- Get Lost In The Emotion Of “HIGH TIDE.” By KAY.
KAY. is a 25-year-old rap & alternative artist, born in Bratislava, Slovakia, who is currently living in Miami, Florida. KAY. began his music career at the young age of 17 when he first picked up a guitar. After playing in various metal, rock, and punk bands, KAY. introduced himself to rap and hip-hop music. He strives to create rap music with a grunge/punk edge. Some of his main artist inspirations include Nirvana, Bush, Blink 182, G-Eazy, Lil Peep, and Jez Dior. “HIGH TIDE.” is a new song by KAY. that we’ve fallen in love with at BuzzMusic. The hip-hop/trap beat is layered with KAY’s vocalism. His voice is raspy and original, with underlying elements of emotion and truth. The structure of “HIGH TIDE.” definitely has moments that take the listener to the early 2000’s punk tracks that resonate with us so fondly. The simple guitar riff that kicks off and ends “HIGH TIDE.” really adds an element of simplicity and beauty to this well-rounded and finely-calibrated track. KAY. makes music that his listeners and fans can turn on and escape to while managing to create unique contemporary music. “HIGH TIDE.” is the perfect example of what KAY’s abilities as an artist are and we can’t wait to hear more. Check out “HIGH TIDE.” here and read more in our exclusive interview with KAY. Hey KAY.! Welcome to BuzzMusic. We were vibing with your track “HIGH TIDE.” What does this song represent for you? This song represents a new sound in my music. It's only recently that I have been getting more comfortable with my singing in my songs, and I wanted to explore that further, also by creating a song, that feels good and fresh, but also talks about real topics and shows parts of my life. The song is a struggle between finding yourself and what you really want in life, and expresses how hard it is getting over someone, who you have been with, and it shows the dark and bright sides of it in the song, both in lyrics and its sound. What has been one of your most memorable or life-changing achievements as an artist so far? Definitely deciding to start making music and actually releasing it and showing it to the world. Music has always been something like therapy for me, something that I do when I want to escape whatever is happening around me, something that sets my mind free of the bad things. I have been into music for quite a while, both in bands - vocals or guitar, but also as a solo artist, but I have only decided to release my music out to the world around three years ago. My biggest achievement is definitely being able to do that and get my music to the level that it is today. What are your thoughts on mainstream hip-hop at present, and your hopes for the genre going forward? I grew up on rock, punk and metal music as a kid and all throughout my teen years, but I love hip hop music! I started listening to rap and hip hop more around the age of 18-19 (I'm currently 25) and have been obsessed with it since. I definitely see a lot of future in hip hop, especially as I see with the 90s style coming back and a lot of artists adding unique sounds to their music (artists like Lil Peep, XXXTentacion, Juice Wrld, Aries and Jez Dior), which I think is pretty cool and it's definitely going to diversify hip hop as a genre. How important is it to tell your own unique and honest story in hip-hop? It definitely is important. I think music is about self expression, and a way to connect with people is to share parts of your life and who you are as a person and as an artist, as well as the things you go through in your life and its struggles. If you tell a genuine story, people will connect with it. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in the music industry? I learned that music is pretty much about self-exploration, exploring yourself as a person, who you are, and also as an artist. Music has changed me so much, taught me a lot throughout the years and made me the person I am today, and I am grateful for that. I found out that in music, you should be honest and real with your listeners, because that is the only way that they will really connect with you. Therefore, my music and lyrics are always pretty personal, revolving around my life, relationships and experiences I go through. I'm releasing my debut album "Wake me up when it's all over." soon (16 songs), that are all really personal and I talk about my past 3 years, how I grew as a person and all the heartbreak and struggles that I had to go through on the way. - JD Leonard Is Making Waves In Contemporary Country-Rock Music With “Just Drive”
A long-established "go-to" songwriter, JD is quickly tearing into the American country music landscape. Combining ultra-sleek showmanship, genre-crossing arrangements, and hauntingly familiar hooks, Leonard is country/rock in both it's purest dose and it's untapped potential. His songs are a passenger on the road to the human experience. Tennessee born and Carolina raised, JD's "work-hard" roots have driven him to become a fixture of NYC and Music City camps, alike. It's this geographic, chopped and diced blend of culture that creates JD's distinctive sound. Fever dream guitars and raw vocals. Lush melodies and memory inducing lyrics. It's a sound that you already know...like you've never heard before. “Just Drive” is a quickly memorable song that JD has clearly taken his time with when crafting it. The whole thing builds up slowly and surely, the style is immediately both familiar and unusual. This classical backdrop, arranged in an unpredictable manner, moving from the smooth, longer notes, to the quick and dramatic. The song has a classic, comforting country or folk aura to it while the lyrics, the melody, even the male vocal at the forefront of the sound fall in line with the vibe of a classic song. Good writing, from a place of genuine emotion and depth, fused with an uncommon musicality, makes this an interesting and quickly memorable, single. Though the topic is clearly personal and unique in story-line to the songwriters, it’s presented here in a somewhat vague, widely accessible manner. “Just Drive” is a welcomed, organic ballad that’s been gorgeously performed and capture. Stream JD's new song "Just Drive". Hey JD! Congrats on the release of your new project “Just Drive the Album”! What does this album represent for you? Thank you so much! This album represents 10 years of life. Easy living and hard living. Blood and sweat, love and heartache, loss and chasing dreams. It’s a collection of experiences that we all go through. It’s my heart and soul. Where is the best setting to listen to the single “Just Drive”, and what do you hope people take away from it? Ha! The best setting to listen to Just Drive is LIVE of course!! But if you can’t make it to a show, the second best way I’d say would be as loud as the car stereo can go with the windows down. What’s your favorite lyric that you feel has the most impact in “Just Drive”? Why? “Maybe it’s the moonshine. Maybe it’s the sunrise. Maybe it’s just you and me.” My favorite lyrics are clever and with double meaning and I think those lines say a lot more than what’s just on the surface. If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound, which song would you choose and why? Hmmm...that’s a tough one. Gone are the days when being eclectic was thought to be artistic in a mainstream platform. My influences are all over the place so I think the best representation of who I am as an artist can only be experienced live with my band. We leave it all out on the stage every night and all our influences shine through live. Do you have any upcoming events or shows you’d like to talk about? What’s next for you through the end of 2019? I do! We have several shows in the NY and surrounding areas through the end of the year including a headlining show at the legendary, “My Father’s Place” in Roslyn, NY. Check out all the latest news, tour dates and updates on my website and social media. We can’t wait to see y’all there! - King Bap Is Dripping In “Chanel” In His Latest Banger
King Bap was an orphan from the Midwest his entire childhood, foster care gave him a true sense of ambition and humility, two virtues that could never be bought. His priceless upbringing can be heard in his music as he tells the tales of a true young savage. Now King Bap is opening for Playboi Carti and has just released an EP titled “Academic Probation” with his featured song: “Chanel” which can be found on all streaming platforms. With a smooth and infectious melody, this anthem “Chanel” has a hook that will ring through your head until you press that repeat button. Full of clarity and truth, King Bap’s lyrics are a refreshing addition to the music industry today. Bap is unapologetic and authentically honest. The rawness that’s in every punchline is unpredictable yet consistent. “Chanel” gives a confident and edgy appeal to the artistry while staying true to the hip-hop roots that founded the culture of rap. King Bap’s lyricism and flow are addicting and smooth, while the backbeats are vibrant and classic. He writes relatable rhymes while remaining true to himself and his message. He floats melodically on the verses and hook to create the ultimate hip-hop anthem. "Chanel" will have everyone feeling ready to take on the rest of 2019. Listen to “Chanel” here and keep scrolling for more with King Bap! What can you tell us about your project “Academic Probation”? I named it academic probation because that’s the reason i dropped out and came to California. In college I never felt involved. I wasn’t interested at all. I was just using the scholarship money to get a place when I got out of jail. Every semester I was on academic probation before I just said f**k it. I’m going to do something I really want to do. And imma profit off of it. So that’s why I named my first project that. The songs I selected for the Tape are all songs that would People a feel for my personality and all the layers that make up Bap. I’m still finding my sound. But these are the songs I had the most fun making. Talisman is my favorite track. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? A good time. Some positive energy. I never wanted to make depressing or like “serious” rap. I want people to forget about their struggles when they’re listening to BAP. I hope to make you laugh or at least wanna hear a certain line again. What is it about making music that draws such passion from you? I bleed music like I would honesty go insane deprived from music. It brings me to a peaceful place in my psyche and I appreciate any artist that can take me into their song and away from the daily struggles. I wanna be able to do that for people. I wanna be an escape. What’s next for King Bap? World Domination. I’m starting a cult sometime around next spring after my next project drops. I’m looking to take on the adult film industry but I’m only doing solo scenes. Me and my team have been thinking about joint the very lucrative Coldstone Creamery™️ Franchise. - Clone Hero Prove Real Rock Never Dies With “Plague”
Clone Hero is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles comprised of Rich Lopez (guitars/vocals), Dylan Barrie (bass), and Dan Carrigan (drums). Their debut EP "Inamorata" is an homage to guitar-driven, rhythm fueled, 90’s-inspired grunge/alternative rock in the likes of Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Filter. They are currently at work on their as of yet unnamed follow up EP due out in late 2019! “Plague” is a stunner, brilliantly showcasing a powerful rise up from delicacy to weight, reinforcing the band’s ability to utilize contrast and express the emotions related to an experience in a deeply artistic and genuine way. This is categorically a song to be experienced at volume. The journey home, the late-night drive, the isolated escapism that envelops us in times of turmoil. There’s great comfort in hearing Clone Hero scream out on your behalf, and doing so in such a melodic and beautiful way. “Plague” feels like the kind of alternative anthem that deep thinkers would have obsessed over not too long ago. Clone Hero is a superb band, impressing more and more so with each new move they make. Stay on the lookout for their new EP, coming soon! Check out “Plague” here and read more with Clone Hero below! Hey Clone Hero! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourselves and what role you play in the group? Thanks for having us! My name is Rich Lopez and I assume guitar and vocal duties in the band, I also write the majority of the music. How did Clone Hero come to fruition? What's the meaning behind your stage name? The three of us met while working at a video game studio in Santa Monica, although not right away. The way we ended up together as a band is I had heard before Dan transferred to my department that he played drums, so on his first day while out at lunch I asked him if he wanted to jam sometime as we were into some of the same alternative rock bands like Fuel and Chevelle, and we lived relatively close to each other. At first, we were just a two-piece playing at this hourly rehearsal space in Culver City where we came up with "Autopilot", then moved into a lockout in West LA where the other three songs were completed. Later that year we recorded those tracks at Foreword studios in LA with our friend and producer Duane Ramos. After the EP was finished recording we decided we wanted to take the songs to the stage but we still didn't have a bass player - Duane had provided bass on the EP. I put out a post on social media looking for someone to fill the role. It just so happened that Dylan (who worked in another department) played bass. The name originated somewhere in-between. Long story short, it's the combination of two things; "clone" from my Small Clone pedal that Dan blew out the fuse on, and "hero" from my then-obsession with screen used movie props. We had no idea at the time there was a bootleg video game with the same name. We loved your track “Plague”. Can you dive into more details about the meaning of the lyrics? What do you hope your listeners take away from it? Thanks! that's the one that people tend to gravitate towards most. I wrote "Plague" my senior year in high school. There was no preconception to include it in the long run, it was initially just to have something to play during practices, but it fit within the context of the other songs and it had gone through some revisions. Musically, it was intended to be my homage to the bands that influenced me. Lyrically, it's about avoiding toxic people and the observations of their behaviors, hence the chorus "I don't like the way you show your face, I don't like the way you share your plague". It's about me being an onlooker and resisting the exposure to people I thought were toxic. Even written as a teenager those ideas still extend into my adult life, oddly enough. I think given the social climate we live in today and the desire for material gain many people could relate. What’s your writing process like as a group? When there's a new idea for a song, I will typically record a rough demo version at home on an 8-track with a drum machine and a couple of layers of guitar and bass and come up with the foundation for the song. I'll share that demo with them and leave them to take their own liberations with it. More often than not though, the song will get fleshed out over the course of some rehearsal sessions until we all give the (unspoken) nod of approval. The length of the process can vary, though. We have a new song that'll be on the next EP called "Hunting Ghosts" that took about a month to finish after the demo stage because we couldn't decide on a proper bridge so it just depends on the demands of the song and how well it sits with the three of us by the end of it. I try to promote a democratic approach to songwriting so that everyone can artistically contribute. What’s your stage presence like? Well, the booze tends to help, haha. I used to have a pre-show ritual that consisted of two shots of tequila and a Budweiser just to calm the nerves otherwise I'm just a shoegazer on stage. These days I have to constantly remind myself once we're up not to be so serious and just have fun with it. As long as I keep that in mind and not worry about screwing up or forgetting lyrics, I can allow myself to be in the zone and be animated and talk to the crowd between songs. It's really just about having fun and going with the vibe when it comes down to it. Connect with Clone Hero on social media: www.instagram.com/clone_hero www.facebook.com/cloneheroband #BuzzMusic

Nice to have you here on BuzzMusic! Can you start off by telling our readers what you hoped to accomplish with your latest track "It's Not Over"?! What I hoped to accomplish with this single is letting people know not to give up and to keep fight for what they’re passionate about. This single is to encourage those who are on the fence about giving up. What would you say is the most integral take-home message from "It's Not Over"? The important message in this song is thinking that you can do everything on your own and I found out the hard way that you can’t. You definitely need help with others and most importantly God. Specially if you know it’s hurting you and your family. This song is to encourage people to know that they are not alone. If someone could only listen to one of your tracks, what track would you suggest that fully encompasses the essence of your music? The track that I would suggest to them is called “I Am Alive”. This track talks about how I felt dead in this world and how there is more to life than just waking up, going to work and partying. To find out that I have a purpose in this world and to be someone great to spread a great message is eye opening. Can you describe the connection you feel that you have with music, and how it has shaped your life thus far? The connection I have with music has been amazing. To meet new people and to hear their story’s on how my songs and lyrics has changed their life is something that puts a smile on my face and knowing that God is pleased. Most people want music that they can relate to, have great quality, have a great beat and that is my goal. Are you able to tell our readers what it is you hope to accomplish within the next few months, musically? The next few months I plan on releasing more singles and hopefully a EP later this year. I would definitely say to take some time out to check out my music you won’t be disappointed. - BuzzMusic Exclusive: A Night With Claudio Ferrone
Hey Claudio welcome back to BuzzMusic! What can you tell us about your brand new EP? Thanks! My new EP is comprised of 3 songs representing different stages of a party. Work it is a lovely mood setting piano track that is being included in the Stereophonic Records ADE sampler album (link: https://soundcloud.com/stereophonic/sets/stph156-aavv-stereophonic-amsterdam-2019-ade-sampler-stereophonic). Oiemi continues the mood creation at as a wonderful mid-set track with catchy vocals to get people grooving. The EP concludes with the late night track aptly called “All Night” with it’s driving bassline and deep vocals. What was it like spinning at Minus 80 Bar in Dalt Vila, Ibiza? It was a dream come true for the simple fact that it was my first experience DJing in Ibiza and internationally. A small intimate venue, I stumbled across it whilst exploring Dalt Vila during the International Music Summit and was welcomed openly by very kind ownership. While a short set, it was a fun one and was a great ice-breaker for me and my emerging DJ career. What can you tell us about the Amsterdam Dance Event 2019 and your involvement? The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is a five-day electronic music conference and festival held annually in mid-October. ... The shows attract over 350,000 people from all over the world to the city, making Amsterdam one of the busiest clubbing cities in the world. I am very fortunate to be included in the lineup of the Italian record label Stereophonic Records who will be hosting a showcase of their DJs and artists on October 16th at the Tara in Amsterdam. They have also included my track “work it” in their sampler compilation. I will be attending the conference and aiming to spin a killer set so that I can get noticed. : ) If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound, which song would you choose and why? “Music is the Answer” Mike Vale. Music has been a part of my life for so long and it really defines me. I can express every mood, feeling and sensation and this song is a reminder to me. The vocals reach deep down and when the bass hits, it just lifts my spirits high. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? I try to make my tracks and podcasts as versatile as possible to be enjoyed in the gym to the club (I’m a fan of listening to my music in the car whilst driving). Ideally, the club is the best place as the bassline move right through you. I hope people can take away my passion and love of the music in the tracks. I hope they feel the groovy sensations of Oiemi, the uplifting pianos of Work It and that push to really go all night. What do you hope to achieve as an artist through the end of 2019? As an artist, my goal is to get better at translating my thoughts into music, to keep learning new techniques, to fearlessly experiment and to build my audience for my podcast and my music. - Exclusive Interview With Cincinnati Singer-Songwriter M.Lowe
Hey M.Lowe! We're loving your new track "Stmwtd"! What inspired this song? This song is about pressure I was facing from my parents and girlfriend at the time I wrote it. What emotions did you channel when creating it? The main emotions I channeled when writing this song were frustration and fear (of disappointing those people close to me). What lyrics do you think hold the most impact throughout "Stmwtd"? Why? “Sorry I complain too much, but I didn’t choose to get screwed up” is the most important line in this song. I had really rough relationships with the people closest to me at the time I wrote this song because of a bunch of things that were out of my control. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? I’ve heard from a handful of people that my music is perfect for driving home late at night by yourself. I think that’s really cool and I agree with that because most of my music is calm, slow, and reflective. What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? As an artist all I hope for myself is to be able to continue with music as my full time career. Connect with M.Lowe on Instagram. Listen to "Stmwtd" on Spotify. #BuzzMusic
