  • Check Out Bent Jetty’s Highly Anticipated Debut Album

Bent Jetty is an alternative indie-rock band making their name known from Orange County, California. Bent Jetty is comprised of members Wyatt Strassner on guitar and vocals, Greg Gamarra on vocals, Matt Wiste on guitar and vocals, and Christian Fleck on bass guitar. Friends since high school, the quadruplets by choice didn’t begin playing music together until college and their debut album has been five years in the making. Beginning with the immediately impactful “In Love Again”, Bent Jetty’s sound pours through with a nostalgic purity that seems all but missing from the modern indie-rock sound. There’s an anthem-like, near driving-ballad sort of aura to the song, particularly the vocal. It rises up from softness to intensity, and the soundscape effectively supports this, showcasing the progressing stages of the lyrics in a powerful and fitting way. While there’s an accessible and relatable quality to the sentiments, the next track titled “Dreamcatcher” has taken to exploring these in an again classically rooted manner, giving the whole song a poetic undertone that intertwines beautifully with the developing power of the music. This kind of style can be found in varied fashions throughout the project. Always the drums and the guitars cascade in a refreshing and genuinely creative yet raw manner, which appeals for its realness, and reminds you that a live show is undoubtedly where things would really come alive. During “Warming Up”, the leading voice grips you more and more, moving from delicate and nearly spoken word during the introduction, to ultimately passionate and just gritty enough to really present this story-line with genuine heart and struggle.“Medicine You Like” adds an element of brightness in terms of the musical mood. The melody captivates as a few notes rise up and fall back down to layout the personal story-line. A hint of lightness follows later and helps build an interesting structure. “Old Pine Road” afterward leads with more entrancing riffs and quickly captures your affection for its fine balancing between the quick and the mellow. An easy favorite for the simple yet still huge hook section. The simplicity allows for creative freedoms with smooth guitar and punching vocals. “Oceans Away” is another highlight for the contrast between the secure rhythm of the riff and the beat with the steady pace of the vocal creates something easily memorable and quite classic feeling. Again, the lyrics seem to hit less intensely than the general vibe of the music, but with a second listen you start to form those connections! “We Don’t Care” comes into the mix with a soulful guitar line. As the percussion sections move in, we’re graced with 4 minutes of indie-pop brilliance to take us further into this incredible project. “Songbird” features harmonically rich and emotional vocals to paint a soundscape in your mind, Bent Jetty allows the listener to escape into an alternate reality and live in the music. “Songbird” changes the pace of the album, with light guitar strumming and a simple melody. The vocals are perfectly suiting the sentiments and light-hearted aura of this song. The musicianship on this project is consistently flawless, whether the moment is high energy or more of a subtle, intentional gathering of layers, the band knows precisely how to bring about the right pace while still managing to impress. “Welcome to Springtime” has a simple yet addictive melody accompanied by intriguing lyrics and the minimalist strum of an acoustic guitar. Things begin on a strong foot and grow to be all the more immersive and musically wonderful as the song pours through. Easily worth a second listen before moving on – a stunning pop-rock track with a beautiful sense of depth; and a brilliant hook. “The Chase” is another highlight, showing a more rock theme embedded within the musicianship of the track. The hypnotizing vocals quietly calm and entrance the listener, while even more deeply considerate and honest lyrics drive a concept through. You get so much clarity from this project as if these are the songs that had to be sung, the thoughts that had to be shared. It’s a classic playlist and not a moment has been wasted or included purely to fill a space. “Figure It Out” undoubtedly stands out for its cinematic ambiance and the gritty nature of that driving bass. A blues-like scene is set, within which a simple yet captivating, poetic song works in a hypnotic fashion to envelop the listener and contrast hits hard as the hook falls into view. “Expectations” afterward completely redirects you yet again – an Americana-like song at first, pondering life and time in an overwhelming yet stunning manner. An absolutely beautiful track, incredibly expressive lyrics and a fantastic long-form melody-line and a musical build-up that intensifies superbly. “Achin’” offers a further hit of nostalgic alternative rock right before the calming aura of “Blood Red Moon” brings the album to a finish. That vocal tone and the style of these songs offer a distinct thread throughout, mood-wise though there’s plenty of eclecticism at work, and for these reasons, the album makes for a wonderful playlist to escape within. A great way to go out, superb guitar work yet again and an overall enjoyable, entertaining piece of music and performance. Bent Jetty’s sound as it stands today is easy to spot. There’s plenty of individuality in the approach, and just enough familiarity to really appeal to the rock outcasts who crave that original, authentic aura. This album is a strong release start to finish. We can’t wait to hear more! Check out the album here and read more with Bent Jetty below! Welcome to BuzzMusic Bent Jetty! Can you briefly introduce yourselves to our readers? How did you go about choosing your stage name? Thanks for welcoming us to the BuzzMusic family! We’re excited to have your listeners hear our album. We’re an eclectic Indie outfit originally from Orange County. As we were writing songs and conceptualizing what we wanted our listeners to identify with, we realized that our sound was inspired by where we lived -- Southern California. The name Bent Jetty is meant to evoke the spirit of coastal living, and all of the wonderful things that come along with that like sun-kissed beach days, late night drives on PCH, and the endless beautiful people that live in Southern California. How was the production of your latest album? Did your initial vision for the album end up executing as you thought it would?! The album was recorded at Sound Asylum studios in Santa Ana CA with engineer Mike Troolines. For our first full-length album we really wanted to have the highest production value possible, and we felt like we were able to achieve that with Mikes skill set and gear. Our initial concept was to have no two tracks sound the same, which was really an attempt to be an anti-genre band. While we do stick to classic instrumentation like drums, bass, and guitar, we didn’t want the record to be put in a categorical box as a rock record, or a pop record, or anything else. We’re really proud of the work that went into the record, and we hope that listeners will enjoy hearing it as much as we enjoyed making it! "Medicine You Like" was that type of track that pulsates with energy! What kind of vibe were you going for when curating the track? That track was a fun one to write and produce! For many of our songs, we build them around a fictional archetypal hero that is in a particular time & place in his/her arc. This song draws sonic and lyrical inspiration from post-civil war America, and is meant to tell the story of a relationship between two people that come from opposing ideologies and familial backgrounds. The song is their journey in reconciling those differences, and ultimately giving their love a chance to grow unhindered from the various influences at play. We really wanted to capture the Twain-era sentiment by using a train drumbeat, walking baseline, and even an appearance by a banjulele. This track is meant to be fun, upbeat, and a bit of a throwback to Americana songs from the late 19th century. The whole album is extremely versatile and impressive! What would you say is the track that holds the most emotion? What’s the story or inspiration behind this song? Thank you, we are so happy you are liking the range and quality of the tracks. That is a tough question! All of the tracks are so near and dear to us as we spent considerable amounts of time and resources to write, record, and produce them. One track that comes to mind as having the most emotional gravity is number 6 “Oceans Away.” It’s placed in the middle of the album as a bit of pillar to signal the end of the first half and beginning of the second half of the album.  It was written with a 6/8 time signature that waltzes the listener through the story of two lovers that’s are worlds apart, or “Oceans Away.” We wanted to capture a nostalgic and longing feeling in the lyrics, and tried to channel how a soldier might feel, across the world and away from his lover. The Beatles-esque string section, tremolo picking, and descending melody offers the listener a calming sonic pallet as well as a chance to reflect on his/her own love story. Our favorite moments include the bookended piano intro and outro, the post-chorus string section, and the single harmonic note after the bridge that drops you back into the final chorus. Thank you so much for chatting with us! Do you have any upcoming events or shows to tell us about!? Thank you for having us on, and for reviewing the album. We don’t have anything planned for the rest of 2019, but who knows what 2020 holds! Hopefully we’ll be able to record some more music, and keep doing what we love! www.facebook.com/BentJetty www.instagram.com/bentjetty #BuzzMusic

  • “Discomposure” By Natalie Claro Proves That Women Rock

Natalie Claro is an incredible independent artist hailing from New York City. Multi-talented and ambitious, Natalie is the sole singer/songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist on all of her original tracks. Known for her captivating lyrical themes, she truly shines when she on stage. Her powerful vocals, crowd surfing, and on stage cartwheels make her an unforgettable act to see live. Through her eclectic and accessible music, Natalie Claro’s fan base impressively ranges from teenagers to 60’s rock fans and beyond. Featured on Natalie Claro’s EP “Selfish Topics” is the hard-hitting indie-rock anthem “Discomposure”. It’s easily one of the most instrumentally energizing and satisfying tracks on this EP. After the intro, “Discomposure” explodes into a thick wall of distorted power-chords and fast drums that are accompanied by a clear-cut vocal that again drives with every detail of the storyline in a graphic and compelling manner. It’s all soaked in an authentic care-free meets overly-concerned air. Natalie Claro has an immediately recognizable tone and technique to her songwriting and performances, you can still absolutely see how she’s garnered such an impressive fan base. A big part of that has perhaps been the theme of the writing alongside her charisma and true talent. Listen to “Discomposure” here and keep scrolling for more with Natalie Claro below! Hey Natalie Claro! Great to be showcasing some of your new music on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about your personal upbringing within the music world? • Heck yeah thanks for having me! Music is less of a casual concept to my family and more of a critical aspect of existence. My grandfather was in a jazz band and played multiple instruments, I was gifted his 1960’s drum kit and it’s so beautiful I would stare at it for hours if I could. My dad was a DJ in highschool/college, my mom always involved with jazz dance. I’ve never been in the same room as my father and there not be carefully created playlists thumping on a bluetooth speaker. His taste in music is impeccable and so diverse that without him I doubt my music would sound the way it does. As for growing up, I was always in musical theater, school orchestra, singing groups, I mean virtually anything productive. I guess that’s what I naturally gravitated to. I don’t think I really knew what would come of it. Do you believe that the way you intend to communicate your messages through your music is easily received by your listeners? • Hm. Most of the time. It depends. I’ve had teenagers come to me saying that my lyrics have genuinely changed their life. Like, made them either get off their butt and follow their dreams or even grow out of a bad mental state. But on the other hand, I’ve had a fair share of people who had been clueless to the meaning of some of my songs until they read the synopsis of each one in the merch booklets I hand out. I try to repeat my purpose like a broken record in case it’s accidently unheard. But in the end I think people receive music the way they want to receive it. Some are just along for the sound. Some crave elucidation. Either way, I hope they stick around for awhile. “Discomposure" was an incredibly versatile and catchy track. Where did you draw the inspiration to create this particular type of sound? • Ah thanks so much! At times I catch myself writing a song with another track or artist I love in mind, but weirdly that wasn’t the case with this. I was chilling with my guitar, essentially venting in the notepad app with a stream of consciousness (hence the run on rambling in the first verse.) As for the overall tone of the song, it kept changing and evolving throughout each process of the production. I sped it up drastically to match the anxiousness of the lyrics. I cut the second verse into half tempo to assist in an idea I had for the (potential) music video. The guitar solo was a literal last minute touch I invited my friend to do because the instrumental section needed to have more of an emotional release. I guess what I’m saying is... the song’s sound was essentially inspired by it’s own message. How would you say that "Selfish Topics" compares to the kind of music you curated when you first started out as an artist?! • I’ve been told it’s more “mature”, I guess? Disconnect was all written when I was 14 and 15 years old, and produced when I was 16. I had never produced music; zero experience. It’s not co-produced, it had no adult director. Just teenage Natalie with quite literally no clue what she was doing and sorta... winging it. Now that I’ve learned and developed as a creator I have way more intention behind each layer. I’ve invested into better equipment and resources. The sophistication of my music basically grows as I do. It was awesome to be able to present "Discomposure" here on BuzzMusic! What do you think is next for you as an artist? Where do you hope to progress within the next couple of years?! • I’m focused on getting to a point where I can frequently pump out content with zero limitations, ya know? A lifestyle fortification that allows me to create any video I need, or any single I suddenly think is the perfect time to release, whenever I please. I fully intend on continuous touring with brief breaks in between, so while I’m only able to do so much at once, with determination I can build something that will be the constant chaotic whirlwind I need. That and being very rich. Rich would be cool. Imagine being able to help someone disadvantaged with a write of a check. Buying supplies for a city in disaster relief. Handing a giant wad of Franklin’s to a family who can’t afford medical bills. That’d be dope. Kinda reminds me of Billionaire by Travie Mccoy and Bruno. • Dan Conway Is An Ambitious And “Relentless” New Artist!

Dan Conway is the epitome of an ambitious artist. As a producer and songwriter from New York, he learned from a young age to always keep pushing even when the odds are stacked against him. After breaking his leg in a varsity wrestling match, Dan found himself needing an outlet for his devastation and frustration. Music was the answer, it was the ultimate healer for him. Now Dan Conway aims to be an inspiration for others through his relatable music and neverending strive for greatness. “Relentless. What keeps me moving forward. Relentless. When all seems lost. Relentless.” Dan Conway’s single “Relentless” completely captures his attitude and sentiments as an artist. There’s clearly a level of depth to this that speaks volumes on behalf of Dan’s own journey and personal experiences. The way he’s expressed this is not only beautifully poetic but complex and simple all at once. “Relentless” is vague enough to be made your own and mysterious enough to leave you wondering exactly what Dan’s inspiration for this song might be. Taking a step closer towards electronic production, but still holding on to ambient and multi-layered soundscape design, Dan Conway presents a brilliant sense of rhythm, melody, and vocal delivery. “Relentless” introduces an indestructible side of the singer/songwriter, and it’s a pleasure to hear that creative variety. Check out “Relentless” here and read more with Dan Conway below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We're incredibly excited to be featuring your song “Relentless”. Tell us about the recording process, and how the overall curative process was for this piece? -This recording process was one of the best experiences. I was going through a really tough time in my life. The girl I thought I would marry, that I wrote music with and created with, and most importantly loved and trusted; cheated on me. She not only betrayed my trust, but she thought we could continue making music and pursing the songwriters life together. I recorded an EP for my Ex and I in the past, but before our relationship ended we started recording with my buddy Nick from Zin Records. I've known Nick for a long time as he was a good friend of my sister growing up. I followed his band "Life Between Sleep" and knew that he would be a good person to take our musical vision in a good direction. Following the break up, Nick and I had multiple conversations. The conversations consisted of my musical direction, and how moving forward as a solo artist would be in my best interest. The first couple sessions at his studio were like therapy sessions. Outside of songs I've written in the past I have not really been able to open up the way I was able to during this recording process. The theme of the song stemmed from these conversations. The idea became more clear when I stated how I wouldn't give up on the love I had. Being relentless, and not wanting to see the one I loved and all the memories just fade to nothing. I tried everything in my power to salvage what we had, before learning that she had cheated. The power behind the vocal came from this raw emotion of being hurt. The lyrics came from that hurt, but was framed in the mindset of when I was still holding on. There's so much raw emotion and power in this song, and the process is one that I will not forget. Being an artist is one of the toughest things because you are vulnerable, but sometimes being exposed and putting your heart on the line leads to magical things. How do you think "Relentless" compares to your newest single “Electric Sunshine”? How do you think your overall sound has progressed since your debut release? -The tracks are different for sure. "Relentless" is meant to give the listener an opportunity to connect through the lyrical content, and the overall message portrayed in the song. Meanwhile, "Electric Sunshine" was a creative work that I released to give my listeners variety. As a writer and a producer I think we are always trying to find new ways to reinvent ourselves. I never know what is going to inspire me next, but when I create a new work I always put 100% of my soul into, and hopefully the listeners feel that energy and connect with what I am saying both lyrically and musically. I think my sound progressed nicely. I have been trying new styles and working on different tracks to try to expand my abilities, and learn more about who I am as a creator. Who has had the biggest influence on your life musically thus far? Can you describe the impact this particular individual has had in terms of “Relentless”? - The biggest influence in my life musically would be Nick from Zin Records. I've recorded multiple records at his studio, and the atmosphere he provides as a writer is not only a comfortable one, but also an environment where you want to create the best possible record you can. I've learned so much from him as a creator, and just as a person to look up to in terms of the passion he has. I think every great artist has had a mentor and a guide to get them on the right track, and Nick has given me this light. He has been the light that has helped me understand myself as a person and a musician alike. There is nothing more important than the confidence someone can instill within you. I am thankful for having Nick in my life and he will be lifelong friend. What are some of your ultimate goals as an artist? Are any of these goals currently being put into place/being worked on? My ultimate goal is to have my music embraced. I want to play my original songs in front of crowds that connect with the words I'm conveying and bring meaning to their life. Whether they are going through a tough time in their life, or they just want to have fun and dance. This is why I think it is important as a musician to have a variety of sound and styles within your catalog. There are so many people to reach. I look at music as a healer for my own well being, but I know there are people that feel the same way as I do. If I can bring joy into their life then I did my job. Music has elevated me through my lowest times, and has helped me understand my life. I hope I can bring that same feeling to my fans. It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! What’s next for you artistically?! "The Space Between Us" You heard it here first. October 15th is the release date. Aforementioned I used to be in a band with my Ex who eventually cheated on me. We severed ties, and this song is my way of letting go. This song is my acceptance of the fact that people change... relationships change, and that it's okay to let go of situations that are no longer good for you. Plus, it's a jam so everyone should definitely give it a listen in their car on full blast! Thanks to everyone at BuzzMusic! This experience has been such a positive one, and I look forward to working with you guys in the near future! • Josey’s Debut Single "TMI" Brings The Heat

Josey said it herself, she sings to express, not impress. This soul-pop artist wants to connect with her audience, whether it be through her lyrics about self-love or her vibrant voice. Growing up in Houston, TX, Josey takes her past experiences in life and uses them to fuel her music-making process. After winning the talent competition "The Fame Chicago" in 2016 and later moving to Nashville, TN to pursue music, Josey is here to release her debut single "TMI"! Josey often writes about the lows and highs of life, relationships she's had, and her childhood. In "TMI", she brings us her point of view when dealing with an overpowering relationship. Her strong voice makes a powerful impression on the listener. It's clear Josey means business, both in the song and in terms of her musical talent. While her voice embodies the emotions she's felt, the lyrics echo that the person in her relationship is literally doing "too much". Her sweeping notes have got us hooked on this song. On top of her vocals, the pop sound is clean and adds to the catchiness. The guitar adds spice to the track and the beat is on point until the very end. And by the final buildup, we were so ready for Josey to steal our hearts with her explosive final runs. Her heart and soul are poured into this track and the final product is just so perfect. Please give “TMI” a listen today! Check out "TMI" here and read more with Josey below! Welcome to BuzzMusic Josey! “TMI” is the type of music we need today. Why do you feel it is important to write and sing about your past experiences in life? I think it is very important to write and sing about your past life experiences because it's like therapy in a way. It helps you acknowledge what went wrong, you can address the situation and come to terms with how to be better and do better. It also lets go of everything you were holding in or holding back its really cathartic tbh lol Was there a particular experience that led to the creation of this song? I wrote this songs 3 years ago while studying abroad in germany for an international songwriting camp. Originally I was writing it for another artist. So there were multiple life situations that led to this song. They range from being fed up with " the party" experience and people who just won't leave you alone or take no for an answer! To someone you trusted running around talking shit and spreading lies about you. How are you able to open yourself emotionally to an audience when performing? It actually took me a long time to be vulnerable on stage and really open my heart. That is the hardest part but for me, I knew my music and the message I wanted to share was bigger than my fear and insecurities. I'm not an actress, my music is me and I want to be authentic on and off stage. I'm an open book and I truly have no shame! I was in a competition in 2016 " the fame Chicago" and the mentors really pushes me to put down those walls while performing and I took their advice and I ended up winning the competition! I may not be the best singer or writer or guitar player but I will always give it my all from heart and soul and I think that is special. Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations? Some of my biggest musical inspirations are India arie, Lauryn Hill, Pink, Stevie Wonder, Sara Bareilles, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Adele! What’s next for you and your music in the upcoming year? Any projects or performances on the horizon? I'm working on recording my second single, I'm gonna release that early next year! So be on the lookout for that! I will be dropping my 3rd single in the spring/early summer of 2020! I'm also working on my debut EP, that hopefully will be out by this time next year. I do have some special shows coming up! I am playing in London for the first time! October 17th at the Luna Lounge and October 22nd at the Bedford! I will also be playing some more secret shows with sofar sounds! I actually just played at the Exit In for the first time and it was lovely! I had no idea how iconic that venue is! Working on booking more shows and touring for next year! www.instagram.com/josey_omo www.facebook.com/Joseyofficial www.joseyofficial.com #BuzzMusic

  • Operation Underground Is Back With A Brand New EP “Conflicting Sides”

Operation Underground is a Denver based hip-hop duo making their name known since their formation in October 2018. Influenced by Eminem, Nas, Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, N.W.A, The Beastie Boys, Operation blends multiple genres to create their own unique style. Operation Underground’s new EP “Conflicting Sides” takes the listeners on a 4-track journey through the eclectic soundscapes of this dynamic duo. “Here We Come” is exactly what its title promises and OU delivers bars with natural confidence and heart. Both members have a certain tone and vocal style that’s easy to acclimatize to and recognize. That voice becomes a comforting thread amidst an otherwise chaotic and creatively experimental, industrial soundscape. “Can’t Go Back” is an early highlight, creatively free and spacious yet again, but rhythmic enough to build a sense of togetherness in the room. The simplicity of production continues amidst unique instrumental layers and decidedly original beats. The EP often feels like a poetry slam session, carefully crafted on top of a series of mildly tribal, minimalist musical performances. There’s always a strong beat to connect with, but occasionally, in contrast, you get moments and quiet instances of pure vocal outpouring; whispers and melodies. “Our Rock City” stands out for its louder confidence and that anthem-like rhythm and energy once again. Operation Underground takes full advantage of the opportunity to perform and enjoy themselves, and it shows well. There’s something about the way the project plays out that gives it more of a return-visit vibe than that of a single sitting playlist. There’s an intensity to many of the ideas, not just the lyrics but the emotions, the artistry, the pondering. Moments like “Restless” whisper out to you with mystery and intrigue. You’re reminded of the considerate artists behind all of this. Operation Underground leaves nothing unsaid, and that makes the experience a heavy yet worthy one. It’s also easy to visualize a live performance, the minimalism would work well organically, and your focus would rightfully be on the vocalists. “Conflicting Sides” is a brilliantly refreshing EP that’s all at once distant from the mainstream and still desperate to connect. Check it out here and read more with Operation Underground below! Hey Operation Underground! We're incredibly excited to feature "Conflicting Sides"! It's a genuine and honest EP that we feel the utmost love for. Where did you draw the inspiration from to curate this project? Tha Freek:  We took all the positives after the mad world ep was done being promoted and that was Here We Come and Our Rock City. Magnificent T: We wanted to be more versatile in this project and the name of it is based on how 2 of the songs were more positive, upbeat and energetic. While the other half is more Sad, Dark and negative. The cover was based on visions we came up with. Can you tell us the predominant message behind "Restless"? How did you feel writing/recording the track, and how did you intend your listeners to feel? Tha Freek:  One of the elements of the song is to do what's best for you in your life. Magnificent T:  Restless was a more personal song about things we've been going through and that have been bothering us. For me writing the song and recording it helped get it out but I was mainly depressed when writing and recording it. My bro Tha Freek was write about the message of the song is how “ You gotta do what’s best for you “ No matter what you’re going through you gotta put yourself number one to be happy and successful no matter what it takes. "Here We Come” is an energizing and refreshing new song. Where did you draw inspiration for this particular track? Tha Freek:  The inspiration for me had to do with the fact we were creating our own path and how this is ours and people can't jump on us thinking we will save them. Magnificent T: We were feeling very positive when we created this song and the message on my parts was basically no matter what we're going through or no matter what happens we’re making it and continuing to do us and reach the top. The bridge in the song was pretty much a message to our Doubters/Haters about how people have tried to get in our way and throw us off or make us quit or give up but are message to them is It’s a brand new day and we’re here to stay no matter what. We know that you're a lover of integrating a variety of elements in your music. Would you ever incorporate contrasting genres into your music, or do you think it would ruin the type of sound you're attempting to reach? The Freek: I think if we tried too it would kinda ruin what we are trying to do. Magnificent T:  I agree with Tha Freek on this. We love trying new things in music but we wouldn’t change too much like you gotta feel comfortable and walk a fine line with experimenting and make sure you’re still being yourself at the end of the day. It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you after this EP release? Any shows in the near future?! Tha Freek: We plan on releasing more music after this ep. That is something we are working on. Magnificent T:  We have a lot of exciting things coming. And we really appreciate you guys giving us the opportunity to be on BuzzMusic and are very thankful for it! We definitely look forward to being on BuzzMusic again too. www.instagram.com/operationunderground www.facebook.com/TheOperationUnderground #BuzzMusic

  • Exclusive Interview With Ranwin Le-Roy About His New EP "Mood"

Welcome back to BuzzMusic Ranwin Le-Roy! What inspired you to first begin making music and releasing it to the public? I had to deal with a lot at a very young age and I had to grow up fast. Which left me with a lot of emotions; so I began writing down how I felt which later evolved to writing music. I started writing music since the age of 11. I walked around with a notebook full of Christina Aguilera pictures on the cover. I thought my lyrics, ideas and content would be blessed by her presence. You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into his lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “A Reminder”? This is a really personal story. I had met someone that I really fell hard for. I was hooked, I was so in love. I feel like words could not describe how I felt but my head, heart and guts were all in. So what happens to most people in this lifetime happened to me, I got cheated on. It was the worst feeling I had ever felt but I ended it because there’s nothing worse than prolonging your pain. “A Reminder” was exactly how I felt. After meeting author Adam Alexander Rabinowitz on a flight, we wrote the song from Johannesburg to Dubai. Since you’ve been making music for several years, how would you compare some of the earlier material you’ve written to your newest release “Mood”? I think I’ve become more expressive with my language use. I’ve poured everything I felt into this EP. Every emotion, every fear, every feeling is in this song. Mood is bold, unapologetic, fearless and it’s my truth. Mood is everything I am. Every song is an elevation of whom I’ve become. We’ve been bumping your EP “Mood”! Congratulations on that. What have been some of your proudest or most memorable moments in music so far? I have 3 really incredible moments. Working with Jody Steel and Adam Rabinowitz being 2 of them. “Mood” coming in at #55 on the iTunes chart in South Africa for all albums. How have you honed your songwriting style over time, and what do you think are the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last in the long-run? Don’t hold back! Write how you feel, write your truth and be yourself. Don’t think what Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill or John Legend would do because they already exist. Be yourself! We really appreciate you chatting with us about your incredible music! What’s next for you artistically? Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways? I think all artists are you know artists. Creativity comes naturally in a lot of ways. I’m working on a men’s skincare line. So that’s what’s next and of course music videos which will be later announced. Listen to “STOP (Read The Signs)” here and read more with Beyond Tha Noize in our exclusive interview below! Hey there Beyond Tha Noize! Welcome back to BuzzMusic! “STOP” is category transforming! Tell us how you came to produce this track! Firstly i would like to thankyou this interview i really appreciate it so... cut a long story short the track it originally started out as a remix of another track but evolved into its own standalone track and we decided to search out for original vocals from a certain someone in Los Angeles which we found. We know that your music is known for rooting itself in innovation and a sense of modernity. Where do you search for and/or end up finding your inspiration for such contemporary stylings? We take inspiration from so many different genres both past and present and we take out parts of each song which we are inspired by to create our style of music similar to what a fashion designer does with clothes. Your latest release “STOP” is definitively lively, with such an eclectic, yet modern take on production. How did you intend to connect with your listeners with this particular track?! With this track STOP (Read The Signs) we created a positive uplifting vibe that will hopefully inspire the listeners to live there best life they can and fulfill there dreams and goals in what ever they are passionate about. How do you feel your music would have progressed differently without the predominant inspiration drawing from your Father? How large of an impact do you believe his inspiration had on the overall outcome of your sound? I guess our music has always had a kind of a commercial element to it with alot of vocals which has been inspired from the Early 90s Dance tracks which my father always played out at the clubs and around the house. he was always showing off his new vinyls every morning before and after school so i guess you could say it kind of stuck with me What would you say is the most useful piece of criticism you’ve received thus far within your career? Do you typically take criticism to your advantage? I guess just knowing when a track is done it's done, we keep it in a tight circle of people to be critical towards our music because often in the past when we first started producing we kept tweaking tracks and we would play them to people and they would always say they loved the first version of what we showed them better. It was a treat being able to showcase “STOP” on BuzzMusic! We can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us as listeners! What’s the next goal for you artistically within the music world, now that you’ve just released a new single? Finish off all the other songs we have on the go and a few shows to finish off the year with and then kicking of 2020 with a heap of tours along with a heap of new releases for everyone. www.facebook.com/beyondthanoize www.instagram.com/beyondthanoize #BuzzMusic

  • Catching Up With TIËRNY!

Hey TIËRNY, welcome to BuzzMusic! We're so happy to be showcasing your debut single "Solid Ground" to our listeners. How did you initially get started making music? Thanks so much for having me! I went to stage school and played the piano when I was a child, so the arts had always been a passion of mine, but creating music became the center of my life a few years ago. I was in a dark place and was reading and writing a lot of poetry, and in the midst of the madness, I befriended someone who inspired me greatly and urged me to turn my words into songs. Music saved me in so many ways. You have an extremely unique vocal tone and musical style. Have you had professional training or are your vocals something you've honed over time? For as long as I can remember I’ve always been able to sing, I was the kid on stage waving my arms around singing at the top of my lungs, I guess some things never change! In terms of style I guess I’ve just been inspired by many different genres musically, and that’s reflected in my vocals. For me it’s more about connecting to the song emotionally and expressing how I feel. Your lyrics are completely captivating, raw, and deeply personal. Do you ever worry about divulging too much through your music? Or do you think it's better to remain vulnerable? All my songs are autobiographical and deeply personal, being vulnerable is scary, but I’m sharing my experiences, my thoughts and feelings my point of view, in order to connect with others who may feel the same. It’s incredibly important to be transparent, as a human being and artist, you must live your truth or life becomes futile Tell us about the writing/creative process for your debut single "Solid Ground"? What was it like working with producer James Minas? How did your professional relationship come about? Me and James @Minas met a few years back and have worked together for a long time, he understands my vision and we’re on a similar wave length creatively. I think it’s important to find someone who takes the time to understand you and Just gets it. I was lucky and I honestly wouldn’t be here without him. In terms of process I write the lyrics and chords and then we build up the track together, James actually scored the strings on Solid Ground and they are so beautiful. We're really looking forward to hearing more music from you! What can you tell our readers about your upcoming EP "Revelations"? +Sex love death religion + I’m really looking forward to sharing it!! It’s been a long process, but I didn’t want to rush and compromise my art. It’s a four-track EP, and it’s a mixture of genres, but if I had to sum it up it would be a compilation of modern alt-pop sensibilities and more classical baroque elements. I call it ‘Baroquetronica’. Every song is a different story and that’s emulated in the production. I wanted to create four stand-alone songs that culminated into a body of work that was authentic and I could be proud of You have so much natural talent and clearly a long career ahead of you! What are you most looking forward to in the coming months? I’m releasing another single soon and I Have a few gigs lined up. I recently supported Canadian artist @lydia.ainsworth on her UK tour  And will be supporting @Stealingsheep in December so lots to look forward too! You can follow my socials @iamtiernyb for updates on what’s going on in between but mostly I’ll be working on the second EP  Thanks for the lovely comments and questions it’s been a pleasure! • Zack Gross Is Always Making “Waves” With His New Music!

It’s no surprise that Zack Gross is a gifted piano player. Hailing from Miami, Zack has been playing piano since the age of 5 years old. He completed the piano preparatory program at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, studied classical piano at Rochester, New York’s Eastman School of Music, and graduated from the University of Rochester with a minor in music. Never sticking to one genre, Zack Gross remains versatile with his music, blending classical piano, pop, jazz, blues, and electronic genres into one explosive new sound. At only two minutes long, Zack Gross’ latest release “Waves” needs no more time to make an impact on the listener. With a soulful, almost jazz-inspired piano melody, Zack incorporates his well known surprising electronic additions to create an absolute hit! Staying true to its title, “Waves” moves through a musical journey of ups and downs. Sometimes it’s a purely organic piano, and other times the electronic cadences rain down around the listener, completely enveloping you in the Zack Gross experience. Another perk of “Waves” only being two minutes long, a second and third listen are easy to manage. Groovy enough to sway along to and upbeat enough to get you off your feet, “Waves” is a highly danceable track that we can’t get enough of. Listen to “Waves” here! • Powerhouse Duo Kid Giant Release New Single “This Is Home”

Based in California, Kid Giant is a powerful duo comprised of Johnny Ashby and Carl Thomson. Originally from the UK, the duo formed Kid Giant earlier this year and have swiftly become known for the anthem-like musicianship that touches on themes about achieving the impossible, feeling like an outsider and coming together. Kid Giant’s debut EP is available now and the duo has plans to release a full-length album in 2020! Kid Giant’s new single “This Is Home” features John Waugh of The 1975 and fuses a superb use of melody with a brilliant musical build-up and a multi-layered warmth. The single is quick to embrace listeners and pours through with an incredibly satisfying yet creatively refreshing aura right up to its finish. Complete with stunning flickers of guitar work, thoughtful lyrics, and just enough vocal personality to add further to that inherent sound and style that is quickly becoming known as Kid Giant. I’m happy to throw professionalism out of the window for this one, just turn up the volume, and let the beat and brightness of the music pump you up ready for the weekend. Spectacular songwriting and impeccable musicianship. Here’s hoping we can catch a live show sometime soon. Listen to “This Is Home” here and read more with Kid Giant below in our interview! Welcome to BuzzMusic Kid Giant! What was it like moving from the UK to Los Angeles? Did you move here together? How has it further shaped you as artists? It’s been great! We both met in LA actually! Carl’s been here for about 7 years and I’ve been here for about 5. We knew each other for 2 years before we decided we should write together! We love working together though, it’s so fun! Sometime’s I’ll reference a song or a band and Carl knows what I’m talking about straight away because we were both raised on the same music. Brit-pop mainly, Oasis and all that. Moving to LA has had a funny influence on the music we write though. We both love American pop culture and we’re so inspired by it, but since moving to California I think we are both more drawn to our British roots in the music we write. We absolutely love your latest release! Are you able to explain to our listeners what your main message is in "This Is Home"? Thank you! We really appreciate the support from you guys! I think for us it wasn’t originally a message directly about being “at home” but more of a metaphor for being “in the right place”. A fan of ours sent us a video of their kid rocking out with an air guitar to one of our songs and it sparked something creatively for us. I did the same thing so many times as a kid in front of the mirror, I think everyone has! We have so many dreams and aspirations of where we want to go and who we want to be and sometimes those dreams can get lost when you get older. Sometimes they can seem so far out of reach. When we’re kids we have the whole world at our feet and anything is possible. With This is Home, it’s a reminder to be happy at the moment and to trust that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, sometimes we forget that. As a collective that incorporates a variety of alternative elements into your music, would you ever feel comfortable blending in elements from contrasting genres that you've never worked with before? Yes absolutely. I mean on This is Home initially we were both a bit skeptical about introducing the saxophone part but it worked, better than we thought it would! There are other songs where we’ve stepped out of our depth into unknown waters creatively, but that’s a good thing. It feels good to challenge ourselves and to move out of our comfort zone. Sometimes it doesn’t work but when it does it feels so much more rewarding. What would you say is the most useful piece of criticism you’ve received thus far within your career? Do you typically take criticism to your advantage? Sure. We’ve had a lot of criticism but we’ve also had a lot of people saying that what we’re doing is really good. It’s important to listen to other people's opinions but I don’t know if creatively we would change what we’re doing for someone else just because they don’t like it. You’re either going to like what we’re doing or you won’t. But that’s what art is, it’s supposed to get people talking and it’s impossible to get everyone to like it. Thank you so much for chatting with us! We're highly anticipating your upcoming album release! What can you tell us about it!? Do you have an official release date? Well you guys will be the first to know… we won’t be releasing everything as an album. We’re actually going to be releasing the album as a series of singles instead. We want to release one single every month until there’s none left! When they’re all out I think we’d both like to release a special edition with some live recordings and outtakes though. For the sake of being nostalgic we’d like to do a vinyl pack and a cassette too! This is Home comes out October 4th and the next single after that is called California Dreams and comes out November 1st. We’re just really excited and we can’t wait, we’re so happy with them. www.instagram.com/wearekidgiant Photo by: @jovannareyes #BuzzMusic
