- Yung Chapp Releases The Story Of Heartbreak In “Kansas”
Yung Chapp is a young rapper who always had the love and passion for music. Listening to a significant amount of artists growing up, hip-hop & rap has always been something he loved. When he was in elementary, he used to write poetry then later on when he transitioned into high-school he experienced some hard times and discovered how writing music truly helped him. This led to him transitioning into the genre of rap, and he’s hoping to give it everything he gots! Yung Chapp released the single titled “Kansas” and this emotional record is about the sad truth that comes with heartbreak and being in love. What once may have felt like you were in the land of Oz, just quickly threw you back into the reality of things. “Kansas” has a strong lyrical presence to cover this meaning. The beauty of rap is the multiple variations you can go while still remaining the entertaining factor of it all. While listening to “Kansas” you grasp the idea that Yung Chapp is possibly more of a lyrical rapper, rather than a “Trap rapper”. However, the way he executes his flow and the strength in his delivery, we’re sure he would make a powerhouse in all sub-genres of rap. “Kansas” was a nice, relaxed vibe where you can find truth within the verses. We loved the comforting aesthetic it gave us, with a nice energetic vibration. Listen to "Kansas" here and get to know more about Yung Chapp in our interview below! Welcome To BuzzMusic Yung Chapp! Growing up, who were the main rappers you recalled yourself listening to? Were they your influences, and if not who are a few of your musical inspirations? When I was growing up I mainly listed to Eminem. Thanks to my brother and my parents I listen to a whole bunch of different music growing up. I got intro rap a little later but Eminem was my first experience really with it all, and slowly but surely as I grew up I fell in love with it all and listened to way more artists, new school and old. When it comes to my influences, those actually come from "newer" artists, such as logic, J.cole, and Ski mask the slump god. Their music really helped me find a lot for me to do it myself & have fun with it. You’re super poetic in the way you spit! Would you say your history in writing poetry benefitted this? How would you describe your songwriting approach to us? Thank you, I definitely do think my history with writing did benefit me, but not just because I thought I was really good or anything, but I was able to find something I really liked. When it comes to my ding writing process it's a little bit all over the place to be completely honest. I'm always learning and improving and it's quite hard to actually break down my whole process unfortunately. Let’s talk about “Kansas” ! you stated this song was about the reality of a heartbreak. As relatable as this is, in what ways were you able to personally connect with the meaning of this song? When it comes to Kansas, my story with it was just about my first experience with love really. I've been through heartbreaks before and been down before but, when you're madly in love it's almost like a second half of you is missing when it ends. Even though things are over and done with this person was still a huge part of my life, and messed me up in a lot of different ways, good and bad. Kansas is just the half way point of it all, just in shock but trying to push forward from it all. Glad it happened but in the end it just hurt, back in Kansas. What were some obstacles you face in the creation of this record? I didn't face too many obstacles in the process of making the song, it was more therapeutic than anything. The only obstacle I actually faced was putting the song out, because it's probably my most personal song out so far. So it was just a bit nerve wracking kind of wrapping my head around it all. What’s next for you Yung Chapp? More songs of course! I only plan on going up from here. I hope to be doing shows soon and releasing a lot more music. in fact I plan on dropping tracks in June, July, August & September. A whole lot more is definitely on the way, and I don't plan on slowing down or giving up anytime soon! Connect with Yung Chapp on social media: www.instagram.com/yungchappy #BuzzMusic
- Take A Chance With New Music And Check Out Lottery And His New Rap Hit “Wolf”
Lottery life has been driven by chance. He came from a rough upbringing and background that included a run-down trailer park in upstate New York and family cycling through needles and jail cells. The music carried Lottery through a short childhood and he put it on the shelf in order to stay on top of bills. His life finally got a little bit more stable, he moved to Raleigh North Carolina, dived right back in, and fully transitioned himself into the artist known as “Lottery”. Lottery put his first single out in 2017. He takes inspirations from artists ranging from Whitney Houston and Tribe Called Quest to J. Cole and Eminem. The death of one of his many idols Mac Miller, inspired Lottery to kick it into overdrive and start planning bigger, thus resulting in the release of his album. Nipsey Hussle’s death gave Lottery the drive he needed to give the genre its justice. Although his streams may currently be low, the amount of support he receives from fans is phenomenal and it pushes him to excel past greater heights. Lottery released his single titled “Wolf” and we’re almost positive he will do this genre complete justice. His flow and delivery were insane. The way he lyrically spits is just unbelievably compelling. There’s a huge gap in the music industry right now for a rapper like Lottery. Someone with a story to tell but a talent to match. He creates lyrical substance in his music while remaining appealing to the mainstream lovers of hip-hop. The beat has a nice trap feel to it, presented in the hard-hitting bass. Lottery shows multiple transitions through his verses and delivery. He doesn’t stick to one flow or even tempo. His sonically produced voice is translatable across the genre of rap. Lottery raps like he KNOWS he’s talented and that’s remarkable. The cocky atmosphere around his delivery is great for adding attitude to his music. “Wolf” was a nice song that reminded me of a song many of the rap greats would make. Lottery is going to fill the missing piece of the puzzle, and we’re excited to witness the greatness unfold. Listen to "Wolf" here and get to know more about Lottery in our interview below! Thank you for sharing your story with us Lottery! In what ways have your background and growing environment impacted your artistry today? Well, there’s a lot of story there. Number one, I guess, comes down to money. I grew up in a poor trailer park in a rich area of New York. I never had much, and to be honest, I still don’t. Other kids got Audi’s in high school, I got dropped off to a dirt lot by public transit. After I moved to North Carolina, I spent a lot of time dodging evictions, had a repo on my car, I was literally scrambling to stay afloat. I slept on couches, bummed rides and food, hit sidewalk for hours just to get to the ATM in time to pay a bill. I think it’s pretty clear in my songs that I’m craving a better way of life. I don’t need to be rich, but I’m sure as hell sick of being broke. Enough is enough, time for me to break the cycle, or die trying to get there. We noticed your super cool stage name “Lottery”. Does this represent the many chances you’ve taken in your lifetime? Mind explaining the context behind the wavy name? Of course, it does represent chance on the surface. I mean, I spent time with people who have overdosed right next to me. It coulda been me instead, you know? So yeah, it does represent a little bit of chance. But really, I lost so often that it started to feel like life was a lottery, and I kept getting losing tickets. What better way to bite back than creating my own winning ticket? And then naming it, myself, after the analogy that brought me here? I don’t think there’s any. What was the meaning behind your song “Wolf”? Well, I really wanted to do something with a Japanese vibe. So, I made the track, and kept that vibe as a reference point for some of my lyrics. What I’m talking about, though, is kinda what I got at in the other questions. I’m “sick of the ditch that I’m in… I gotta hustle for Hussle, and Mac, and all of the idols that been.” So basically, it’s about how I have to carry on, the reasons why, how I don’t have much but I’ve gotta change that. There’s some deeper layers in there, and in my opinion, a catchy af hook. But put simply, I’m hungry like the wolf. Shout out to Duran Duran. In what ways have you elevated your sound since your first release? Many. Many, many, many. My first release used a pre-processed apple loop and some stock drum sounds, I didn’t really know what I was doing with a microphone, and I feel the performance of it could have been stronger. But, it’s a first release. I could go back and fix it at any time, but I’d rather look forward. In comparison, when I was putting Wolf together, I found a great sample, pitched it and EQ-ed a bit, layered in some drums, put the works into production, recorded it just how I wanted, and polished it for hours. I truly don’t think you see the same artist when looking at the tracks together. But that’s just the technical side of things. Stylistically, I pick things up all the time. I might listen to a new Earth Gang song, fall in love with a particular flow, and try to modify it or create something entirely new. Or I might throw on an older record and hear a sound that I just have to have. Really, it’s like a puzzle that’s always getting new pieces. Right now, I’m feeling the Japanese stuff. Who knows what direction I might find next? What’s next for you, Lottery? I have a bunch of plans, some of them I’m waiting on some more traction for, some are coming very soon. Like, I have a couple of album ideas fledged out with songs already attached to them. Still, I’d rather have some better means and connections before finishing them to truly make them something special. Currently, I’m working on a mixtape, the one that Wolf’s on, and I’m spending the year to try to make it the best I possibly can while making sure it resonates with the hip-hop community. In between then and now, I’ve got some throwaway singles planned for the fans to vibe with and maybe even gain a few more before the tape drops. I’m also launching my website and refining my brand a bit, that’s just around the corner. I’m working on shows and physicals, and eventually merch. Aside from all of that, I’ll just be hitting my day job until I earn enough from my music to quit it, and then we’ll see where things go. I mean, after all, it’s the music above all else. If I can afford to live from doing what I love, what’s to lose? Connect with Lottery on social media: Twitter - www.twitter.com/Lottery_MSK Instagram - www.instagram.com/lottery_msk #BuzzMusic

Can you tell us about the meaning behind “Watch Me As I Go”? What inspired it? “Watch Me As I Go” is about putting yourself first, prioritizing yourself over a relationship because either you aren’t getting out what you put in, or you simply just need to focus on yourself for a while. It’s also about emotional strain in a relationship which can only be fixed by time apart to understand what it really is that you want. Did you ever take vocal lessons or were you just naturally gifted? I’ve always loved to sing for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I was obsessed with Disney and would singalong to the songs everyday. I’ve had coaching by various different people growing up but ultimately I would say it’s about doing it a lot and learning as you go. What artists inspire you? Why? Artists that inspire me are Ariana Grande and Charlie Puth because they’re both insanely talented at what they do, they never limit themselves and continue to be role models for many people. What are some challenges you’ve faced in the music industry? How have you overcome them? A challenge for me that I’ve gotten a lot better at is facing rejection, at the end of the day no matter what you do, not everyone is going to like you or the music you bring out and you’ve just got to remember that as long as you like what you’re doing and have the motivation and drive to keep going with it then no opinion is going to stop you. Is this single the start of a new album? This single is the start of many more things to come, all updates will be on my social media - @lydiasingerhq on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. #BuzzMusic

What up doe Buzz music people! I am H.B.R, 1 ½ of Players Stackin Paper. Pullin up from the Motor City! Lol I started rapping around the age of 13 as a way to pass time and stay out of trouble. I'd write songs with my boys here and there, but wasn't too serious until a few years ago. Making music is a form of stress relief for me. Whenever it feels like life's too much, I find solace in music. Why did you choose to go solo? Honestly, I haven't gone solo. My guy J.G.M had to focus on graduating from college, so we hadn't made any music since our debut "The Difference" early last year. A good friend of mine kept telling me to make some songs and stop waiting around, so I took the good advice and put out a short E.P titled "Up to Somthin" back in May. So far so good We love your track “Every Way”! What was the writing process like? I just heard the beat and was immediately inspired! It was one of the easiest songs I've written. Think it took about 20 minutes 1st verse and the chorus. Initially another rapper was going to be featured, but that fell through. I hit my older brother Jae Fuego up on FB and asked him to be on it with me, sent him the beat and song concept, 30 minutes later he had a verse. It was crazy how easily it came together. What artists do you look to for inspiration? I draw inspiration from a myriad of artists in many different genres, success levels and status. From Al Green to Blade Icewood, Fleetwood Mac to Royce Da 5'9", Maroon 5, Chris Brown, 50cent and local artists, I'm inspired by music in its entirety. If you could perform at any venue in the world, where would you choose? I'll show extreme bias with this answer and say Little Caesars Arena. Just to rep my city! - John Bryan’s “Saved By Thorns” Will Have You Feeling Grateful
John Bryan is an expansive hip-hop artist born and raised in the Bronx, New York. He creates music that he hopes will touch people on a personal level. Not without his own struggles, John Bryan didn’t have a great relationship with his parents growing up and looked to other sources for comfort and safely. He became entrenched in his own struggles until he found God, who showed him grace, love and mercy. John Bryan makes music for change, not dollars. John Bryan’s single “Saved By Thorns” is about exactly what the title insists. John was saved by God when he was at his lowest. This realization has changed his life for the better as he is reminded everyday that Jesus loves him. “Saved By Thorns” featured highly addicting instrumentals, a melodic hip-hop beat and John Bryan’s killer verses. He speaks his truth and his authenticity shines through. Raw and emotive, John Bryan describes his important relationship with God. After going through what John went though, it’s extremely admirable for him to share his vulnerable story with other in an effort to make a difference. Bravo, John Bryan! Stay on the lookout for the inspirational and ambitious John Bryan. Check out “Saved By Thorns” here and read more in our exclusive interview below! Can you tell us how you first got started with music? I always loved music since a baby. My Dad actually taught me my first rhymes. I really came around to music more heavily when I was in middle school. It was a hard time for me because my mom and Dad split. My outlet was my headphones. You could barely catch me without them. I started writing seriously at 17 after I established a relationship with Jesus. And I’ve been developing as a musician and an artist since. I would say I’ve been developing more as a musician within the past 2 years. You're a talented singer/songwriter! Do you play any instruments as well? Yes! I play drums. Drums are my first instrument. I started playing at 13 however never owned a kit so practicing was challenging. I learned some basic stuff on piano maybe 5 years ago and have been trying to challenge myself more with that instrument. Can you tell us more about the meaning behind “Saved By Thorns”? I’ve been in recovery for an addiction to pornography since I was 13. In recovery we recite the serenity prayer every meeting. In one of those lines it states, “enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace.” I’ve been through a lot in life. And I see my life’s wounds and scars as thorns in my flesh. God has been steadily working me through a deeper level of self awareness and I’ve concluded that peace does not come from avoiding pain. Rather peace comes through embracing pain head on and allowing the process of healing to start. Jesus himself had to suffer His thorns. The suffering he bore was for our spiritual peace. So when I engage my pain and trauma I don’t have to be afraid of it. What I’ve done to people is forgiven. What people have done to me is forgiven. The blood covers it all. But as I journey inwardly, into my soul, I’ve learned I’ve allowed so many past hurts to fester. My way of dealing with my pain was akin to the fig leaves Adam and Eve covered themself with. They hid their physical shame but internally they were still filled and riddled with shame. They were no longer naked but they decided to hide their shame the best they knew how. This song is about looking at my shortcomings, dissatisfaction, depression, anxiety financial stress, my attempt to control God By bartering my focus on him, looking at my shame, looking at where shame was covered, the cross of Christ, and accepting that pain as the anchor to my soul in my internal wrestle. Who are your biggest musical influences? Why? Growing up I loved Eminem. As I grew older I became huge Jay-Z fan. But I loved rock music too. For example Linkin Park, Disturbed and others. These artist helped me emote and deal with frustration and block out the world. After my renewed faith I became heavily influenced by Christian Rap, Gospel music and Christian contemporary. early on I listened to guys like Flame and Lecrae and then got into an artist named Swoope. They were the replacement for the other music I used to demonized. These days I have many musical influences. Some Christian and some not. As far as rappers, I love J Cole, Kendrick, Chance, Eshon Burgundy and a few others. But musically I am really widely influenced, jazz, fusion Jazz, Indie. I really enjoy this band Snarky puppy. These days I listen to what can better me as an artist and a person in some way. What are some challenges you’ve faced as an artist? How have you overcome those challenges? One of my biggest challenges is not believing that my using matters because it’s not good enough. I then feel like I have little value. What helps me with this is processing this feeling further. I’ve narrowed down that I feel this way about my music at times because I feel this way about myself. This struggle also comes on the heels of a lot of rejection, doubt and fear of unknowns. I never met my biological Father and my adopted Father kicked me out at 18 for not taking his side in a feud between my Mom and him. He actually missed my High School and College graduations and my wedding. We aren’t on good terms right now because of how vocal I am about my past hurts. I had a traumatic experience at 14 working at a Summer Camp. My mother moved to Florida while I was in New York working at a Camp but she never told me we were moving. I’m overcoming these challenges by walking through my baggage. Making these songs help me release these moments of pain and they free me up a bunch. I also know that if people hear they’ll likely be moved to a measure of freedom. Knowing that my life’s hurts are not only used for my own good to keep me grounded and humble, but also the good of others helps me stay motivated to keep making music as God has called me to. All in all my music is a call not just a hobby and I know the impact it can make. I overcome these obstacles by continuing in recovery group, staying accountable to close friends and family, journaling, and reminding myself two really big things, God loves me fully just the way I am and That I matter to Him. - Anubis Talks Real Life In “Chopped Heads”
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Anubis comes launching into the hip-hop industry with his explosive and genre bending style. Anubis’ cultivates a unique flow and rap style that sets him apart in today’s mainstream music scene. A talented producer and lyricist, Anubis has had his music featured on radio stations, streaming platforms and various underground music blogs. Through his music, Anubis speaks the truth about growing up in rough areas and spit rhymes about real life. “Chopped Heads” by Anubis was released early March 2019 and we’re bumping it on repeat. He showcases his alluring Atlanta grit and fuses it flawlessly with a heavy, dark, hard hitting beat. Anubis has an eclectic and poetic flow, with a hard rasp in his voice that sets him apart. His overall sound reminds me of the notable Kendrick Lamar but with Anubis’ own spin on it. In “Chopped Heads”, Anubis spits bars about real life, and not caring about being criticized or judged. Growing up in a rougher part of Atlanta, Anubis says he had to see some bad things and do some bad things to survive. Luckily through music, he was able to take a step back and see that he was part of the problem. He now speaks his truth, through experience, about problems that plague communities. I highly recommend you check out this up and comer, Anubis! Listen to “Chopped Heads” here and read more below in our interview! Hi Anubis! Can you start by introducing yourself to our readers? Yeah Sure , Im an underground artist and producer. Born in North Carolina, at age eight my family and I moved to Atlanta, Ga. Everything went down hill after that and It all contributed to my personality and music. My life is pretty much music and outside of that im a "rootworker". How did you get started in music? What age were you? So my Father Charles Rorie was a local Dj in North Carolina made music since I was a child, boombap was all I was surrounded by or whats considered old school. I was around twelve I started writing about poverty, struggling, and my environment. What’s your writing process like? First I would produce a track based off my mood. I never pre plan what it would sound like I just let what come out to just be. Based off that track I will listen to it and start to write and pretty much let subconscious take over. A lot of songs I've made, I would listen to it and pick up on topics I didnt even know to much about. That alone allows me to listen to myself from another perspective like another artist made it. Sounds crazy but the best things in life happened naturally. Afterwards, I sit and study all I wrote to present it to get feed back and drop the song or album to stream. What inspired you to write “Chopped Heads”? Deep thought of my truth in what I see being unnoticed in the world. Mainly the people I encounter who alot of them are social activists. From the youth to the elders of my community that live in the trenches. The rage of myself and others pretty much inspired this song. Instead of me saying we gone be alright and lets protest , im saying war. Whats the meaning behind the track? The title sounds brutal but its a metaphor for loosing your mind , being told how to think , being mindless , Anti Governed mentally. From police shootings to the crimes going on in the news no one speaks on how we as the people feel. All everyone talk about is money, selling drugs, and whatever other generic topic. Hip Hop is a movement you cant be afraid to speak on politics and whats going on in the community. Chopped Heads is a militant anthem for free thinkers and a creative expression against neo colonialism. Chopped Heads is a song you will have to listen to over and over again. Alot of the jewel's in this song deal with Spirituality. The overall energy of the track ist to rally up everyone who can resonate with the song and give them they war song. - “Watch Me Fall” By Skylar Valli Is A Vibrant Taste Of An Older Time
Canadian Band Skylar Valli consists of Jacob Hummel, Tyler Shea, Bryan Cisneros and Brad Schnarr who all bring a variety of instruments to compile their “rock band” lineup with a solid sound in each song. Skylar Valli is a combination of unforgettable hooks that have a peppering of classic rock and roll blended with the timeless sound of 60s songwriters with inspiration from artists like The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Skylar Valli has aimed their sights on widening what people perceive of specific genres with their young, modern attitude and contemporary pop-rock sound. “Watch Me Fall” starts off with that funky old school vibe that definitely reminds me of that timeless classic rock sound and specifically this song has remnants of the upbeat, vibrant tones found in “Shiny Happy People” by R.E.M. along with many other older artists. The vocals that can be found throughout “Watch Me Fall” have a beautiful tone with the accompaniment of harmonies that complement the refined vocal melodies so perfectly and also giving it that 60s feel. The combination of instruments used to create the old-time sound found in “Watch Me Fall” help transport the listener to the time frame as well as giving them an opportunity to drift into their imagination with the assistance of the well written lyrics that have deep meaning. Skylar Valli has the skill to create a song that gains an audience’s attention with ease, and they have crafted a sound that really brings back a musical feel that, in my opinion, has been missing from some newer music – that sense of just pure happiness and the ability to provide raw musical talent. Keep an eye out for Skylar Valli as they are a group that is going to have you jamming all night long. Listen to "Watch Me Fall" here and get to know more about Skylar Valli below! Hey Skylar Valli! Fantastic to chat with you! Can you give us a background on yourselves? Jacob Hummel: The four of us have been playing for a couple years now, though we’ve known each other since we were around 5 or 6 years old. Starting off playing in little pubs singing covers of rhythm and blues classics, we tended to be more focused on just playing the songs we love as opposed to our “image” and profficiency as a band. Despite the four of us being mostly self taught on our instruments, we were recognized by audience members for having such a big sound from kids of our age. Though, it definitely took some time to find ourselves and our identity in a musical sense. We are definitely lucky to have four members who are confident enough on multiple instruments that we can use to enhance our performances. The four of us are very heavily influenced by the bands of the 60-80’s; The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and David Bowie, you know, they define what great music is for me. I guess as we started bringing more of my originals into our sets, our first being the single Ring in the Eye, we started to follow the idea that no two of our songs should sound the same. This ‘motto’ has carried us to where we are now, with our most recent album, Blue. Bryan Cisneros: We each developed a unique interest for music, and that same passion eventually got us all involved in an environment where we were playing together. At first it was just the four of us playing rock songs at school assemblies, and from there we grew to pubs, and then to where we are now. Brad Schnarr: Once we started playing together back in high school we decided to try and start a band, and I cannot believe the things we’ve accomplished together since then. I had never realized the amount of opportunities that music could provide for me. Something as simple as playing music with this band gives me a feeling that I just can’t describe. How did you all first decide that making music together was your path? Tyler Shea: For us, the music comes together really organically, it’s never forced. I think that’s what makes it so easy for us to play something together and say that this is what we want to dedicate ourselves to. I certainly can’t imagine spending so much time on anything else; we are just all very passionate about sharing our music with the world. We also spend so much time messing around in the studio, I’m surprised we get anything done. Is there a deeper meaning behind “Watch Me Fall”? Jacob Hummel: Admittedly, I am not a lyric writer. I write instrumentals suited for lyrics, and accompany the music with lyrics. With our song “Watch Me Fall” it truly just came about while recording the other tracks for our album. Coming back from a lunch break in recording the other tracks for our album, I had a few ideas in my head for a song that had a general descending chord structure, but not in the standard 7 note major key. With a descending chord structure, and a drum beat reminiscent of falling down a set of stairs, it seemed only justified to title the song appropriately. I produced and arranged this track as well, aiming to give the feeling of an unstable landscape with the falling backbeat and droning organ tones. This track was one that I definitely enjoyed recording more so than the others as it allowed me to experiment with layering vocal harmonies, which is something I’ve always enjoyed and appreciated in the work of The Beach Boys, a band that is one of my main influences. I must say with Tyler’s steady, yet un-even backbeat, Bryan’s amazing piano performance and Brad’s creative guitar abilities, this track shines as one of my favourite pieces to have been a part of. Talk us through your creative process as a band when it comes to writing. Jacob Hummel: My process for songwriting is never the same for each song. Sometimes it happens on piano, guitar, even banjo. It all depends on what chords or melodies I stumble upon. I wouldn’t consider myself a particularly “brilliant” songwriter, as I find the joy in not necessarily thinking about what I’m playing, and just playing it. That being said, I must say I am awful at reading and writing “proper” music on a staff and everything, but luckily with what I’m doing, I don’t need my songs written out in that way. Typically I will write an instrumental song with an idea for a melody, and slowly add more lyrics as I work on the track. It takes anywhere from five minutes to five months for me to have something I’m proud of. When I do finally get to a point where I am satisfied with the song, I’ll bring it up to the guys and play it for them. They pick it up usually after hearing it the first time and from there on we iron it out. Tyler usually has creative input on the structure as well as additional ideas for my songs, just as I add elements and ideas to tracks that he has written. Tyler Shea: I think a song is a feeling more than anything, and to make the listener feel the same way is what we strive for. I’m always inspired by the music Jacob brings to the band; it’s amazing to see each song we write evolve into something that we all have never heard before. Can we expect to see anything new from Skylar Valli in 2019? Brad Schnarr: Oh yeah! Jacob Hummel: Yeah we are definitely excited about what the rest of 2019 has to offer. We took a pretty big leap in sound with our most recent release, and plan to continue from there. We are looking to record another EP featuring all new originals with new approaches into untouched genres for us. I can personally say Eastern music has had a huge impact on our upcoming originals as well as having some Brit-Rock influences in there as well. I can’t say where the rest of 2019 will take us just yet, but we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. - Get Groovy With This Tasty Hit From DAVIE “Flavor”
DAVIE is a true Masterchef! Combining myriad flavors of musical deliciousness, from a synthetic funk mirroring a prince like sound to a Curtis Mayfield-Esque Chicago sweet soul magic. DAVIE gives the most flavorous song that will most definitely be added to my personal playlists! The release of his record “Flavor” was a mellifluous melody mixed with a funky soulful texture to his vocal resonance. But what grasped me as a complete fan was when I watched the vibrant video he released alongside the song. In the video, the arrangement of everything was classic, and retro. From the fashion, to the choreography, down to the disco ball. The detail in this video added a transporting time-machine for the listener to enter and go on an exuding vibrant journey to the past. DAVIE exhibits the modern day prince throughout his entire flare. He has this ageless artistry to him that we don’t find wearing out anytime soon. His picture perfect R&B ballads can catch the eyes of classic legends such as Stevie Wonder and Lionel Rich. however, he remains tastefully translatable to the current generation with his smooth velvet vocals that represents a frank ocean articulation. “Flavor” was an all around fun hit we loved to its fullest capacity! Listen to Flavor here and get to know more about DAVIE below! Welcome to BuzzMusic DAVIE! Mind introducing yourself and your background to our readers? My name is Davie. Let’s discuss this fun hit, “Flavor”. What was the entire theme of the record? In the beginning, it was. I was playing live shows during the time of the recording , so I was really in a fun and hype place. Most of the tracks on the EP are mid tempo, but the uptempo tracks have some sauce that carry the project. How would you describe the lyrical arrangement in “Flavor” ? A little bit of Prince's falsetto, with some James Brown drums. I wanted it to have some sass. What’s next for you DAVIE? Shows! I cant wait to start playing live. - BABA NYZA Released The Lush Single “Rack Like Spice”
BABA NYZA is the latest Enigmatic addition to RNB’s new wave of highly talented singers. After dropping three tracks, the latest of which, Rack Like Spice, generated 65,000 streams in 7 days and debuted at Number 1 on the Sex Playlist, BABA NYZA is a reflection of the great sounds coming out of Toronto's alternative R&B scene. BABA NYZA released the single titled “Rack Like Spice” and we loved the lusty angst-driven tone that illustrated trying to cope with bad decisions and matches the sinful giving-in characterized by his generation. “Rack Like Spice” complements this current generation mindset and the fight with temptation. Therefore, this single brings out a new persona in its listener. The inner delinquency that we all have when faced with temptations of something we want. Rack Like Spice also showcases NYZA's huge vocal range as he smoothly sings between higher and lower octaves switching from verse to chorus. The high vocal register presented in his voice is what captivates me the most. It’s like “damn, this guy got a voice on him”. Not many male singers can even reach the octaves he reaches which makes “Rack Like Spice” a unique type of sensation that you can’t and won’t be able to forget. Listen to “Rack Like Spice” here and get to know more about BABA NYZA below! Hey BABA NYZA! Knowing you’re currently pursuing a masters degree in Southern California, what is it that you’re studying in school? I currently study business management and marketing in University of California Irvine. Who are some of your musical inspirations/influences and in what ways have you been influenced by them? Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Drake, Lana Del Rey. Vocally, I've been singing along to Alicia Keys since I was 11 years old. I used to sing along to all of her and Ne-Yo's songs in the shower, in my room, and even on the way to school, humming on the bus. They've inspired me to sing in a high octave and I feel most comfortable in that range. How would you describe the lyrical arrangement in “Racks Like Spice”? Rack Like Spice is a story of a girl who is suffering from a bad breakup and giving in to falling for a bad guy. The song talks a lot about power and the power dynamics of giving in to something you don't want to. What inspired you to write this record? To be honest, I don't write all my lyrics from experience. I like to capture feelings that people go through once or twice in their lives so that when they listen to my song they can think about that time! What’s next for you BABA NYZA? The next step is to release an EP project! Connect with BABA NYZA on social media www.facebook.com/babanyza www.instagram.com/babanyza www.twitter.com/baba_nyza
