  • Stoopid Swagg OG’s Reached A New Level On His Thumping New Release “Stuntin’ on a Bitch”

The Memphis-raised, LA-based emcee can’t be kept down. Driven by fond memories of his grandfather’s music and an insatiable desire for success, Memphis native Stoopid Swagg OG has consistently managed to stand out and remain unique amidst a crowded industry. Known for his hypnotic cadence and knack for witty and challenging wordplay, this rising star has kept audiences enthralled with dynamic releases like “Bumpin” and “I Done Made a Lot.” With a slew of new music up his sleeve, this talented star-in-making is showing no signs of slowing down. Having grown up to Three 6 Mafia, Playa Fly, and Cash Money, OG’s influences have always been grounded in the gritty yet irresistible sounds of the 2000s and early 2010s rap. Like many great artists of the genre before him, he’d get his start rapping along to his favorite rappers’ music. This initial foray into music would soon bloom into something more substantial, and after learning to freestyle while in Omaha, Nebraska, with some buddies, OG would make the fateful decision to start recording. Since then, he’s gone from strength to strength, and his subsequent release promises to see him continue his hot streak. “Stuntin’ on a bitch” is OG’s latest release and an emphatic representation of the style he’s made his name with. Over bumping, classic hip-hop instrumentals reminiscent of early Three 6 Mafia, OG is ice cold as he drops lines like “I will be stuntin’ on a bitch / Ice gang, hurricane / Nigga look at the wrist.” His delivery lends a distinct drawl to his cadence as well, making “Stuntin’ on a bitch” feel pretty true to OG’s brand of music. If anything, it’s a testament to the fact that OG’s style has been and continues to be timeless over the years, fusing classic influences with modern production. “Stuntin’ on a bitch” is Stoopid Swagg OG’s confident and catchy declaration of his shine. With a sound that brings you back to the good old days of the 2000s and early 2010s, hip-hop “Stuntin’ on a bitch” will fit right in with any hip-hop playlists you might have. • Run Through The Streets Of New York With Mic Nickels And Method Man

NYC alt-rap hero Mic Nickels and the critically acclaimed Method Man are prime examples of complimentary styles collaborating for the greater good of hip-hop. This old-school flair comes to life in "El Matador" and pairs an invincible underground sound with one of the most famous voices in hip-hop history with no discordance at all. The animations that make up the visual exposé of "El Matador" have us vibing with this mesmerizing comic book come to life. Mic Nickels and Method Man moonlight as superheroes as they peruse the streets of New York, leaving jaws on the floor and their punchlines ingrained in the minds of city goers. Like our favorite cartoons, our eyes are glued to the screen and leave us without as much as a blink of an eye as we take in this creative masterpiece. With blunts, cash, dice, and equipped with proper means of protection, the dueling grounds of Mic Nickels and Method Man happen to be the aisles of Bars for Day's bodega and the allies in between. As these wordsmiths switch up the verses and each lay down a custom flow, their journey takes them to do more than just lyrically finessing those they encounter. Leaving them toe to toe with opponents that are more like conquests in the way, the missing signs plastered on the bar walls hint to them bodying the competition. These dueling emcees leave it all on the table while dusting off the crumbs, leaving their mark in the Wild, Wild West, which happens to be on the East coast of NYC. With several references to hip-hop history scattered through easter eggs in this animated video, homage is paid thoroughly and in a genuinely respectable manner. As the notable tribute to the late MF Doom graces the screen, it's apparent that this staple inspires both rappers by the iconic mark he left in hip-hop. Viewers may not know that MF Doom had initially agreed to jump on "El Matador" before his tragic passing, and Method Man stepped up to take his place. "El Matador" is among the many highlights of Mic Nickels' solo album "Bars for Days." A project that establishes him as a formidable solo artist, a rap traditionalist, and an autobiographical storyteller with few peers anywhere in the music industry. Nickels writes about his unique artistic journey, a candid memoir that shares more with his most recent album than a title. It's a pure expression of dedication, perseverance, and the love of music. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Mic Nickels! Congratulations on the release of the music video for "El Matador." Taking this piece was so entertaining, and we love the homage you pay to NYC hip-hop and hip-hop. What inspired the animated approach to the visuals? Peace. Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated. As you pointed out, I feel very connected to the culture and birthplace. Specifically, boom-bap era hip-hop, I grew alongside this movement. A gritty darkness to "El Matador" almost feels vintage in this day and age, and I knew I really wanted to encapsulate that vibe for the video. Initially, I had some ideas for a live-action video, but Meth and I had difficulty lining up our schedules. So, I started toying around with the idea of this animated dystopia instead. I called an artist named Ooge, whom I have worked with, and we started brainstorming. The song's premise focuses on dealing with opponents or enemies, so we came up with this idea of a hood western deep in Brooklyn. What can you tell us about the illustrator and the process of bringing this video to life? We can only imagine it was a lengthy process that required so much attention to detail. Oogie and I have a great vibe together. He's one of my favorite visual artists. He has done a whole series of album covers for me. We both exist at remarkably similar frequencies, so we just started getting on the phone and hashing out ideas. Visuals, concepts, mood... our initial convo was very loose. But from that, I could craft a treatment for a story together, and Ooge didn't hesitate. He just started knocking it out scene by scene at a crazy pace. I knew he wasn't an animator, and I couldn't expect him to sketch out the entire project freehand, so the plan was for him to create scenes and avatars, and then I'd find someone who could bring it all to life. It took roughly seven months from start to end, but that's precisely what happened. Working alongside Method Man is an accolade that many hip-hop heads wish they could accomplish in their lifetime. What was it like working together? And, of course, the age-old question - will it happen again? It's still unbelievable to me. You're talking about an artist who is hands down one of the greatest ever to do it. When I started writing, he was THE hottest emcee on the planet. Hip-hop heads of that era unanimously agreed upon this. Everyone was emulating his style, including myself. Here we are decades later, and he is still proving himself as one of the dopest on the scene, and there's me, trading verses with one of the GOATs of hip hop. I've been at this long and worked hard at my craft. An opportunity like this validates the sacrifice, you know? I'm honored he respected me enough to put his name down next to mine. Many people have been commenting on how well our styles complement each other. I wrote my verse first on this track, which dictated the pace. I would love to write my bars in reaction to what he puts down next time. So, I am hoping it happens again! How important is it to you to preserve the roots of hip-hop in your music? What does hip-hop mean to you? I come from a specific generation that grew up alongside hip-hop culture. The emcees, the DJs, the breakers, and the graffiti artists were all putting their marks on society during the 80s while we were in elementary school. Children like myself were wearing fat laces and carrying around boomboxes. By the time the 90s hit, and we were teens, golden era hip-hop was at its pinnacle. We embodied the movement of lyricism and evolved along with it in real-time. So, while the commercialization of the rap art form has watered mainstream products into an indecipherable stew of monotony, an entire subculture of individuals who feel just like I do about it exists. They are hungry for substance from unique rappers. I represent this, not because I feel obligated to, but by default. It's just in my DNA. Let's dive into Bars for Days and what we can expect from the album. What do listeners have in store with this masterpiece? What comes next? Well, first, thank you for calling it a masterpiece. A lot of hard work and love went into it! This was the first full-length solo album I did after dedicating years to my band project. When our weekly residency of eight years ended, I felt this driving urge to return to my roots. To do a "beats and rhymes" album. So, I started reaching out to producers who I had worked with in the past. I do produce my music, but I wanted to focus on the lyrics for this particular project. I wanted it to be primarily boom-bap in nature and experiment with a musically speaking contemporary sound. So, you get both here. Without a doubt, heavy lyricism drives the train on Bars. There are some incredible vocal cameos from Timbo King, Whichcraft, ADUM7, and of course, the god himself, Method Man. I couldn't be prouder of this project and the book that goes along with it. The "El Matador" single is the grand finale of an idea years in the making. But I already have the next one on deck. My eight-song EP with Kiza, The Impressionist, is slated to drop later this year, and it's an absolute banger from front to back! Instagram Facebook

  • AESTHETIC Reminds Us to Grace Ourselves With Extra “CARE”

Known for his vulnerability through addressing complex topics, AESTHETIC is an artist who shines a light on serious subjects such as mental health that are often deemed taboo for bringing up. Constantly finding a way to package them into an upbeat, modern sound, through the years, AESTHETIC has been building his platform to spread an honest message of love, positivity, and community to all who listen. Through lush guitar riffs and an atmospheric sound bound to sweep you to a sentimental place, AESTHETIC's latest single, "CARE," has the Telford-based artist opening up about one of the lowest points in his life. The poignant instrumentation wraps you in a vessel of self-assured tranquility as you hear AESTHETIC convey his relatable struggles in a passion-fueled manner. Walking the fine line between self-care and self-destruction, we hear the vulnerability of AESTHETIC's journey overflow into something utterly profound. Building in intensity as harmonies rise to a crescendo, the sonic destination of "CARE" mimics the highs and lows one feels when one mentally surrenders to the energy weighing them down. Being AESTHETIC's ninth studio single, his fan base isn't unfamiliar with the emotion-backed themes he tends to address. However, "CARE" remains his most constructive approach to mental health. Embarking on the first chapter of his recent mental health journey, this is merely the starting point as AESTHETIC plans to stay candid with his audience. While the spotlight may not always shine on us in this consumerist world, AESTHETIC reminds us that we bring beauty and significance to every setting we exist in, all through aesthetics. Welcome to BuzzMusic, AESTHETIC! Congratulations on the release of your heartfelt ballad, “CARE.” The way you get personal on this record really speaks to who you are as an artist and individual apart from the music. What prompted you to begin sharing your recent journey with mental health? I’ve been on a pretty long journey with my mental health. I’ve dealt with depression since I was 14. While I have been on this up-and-down journey for half my life, it hasn’t been until the last year that I really began doing some of my best work with it personally. I’ve been with a great therapist I work with and have felt bought into a therapeutic program. I turn 30 on the day of this release, and I am incredibly fortunate to say that life has been good to me lately. Being in such a good place, I felt good enough to reflect on a very dark day in my life constructively, and I’m hoping that telling my story will make others feel more okay in whatever they deal with personally. Through this single, you aim to help people feel less alone in whatever they struggle with on the inside. Who is that artist that continues to help you through your struggles? How have they affected your life? Linkin Park has always been a band that I’ve looked up to when speaking on the harsh realities of one’s mental health. Since my middle/high school days, I’ve listened to and connected with their music long before I could even mindfully say what their music exactly means to me. While I didn’t have the self-awareness back then as I do now, I’ve always felt at home listening to their music, and I still do to this day. With “CARE” being your ninth studio single, how does it compare to your previously released discography? What makes “CARE” stand apart from the rest? What’s cool about this one is that, in terms of production? We aimed to do a lot with a little. While my previous releases have been mainly huge productions full of synths, 808s, etc., returning to my roots of playing acoustic guitar and just singing from the heart felt good. For this song, I think we succeeded in capturing that rawness with a little whipped cream on top, if that makes sense. Haha. In terms of lyrics? This song was so effortless because I feel like I am just naturally telling a story vs. constructing one as I have with previous releases. It might sound cliche, but this is the most real s**t I’ve ever written. The name AESTHETIC is unique, and your mission to the world truly fits into this. What inspired you to choose the name that you have? So in the build-up to my very first release back in New Year 2018, I had a song ready but didn’t have an artist name. I didn’t want to use my real name (Brandon Karasinski) because it’s syllable heavy and not super-marketable. Haha. AESTHETIC came from a conversation with a friend about the beautiful aesthetics used in Star Wars movies. I’m a big nerd. While I didn’t assign meaning to it until after the fact, I feel like we live in such a profoundly consumerist world anymore. We like to hone in on whoever the center of our attention is but in doing that, we often neglect the individual value that we bring to every setting we exist in. We are all beautiful. We all matter. We are all AESTHETIC. How can we expect the rest of your written mental health journey to be conveyed? What does your audience have to look forward to? So “CARE” is the first chapter of this mental health journey I am sharing. Once this release has run its course, I will be locking in to write the remainder of an EP I hope to have ready by the middle of 2024. The storyline is already in place. It’s just a matter of turning those stories into songs I can be proud of, like this one. In the interim of writing and recording that? I plan to do feature work with other artists/DJs I have been itching to work with. On top of that? I am finally starting to play live shows as a solo artist! It only took me 5+ years, but I made my live music debut on September 28th in Allentown, PA. We’ll see how it all unfolds, but there is a lot to be excited about, and I can’t wait to dive headfirst into this new chapter I like to call “My 30s.” Instagram Facebook

Or maybe one of those government-issued UFOs everyone and their deranged mothers have been gossiping about? Well, fear not, my loves; thankfully, "THAT” was not the sound of armageddon, and “THOSE” were not the solemn strings of impending doom. “THAT,” my curious and attentive friends, was the sweet sound of another chance at a modern GOLDEN AGE. “THAT” is the promise of the long-awaited, much-anticipated return to the 'Gold Standard.' Whenever you're ready, tap in and stream Habhab's new release, "Show Me a Way Out," available now on all major streaming platforms. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, Mike Habhab! We loved “Show Me a Way Out;" we had to ask! Although you mentioned the inspiration for this song came from your relationship, what was it like expressing those feelings through your music? Writing this song was an emotional journey and therapy for me. That period was challenging for me and my wife as well. I do not want to get too in-depth, but it was a rough patch that I do not want to experience again. I have always thought that music was a great way to express your feelings, and for this true song. To sing about and relive it again was hard but worth it. Something that’s quickly become apparent is your penchant for sincere, heartfelt lyricism. Is this approach to your music intentional, and how would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before? I would say that my songs come from the heart. Writing about experiences that I have encountered is easy for me, and this approach is intentional and what works best for me. I would describe my music as speaking from my heart with raw emotion, love, and life experiences that I am sure everyone has had at some point. I want to be able to connect and share all that I can through music and song. What inspired you to start making music, and what inspires you to keep making music today? It has always been my dream to write music or to sing. I used to write poems for my wife and family, and I wanted to explore more on the songwriting side. I feel that music is an art form that everyone can connect with and enjoy. I am inspired to keep writing music because it is good therapy for myself and brings my love for music to the world for those who will listen. What would you want it to be if your listeners could take one thing away from your music? I hope I can touch or reach out to some listeners going through what I have gone through and tell them not to give up and that there is always hope. What’s next for Mike Habhab? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans? I am currently in the writing phase to see what works and what does not work. For my fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and for letting me share my music journey with you; you are the best.

  • Mosaics Propels Love And Truth In "Tidal Lock"

Coming from Monroeville, Alabama, and after having toured across various types of projects around the Deep South, Trevor Johnson started a solo post-hardcore/melodic hardcore project, Mosaics. To create a crossover between experimental artists like La Dispute or mewithoutYou, but with a more straightforward and melodic sound similar to Hundredth and Counterparts, Mosaics has crafted a sound custom to who he is as an artist. Fresh to your speakers and screens, Mosaics has released a poignant and bewildering new single and music video for “Tidal Lock.” With a darkened sound that tributes rock n roll of the early 2000s, Mosaics intertwines a narrative that surrounds the waves of love and the passion and emotion behind the pain we endure through this lifetime. Such a profound blend of how powerful feelings are, Mosaics doesn’t shy away from the vulnerability and potency he gives his words as he conveys a heartfelt performance riddled with the truth behind his croons. Knowing that experience backs the lyrical motifs heard, a brilliant collision happens between what he believes the truth to be and the honesty that unfolds through the ebb and flow of life. Jam-packed with intentional guitar riffs that you feel to your core and rhythm so vigorous that it has you embracing the swing of life, Mosaics is an example of what happens when you let your guard down and create from a place of authenticity. In this boy-meets-girl montage, spaced between Mosaics taking the spotlight, “Tidal Lock” is a gateway to riveting thoughts bound to make you think. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Mosaics! We love the single and music video combination for the release of “Tidal Lock.” It looks like a lot of thought went into the creation and execution of this release. How does it feel to have “Tidal Lock” available to the world? It felt surreal. I’m so very proud of this song and I have had to sit on it for nine months. It's so cool to have it available to everyone. What are you hoping your audience takes away from the messaging and emotion showcased in the song? What has “Tidal Lock” done to help you as an artist and individual? It would be great if they took away a bit of quiet and stillness. I wanted the vocals and instrumentals to feel almost like soft, relaxed breathing and I think I accomplished that. This song has helped me feel a lot more comfortable in how I want to write songs in the future. It is proof of how much better my voice is getting. This song is reassuring to me as I hope it is to the listener. Could you please highlight the creative process that brought “Tidal Lock” to life? Who helped in enhancing this vision and making it come to fruition? I’ve spent the past three or four years listening to delta blues and crooner jazz. This song is a combination of trying to dig down into the earthy sounds of the 20’s-50’s and lots of time listening to the bands Will Yip's produced. The visual aspect is so powerful and eye-catching. Did you always know this would be the concept for the music video? How was this idea born, and what was it like filming it? The video was originally intended to showcase a young couple in the 1950’s and an older couple in the present day. This was to mirror a day together and represent the weight of time not pulling them away. We couldn’t coordinate the moving parts required to execute the initial idea. So we leaned on Brett and Stevie being as good as they were to carry the whole narrative. Filming was tough because we were shooting in 93 degree weather on a particularly humid New Orleans afternoon, but it was fun. What’s next for you? I have a few things waiting to come out that I’m featured on. However, as for the project as a whole I’m working on storyboards for a really ambitious project I hope to have together this time next year. Instagram

  • Idahams Keeps the Good Vibes Going On His Alluring Remix Of His Hit Single “Wetin No Good”

The Nigerian artist continues to show a remarkable ear for melodies alongside standout verses from Eltee Skhillz and Dandizzy. Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Nigeria's Bonny Island, Idahams has rapidly emerged and established himself as one of the most captivating faces in Afropop music. With two critically acclaimed projects under his belt and over 5 million streams to his name on his last single, "Wetin' No Good," the singer and producer has firmly cemented his place among Afropop's brightest rising stars. Now, he's set to reach even greater heights, bringing us an electrifying "Wetin' No Good" remix to keep the good vibes flowing. Idaham's musical journey has always been rooted in his hometown's rich culture and sounds. Whether channeling pop, afrobeat, or a piano, his releases are always characterized by his ability to infuse rhythm and keep you moving. His ventures into music videos are similarly alluring; for the video for "Wetin' No Good," Idahams tapped award-winning Nigerian filmmaker Promise Charles. Shot in Lagos, the visual narrative revolves around three leading men, including Idahams, lusting after the same love interest, only to discover her plans for serving them all a dose of heartbreak, humorously represented as a hot breakfast in Nigerian slang. With the remix set for release on July 20 via Grafton Records, Idahams has somehow taken "Wetin No Good" to even greater levels of sonic brilliance. The remix retains the magical drum patterns, thumping bassline, and lush vocals of the original but elevates the experience with an infectious Eltee Skhillz verse and witty Dandizzy wordplay. Although Idaham deals with serious matters of love and heartbreak, he can still keep the song's mood fairly light through his vocal performance, making for a good listening and dancing experience. For any fans of the original or Afropop in general, the new remix of "Wetin No Good" will surely capture your hearts and ears.
