  • Krish Shows Us Why He’s The One To Watch With New Single, “Luv U Right Back”

Krish is an Indian-American pop artist, producer, and singer who draws from electronica and R&B influences. This rising star started in 2017 with his debut album, titled “Roses & Bonfires,” which showcased the R&B and Hip-Hop influences that he grew up with in Up-State New York. Krish is unbelievably talented, with a lot up his sleeve that we didn’t expect. We listened to his single titled “Luv U Right Back” and were immensely impressed. The amount of personality and charisma this single had felt like a direct reflection of the exciting nature of Krish’s presence. Krish has proven to be a noteworthy artist and one to watch. With a trendy and cultivating record like “Luv U Right Back,” we’re quite unsure how anybody could not have the track on their playlist. It expresses the paranoia and mental stress that comes along with a long-distance relationship. “Luv U Right Back” is the vibe we all most definitely need and will remain embedded in your memories for quite a while. It has a type of aesthetic that the current market of mainstream music would thoroughly enjoy. Pairing minimalistic songwriting and production with eclectic sound design and unorthodox mixing techniques, Krish continues to unravel the new sound coming in his debut EP on East Vibe Publishing. We need artists like Krish. There’s just something so addictive and invigorating about his music and artistry that you can’t help but fall in love with. We hope the music industry is ready because he is sure to be causing a storm of soundwaves in this upcoming year. Mind telling us about your inspiration and reason for pursuing music? Thank you, guys, for having me! A lot of my inspiration just comes from what I see in life around me, and some of it is personal experiences. Honestly, the reason I pursue music is probably just because I'm hooked. A lot of artists and producers I've met say that it's like a drug, and once you get hooked on making music, you're addicted, haha. I don't think it's the best analogy, but I definitely agree. In what ways does “Luv U Right Back” differentiate from your single “Like U” from your perspective?  'Like U' was probably the first song of mine that really grabbed an audience online. It opened a lot of doors for me and I'm thankful but I think from an artistic perspective, 'Luv U Right Back' and 'Like U' shows just how far my production and songwriting skills have come.. at least in my opinion. One of the things that I try to focus on as much as possible is taking a far-out/creative idea and making it palatable to most people, simplifying and bringing a sort of minimalism to the record. 'Luv U Right Back' is probably my best attempt at doing that, haha. Definitely have more music like 'Like U' coming soon, though; stay on the lookout. How were u able to personally relate to “Luv U Right Back”? What emotion did you channel when writing this record?  Well, I wrote this song about my personal relationship with my girlfriend, we both go to college on long island but we're about an hour away. We also now live in different states when we're not in college, so this summer especially was probably the biggest inspiration for this record. The feelings were there the whole summer, but I didn't really know how to put it into words, and honestly, I probably didn't want to. But once you're able to come to terms with your own feelings, it becomes a lot easier to write about them and turn them into a song. Everything's good now, though, don't worry HAHA. When releasing your sophomore EP titled “In Your Absence,” were there any changes in your artistry you wanted to showcase as opposed to your debut? My debut EP was sort of this capsule of memories from high school. I really had no experience in the music industry or with the people in it. I had no idea how everything worked, I just made that record purely based on what I was feeling hanging around bonfires, partying, going for stupid long drives, and honestly just wasting time with my friends. 'In Your Absence' was more of me trying to figure out what I actually wanted to create in terms of the specific music. Definitely more inspired by what I was seeing around me rather than what I was personally going through. I think this next EP coming in January will probably be as personal, if not more than my debut. How was the transition for you as an artist from “Roses & Bonfires” to “In Your Absence”? Did you feel more developed artistically to work on your second album? Definitely, 'Runaway,' the third record on "In Your Absence," is probably, in my eyes, my most artistically developed record to date. I was somehow able to tell stories the way I wanted to on there, and everything just came across right; even when I listen to it now, I feel exactly what I was feeling then. As the holiday season is approaching us and 2019 is coming to a close, what are you looking forward to in the new year Krish? I have one last record coming out this December, and then I'm putting out an EP in January that I'm so stoked for. There's probably going to be a pretty intensive merch drop sometime in January or February too. So many things coming in 2020 that I can't wait for. (possible tour next year, woo.) Instagram Twitter

  • Krish Has The Sound We Didn’t Know We Needed In “Four”

Talented indie artist Krish is making eclectic music out of New York. The producer and singer blend electronic, pop and R&B genres flawlessly. His career began with modest acoustic covers of The Chainsmokers and The Weeknd before releasing his debut EP, “Roses & Bonfires,” in 2017. This album set the foundations for Krish’s sound, featuring creative vocal effects, warm R&B beats, and vulnerable lyricism. Krish’s single “like u” gained over 300K streams combined within its first being released. Krish continued his climb to recognition by releasing a second EP, “In Your Absence which, in addition to showing an improvement in production quality and a more confident vocal delivery, racked up 100k streams in the first month. Krish’s latest single, "Four," is the first of six new songs coming out this year. The single strips it back to showcase the vulnerability of the scars of a past relationship gone wrong. Through his emotive yet catchy lyricism, Krish expertly weaves through storytelling elements of his past experiences. With a diverse musical background and extensive knowledge, Krish moves through the music; his vocalism is pure and simplistic, yet brilliant. We can’t get enough of the indie-pop and R&B blend. It’s authentic and refreshing. “Four” takes the listener on a retrospective journey and has many moments that are relatable and comforting. Krish is definitely the one to watch throughout 2019. Hi Krish! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell us about the meaning behind your song “Four”? Before writing 'Four,' I had finished the production of the track a few months earlier and just let it sit. Usually, for most songwriting sessions, I go into the process with some idea, but with this one, I had nothing. On my flight back from New York to the recording session in I listened to the production on repeat for about two hours. At the end of the flight, I had this idea to write about a relationship that had gone south because I (the guy in the relationship, I guess, haha) didn't stop to consider what was really important in the relationship and because of that, lost it all. Using this concept, I wrote the "It's four AM, and that light looks red, like your lips when you left" line at the end of the flight and branched off of that in the session, using a stoplight as a metaphor for stopping and thinking through problems with a clear head. What emotions did you channel when creating “Four”? It's a sad song. But in order to write a good sad song, I feel that you need to have layers. Four is sad, but at the same time, it's angry. Angry at myself for not stopping to think about what she wanted and where she was coming from at the time and losing it all because of that. How do you feed your passion for music every day? Just surrounding myself in the actual music part. Getting in the studio, producing, writing when I can, singing. Those are the things that make me happy and allow me to do this. If I wasn't happy while making music, there wouldn't be any point. Seeing how far I've come in music quality alone and seeing how hard my friends and peers work, it's all inspiring. Who are your biggest artistic influences that have shaped you as an artist? There's always the legends (Michael Jackson, Prince) and the huge acts topping the charts nowadays (The Chainsmokers, Chelsea Cutler, Bazzi, John Mayer, Jeremy Zucker); actually, John Mayer is already in the legend category for me, haha. But I think I've been the most inspired lately by indie acts that are changing the game, Christian French, Alexander 23, Sam Setton, Dounia, and RKCB, just to name a few. Really good music and vision without all the fluff. What can we expect from you in the near future? A lot of new music, haha, A LOT. Hopefully five new records before the year ends if not six. A bunch of shows and some fun clothing :) I'm actually trying out a new set this Sunday, August 4th, in NYC. Can't wait! Instagram

  • Razor Sheds Confidence With His New Single, “Bootyful”

Razor is a singer and songwriter who hails all the way from Miami, Florida, who just released his latest single titled “Bootyful.” “Bootyful” is a smooth-sailing song that has an intricate fusion of hip-hop with R&B. “Bootyful” has soaring melodies with an infectious hook. We love the vibe, and the beat has a trendy sound that creates the hip-hop aesthetic of the song. The hook sings with detailed lyricism. A good characteristic of this song was not only the lyric’s imagery but how it manages to create an exciting element of youth for the listener. You can listen to “Bootyful” and feel confident, enigmatic, and playful. This is perfect for attracting a great audience to the music and to the artist. “Bootyful” incorporates a lush autotune that matches the urban appeal. This is nicely executed and didn’t seem rushed. We were able to appreciate the vocal arrangement delivered smoothly to fit this suave and silk aesthetic. “Bootyful” is the perfect song to add to that intimate playlist. The playlist you listen to when with friends and getting ready to go out. Razor also delivers an iconic visual to augment the story-telling vibe and bring the lyrics to life. • Razor Shows That He Is Not Afraid To “Put In Work” With His New Single

From Miami, FL - Today, we get the sonic opportunity of listening to Razor and his new song “Put In Work.” Razor is a Hip Hop artist from Miami that isn’t afraid of grinding in all aspects of his life, and this song reflects exactly that. Razor is self-produced and is known around the Florida scene for his production work. The production of this track hits all the spots that need hitting with the Hip Hop genre. The vocals cut through beautifully, the drums have trap elements, and the hi-hats are super high-pitched and stand on top of the elements of the song. The overall beat and synth are very fresh while simultaneously giving a feeling of the heavy-hitting Hip Hop songs that have shaped the genre. Vocally and lyrically, Razor cuts deep, singing about his grind and how he also likes to enjoy some play, too. It’s rare that you hear about a Hip Hop artist who is a producer, as well as a great one, and “Put In Work” speaks to his efforts as an artist and as someone who isn’t afraid of rolling up his sleeves in all aspects of his life. The song is perfectly lengthed, closing in at 3:19, and you definitely feel like you are ready for more music by Razor. Definitely check this out ASAP and let us know what you think about “Put In Work.” What was it like working with artists such as Rick Ross, Brisco, Gunplay, Camron & Freeway? Working with each artist was its own unique experience. Some artists are very accessible, others not so much, and each artist has their own creative process; Rick Ross and Brisco were probably the easiest to work with as their creative way is most similar to mine. What has been the highlight of your musical journey thus far? The highlight of my musical career would have to be transitioning to an R&B artist; I gained a great deal of respect for all the real singers and the skill it takes to develop the vocal range, control, and versatility. Thanks for sharing your new single "Put In Work" with us. What inspired this track? Honestly, I was on my way home one early morning from this vibes crib, and the song pretty much tells how that night went. You have a new hip-hop EP releasing in 2020. Can you tell us a bit about what we can expect on the EP? Mostly R&B fusion vibes. A collection of trap-soul aimed at filling the void left in the absence of REAL R&B music. What does hip-hop mean to you? Hip/hop is the only lifestyle I feel at home in...if that makes sense. It's like the ever-changing lingo, style of music, and fashion, all of it as a culture has shaped and moulded my sense of self for as long as I can remember. I appreciate y'all taking the time to interview me. Instagram Twitter

  • Interview: Scorpio Szn Talks The Creation Of New Release, "Five"

"Five" is such an uplifting song that shares a message we can all relate to. What inspires the themes you explore in your music? Armando: Thank you, it’s such a pleasure to be here! I think the main themes are inspired by the timeline of life events that have occurred between Zandi and me. It’s funny because even our tracklist is in chronological order in terms of what was going on in our life. Zandi: Long story short, It’s Weird was the start of it all, taking life as the scenery changed. Beautiful Heart came along when Armando fell in love with this girl named...let’s call her Aspen. Armando: I don’t like that name. Zandi: Whatever, that’s what we’re calling her. Anyways...He called for my assistance in writing lyrics about her. Then "Five" came along when things weren’t going as expected with Aspen, and l hated seeing how sad my best friend Armando was becoming. In my head, Five was essentially a gift to him, a subliminal message that I hoped he could resonate strongly with to remember his potential and get over this girl. As for Push to Fly, it was the cherry on top, the optimistic bop that we needed as he was off to move away and start something new, and I was on my own ventures figuring out life still, yet knowing I was going to be okay. These songs tie together the themes of love, loss, and coming of age but in a light-hearted way that brings the point across. It’s crazy because even when you hit your 20s, you truly realize your shit is definitely not together, hahaha. You’re still stumbling around making sense of it all, and you realize that “winging it” makes up a big percentage of adulting. The production of this song is well balanced and does a great job of allowing the story and vocals to shine. What is your production process like? Armando: So Five was actually the second song we wrote for the EP. It started after we did a photo shoot with a talented local photographer named Sierra Greenlee, who has now become one of our very good friends! Zandi and I both agreed, “We need a sound to match our chill-vibed, pastel aesthetic photos.” Zandi: I thought, “Hm, okay, I’m going to actually use my Bachelors's in Music Production and produce something with the same vibes.” I ran a slideshow of the photo shoot, and bam out came Five. Building on the momentum, I wrote the lyrics shortly after, writing from the perspective of Armando’s situation at the time. I showed my ideas to Armando, and it escalated quite quickly! Armando: Zandi and I brainstormed the beginning guitar parts and then I took it to our other local musicians to add more organic instruments like bass and guitar. Zandi: Our songwriting process is very organic, we don’t force, we kind of just flow. It varies between feeling a moment and creating the soundtrack versus the words. You two make a great team and are doing something very unique. How did you two meet? Armando: Haha, Tinder! Zandi: And no, we didn’t go on a date; I specifically wrote in the bio I was looking for musicians in the area to jam with! So we met up, made music, and it’s been history ever since! Undoubtedly, Scorpio Szn’s music will reach the world. What plans do you guys have to grow your music in the future? Armando: We’re wanting to continue playing live shows and eventually a small tour! And expanding out of New Mexico. What are some of your goals for 2020, Scorpion Szn? Zandi: Survive Coronavirus, as well as write a set of songs to track and release for next year! Armando: Yeah, beat Corona for sure. And we definitely wanna get new music out soon! Read our full review of "Five" here. Instagram Twitter

  • "Five" By Scorpio Szn Is An Anthem For Self-Love

What do you get when you put two Scorpios together? Well, a great Indie-Pop band named Scorpio Szn, of course. Armando Orona and Zandi Ashley are the names of the two members of this indie-pop duo. Combining their talents, the two artists have created a fun, honest and fresh sound that they hope to grow past the borders of their home, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their debut single, "Five," off of their EP ‘It’s Weird,’ is an anthem for self-love that we can all get behind. Utilizing a simple guitar riff and bouncing drums throughout the song, the emphasis is put on the lyrical and vocal abilities of Zandi Ashley. As she sings her lyrics of self-empowerment, we are reminded that we complete ourselves and others are not a necessity. Rather, others can be a gift or a curse. In the case of this song, the person Zandi is singing about is most definitely the latter. The singer coos, “I’ve got 1,2,3,4,5 other thing than you on my mind,” after learning that losing her significant other was a blessing. Love, just like life, is a journey and moments that we fear can turn out to be pivotal moments that change us for the better or worse. The meeting of Armando and Zandi has turned out to be one such moment, not only in their lives but in the Indie-Pop genre of music. Scorpio Szn is bringing their unique sound to the music industry, and they are hoping to make a big impact. Read our interview with Scorpio Szn as they discuss "Five" with us. Instagram Twitter

Chicago artist ‘Kechi (born Ikechi Chijiuba Ihemeson), brings back serene jazz and R&B vibes with his delicate yet moving compositions. • ‘Kechi Soothes Your Soul With His Latest Single, “Bells"

The moment the first humming melody came into “Bells” by ‘Kechi I just instantly knew this song would be a hit. There are so many variations of components to “Bells” that I love, so let’s go over them! Starting with the production of “Bells.” Ironically complementing the song’s title, the instrument has this nice bell effect that gives this light seasonal vibe that fits the record. Aside from the effect of the cute bell, the beat slowly transitions with new elements arriving through the production. Elements like a light hip-hop kick and soulful instrumentation create this light R&B aura. ‘Kechi gives you multi-dimensional to his vocal delivery. First, he gives you a clean-slated rap delivery that flowed so perfectly and on the beat. Then, ‘Kechi gives us a beautifully sounding melody in the chorus. His vocal register lightly transitions into a nice high register that floated like a feather on top of the beat. This gave the song a nice Smooth R&B effect. The lyricism in “Bells” were highly substantial and filled with great meaning and a message for the listeners to decode. All in all, “Bells” was peaceful canorous and a gorgeous representation of the diverse talent that ‘Kechi is equipped with. Welcome to BuzzMusic ‘Kechi! Where do you find most of your inspiration and influence from? Thank you for having me! I'd say musically, I’m listening for something with combined soul & poetry in it, and that comes from a variety of genres and artists I look up to — D’Angelo, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Lupe Fiasco, Kirk Franklin...the list goes on. Right now, Voodoo and The Black Messiah by D'Angelo (& The Vanguard for the latter), Jim Crow the Musical by Add-2, and Black Radio by the Robert Glasper Experiment have been on repeat. And then there’s life and the way I grew up. Being the only son of Nigerian parents raised in the predominantly white suburbs of Chicago, studying classical voice and writing hip-hop rhymes simultaneously — I was introduced to a lot of different experiences that I put into my writing and composition, trying to tell a side of my multi-faceted story in the most lyrical way possible. Specifically, talking about your single “Bells,” what inspired this song? The song came from a place of longing to be seen. I often find myself being drowned out in the crowd, stuck in my head, and the moment I started writing, it was the case. I wanted to express that feeling in the music. And as I stated early in the song, music is the only way I'm capable of escaping that feeling of being drowned out. Music is where I feel I have a voice that people will want to listen to, that people will want to hear out. So that's where "Bells" comes from. How would you describe your songwriting approach towards “Bells”? I produced and arranged the track before writing to it, which was the first time I had approached music writing at that point (usually, I start with the lyrics/melody before painting around it). I sat on the beat for about a month until I found myself in the circumstance I described earlier -- drowned out by the noise, longing to be seen. At that moment, the beat started to play in my head. Along with that, the first couple of lines began to form, so I grabbed my songwriting notebook and was writing. Each verse and the chorus were written separately, so it took a couple of weeks to piece together, but everything flowed at the end. What was the most challenging aspect of creating “Bells” and why? I would say the most challenging aspect was just how vulnerable and honest I was in the whole process of creating it, from writing to performing to recording it. The recording was especially difficult because I'm still getting used to being in the booth and doing multiple takes. I feel stagnant, and it's easy for the authenticity to get lost in the process. That's why I usually like to perform my music live before solidifying it in the studio. I had to keep coming back to the studio with "Bells" as I grew with it on the stage, understanding it and learning more about myself and my message. But in the end, it was all worth it, and I'm happy with what I have to share with y'all. What’s next for you ‘Kechi? I've been preparing to release my EP, The Light next month to start off the decade. I'm really excited to have the world hear it, as it's been a long time in the making. And then I'll continue to march on, performing live in the Chicago scene, making more music along the way. The goal is to keep creating and keep sharing. I can't wait to share it with y'all.
