Ferguson’s “Canyon Town” is a heartfelt ode to the profound joy and connection that can be found in the company of those we cherish. We loved “Canyon Town," a beautiful reminder of the magic of love. The beautiful music was so well done too! We have to ask, can you take us through the creative process for this song? What was the inspiration behind it? My latest single, "Canyon Town," is the third single off my new record. It was recorded all analog in Los Angeles with producer Matt Linesch. This song was inspired by my time spent in Montana, I travel there often, and the first time my husband, who at the time was my boyfriend, came to visit me, we spent the day in Yellowstone Nat’l Park. I was so in awe of the beauty. As we drove through this beautiful canyon next to a winding river leading down to a one-horse town, I was grateful to have my lover beside me and realized how sharing special moments with a partner can make them much more meaningful. The music video for "Canyon Town" was directed by Mara Whitehead; we chose to have me narrate the song and capture the love story using dancers. You incorporate much of your environment into your music videos and lyrics too! How big of an inspiration are your surroundings to your music? I spend much of my time travelling, an important part of the creative process. I get inspired when I go to new places or step outside my normal day-to-day. Perspective is a big part of the songwriting process for me. A lot of my songs are very personal, but I try to write in a way that can be interrupted by the listener. How would you describe your music to any new listeners? My music is a blend of folk-rock and traditional country music. I’m a songwriter and love weaving stories into my songs. I have a Southern rock influence from living in the South for so long. Still, the other elements of my songwriting and instrumentation come from Appalachia's more traditional folk music, like steel guitars. Give us the Regina Ferguson origin story! How did you first get started on your musical journey? I spent ten years living in South Carolina before I moved to Los Angeles. I got a music degree and worked as a singer in Charleston. My time spent in the South in my formative years greatly impacted me as a performer and songwriter. I grew up in Pennsylvania in a family of 11 children. I always loved singing with my siblings, and I sang in church and loved musical theatre. I’ve been musical my whole life, but I love performing my original music on the stage with a band behind me. It’s so special to make records, play them live, and see your music come to life. What’s next for Regina Ferguson? Can we expect to hear more new music soon? Yes! I will release more singles before my new album drops this Fall. The next single, “Fortune,” will be out on 4/21 and is the title track off my new debut album. I have some exciting shows in Los Angeles in the next few months and plan to tour my album in the Fall. Instagram Facebook

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Valeria; cheers to keeping it real on “TBH,” a very vulnerable and honest song. Can you talk a bit about the process of writing and recording it? Thank you! “TBH” was a little different than my other songs because it changed direction in the writing process a little more than others I have written and co-wrote. I was fortunate to work with some amazing co-writers on “TBH,” which helped to have their different points of view and experiences – it added more depth to the song! Recording “TBH” was also a little unique for me as I live in Texas, but I worked with an awesome producer (also my coach and a co-writer on the song!) in Canada. I recorded my vocals in a super short session at a studio in Dallas, with my producer joining us virtually. The production took place in Canada, with all communication back and forth through the virtual meeting, calls, emails, and texts. The lyrics of "TBH" talk about being in a toxic relationship. Was it difficult to open up about your personal experiences in the song? It’s weird, but no, not really. I get a lot more nervous about whether listeners will like or relate to my story than I do about sharing my experiences. So the difficult part for me is more about making sure that I write and present the experience in a way that will be relatable to as many as possible but still personal. It’s a balance of giving enough detail so they feel something but not so much that it's unrelatable…and not so much detail that anyone can figure out who I am writing about! LOL! It would be difficult to open up about my personal experiences if it was obvious who I was writing about, so I am careful about that. The instrumentation in "TBH" is soulful and enchanting, allowing your vocals to shine. Was that a conscious decision on your part or something that developed naturally during the recording process? Wow – thank you! I guess it was a little bit of both. I’m happy you felt it was soulful, as that is the direction I tend to gravitate toward with my music, so I think that was more intentional with the vibe I wanted for the song. But enchanting (I love that!) …I think that was probably more of something that developed naturally during the recording and production process. 1 of the coolest things about having a producer that is also my coach is that she truly “gets” me – sometimes it is not an instant fit. Still, she knows where to push, pull, or steer me musically and creatively as an artist. And then she magically creates from there – that is probably the enchanting part! Your music often deals with themes of heartbreak and relationships. Do you find it therapeutic to write and sing about those experiences? Oh my goodness! Yes! It is my own personal therapy. I don’t talk about my feelings openly, so I have to write and sing about them to get through them and move past them. Throwing your story and song ideas out to others in a writing session and hearing that you are not alone gives this instant sense of healing – it’s like group therapy! And then it feels like you can let it go and move on from it. It is awesome and, yes, very therapeutic! As an artist, what do you hope to achieve in the future, and how do you see your music evolving from "TBH" and your other previous works? This is always the hardest question for me! I’ve only been writing and releasing music for the past year, so it feels like I am so new to the game to know what I want to do or achieve in the future. I have been so happy with the response to my original music so far - I plan to continue to write and release music. Having ADHD and anxiety, music is necessary for me, and a music career would be an incredible long-term goal! I am unsure exactly what that looks like, but I will keep working on it! For now, I’ll keep performing live, I have a few more singles to release this year, and I have just started working on my 1st EP that will be released next year. Might even put a band together if I can find the time. The response I have received from “TBH” has been awesome, and the most exciting thing about it is that it is just the beginning for me as a songwriter and recording artist! Instagram Facebook

The song's evocative imagery and heartfelt delivery set the stage for the rest of the album, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in Kendyle's world. "BullsEye" follows, starkly contrasting its cool, chopped vocal effects and plucky violin accompaniment. The track's introspective lyrics address the struggle of setting boundaries and finding the strength to walk away from a toxic relationship. The song's emotional crescendo represents Kendyle's ability to weave complex themes with fresh and daring vocal melodies. "Seasons Change" featuring Jahvel Lewis is a magical fusion of funk and 80's nostalgia, with a bouncing bassline that propels the track forward. Kendyle's silky smooth vocals glide effortlessly over the infectious beat, while Jahvel Lewis' crisp rap verse adds a dynamic layer to the track. The album's intricate production, diverse instrumentation, and deeply emotional themes coalesce into a captivating experience that will leave listeners eager to follow Kendyle as she continues to explore new sonic horizons. Welcome to BuzzMusic Kendyle Paige! Cheers to raising the bar with the release of your project 'LADYBIRD' In choosing the title 'LADYBIRD' for your latest album, what significance or symbolism does the name hold for you, and how does it connect to the overarching themes and narratives within the record? Thank you so much for having me! 'Ladybird' is super special. I knew in 2020 that's what I'd be naming my next album. When I started dating my husband in 2018, that was his nickname for me, and I loved it. Flash forward to this year, and it will be our daughter's middle name. She's due this June, so I decided to be pregnant on the cover. I'm so happy with it. 'LADYBIRD' showcases a remarkable range of musical styles and genres. How did the creative process behind this album push you to experiment and expand your artistic boundaries, ultimately shaping the distinct sound of "LADYBIRD?' I've always loved all different genres of music. I grew up listening to the sounds of the 70s with my parents and always loved pop and the punk scene. I met my husband in a metal band we were in and fell in love with the genre. I never wanted to make pop music, you know? I wanted this project to sound like everything I love, so regardless of your mood or feeling, you can listen to a track from 'Ladybird.' The collaborations on 'LADYBIRD' undoubtedly contribute to the album's richness and diversity. Can you share any memorable moments or insights gained while working with the talented artists and producers featured on the record? Every feature of this project is significant. I've known every one of them for several years. Jahvel was my guitarist when I first started gigging back in 2014. He's the reason I believed in my original music in the first place and is the reason I met Brandon Lee Richardson, my producer and feature on track two. Smittie was at my little sister's fourth birthday party and Tone and I went to high school together. They both have always been incredibly talented. Every feature is an artist I've wanted to create with for many years, and when I started to work on this project, I knew it was time. The only exception is the fourth track, 'Hold His Hand,' which features Tioka Troy. Troy is my nephew. I was ten when he was born, and have watched him grow up to love music. He's sixteen now and honestly has real promise. Watching him grow to be a dope human and a flourishing artist has been an honour. I knew he had to be on this project. With 'LADYBIRD' encapsulating various emotions and experiences throughout your life, which track resonates the most with you personally and why? How does this connection to the song influence your interpretation of the album? I think the track I resonate with the most changes a lot. Currently, it's track five, Cynical. Cynical has this hard transition at the one-minute mark that I relate to. It's a song about grieving the lives you could have lived but also looking forward to the future. I think we're all allowed to feel both, and that's a theme in my music, ambivalence. This song amplifies my love for the project as a whole. As 'LADYBIRD' marks a significant milestone and the beginning of a new chapter in your career, how do you envision your future musical endeavours? Are there any specific goals, aspirations, or artistic directions you hope to pursue in your upcoming projects? Honestly, I don't know exactly what my future in music looks like. I know I want to tour, create more and dive into other genres, take my daughter and husband along for the ride, and confidently say I'm just so excited for what's to come. This album has solidified that I'm supposed to be doing this, and I couldn't be more grateful for everyone listening. Instagram Facebook

Their latest single, "Divine," hits heavy from the jump like a razor-sharp fever dream. With Devon Cox's fiery vocals at the helm, the band is ready to melt some faces and capture hearts. The band's charismatic frontman, Devon Cox, speaks to the resilience of the human spirit in "Divine," with lyrics that highlight the trials and tribulations we face in life. Coupled with the musical talents of guitarist Brad Giffen, the song offers a potent combination of hard rock and lyrical depth. As the chords and words unite, "Divine" becomes an anthem for pushing through the darkness and emerging victorious. Produced by the illustrious Steve Molella at Union Sound in Toronto, "Divine" is a testament to the group's electrifying live performances. The track's thundering beats and mighty riffs provide the perfect platform for Cox's dynamic vocals. As he effortlessly transitions from searing verses to soaring choruses, listeners will be left begging for an encore. The driving force behind "Divine" is undoubtedly the relentless guitar work of Brad Giffen. The melodies he rips with an intricate playing style add a layer of complexity to the song, keeping you on the edge from start to finish. The song's tone shifts from heavy and to lets fucking go to melodic and introspective, demonstrating the band's ability to blend these contrasting elements seamlessly. "Divine" is a masterfully crafted rock anthem showcasing Fortunate Losers' talents blending gritty music with powerful, sailing vocals. The song's raw energy and ghostly vocals will have a grasp on you and leave you with your knee bouncing to the beat. With "Divine," Fortunate Losers prove that they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of hard rock. Welcome to BuzzMusic Fortunate Losers! Cheers to dropping such an anthem with your latest single. How did the title "Divine" come to represent the overall theme and message of the song, and what significance does it hold for you as a band? First, we thank Buzz Music for the opportunity and your kind words over our latest single, "Divine." In our choruses, we try to portray the band calling out to all that is Divine in the hopes that one day a higher power will help us through and see us through the most challenging moments we embrace each and every day of our lives. We thought Divine would be a great fit as the track title because of how hard the chorus hits and resonates with the listener. Can you share specific moments or experiences that inspired the lyrics and powerful emotions portrayed in "Divine" and how these experiences shaped the songwriting process? This track shows how difficult the music industry can be for undiscovered independent artists. How mentally trying it is to deal with the workload vs reward. We would like to think that the emotion in the vocal comes from a long history of closed doors, no replies, and an overall disinterest that helps this track scream out emotionally. "Don't leave us behind." As you developed the distinctive sound of "Divine," which elements were most important for you to incorporate, and how did you ensure that the heavy guitar riffs and soaring vocals complemented each other effectively? Brad Giffen (Lead Guitarist, Songwriter) originally brought to life the track. It then went through our pre-production grinder process with Steve Molella (Producer, Drummer Of Finger Eleven) before hitting the studio to lay the bed tracks. We all knew how we wanted this track to sound thick and warm tonality-wise but somehow still inviting at the same vocally. Then we realized that the track's anthemic hook would resonate far beyond the teams' original expectations and that we had to make this one of our leading tracks on the record. In "Divine," the lyrics explore struggle, resilience, and ultimately finding the light. How do you hope your listeners will connect with these themes and apply them to their lives, and what impact do you want the song to have on them? We can only hope that our listeners never lose the will or drive it takes mentally, physically, & emotionally to see their endeavours through to the very end, or at the very least form some closure around things they can't accomplish for whatever reason. If that happens to be the case, a positive mindset and personal perseverance are great tools to start somewhere new and fresh when confronted with one of life's many roadblocks. We know firsthand how frustrating it can be when you've worked so hard for so long over something that is just out of reach and remains that way. On the other hand, we also have been fortunate enough to experience just how good it feels when you do hit your mark or succeed. Everyone should have a chance to share that experience at one point. With the release of "Divine" and the evident growth in your music, what are your future aspirations as a band, and how do you plan to continue evolving and building on the momentum this song has generated? Honestly, upward is always a great way to look at things from our perspective as we gaze upon the intimidating steep face of our mountainside from the shaded valley. We will continue to strive to make the very best decisions and music that satisfy our camp while keeping the music relevant and welcoming in our markets to help keep the listener and us connected to our stories and chapters for years to come. Cheers to hitting the vibe with "Adore Her (Azure Blue Remix)," which has a super catchy, energetic vibe that makes us want to move. Can you share some insights into the songwriting process and how you created such an engaging atmosphere within the song? Bjorn: The foundation for' Adore Her' was created based on a song I made with my 9-year-old sibling Tilda. Appropriately enough, my wife Elisabeth sings backing vocals in the chorus where she sings "getting stronger." My grandfather used to weave juniper baskets and said, "If it cracks, it holds.” Freely translated in the chorus, it became "if it cracks, you know we're getting stronger." The quote also applies to life in general. It’s a pop song dedicated to love and nature, etc. I teamed up with the incredibly talented Swedish indie pop artist Azure Blue to breathe new life into the track. I sent him the backtracks and gave him full creative control to produce something extraordinary. The end result was nothing short of amazing - Azure Blue infused the song with his unique style and creativity, creating a fresh new sound that exceeded my expectations." Azure Blue: I only remix songs. I like to keep most vocals intact and stay true to the original. But I change everything else into my own instruments. I also kept a drum loop and a synth bus for this one. I put a lot of FX on. I used fully analog synths and drum machines to paint my sound. I am so happy Bjorn and his tiny baby liked it. Remixing a song can often lead to surprising discoveries and new interpretations. In the case of "Adore Her (Azure Blue Remix)," were any unexpected moments or revelations that arose during the creative process? Azure Blue: I go with the flow and don’t overthink it. Then when I listen to the original, I get surprised how different it all has gotten. The unexpected part of this collaboration was how Bjorn got me to look even more in-depth into the potential of the remix, so I worked extra hard on all the details in the final mix. And I am glad we did! Your collaboration with Azure Blue on "Adore Her" has been a fruitful one. Are there any other artists or producers you would love to collaborate with in the future to create a unique remix or original song? Bjorn: "I'm always open to collaborating with talented individuals from diverse fields, whether they're established names or up-and-coming visionaries. Brian Eno is one of my personal heroes, whose artistic vision has greatly expanded my perspective on art, music, and life. I'm particularly inspired by his Oblique Strategies cards, which I use daily to spark my own creative impulses. My collaboration with Eno has already begun through my daily use of his innovative methods." The remix features dreamy melodies and sweeping analog synths that give the song a timeless quality. As an artist, what are your thoughts on blending modern sounds with a retro-futuristic touch, and how did this approach influence the creation of "Adore Her (Azure Blue Remix)?" Azure Blue: I think the sound of the 80s is very big right now, and I hope it does not get a backlash afterwards. I used analog synths with the producer of my first two albums as, Azure Blue. Midnight Ruler showed me the way. It’s kind of in his alias. But I have taken it one step further lately, even running the analog instruments through analog outboard preamps and compressors. And ironically, that is very futuristic, looking at today's music production with a craze for vintage warmth. With the success of "Adore Her (Azure Blue Remix)" and your growing domestic and international recognition, what are your plans for the future? Are there any new bodies of work or collaborations that you can share with your fans in the coming up? Bjorn: I aim to create catchy, deep, and beautiful art while seeing it as a chance for personal growth and self-improvement. As Nadia Boulanger said, 'Your music will never be any more or less than you are as a human being.' I strive for more meaningful and impactful artistic expression by continually developing myself. Excitingly, my upcoming single is produced by renowned producer Adam Kagan, who has worked with artists like Kanye West. With a delicate mix of improvised guitar play, harmonica, and analog synths, this pop song has a new flair. Incorporating a divine theme adds intrigue and depth, making it an exciting release for early summer." And I can tell Azure Blue’s long-time listeners that he will drop his sixth album this year! Welcome to BuzzMusic Deuce Mayne! Congrats on another hitter with the visual for “Nervous,” where you've managed to create a seamless blend of nostalgia and a modern vibe. What inspired you to choose the retro theme, and how do you feel it contributed to the song's overall vibe? I have an old soul. I was born and raised in Mississippi, the birthplace of American music & the Blues. I've always been interested in and love old-school music because I grew up around it all my life. The instrumental reminded me of the old days when I was composing this song. I feel like the visual was perfect for the overall song because that was the feel and vibe of the song. It (the visual), in a way, helps reinforce this song's overall retro feel. The collaboration with Futuristic on "Nervous" is smooth and effortless. Can you share your experience working with him and how the idea to feature him in the song came about? Futuristic is a great talent; it was great working with him and experiencing his work ethic firsthand. I feel Futuristic, and I have very diverse styles of rapping. He has always had a somewhat retro identity to his music, and the song seemed perfect for him, so I reached out to see if he would be interested in the collaboration. Like always, he did not disappoint. His verse is classic. The music video for "Nervous" showcases a range of emotions, from vulnerability to confidence. How do you relate these feelings to your experiences, and was it challenging to express them on camera? I recently lost my fiance to Covid19, which was very emotional for me. When making the video, I, in a way, just let go and let all of my emotions out, so it was a natural feeling to do the video shoot. I was nervous around another woman other than my fiance for the first time in 5 years. So it kind of all worked out in seeing the finishing project. In "Nervous," there is a strong emphasis on visual storytelling, particularly through colour and contrast. How involved were you in the creative process for the music video, and what were your favourite elements to bring to life? Fat Belly Filmz shoots the majority of my music videos. I have a great relationship with my videographers, and we have a couple of projects we have collaborated on. In this video, I told them the direction I wanted to go in and let them do a lot of creative thinking. We could shoot the entire video in Futuristic's production studio, which was big, too, as far as using the spaces to create a visual that matches the song's feel. With the future success of "Nervous" and your previous work, what can fans expect from you? Are there any upcoming collaborations, new music, or unique visual concepts you're particularly excited to share with your audience? I am, of course, working harder now than ever. This is only the beginning; expect to hear new music and visuals. I plan to collaborate with more artists of different genres in the near future. I have an album (You Only Live Once Y.O.L.O.) in the works and plan to release it around the end of summer. Fans should be confident that there will be more good music to come. Instagram Facebook

Kudos to letting your heart live on your sleeve on "The Voice of An Enigma," a captivating title that piques curiosity. Can you share the inspiration behind the album title and how it relates to the themes and messages you aimed to convey throughout the project? Thank you very much!! This album was a 3-year process. The title pretty much describes where I currently am in my life. I have embarked on a spiritual journey and uncovered alot of my childhood scars, and new folks often misunderstand me and often some of the existing people in my life. In protecting myself, I have also not shared many parts of myself to avoid judgment. This album was a vehicle to allow people a bit more into my world emotionally and spiritually. I wanted people to understand me a bit more and break the armour I built to feel less puzzling and misunderstood. I am very layered with many interests and feel it is the right time to reveal certain parts of me untouched, evidenced in several tracks such as "Enigma, underdog & blessed." The album chronicles a relationship I was in and my relationship with myself, which is why there are so many themes. With "The Voice of An Enigma" showcasing such a diverse range of musical styles, how did you maintain a cohesive sound while exploring various genres? Were there specific elements you focused on to achieve this balance in your album? I wanted the album to sound like a kaleidoscope of sounds/colours/themes, all while sounding cohesive. Many different types of music also inspire me, so I could not just include one sound. The album's creation began in 2020 during covid, and I was appreciating the classic, retro music that is heavily prominent in the album. I wanted the album to sound timeless yet modern like listeners were reading my journal or sitting in on my therapy sessions. I was also heavily involved in the production, such as producing beats, writing and vocal arrangements. The album also starts with my personal journey, followed by the new love I was experiencing, resulting in a breakup. If you listen to the album, you notice that is the way the tracklist was created. Many of the songs were created in real time during the peaks of valleys of my relationship and the healing I was working on in therapy. My music pretty much became my journal. Whereas my previous work was primarily pop, this album included more hip hop, soul, retrosoul, afrobeats which is my current top genre that I listen to, along with Latin music to touch on my nationality. Being a new yorker, it is a diverse state, and we listen to alot of music, but you cannot escape hip hop. I embarked. As a deeply introspective album, "The Voice of An Enigma" features many personal stories and experiences. Was there a particular track or moment in the album that challenged you the most, either emotionally or creatively, and how did you overcome those challenges? Many tracks were challenging because I wanted to go deeper than ever. I will say the tracks that were emotional and real were this ain't Love as that song was a specific story that was happening in real-time. If you listen closely, you will hear what happened. It also inspired my vocals as I was in pain and flowed out of me. I freestyled in the studio and did not edit it. I wanted the listeners to feel what I felt. I know other folks can relate to the heartbreak and pitfalls of a relationship. I wanted the listener not to feel alone. Also, the intro "Enigma" was challenging as I am usually "Uncomfortable with being vulnerable," a lyric from the song. I thought twice before saying it but decided to keep it as it is real and reflects how I feel. Blessed was another confessional track where I talked about some childhood trauma I had been healing in therapy and learned about my spirituality and love of god. Given the variety of influences in "The Voice of An Enigma," could you share some artists, experiences, or cultural factors that inspired you during the creative process and how they contributed to the album's development? The album that inspired this entire project was Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. I loved how vulnerable and heartfelt this entire body of work is. It inspired me to write about my life in all aspects using retrosoul, and hip hop and later included afrobeats because I also wanted to dance some of the pain away. I wanted people to cry, smile, dance and reflect on this album. Also, the experiences reflected in the lyrics were happening in real-time, so this album is a portrait of my life over the past three years. I'm hoping the next album is a party record because I created 35 songs for this project and felt so close to many of the songs, which is why there are 21 songs. Choosing these 21 songs to tell the story I wanted to convey was hard. I am confident the songs selected allow listeners to know more about me than ever. It's scary yet rewarding, as I never thought I could do a full-length album. Until now, I had only done EP, and this album showed me that I could create a full album from scratch. I have writing and production credits on each track. "The Voice of An Enigma" will undoubtedly strongly impact listeners. As you look to the future, how do you envision building upon the foundation laid by this album, and are there any new directions or themes you're excited to explore in your upcoming projects? I appreciate that! That was my true intention. Whether anyone listened, I am very proud of this work. I would like to continue writing from this place in my music. Also would love to begin writing for other artists I am working on. I am working on a hip-hop remix album of many tracks to show a diff side of the music and working on an acoustic project to strip the music down, as well as my first Latin project. I am inspired during this time and just healing alot of the trauma I experienced early on in my life. I would encourage anyone dealing with trauma to embark on that journey for emotional and spiritual freedom. I would not change a thing and am happy that I have the outlet of music to pay it forward and allow listeners dealing with the same issues to feel less alone. Music has always been my saving grace and best friend at times. I wanted this body of work to feel that way to anyone who also feels like an enigma and is afraid of being vulnerable with others. To pick up even a journal and chronicle their journey. I promise you will not regret it. I would also like to thank everyone that has been reaching out about this album and how vulnerable it is. That truly means the world to me as I put myself into this body of work. This is only the beginning, and I plan on promoting this album and performing these songs in as many places as possible because it is a full glimpse into my life, and I am not afraid to show it any longer.
