some of my favorite songs. And I accomplished just that. “Do I Even Know" was an incredibly versatile and catchy track. Where did you draw the inspiration to create this particular type of sound? Thank you, I’m glad you like it! “Do I Even Know” is one of my personal favorites from the record. This song and the whole record has a sound that’s real and true to me as an artist, and that’s exactly what I wanted and talked to my producer Oscar Harryson about before we started recording. I didn’t want something that sounded “clean” or “slick”. I wanted a 100% real sound, and that’s what we created. How would you say that “Do I Even Know" compares to the kind of music you curated when you first started out as an artist?! Oh wow, I think it’s very different because when I started out writing songs I was about 13-14 years old and I thought about what others would think when I wrote my songs, and I don’t do that anymore. And at least to me, I can tell from the songs I’m writing now. Do you prefer the more intimate recording process over live performance? How do you personally feel when you're performing your music live? I love both very much, can't choose which one I like more because they're two totally different experiences. How have you honed your songwriting style over time, and what do you think are the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last in the long-run? I edit my songs a lot more now then I did way back when, and to me it shows. I think more about how I wanna express myself and what I want the listener to feel when they hear my song. For me a good song is a song that makes you think or feel, and its relatable. It’s so easy to feel lonely in this world we’re living in and a good song can make that go away for a little bit. It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you after this album release? Any shows in the near future?! My goal for 2020 is to play more live shows then I've ever done before. I'm gonna apply to play at AmericanaFest again as well and hopefully I'll be performing at the festival in Nashville in September 2020. On November 8th I'm having a release gig for my record, here in Stockholm and I'm very much looking forward to that. www.instagram.com/musicbymikaela www.facebook.com/musicbymikaela #BuzzMusic
- Introducing Indie/Rock Band Mahogany Purple & Their New Track: "I Want"!
Currently based in Miami, FL, Indie/Rock band Mahogany Purple is creating a sound that beautifully integrates a variety of sounds, from a variety of musicians. A band that includes six members, Mahogany Purple blends together a diverse set of instruments, that when combined, create an alluring and charming presence. With one unified sound, stemming from an array of inspiration, Mahogany Purple sets out to cultivate a distinct climate for listeners. The cool and calming effects of Mahogany Purple's latest song "I Want" are freeing. "I Want" has a prominent vocal appearance that oscillates throughout the track. The musical production is an entity that completely stands out in this particular track, due to the various instrumental contributions, creating a variety of sounds that tend to be unfamiliar to most Indie/Rock songs. However, this unfamiliarity in terms of the usual production stylings is what makes "I Want" memorable and distinct from other tracks. Mahogany Purple brings in sounds from various locations, and blends them all together in a way that is both mesmerizing and overall excitable! "I Want" varies from the other tracks present on "Late to the Party", where most tracks on the record incorporate a more fast-paced execution, while "I Want" is more laid-back and in-tune with a relaxing atmosphere. It is easily distinguished that "I Want" has numerous contributions from all six band members, manifesting a harmony that is atypical, yet perfectly fitting for this Mahogany Purple track! We urge Indie/Rock fans to give Mahogany Purple's "I Want" a listen to here! Keep scrolling for our interview with the band! Hey there Mahogany Purple! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We listened to "Late to the Party" and loved the range of sounds we heard all throughout! How long did it take the band to manifest this album, and was the recording process more difficult this time around, considering your geographical locations? Hey BuzzMusic, thanks for the warm welcome! "Late to the Party" was a creative process that took us around 4 months to complete. The recording was done before everyone had moved to their respective locations, however, the production was still being tweaked after one of our members had left to Oregon. Due to having an absent member, the production process involved sending various mp3 files back and forth to make sure there was a mutual agreement on the sound we wanted. All in all, we found the process to be more challenging but the end result was worth it in our opinion. We definitely felt that "I Want" off of "Late to the Party" was one of the more mellow, and laid-back tracks. What was the general atmosphere the band wanted to create with this particular track? When making "I Want", we wanted to take a more modern and serious approach to our songwriting. Creating a laid-back song was not our original intention, we simply wanted the song to groove. The mellow atmosphere was an end result. Does the band always incorporate a prominent message behind each curated track? What was the takeaway from "I Want"? Yes, we do! Writing music is a creative outlet for us. Our vocalist makes the lyrics to our songs, which often mirror what's going on in his life. We strive to have a message behind every song. "I Want" is intended to show the push and pull within the psyche of an individual wanting a relationship with another, but never being sure if it's reciprocated. This not only applies to romantic relationships, but to relationships as a whole. “I Want” acknowledges that desires are part of a person's inner nature - whether or not one should act on that inner nature is never an easy question to answer. You've mentioned before that your views and inspirations vary, yet it attributes even more to the creation of the bands' music. What type of clashes has the band faced before that rather than being a setback, actually aided in the curation process? We don't clash very often when it comes to the creation of our music. There is a natural process of trial and error that comes with making our music, however, we try to stay as open-minded as possible. It's been a pleasure to feature "I Want" here on BuzzMusic! Now that "Late to the Party" is released, what is the next move for Mahogany Purple as a whole? Thank you again for having us! Our next step is to create more content for our listeners. From new music videos to merchandise lines, we want to expand the Mahogany Purple brand far and wide. We will continue to grow and innovate our music as we strive to reimagine the new sound of indie-rock. facebook.com/mahoganypurple twitter.com/Mahogany_Purple #BuzzMusic
- You’ll Never Catch Demown “Slippin’” In His Newest Track
Hailing from Naples, Florida, up and coming to rapper Brown Demosthenes is better known for his professional name of Demown. A proud father and self-made artist, he brings a versatile flow that he can switch up to fit the mood of any track. His ultimate goal is to make relatable tracks for his listeners and fans. He has the ambition and drives to make it big in the music industry. Demown’s latest track titled “Slippin” brings through a clear love for life and for hip hop in general. It’s is an easy anthem for the next few months, loaded with good vibes, quirky rhymes, and a consistently rhythmic flow that works well on top of the natural bounce of the beat. Everything from the production to the vocal flow for this release is of impressive quality. The backdrop brings together a fairly classic hip hop style with a slightly more energizing vibe. There’s a smoothness to it all, and Demown’s voice alongside this works perfectly. “Slippin” is a fresh track that tips its hat to the sound of today and that of a simpler time, working well to further introduce Demown’s style and sound. Listen to “Slippin” here and read more with Demown below! Tell us about the recent projects you've been in the works with musically? Up and coming album Through The Headphones is just the first of many. This is an album about me. Fans will get to experience life through my eyes or "through the headphones" if you will. it is about past experiences both triumphs and struggles. How would you say you personally navigate through the music world? What's your secret in becoming a well-rounded artist and lyricist? I am a "beat surfer" I spazz on the beat instead of on people in the real world. My secret to becoming a well-rounded artist is BE YOURSELF don't try to be what your not or try to portray and character of which you are not. Everything I say and do is real. We thoroughly enjoyed your track “Slippin’”! Can you tell us the meaning behind the lyrics and the overall concept of the music video? Thank You!! The concept behind the lyric of Slippin is my view on slipping through obstacles even when I didn't think I was going to make it. People don't wanna see you on your come up, so I say "hell naw they aint got catch me slippin" Every day has a different up and down just speaking on real life. The video concept was me being solo on my come up cuz they ain't got catch me slippin. Can you tell us about your live performances? Do you prefer live performance over the actual songwriting/recording process? I truly enjoy doing both. Either way, I give it my all. Weather in the studio writing and recording or performing what I laid down it is an adrenal rush and I love seeing my vision come alive. For me, studio time is more on a personal level, me becoming one with the mic and giving it all I got. Then performing is what I get to show the world, who I am and who I am destined to be. It was a real treat being able to feature you on our platform. Would you say that your new music in the works currently adheres to any world trends within music right now?! Yes, I feel like my music is some of the best out right now. Trends change in the world. I stay true to myself like so many of those before me and the greatness to come after me. Thank you so much BuzzMusic for this opportunity. I greatly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Can't wait for what's to come! facebook.com/brown.demosthenes.1 instagram.com/demown239 #BuzzMusic
- Getting To Know Ralph Jodaman
Hey Ralph Jodaman! Welcome to BuzzMusic! It’s such a pleasure to be chatting with you. You seem to be an artist that puts a substantial amount of thought into your lyrics! Who/what has inspired you to be the artist you are today? What inspired me was the way Hip-Hop & Funk music blended together. We think of Hip-Hop being more straightforward due to how the message is worded. To me, Hip-Hop is a universal language when you speak about things that actually happened in your life whom others like you or unlike you can relate to. With Funk, the upbeat melodies & vibes it contained throughout history were invented to help listeners find a greater perspective in life. These two genres complement each other by their rhythms, sounds, & in some cases, the message that blends in with the two types of music. To me, Hip-Hop & Funk helps you see things in a different light. I found it therapeutic to my personal well being & made me more accepting of my true identity as well as my character. "Nevertheless" seems like a deeply personal track. Is vulnerability something your fans can always expect from your music? Can you tell us more about this particular song? It is personal based on my transgressions & making better decisions in the process. I would say that being vulnerable only works sometimes because when you’re down & out, you’re simply down & out. Therefore you have to express those feelings in that manner. The song “Nevertheless” was more about redemption, taking a situation YOU find to be an obstacle, yet turning it around in your favor. Like for example, through the years I had a very rough time with writing music I’m comfortable with because I was still finding myself in the midst of trying to understand people around me in the world today. Now it’s safe to say I’m following my own path & leaving a trail with my level of artistry. It's no surprise that "Nightlife" garnered so much success! It's so catchy and infused with your personal flair and funk. What was the production process like for this song? Thank you so much for that, I find ”The Nightlife” song more & more awesome when I hear it now. I had to record that particular song twice in two different sessions when the first recording was not as great as it should be. The production process started with a beatmaker name “Eclectic” who has a catalog of beats online. I knew that it would be harder for me to pay a large amount of money in a studio session for one of these beats to be composed of the ground up. This was when I decided to shop at websites for beats, purchase them, & send them to professionals in music studios to record. Of course, I was looking for funky hip-hop beats & then I heard the beat for “Nightlife,” which instantly kicked off my journey as of today. The song was recorded in the West Side of Chicago by a local artist from that same city, who is also a professional audio & mixed engineer name SoundGuyMike. It took no time to record the song itself but writing it before the studio time was a task. I wanted to make sure this was the one. What has been your most memorable achievement as an artist? At this moment, it would be completing my debut project “FUNKIZM” without a doubt. As a teen, I always wanted to make albums as much as I wrote. I remember buying cassette tapes & compact discs of various Hip-Hop artists that we grew up listening to, hoping one day I would get a chance in the game. Since were in a different era to where we are own bosses, I took that to my advantage & said to myself “Let’s Work.” All of the lyrics you hear on the album “FUNKIZM” were written by no one else but me. The beat selections were a great fit for my style of rap & I proudly executed every song with total confidence. Best times by far. Thank you so much for chatting with us. What's the next move for you artistically? Are you playing any shows in the near future? Much appreciated. My next thing for this year is to continue promoting the album & follow up with exclusive music for the spring of next year. Far as stage performances, I’m working on booked dates in not only Chicago, IL but also in Portland, OR & Lansing, MI. We’ll see what happens. instagram.com/ralphyb3799 #BuzzMusic

We're beyond happy to be featuring you and your latest release "Ghost" on BuzzMusic! It’s surging with articulate emotions. What kind of feelings did you want listeners to be washed over with when listening to the song? I hope listeners will feel confident after hearing Ghost. Confident in the sense that you’re able to move forward from a difficult situation or relationship and walk away with your head held high. You’ve known that music is your passion since you were young, but what inspired you to be so involved with music from such a young age? Honestly, singing is all I ever wanted to do. Even before I knew it was a career, I was always singing and humming. I went to my first concert at 3, to see Hillary Duff. I cried because I wanted to be on stage singing with her! Then I started doing musical theatre when I was 6. “Ghost” is an incredible track! What can you tell us about the creative process for this song? Well, unfortunately, I was “ghosted" by this guy that I had a crush on. It was a terrible feeling. So I started writing about it, and the result was this song. So now I guess it was worth it!! How would you say your music now compares to the music you curated when you first started out in the music industry? My music is constantly evolving. As I grow up and experience new things and have new relationships, I learn more about myself and that translates into the type of music I make at the time. My music now is definitely edgier, and I find my lyrics becoming deeper and more meaningful too. Thank you so much for chatting with us! What would you say is the main inspiration behind your music? My music is inspired by my life, my experiences, relationships, and my dreams!! Thank you for your kind words about my music and for the opportunity to share more about me and my music with everyone! instagram.com/caseybaerr #BuzzMusic
- Experimental Indie-Rock Collective Follow Deep Brings The Energy With “Suffocating”
All the way from Hull, England, Follow Deep is a three-piece indie/alternative rock band that brings their heavy, yet unique, sound to our playlist. Energetic both on and off stage, Follow Deep incorporates a saxophone into their songs to bring a heavy, big band feel to their authentic sound. Together for just under three years, Follow Deep has much more on the way! Follow Deep has an energetic, rhythm packed track titled “Suffocating”. The track boasts retrospective lyricism, pummeling guitars, catchy melodic riffs, and heavy rhythmic drums. Follow Deep exudes authentic chemistry that only comes from fine calibration and undeniable talent. “Suffocating” weaves through storytelling elements that focus on the trials and tribulations of love, while still remaining a contemporary indie-rock track. The lead vocalist has a unique voice that is showcased brilliantly throughout the almost spoken-word verses. Using music as an outlet for their emotive lyricism, Follow Deep establishes a solid foundation for their fans to relate to their songs. “Suffocating” is a welcome and addicting new addition to the music industry and I highly recommend you check it out and stay on the lookout for what Follow Deep delivers next! Check out “Suffocating” here Welcome to BuzzMusic Follow Deep! We love your sound and we’re always curious about how new bands form. Can you start by introducing yourself and how you met and created Follow Deep? We are an indie/alt-rock three-piece band from Hull (UK), consisting of Luke (vocals, guitar), Joe (bass, keys, sax), and Jed (vocals, drums). We all met at a music academy in Hull and got thrown together almost straight away. Initially, we started as a covers band, but after a year of being bored playing other people’s music and a few changes to our line-up, we decided to do our own thing and created Follow Deep. “Suffocating” is such a fun and upbeat song! What's the underlying message within the lyricism? Pretty much the complete opposite! It’s about someone who realizes they’re in a bad relationship and ends it. They then start questioning themselves and if they did the right thing, before realizing that although they’re unhappy they’re still better off to be alone than to be with the other person. How do you personally feel about live performance? Would you say that you prefer the live performance aspect of music more over the writing/recording process? We love playing live! We’re always counting down the minutes until our next gig, no matter where it is or how many people are there. There’s no feeling like playing on stage with your friends there with you watching everyone in the crowd having fun and dancing to your music. It’s still a lot of fun going through the writing and recording process, especially when we finish off a new song, but it’s a completely different kind of buzz compared to playing live. We notice that you’ve released 3 singles in 2019 already! Is this pointing to a larger project in the near future? When we decided to bring out those 3 singles, we didn’t really know what direction we wanted to take – whether we were just going to carry on releasing singles or plan on something bigger. Since then we’ve actually got something pretty big planned, but I guess you’ll have to wait and see what it is... Thank you for allowing us to feature your music! What else is happening for Follow Deep through the end of 2019/early 2020? Thank you for featuring us! We’ve got quite a lot of gigs happening through October around the UK which are looking to be a lot of fun. The end of this year and the start of next year promises to be very exciting for us as we’re going to be doing something we haven’t done before, so it’ll definitely be worth keeping an eye open for that! facebook.com/FollowDeepUK instagram.com/followdeepuk twitter.com/followdeepuk #BuzzMusic
