  • Gather ’Round, Michelle Fabre Says Its The “Last Chance For Love”

“A good song is a good song in any genre," says singer-songwriter and explorative recording artist Michelle Fabre, who just released her party-starting banger entitled "Last Chance for Love." Michelle Fabre is no stranger to the music scene. She's been singing since the age of 4, landing her on her first national commercial for Eskimo Pie. Having other national spots like Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader, Long Island Aquarium CD, and Sam's Club, Fabre is quickly making it known that she's an artist to keep an eye on. More recently, the in-demand vocalist released her first commercial pop album, Find Your Fire, with 12 explosive songs sure to raise your vibration. Just last month, she dropped a wicked hit and spicy new single, "Last Chance for Love," pumping up the party with her charismatic performance and catchy lyrics you won't forget. Diving deeper into the new single, "Last Chance for Love," we're sonically greeted with Michelle Fabre's bright and beaming vocals alongside this chilling synth-pop production that quickly leaps into a radiant pop anthem with nods to 70s disco. It's an uplifting and vibrant track that sees Michelle Fabre commanding her audience's attention with captivating melodies and groovy sonics. This song is like a blast from the past with modern twists and turns, perfectly mixing synth-pop, funk, disco, and modern pop, while Michelle Fabre keeps the vibe alive with her thrilling performance. This song is an earworm, and you won't be able to shake it from your brain for hours. Let Michelle Fabre transport you to planet party with her fierce new single, "Last Chance for Love," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Michelle Fabre. We love the uplifting and vibrant energy within your hot new single, "Last Chance for Love." Could you describe the moment you felt inspired to create this party-starting, passionate hit? "Last Chance for Love" started with a beat and melody and progressed from there. I felt inspired after a session with a friend on another song we worked on. When she left, I wanted to keep going and felt drawn to writing something lyrically and deeper while also being danceable. What was your goal regarding the overall sound and vibe of "Last Chance for Love?" Did you have any specific genres or styles in mind? The song's goal was to be commercial, top 40 pop with dance/disco sounds that will always have longevity and be loved by the new and old generations. Did you team up with any producers or musicians when crafting the sonics and instrumentals for "Last Chance for Love?" How did your team help bring your vision to life? I have a writing team I work with; it was a trial-and-error process. The main instrument I wanted were strings, which is still happening in today's top 40 pop. But it was a question of either making them too loud or not, how much space they take up and override something else. In the end, I think the strings added a classy overall sound to the pop and dance mix while adding some disco elements. We always listen to everyone song we create on every speaker we can get our hands on. The kick and beat were lively in the car, but we needed to be emphasized the small phone speaker, so for that, the last stage of raising the kick in the mixing and also mastering in it of itself lent itself to also have that strong beat and presence when the verse comes in. What did you want your audience to experience when hearing "Last Chance for Love?" How did you want this song to make them feel? "Last Chance for Love" was created in January of 2022, and it started with a beat and melody and progressed from there. Lyrically and musically, we wanted it to be more sophisticated. Something that would resonate with everyone. It's really about rekindling an old romance but acknowledging the consequences that come with it. The second verse exemplifies when two people end a relationship and find love elsewhere. Everything is great at first in a new relationship, but you always think back to "that one," It makes you question all the 'what ifs' and 'could've beens'. The main concept I tried to portray in "Last Chance for Love" is a love or passion that you give one last shot at; the "give it your all" type of love because it's worth it in the end. It could also be a good message for the holiday season when two people try to rekindle their relationship. Instagram Facebook

  • Wiff Will Get You Rocking With “Earplugs”

From Denver, The rock band Wiff gives us “Earplugs,” a song full of head-banging energy. Wiff is a rock band from Denver, formed when long-time drummer Peter started creating music with his son Quinn. Their project has grown and is making a name in the rock scene. They are Peter Higgins on the guitar and vocals, Quinn Higgins on the drums, Jonathan Snyder on the guitar, and Wes Luna on the bass. “Earplugs” is about a lazy day we all have once in a while. People close to you might judge you when it happens, but taking your time is crucial when making art. Music is no exception, and the results are fantastic. Hit the play button and get ready to rock along. It starts with Peter’s vocals and a fast-paced guitar. It soon becomes a wall of sound with a distorted guitar playing powerful chords. The bass and drums get in, stomping like a cascade. The instrumentals are a charge of energy. Thus, it is climatic when you get to the solo. When you hear “Earplugs,” you can tell that the guys from Wiff are having fun, which is contagious. It has strong vibes from the best of the 2000’s decade, catchy and energizing. The sound runs from your ears to your head and limbs. You can’t help but start moving your feet and bang your head at the compass with “Earplugs.” Put in your earplugs, hit the play button on “Earplugs,” and take out your air guitar. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Wiff. We're wildly impressed with the concept of your recent hit "Earplugs." What inspired you to create this catchy yet meaningful anthem? It’s a song written while I was unemployed, and it’s mainly about the feeling of worthlessness and the mood swings that come with that situation. What was the most memorable moment when making “Earplugs"? I recorded the record mostly by myself. I play everything except bass on Earplugs. In the past, I had done the process of recording drums and then layering on guitars and vocals when recording demos on my eight-track, but never in a real studio. So I wasn’t sure how it was gonna sound in the end. When I started putting guitars over my drum tracks, and it actually sounded good, there was definitely a moment of relief and like, “Ok. This is gonna work.” Could you break down the band's creative process when crafting the dynamic production and instrumentals for "Earplugs?" When I used to record the drum parts first, I would play the songs from memory when recording demos on my own. I felt like the performances always came out a little stiff, though, because I was so focused on remembering the song in my head while playing. So for this record, I settled on recording a scratch guitar and vocal over a generic drum loop and then playing with that to record drums. That worked out really well. It allowed me to practice the drum parts a lot beforehand and also served as a click-track for the sessions. And then, once the drums were done, our old bass player Nick and I could practice the songs along with the actual drum tracks that would be on the record before recording. The whole process was surprisingly smooth, considering I had never done it before. And I think it contributed towards the record sounding like a full band, even though it’s not. What main message did you want listeners to take away from "Earplugs?" I’m not that sure I WANT the listener to take any message. I’m just communicating a feeling. The listener can take it or leave it. But I suppose the lyrical message is: We all sometimes feel like losers. But hang tight; this too shall pass. Instagram Facebook

  • Ready, Steady, Die! Releases A Seasonal Soundtrack, “Darkstar”

As autumn continues to linger, so do the hauntings, gloom, and chill of the season. As an appropriate soundtrack, British-American electronic music duo Ready, Steady, Die! released their bone-chilling new single and accompanying music video entitled "Darkstar." Comprising New York-based Morgan Visconti and London-based Sam K, Ready, Steady, Die! has been flying high since the release of their 2022 album, Accidents. It was a perfect showcase of the duo's near-telepathic musical interplay with a conceptual lyricism that leaves you aching for more. Thankfully, they gave us more. Ready, Steady, Die!'s recently single and music video for "Deathstar" is quite the eerie thrill—horror fanatics will know what I mean. It perfectly represents the darkness, chilling tales, and haunting sensations felt and experienced as we shift into the dark part of the year. Undoubtedly, Ready, Steady, Die! gives us the perfect sound to match the moment. The single "Deathstar" tracks the story of a serial killer through the soothing vocals of Sam K, conveying chilling scenes of her post-mortem thoughts while wishing she could have avoided the tragedies that occurred. The haunting and ghostly production from Morgan Visconti quakes the song with a grim darkness that leaves us crawling with goosebumps. Impressively, the music video for "Darkstar," directed by WeekendClass, is among the first AI-generated music videos to date. The animated clip's collection of AI images grips the viewer into Victorian-era shots, hinting at the tale of Jack the Ripper. The frightening and eerie images follow the song's melancholy lyrics, prompting an uncomfortable yet captivating horror-induced thrill perfect for the season. Give yourself a new soundtrack for the remaining autumn season with Ready, Steady, Die!'s latest single, "Darkstar," and the song's accompanying music video. Find the video on YouTube and the single on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Ready, Steady, Die! We love the eerie and conceptual tale within your new single and music video for "Darkstar." What inspired you to create a song about a serial killer? Sam: Thank you for your lovely comments. How Morgan and I work is one of us will come up with an idea, and the other one runs with it and takes it to the next stage. Morgan sent me this track as a piece of music. He called it Darkstar as a working title. But as the leading lyric writer for RSD, I felt immediately that it had to be about a dark soul and his title inspired the concept. What was your experience working with director WeekendClass for the "Darkstar" AI-generated music video? What was that unique process like? Morgan: Full disclosure: WeekendClass is my director's alter ego. When I’m not working on music, I’m dicking around with Houdini (motion graphics software) and experimental image processing. The mid-journey has only become popular in the last few months, and it immediately presented itself as a medium for my vision – a druggy, painterly, Victorian gothic thriller. Half of the video is made with soft, inky images from Mid journey. The other rapid, morphing faces and exteriors/interiors were done using Stable Diffusion. Both resources are in a very exciting phase of constant development as features got added, so the video evolved. It would be great to work with a production company one day, but one nice aspect of working by yourself is you can drop into an experimental k-hole for a week without accountability to anyone. What did you want the visual for "Darkstar" to make viewers think and feel? Did you want the AI-generated images to convey a sense of uncomfort? Sam: Oh, we’re always looking for ways to make the viewer have a sense of unease. The song is a dark subject matter, and the video absolutely needed to reflect that. Morgan: I had to pull back from making it pure horror (which would be pretty effortless with AI). I wanted the unease to come from the innocence of the settings being slightly off-kilter. Is your duo familiar with creating horror-themed songs similar to "Darkstar"? Is this a common theme for you two? Morgan: ‘Horror’ is an escape from the real-life horrors we witness every day. Case in point – Darkstar speaks to something very sinister that happens today – and we set it in Victorian times to make it less grisly and confrontational. My favorite horror films are also the ones with beautiful cinematography and soundtracks – Annihilation, It Follows, and Mandy. We certainly would love to collaborate on a horror film soundtrack. • See Beauty In Chaos’ Creative Process In The New Documentary, “Unveiled”

Ever wondered what it takes to create an entirely cohesive, conceptual album? Hailing from Los Angeles, songwriter and musician Beauty in Chaos shows us what it takes with the new release of his documentary Unveiled. Beauty in Chaos is the brainchild of guitarist Michael Ciravolo, a New Orleans native based in Los Angeles. He's the president of Schecter Guitar Research and was also the guitarist of Human Drama for three decades while making some impressive collaborations. This time around, Beauty in Chaos and his jam-packed, dedicated team is ready to show you the ropes of what it took to make their album, Behind The Veil, in a new up-close and personal documentary, Unveiled. It explores Beauty in Chaos' creative process and the choice to use an all-female vocal lineup. There are also some features from familiar names like Grammy-nominated producer Michael Rozon, alongside insight and commentary from: Elena Alice Fossi (Kirlian Camera) Whitney Tai Tish Ciravolo Pinky Turzo (Silver Ghost Shimmer) Betsy Martin (Caterwaul, Purr Machine) Cinthya Hussey This intimate documentary deeply delves into how Beauty In Chaos created such a diverse album while showcasing socially, musically, and spiritually relevant music. It's a refreshing look at the contemporary creative process and might teach you a thing or two about how to build a kickass album from the ground up. The new documentary from Beauty In Chaos, Unveiled, was produced by Jammer Direct and GABB Design, currently available to stream on Jammer Direct, with digital streaming platforms coming soon. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Beauty In Chaos. We loved seeing your team break down the entire process of creating your Behind The Veil album in your new documentary, Unveiled. What inspired you to create a documentary around this album? Michael Ciravolo: it was Ryan Martin, CEO of Jammerzine, that suggested documenting the process as we started the album. We had collectively done a rather hastily put together documentary a few years ago called ‘Behind The Beauty – Remixing The Chaos’. We have learned a bit more since then, and we felt this album, with its diverse group of talented female singers, would be perfect for documenting. What does the album, Behind The Veil mean to you? Why was it significant or relevant enough that it needed its own documentary? MICHAEL CIRAVOLO: To me, ‘Behind The Veil’ is our most cohesive album. Six uniquely different singers … each writing about what their beauty and chaos are…. yet, at least to me, beautifully fitting side by side. For those who chose to vest 50 minutes, this documentary film is an in-depth and hopefully inspiring look at what can be created when artists connect for nothing more than the art of making music. I know I can speak for all involved; we are extremely proud of this album. WHITNEY TAI: Behind the Veil is an album about peeling back the layers, shedding wounds, and sharing moments of enlightenment by working through deeply personal experiences. To show there is more than what meets the eye. Each artist discusses soul-baring stories, whether it be an abusive relationship, a suffering loved one or a near-death experience. It only seemed natural this would lead to producing a film that could capture the sacred process of writing and recording with insanely driven individuals. The film showcases the power of teamwork, how making records builds community and that a documentary opening a window into the world of modern record-making can be beneficial to any budding or seasoned artist. What was your experience shooting the documentary with your team, Jammer Direct, and GABB Design? How did they make the experience easier and more enjoyable? MICHAEL CIRAVOLO: When we started working with Whitney on “Orion”, I felt her “Incantation” video was so cinematic and gorgeous that we enlisted her GABB Design team to direct and produce the documentary. GABB directed our first Behind The Veil single, “Orion” with Whitney, then the “Afterlife”’ video featuring my wife, Tish (which is stunning). When I started receiving the footage for the documentary from all six ladies about their songs, I decided I did not want to see any of it prior and turned the editing over to GABB. They have a lot of documentary experience, and if Ryan and I were left to our own devices, we might have made a 3-hour film. GABB made it look and feel like a film that can hold the viewer's attention, and I love the end result. WHITNEY TAI: “Making this documentary with Michael Ciravolo, Ryan Martin, and our GABB team was a beautiful learning experience. Michael is so detail oriented; his ability to rally teams together and execute elaborate plans is how these albums become immersive experiences. What’s also crucial to mention is that Michael and Ryan are very supportive of females in the music industry, and we need this kind of global allyship in such pressing times for women. I hope this piece of film inspires creatives to document and share their processes and encourages women industry-wide to work with teams that promote and advocate for gender equality.” What did you want to get across to viewers when watching the Unveiled documentary? What did you want them to learn or take away? MICHAEL CIRAVOLO: I honestly wanted the viewer to see and feel the heart, soul, and passion that everyone involved put into making this record, especially these six incredible ladies. I urge everyone to read their lyrics, as those are the words and melodies they put over the soundscapes that Michael and I sent them … thus transforming the music into songs. I also ask that everyone dive into their respective bodies of work outside of Beauty In Chaos. You will not be disappointed. WHITNEY TAI: I wanted viewers and music artists to feel how special the process of making a record is with people who share your vision. Because of Michael’s kindness and collaborative intuition, I have a new-found bond with these five amazing women through each of their music and the mutual respect we all share. We rarely see behind-the-scenes footage in such an organized way that links every contributor together despite it being a global collective effort. It’s a wonderful artistic keepsake that we put so much love and time into. Having this time capsule of our music journey immortalized in a piece of cinema is something the BIC family and its fans will always be able to cherish. What's next for you? MICHAEL CIRAVOLO: We just released a new Beauty In Chaos video/single on Halloween. I wanted to get a new song out before the end of the year…. a sort of placeholder as to what comes next for BIC after ‘Behind The Veil’. I took this opportunity to do my first lead vocal on our rendition of Concrete Blonde’s “Bloodletting”. Being born and raised in New Orleans, this song always resonated with me, and I felt it was the perfect All Hallows’ Eve track. We were fortunate to have Mars Williams from The Psychedelic Furs add some amazing saxophone, which gives our version an even more dark-New Orleans-voodoo vibe. Never one to rest, my BIC partner, Michael Rozon, and I have jumped back into the studio to start a new track. I guess my current ‘plan’ is to hopefully release a few individual songs starting in early 2023, with the possibility of them culminating into a physical EP for those beautiful souls that still value the art of music on vinyl and CD. With releasing three studio albums and 3 ‘remix’ albums since 2018, I find the idea of not waiting a year plus to complete a full-length album appealing. There are several singers we have been wanting to work with, along with collaborating again with some BIC alumni! I know the ladies that made this record possible have a lot going on in their world. Whitney is working on her 3rd solo album and is on the ballot for a Grammy nomination this year. The ever-prolific Elena Alice Fossi has released two fantastic albums, a Kirlian Camera and Spectra Paris. Betsy Martin is deep into completing a Purr Machine EP. The amazing Cinthya Hussy is working on her debut solo album, to which I have been privy to hear some songs that I added a bit of guitar too. This will be a great record, mark my words. Ms. Pinky Turzo continues to perform live with El Vez. Finally, my lovely wife, Tish, has joined me, playing bass on stage with Gene Loves Jezebel! Official Website

  • Stilla Comes Back From The “Ashes,” After A Breakup

In her new song “Ashes,” Stilla uses her exceptional vocals and her gift to tell stories to help those going through a burning breakup, as only the best pop songs can do. The Australian artist Stilla knows how to channel the stormy emotions that come after a hard time for the heart. She relies on her emotional lyrics that pair perfectly with her voice, which seems to come from a fairy tale, to create music that uplifts the spirits of those who listen to her songs. “Ashes” sounds dreamy, although it is about how a failed romance can burn you down. But it’s that soft texture of pop and the melodic voice of Stilla that helps you take out those hard feelings, put them in front of you, and swallow them in such a cathartic song. Listening to “Ashes” is like climbing a mountain; at the foot, there’s only a calming piano, then Stilla caresses your ears and spirit with her touching voice while telling her relatable story. Then the guitar and drums play a fast tempo that motivates you to keep going up until you get to the chorus, the top from where you can finally let it out to the winds, listening to Stilla’s high notes that work like an escape for those emotions in your throat. Some people and wounds can take you down, but songs like “Ashes” help express those emotions that burn you from the inside. Open your heart and connect with this story; let it consume you to “Ashes” to heal and come back like a phoenix. Welcome to BuzzMusic Stilla, and congratulations on your latest release, "Ashes." How did making “Ashes” help you heal your heart? Writing songs, in general, is part of my healing process, but Ashes, in particular, was a way of articulating my whirlwind of emotions at the time. Feeling a mixture of anger but lust, and love for someone was hard to put into words, so writing the song helped me move past those feelings. How hard was it to channel that turbulent flow of emotions into “Ashes?” The song essentially wrote itself after a very emotional couple of weeks. So while it was hard to understand what I felt, writing about it seemed easy compared to navigating it in my personal life. What would you like people to feel when listening to “Ashes?” I would love people to feel the same confusion but also the excitement I was feeling at the time of writing the song. I was extremely passionate about this relationship, but it was emotionally exhausting. I think that’s where the sense of relief comes from in the song, just letting it all out. Who are your greatest supporters of making music? All the people close to me are very supportive, family & friends especially. Also, my current team and collaborators are very inspiring and supportive of my work. What's next for you? New music is on the way! I have a new single called ‘Fix Me’ coming out on November 18th, so head over to my socials for more information. I also have releases lined up for the remainder of 2022/early 2023, which I’m super excited about. Instagram Facebook

  • Raise Your Cups With WOLVES In “Pa’ Arriba Pa’ Abajo”

Based in Los Angeles, the alt-pop duo WOLVES gives us "Pa’ Arriba Pa’ Abajo," their most Latin urban release, also known as “The Drinking Song.” WOLVES is a duo of the incredibly talented Marc Avery on the vocals and piano and Sean Carney on vocals, guitar, bass, and keys. Together they have created an alternative pop sound called “Surf Trap.” WOLVES’ songs come from real experiences, which they make relatable and enjoyable thanks to their outstanding musical skills. Marc Avery wrote "Pa’ Arriba Pa’ Abajo" after a trip the duo made to Mexico. The places they visited and the people they met were so enchanting they had to turn it into a song. Thus, they came up with the idea after having some drinks and listening to tons of reggaeton. "Pa’ Arriba Pa’ Abajo" makes it into the Latin Urban genre with its Dembow drums and incredible flow. It starts with a dreamy electric guitar and subtle drums accompanying a chant. A euphoric chorus chanting the title invites you to have a great time with friends, music, and drinks. The beach vibes are high. Marc and Sean’s voices are melodic and seductive. They put you in a chilling mood. The lyrics place you in the story of a night by the beach, meeting beautiful people and dancing close and smoothly. Raise your cups to the sky and move those hips like the waves crashing onto the sand. Play "Pa’ Arriba Pa’ Abajo" to add spiciness to the night. And turn up the volume, life is now. You've added reggaeton to the mix. Who is your musical inspiration or influence from that genre? Honestly, reggaeton has become so popular it’s been hard to miss it and not love it. I (Marc) remember when Daddy Yankee first came out years back, so he has some influence because of his sound and longevity. Nowadays, Bad Bunny is killing it, and we really like his style and flair. Let’s not get it twisted. We aren’t aficionados by any stretch. This is new territory. What comes to your mind when you perform or sing ''Pa' Arriba Pa' Abajo''? Why? The amazing trip to Mexico the band took in the summer of 2022. It’s where the good times and calamities took place to create the seed for this song. I also think about Selena for some reason with the hip movements. Can you share your creative process to write the lyrics to ''Pa’ Arriba Pa’ Abajo''? Of course….I was about to take a shot of tequila in Mexico with Sean (guitar/vocals) and our drummer Johnny, and he began to instruct us on the “Pa’ Arriba Pa’ Abajo” cheers before drinking it. I’ve heard this before, but he put a melody on it this time. I immediately put it in my voice memos and told him not to sing that in front of anyone else. The adventures and scenery on the rest of the trip wrote the rest of the lyrics. Mexico is really vibrant, so it wasn’t difficult. Where do you draw your inspiration to write songs? Was that the case for ''Pa' Arriba Pa' Abajo''? We draw inspiration from all around us. The past, present, and future and everything that falls in between. We love life and all that comes with it. It’s so many amazing emotional colors in life, we have an incredible palette to paint with and we are grateful to do so. The inspiration for this song was definitely the music and nightlife in Mexico. Hearing that booming bass and seeing everyone go wild was big for us!! What's next for you? We have more music on the way! We are always in the studio, and when we aren’t doing that, we are probably working on coming to a city near you. We have some dates put together and will keep you posted as to when everyone can come to see us!! Until then, listen for new music! Instagram Facebook

  • Sink Deep Into Ila Barker’s “Fool Under Water”

Winnipeg-based Anishinaabe singer-songwriter and folk-soul recording artist Ila Barker takes us into the depths of reflection with her recent single, "Fool Under Water," from her forthcoming album of the same name. Ila Barker has amassed a loyal fanbase who constantly return to experience the Canadian artist's thoughtful lyricism and stunning vocals that are equally as chilling as they are relatable. With a handful of impressive festival performances and gigs around Canada, Barker is eager to continue connecting with listeners through authentic emotion and compelling songwriting. The indigenous recording artist is ready to release her forthcoming album, Fool Under Water, in honor of her metamorphosis into the musical powerhouse she's grown to be. The album's title track is especially meaningful, representing how toxic relationships can often feel like drowning. The lead single, "Fool Under Water," opens with the softest acoustic and electric guitars that float into the harmonious first verse, where Barker takes us into her personal troubles with abusive relationships. Her soft-spoken vocals on the verse slowly expand on the chilling hook, sending chills up the spine with such vulnerable and compelling lyrics. Ila Barker impressively shows us how water can be calming and beautiful, but it contains a power that runs far deeper than the eye can see. Similar to toxic relationships, which start with a whirlwind romance and can quickly turn as dark as the midnight ocean. The heavy-hearted and gripping outro closes the song with vast introspection, making listeners think twice about what true love looks like. There's so much emotion and heart to experience in Ila Barker's recent hit, "Fool Under Water." Find the breathtaking song and Ila Barker's new Fool Under Water album on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Ila Barker. We're so impressed with the vulnerability and emotion in your new album, especially on the title track, "Fool Under Water." What inspired this theme of comparing toxic love to drowning? That line, “fool underwater,” was something my friend and the co-writer of this song, Hera, said when we were sitting around one day, and she was describing the toxic and abusive relationship she was trapped in. She called herself this, and it was unbelievably poetic. We quickly started writing this song as soon as she said it. It was tragically beautiful. How do the themes of water and natural elements tie into the album, Fool Under Water? What is their significance in this project? The more I thought about this concept over the years I realized how much this was meaningful to me too. Water is often a safe place for me, comforting, calming, and fun. I love to swim and surf, and I’m very comfortable in the water. But there is a power there, too, that has to be respected and considered. Much like abusive relationships, they don’t usually start all dark and stormy. At first, they are as magical as paradise and a sunny beach with an inviting ocean. But quickly before you know it, the tide can turn, and you’re trapped, struggling to keep your head above water. You hold onto the good memories of what you thought this experience could be (the water was so nice, though), and you can keep yourself somewhere you don’t belong. Could you tell us more about the upcoming music video for the single "Fool Under Water"? What sort of visual experience should we expect? I flew my videographer and myself to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and we filmed this on the beach and primarily underwater! Creating this was a dream come true, like, come on! Filming Fool Under Water actually underwater?? It certainly was really difficult, though. There were lots of jellyfish, and swimming in a wedding dress was very tiring. I also had to train to hold my breath underwater for this so we could get these shots. I’m so excited to share it with you all! What does the album mean to you? Would you say this is the most personal project you've created? This album means sticking up for myself, reclaiming my power, releasing my ex's grip on me, and choosing to move forward. This is an incredibly personal project, and it was really scary making the decision to publicly tell this collection of stories. There are deep layers in it, too, though. There’s also a song about my friend Kelly who passed away from suicide, and a love letter to my now partner asking for a safe place to land and to not break my heart because I couldn’t take any more heartbreak. So it really is a deep dive into my diary from the last several years. Instagram Facebook

  • The Sound Of Monday Is “The Keeper Of The Mood”

Dave Jay Gerstein knows how to put on quite the show. You might know him better as The Sound of Monday, who just released another conceptual and captivating new music video for his recent single, "The Keeper of the Mood." The man, singer-songwriter, and musician behind The Sound of Monday never fails to grab the listener's attention. Gerstein's sound is reminiscent of the Attractions, an '80s David Bowie, and The Beach Boys. We had the pleasure of experiencing The Sound of Monday's creative and charismatic ways in his recent single and music video, "The Keeper of the Mood." A Derek Taylor inspired the title quoted in The Beatles Anthology, "I think there are still people out there who linger on after the mood's gone: the keepers of the mood." The Sound of Monday saw himself in that quote as he held on to an unhealthy relationship while remembering what it once was. We are all keepers of the mood and memories from times we wish to relive or forget. The new music video for "The Keeper of the Mood" takes a more spirited and metaphorical approach, directed by Anthony Sabino. As Gerstein is tied in front of a television and held hostage, the scene switches to his black and white suave performance to fuel viewers that familiar The Sound of Monday energy. It all looks playful, but Gerstein's lyrical meaning runs incredibly deep, backed by many props and effects to emphasize his many metaphors. It's a profoundly conceptual and mesmerizing visual that acts as another stellar addition to The Sound of Monday's catalog of thrilling music videos. Let's face it, we all wish to forget or relive memories of the past. Catch The Sound of Monday brings this theme to life in his latest single and music video for "The Keeper of the Mood," now available on YouTube. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, The Sound of Monday. We love the relatable and reflective concept within your recent single, "The Keeper of the Mood." What inspired you to create this dynamic and conceptual song? It’s good to be back, thank you. We love what you’ve done with the place! The concept came from my interest in and love for The Beatles. In the mid-90s, The Beatles released "Anthology," in which they (and their closest friends & colleagues) told their entire riveting story. I bought the VHS tapes (later DVDs) and accompanying mammoth coffee table book, full of direct quotes (which later helped fuel my one-person show, "johnpaulgeorgeringo," Winner, Outstanding Solo Show, NY International Fringe Festival). When things were falling apart for them in the late '60s, and Lennon brought in manager Allen Klein (to Paul's dismay), it shook things up. Their Press Officer, Derek Taylor reaction held a sentiment that resonated with me. Moreover, his phraseology struck me as poetic, relatable, and to the point: “Allen changed a lot at Apple. He was a massive presence when he was in town. He had an office right opposite mine, and it shows how cracker I was that I carried on as I was carrying on. I wouldn’t do it now; I’d be far too nervous. But I was fuelled by the certainty that if I was still employed there, then I had this other function: I was still representing, if you like, ‘the old days.” There are still people who linger on after the mood’s gone: the keepers of the mood.”I took his line about being "keepers of the mood" and immediately wrote a song about my flailing up & down passionate relationship at the time (noticing how I generally hold onto the nostalgia of the past), and wrote what would become our latest single, "The Keeper of the Mood." Could you break down the meaning behind the various scenes in your music video for "The Keeper of the Mood?” What was the significance of the hostage and the mime? The hostage is a prisoner of the past, and he’s forced to relive prior experiences whether it does him good or not. The mime represents the silent walls that put the hostage’s love in escrow. You didn’t ask about this one, but I’m on a roll… The mad scientist has to do with the mood-altered chemicals that change brains; incidentally, it was a fun character to portray! Well, that’s how I read it. The beauty is that you can interpret it any way you’d like. You might decide that every character in this thing is a “Keeper of the Mood.” I can’t take credit for the rich imagery this video boasts. After reading the script by the vid’s director and cinematographer, Red Lamp Media’s Anthony Sabino, in all honesty, I had to ask him the same thing. He patiently explained that he was interpreting each line of lyric and creating an image conjured by his imagination. Once I’d thought about the words in the song held up to each photo, it began to make complete sense. I love his cinematic interpretive experimentation. The result is a fun video for all to enjoy. What was your collaboration with director Anthony Sabino when creating the music video for "The Keeper of the Mood?” Anthony and I worked well together. I gave him the keys to the video kingdom and let him do what he wanted with the production, only informing him that if he saw fit, I am an experienced character actor with a passion for doing it. He came back with kooky mime and a mad scientist, among others. It was a long day’s shoot, but I reveled in that element. What feelings or thoughts do you hope to evoke in listeners with "The Keeper of the Mood?” How do you want this song to make them feel? The song grooves, thanks to our EP’s producer, Danny Weinkauf (They Might Be Giants), and is about my aforementioned penchant for holding onto the past, good or bad, with an extreme nostalgic bent. I tend to see glory days through rose-colored eyeballs and long for moments that can no longer be, if only for a chance to either relive something special or change course and alter the trajectory—a pipe dream inner pipe bomb. I would be delighted for the song to find like-hearted people who can relate to a desire for the appealing segments of yesteryear, who smirk knowingly, with a skip in our collective step. The most humbling and meaningful compliment would be for those who dig it to relate to this and the rest of our voluminous catalog. What's next for you? I’m going to get some sushi. I can’t get anything pertinent done when I’m this hungry. We’re based in NYC but just returned from LA, where we spent a week with producer Charles Newman at his Cottage Sounds studio. We produced some excellent new recordings, both covers and an original, to follow up the remarkable success we’ve had with our version of “Spiderman Theme” (well over 6 million streams and quickly rising). We also took meetings with colleagues to explore joining forces on upcoming multimedia projects. We’ve got a bunch of recordings in the can and are planning releases for 2023, as well as a bunch of other cool surprises…For all the thrill your adrenaline can muster, please join our *J’Blammo Pop journey! Welcome to BuzzMusic, Jess Debenham. We truly admire the passion and devotion you've showcased in your heartfelt new single, "Great I Am." What inspired you to write a song about the astonishing power of the Holy Spirit? Thank you! I was blown away by the incredible truth that the Holy, almighty, powerful, creator God who reigns above all is amongst us. I wrote multiple songs about this truth before this one. As you read through the Old Testament of the Bible (the part of the Bible before Jesus came to earth), you read of the procedures and rules that they had to keep to come near to God because if they didn’t, they would die. Only once a year could a high priest enter the Holy of Holies. And when God meets Moses at the burning bush, God says, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” (Exodus chapter 3 verse 5). And then, later on, when Moses asks God what he should say God’s name is, God, replies: “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” We then get to the New Testament, where we read of when Jesus came and the early Church, and in the book of Hebrews (chapter 16 verse 4), we read: “Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Because of Jesus, through Jesus and the victory, He won for us at the cross paying for our sins; where once we could not freely draw near to the great I AM, now we can come near and not just that but with confidence and boldness! The curtain that once separated the Holy of Holies, God, from the people was torn from top to bottom when Jesus died. Jesus is the way to enter! God is still just as holy as He was in the Old Testament. It is not as if He has become less Holy or more lenient. Not at all! But rather - and this is mind-blowing - God the Son came down and paid for our sin (which separated us from God), so now, if we accept Him, our sin is taken away, and we are accredited Jesus' perfection. We can come near to the Holy God and know Him as Father and know Him with us by His Holy Spirit. This was God’s plan all along. This is the truth I was living with when I wrote this song, which inspired this song! I also just craved to sing a song about who He was, so verse one also came from that place. What sound and atmosphere did you have in mind for the instrumentals within "Great I Am"? How do these instrumentals enhance your lyrical message? I wanted the sound to be beautiful, majestic, and cinematic! And the use of multiple vocal tracks to represent the Church. I enjoy working with Luke Fellingham - he is the one who has produced all of these songs. As an actor and performer (as well as a singer/songwriter), I love telling a story through my voice and often have images in my head when I think of the song. Luke has a gift for communicating and telling stories through instrumentation, and it is a joy to work with him. The gentleness of the voice trying to communicate the awe and beauty of God; the unity of multiple vocals to represent all His people, His bride, His Church; when the guitars kick in heavier in the second half of the middle 8 to represent the power and sheer epicness of God and for that truth to sink into the hearts of His people and excited and encourage them as they follow and obey Him - this great, awesome God is the one who is in and with me, whatever may come I don’t need to be afraid because He is with me. Speaking of your lyricism, what was your songwriting process like for "Great I Am?" What was the core theme or message you needed to get across? I remember sitting in my room with the guitar and singing this song. It was about four years ago! So this song has existed for a while and has been one I have enjoyed worshipping to myself. I wrote most of the song like that (in my room with my guitar!). But then, once I had the rough song, I took it to my friends Anna and Jotham, who made some suggestions, one of which was to change it from “the great I AM is here with me” to “us”. I then went away, worked on it further, and took it to Rachel, who helped develop some lyrics. When I knew I wanted to release it, I took it to some more friends who checked it theologically and made further suggestions to strengthen the lyrics. Larissa helped come up with some lyrics, especially for the second-half midsection. So that was the journey of this song. Regarding the core theme and message, I may have already answered that in the first question, but it would be for the Church to be undone again by the truth that the Holy God is with us. What impact did you want to leave on your audience with "Great I Am"? How do you want this single to affect your listeners? I pray people would be left undone and in awe of our Holy God and His presence. And to be encouraged as they go into their days knowing the truth that this is the God that dwells in us by His Holy Spirit, to raise faith and expectation to be bold and pray for miracles, see God move, and see the Kingdom of God come in their village/town/city, for the Church to rise up in confidence, knowing who is amongst them, working in and through them.
