  • Enter The "Metaverse," With Allmillz Latest Hit

Music has provided an instrumental foundation for Allmillz throughout his life thus far. Having a dream about a world in which he could create music and help others create and contribute to the culture, he holds this mission dear to his heart. It began with his online show Slow Jamz Sundays, where he highlighted slow tempo hits, hidden gems, and classic R&B and Hip-hop songs that eventually took Allmillz down the avenue of podcasting. The Night Cap became a show where Allmillz invited weekly guest hosts to discuss topics in the music industry, pop culture, and other current events. From evolving into the Olympus World Media brand, Allmillz has seen many accolades in his career, including winning Best Hip-Hop music video at the 3rd annual Canadian Independent Music Video Awards for "Mysterious Vibes." Now taking our attention to his recently released record, "Metaverse," Allmillz intrigues our curiosity with the lo-fi-inspired instrumentation. Bringing life to a concept that usually floats in a realm of laidback gracefulness, the enticing component of the drum patterns have us engaging in an energy that's a cut above the rest. Additionally, there's pure beauty in the vocal delivery that Allmillz professes. Buying into each word he performed, it's easy to get washed into the mesmerizing tenors that Allmillz has locked into place. As we scan the intoxicating soundscape for the intricate elements to jump out at us, there's an abundance to take in. Our scan through the masterpiece isn't so much us looking for innovative pieces to latch onto, but these unique traits are grasping onto us as we consume the brilliance before us. Taking his artistry to the next level as we eagerly await his next move, a track like this will have us singing along and ready for what's next to come. Take in this textured dimension of musicality for yourself as you listen to "Metaverse" on all streaming platforms today. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Allmillz! We love the entire concept of your track "Metaverse." Was there a particular moment or story that inspired this track? The song concept was inspired by the discussion that was happening online about whether NFTs and the Metaverse are good for the future or bad. Seeing the back and forth online of people giving their opinions on the topic, it inspired the song and it acknowledges the idea of Web3 but also that no virtual reality will be better than the real thing, a real connection with someone. We know how specific releases can bring up a sea of feelings within artists. How does it feel to have this particular song out to the public? The feelings I have about this release are a little nervous but excited at the same time. This is a new sound I am diving into with this single and I am intrigued to see what the response will be and what new fans will gravitate to it. What do you want "Metaverse" to say about yourself as an artist and individual? I want this single to showcase that I am not afraid to try something new as an artist. I want to show my versatility and growth as an artist and songwriter. I am willing to experiment and push my sound to places that people wouldn't expect from me. What has been the best advice you've applied to your music career thus far? Make the music that you would want to hear. Talk about the topics you would want to hear or that you feel are lacking from the music industry. Most times if you are thinking about it someone else around the world can relate to how you are feeling. What's next for you? Continue to release singles, live performances, and events that could push my brand and my music. INSTAGRAM

  • Aaron Sand Delivers Pure 'Introspection,' In His Debut Album

Coming in hot from Westchester, New York, is a singer-songwriter, actor, model, and dancer Aaron Sand with his long-awaited debut 7-track album, 'Introspection.' When it comes to Aaron Sand's broad and dynamic sound, you never know what to expect, as he's best known for traversing experimental compositions from pop, rock, alternative, electronic, and more. Listeners are bound to feel intrigued by Sand's distinct vocals, meaningful lyrics, and symbolic artistry. Now releasing his vibrant debut album, 'Introspection,' let's see what Sand brings to the table this time around. Jumping into the new record, we hit play on the introductory track and previous single, "Body On Mine," which slowly opens with sunrise-like synth arrangements that slowly increase in vibrance and energy. Once the muffled pop drums pour in, so does a squeaky brass-like synth that continues driving the energy forward. Listening to Aaron Sand's warm and melodic vocals, he passionately sings of yearning to be around a certain someone and describes the lustful and sensual scenes that he can only picture until it's a reality. Moving into track number two, "The Cycle," this piece opens with a soft and soothing acoustic guitar melody that slowly opens into this refreshing rock/r&b space through tender electric guitar riffs and jazzy drum arrangements. Aaron Sand takes this track to make it known that his heart isn't one to play around with and although he gave someone chances time and again, it's clear he's better off solo. We love the honesty and independent power Aaron Sand delivers in this piece; it perfectly balances the album with this upbeat anthem for self-sufficiency. Onto another previous single, the album's third tune, "Funhouse Games," explodes open with a gritty and heavy rhythm guitar riff that moves over into a steady, anticipation-filled drum arrangement. As Aaron Sand begins vocalizing the pain someone caused him and their wishes to leave him shattered, Sand ramps up the energy to firmly deliver themes of inner-power and distaste with playing these "Funhouse Games" within a relationship. We appreciate the animalistic and angsty approach Sand has taken with this track; it truly helps us understand his broad musical abilities even further. The album's fourth track and halfway point, "Pass By Me," slows things down with a tender and delicate r&b-like guitar arrangement that dances through our speakers with some heavy Maroon 5 vibes. As the upbeat drums and percussion begin tapping through our speakers, Aaron Sand begins opening his heart and wondering why he let someone so special pass him by. This soulful and tranquil ballad is bound to lift the spirits of any listener, and we're sure Aaron Sand's subtle scatting and rhythmic vocal delivery will add to the overall harmonious and delicate experience. Keeping the downtempo groove alive is track number five, "Don't You Let Me Go," which opens with a dreamy lead guitar riff alongside soul-soothing drum breaks and Aaron Sand's bright and lush vocals. While singing of those gut-wrenching moments within a relationship that separate both parties with anger and frustration, Aaron Sand makes it clear that he's not done just yet. Before we know it, a deeply passionate and captivating rapper makes his way in to add to the album's soul and emotion while closing the song on a note of devotion and faith. Channeling some heavy rock energy is the album's sixth track, "Halfway Broken," which pierces open with a melancholy rhythm guitar riff that quickly takes off into a vibrant and colorful alt-rock arrangement. Aaron Sand takes us by the hand and guides us down the relatable and emotional path of confusion within a relationship and feeling it tear apart at the seams. Sand makes crucial realizations in this track, like knowing when to admit he's wrong, and the thrilling rock instrumentals perfectly emphasize those difficult internal moments. Closing off the listening experience with the seventh track, "Missing Piece," this dreamy tune begins with an ethereal electric guitar riff alongside Aaron Sand's gentle vocals. He softly sings of the long and tiresome journey towards self-love and finally finds it with help from his "Missing Piece," helping him realize how special and unique he really is. This song perfectly represents the culmination of such a dynamic album that explored loves peaks and valleys, and if one thing's for sure, Aaron Sand isn't going anywhere now that he's finally found someone who fits his complex puzzle. Experience pure 'Introspection' like you never have before with Aaron Sand's dynamic 7-track album, now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Aaron Sand. Congratulations on releasing your incredibly personal yet groovy new album, 'Introspection.' What was the main source of motivation or inspiration behind this record? What compelled you to create it? Thank you for having me. So "Introspection" was written over the course of the past couple of years. It was supposed to be a completely different album with an entirely different tone when I first got started, and it wound up naturally developing into what it is now. I went through a ton of abuse growing up, and now that I'm an adult, I've really just been on this journey of finding myself these past few years. I wrote each song at a different point in that journey. So this album is really about the abuse I went through and my journey of self-discovery since gaining control over my own life. This album tells a story (as does each song on it.) There's so much meaning behind everything. Every tiny detail - the looks in the videos, single covers, and album covers; the color & fonts of the text used, little messages in the background, shots in the videos, the locations in the videos, the effects on how I sound, etc. - there is meaning & message behind it all. Everything is well thought out and means something. I don't really think there was anything specifically compelling me to create it, nor do I think there was any specific source of inspiration. I can definitely get more into specifics when it comes to the songs on the album, but the album as a whole, I'd say, is really just inspired by my life, and it just naturally came together. What impact or effect do you want the album 'Introspection' to have on listeners? Did you hope to evoke a sense of reflection or 'Introspection' in your audience? I actually never even thought about it evoking that in people, but now that you mention it, I definitely hope it does. The impact I'm really hoping to have, however, is for the album to let people know they aren't alone, bring awareness to larger topics and issues, and ultimately help people and make a difference in this extremely messed up world. I really want my music to draw out the emotion in people and really make them think. I'd love to be able to make a difference and change people's lives for the better… that's the ultimate goal at the end of the day. That's what I hope to achieve, not just with this album… but with every work of art I create. Who was the featured rapper on track number five, "Don't You Let Me Go?" What made you want to add his verse to this tune? The featured rapper was Cye TheGod. I actually wanted to get someone else on it originally… however they weren't responding, and I was already working with him cause he owned the studio I was recording at, so I figured I'd ask him to do it, and he agreed. It worked out well and actually wound up being one of my favorite tracks on the album. Did you work with any other artists or producers when navigating through 'Introspection?' Who else helped shape the album? Yes, I did. So like I said before, Cye actually owns the studio I recorded at (WAWG Studios in Westchester, NY). Cye also helped with location scouting and directing for the music videos, and his team was very much involved as well. Jay Thompson did photography, videography, and editing, and Rockey Vushaj (who also goes by Rroku and runs RV. Productions) not only helped Jay out with some of the videography, but he also created all the beats and did all the mixing and mastering. Do you have a favorite song from 'Introspection?' What makes that song stand out to you? I actually have two favorites. The second single, "Funhouse Games," is my all-time favorite on the album because of just how personal it is to me. Every song on this album is extremely personal… but that one especially. I wrote it about the abuse I went through growing up and the way that my mother had me severely drugged up and used a very messed up system against me. My own mother was so willing to destroy my life for her own personal gain, and this song is about how I'm absolutely no longer putting up with her crap. It's about how she no longer has any power over me, how this is my life, and I'm taking it back and coming out on top. My second favorite is "Don't You Let Me Go," which is about an extremely dysfunctional relationship where you're fed up, but you don't want to leave. It's about loving someone so much that you can't seem to stay away from them (despite what you might go through when you're with them). This is something I feel like a lot of people can relate to - that realization that you need to leave, but that feeling of "what if?" - that fear of not being with them anymore, combined with that hope that maybe, just maybe, they'll change for the better. What's next for you? Well, currently I'm looking for new management. I really need a team behind me who takes me seriously as an artist, trusts my vision, and is willing and ready to help me achieve the things I want to achieve and bring my visions to life. Once I've got better management behind me, I'd like to start booking more shows and interviews and get my name out there more as an artist. I'd also love to potentially get signed to a label, although I have concerns when it comes to that because I don't ever wanna be controlled or held back as an artist. I'm praying that the right management and label will come along when the timing is right. Until then, I'm doing what I can to manage myself and book shows and interviews on my own. I'm also almost done writing my second album already, so I'm looking for producers to help me with putting my songs to music and studios in NYC to record. I also intend on this second album being much darker and way more rock & roll driven. Instagram

  • Shawn Shows Us Exactly What "JukeBox Love" Is

Shawn was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and at a very young age, he and his mother moved to Florida, before they were headed to New Jersey. He has a double major in Journalism, and Media Studies and a double minor in Social Justice and Philosophy. While receiving his degree, music still played an essential role in his life. Shawn performed at open mics and also did spoken word at the on-campus Verbal Mayhem organization on Wednesday nights. After undergrad, he went straight to graduate school at NYU. Shawn mentions how music has kept him going and has kept him grounded as he deals with health issues and regular life. He is constantly working on being a better singer and artist overall! Shawn introduces us to "JukeBox Love" with some breathtaking production and dazzling vocals. He mentions that his mind is like a JukeBox - with so many thoughts, memories, and aspirations, he sometimes feels like it's all happening out loud, hence the lyrics "Please pardon my jukebox brain." He sings with feel-good energy and has a unique cadence and an added r&b aura. Shawn compliments this production so effortlessly with his bold vocals, and it's the perfect catchy chorus that has us lost in time. He talks about how he would like to make amends with someone he's lost touch with and hopes to make amends. He talks more about this person and their relationship as he says, "Never thought that you'd give me a 2nd chance" and "But your hand in mine damn it fits like a glove." As we come to an end of this epic record, "JukeBox Love" ends like a classic r&b record definitely should. With the soft pianos and steady snapping, he ends off with the infamous line "Thanks for pardoning my jukebox," and he knows it will definitely be playing on loop in our head. "Jukebox Love" is an amazing record! What message would you like people to take away from the song? Thank you for saying that "JukeBox Love" is an amazing record. I wrote this song like all of my songs, straight from the heart. The woman of my dreams, my Fiance Ashley Jackson, was a big inspiration for this track. Basically, we have been together just about three years on and off, and it was mainly because we both had individual growth to do. I know she is my twin flame and my "JukeBox LovE" is about the time I stepped out on our relationship. By stepping out, I don't mean physically cheating, but I was emotionally cheating by connecting with these other females. That's where the line "a different rhythm for every girl I meet" comes from. However, flash forward to now, and although we have our ups and downs, I know Ashley is the love of my life and my future wife. Hence why I say in the song that I will be paying her back in PERPETUITY. I owe her because I lost my voice when I transitioned from Female to Male, and she helped me find my voice no my SOUL again. Also, she is a singer as well, but she only sings for me, but who knows? I hope to get her in the booth for a duet one day when the world is ready for us to combine forces. Honestly, though, she is amazing with words, and she has helped me bounce ideas off of her countless times and has even helped me write some lyrics. Okay, that's enough of me gushing about her. Nah, who am I kidding? I love her with all of my heart, and then some I dedicate "JukeBox LovE" to my LOVE, Ashley Jackson. What skills have you learned that help you in your singing and creating of music? Honestly, I am self-taught, and I play multiple instruments. These instruments include the guitar, drums, and a little bit of piano. I have also dabbled in the flute and the violin, but I mainly love beat making. I have a lot of equipment that helps make me a better musician. This equipment ranges from different types of microphones as well as my Akai mpk mini and my loop pedal. Basically, if there is a sound to be created, then I'm going to find it, create it, amplify it, and then remix it times 1,000. What would you do differently if you were to start over again from day one? If I was to do anything differently, I would have gone straight into the music industry right out of high school. You see, my grandmother brought my mother and me to this country when my mom was 17 years old and I was only four months old. I was raised by both of them, two strong black Caribbean women. They instilled the importance of getting an education, so I made sure I was the first in my family to get a high school degree, and I graduated at the top of my class. I was even class president. Then I topped that by graduating first in my family with an undergraduate degree, a double major in Journalism and Media Studies with a double minor in Social Justice and Philosophy from Rutgers University. Then I followed that up by getting a Master's Degree in not 1,2 but 3 areas. I graduated from NYU at the top of my class with a Master's Degree in Media, Culture, and Communications. Also, I was the Valedictory Student Speaker, and you would think after all of this, I would feel fulfilled, but something was missing. It was the music, the music in me was always there, but it was time for it to shine. So if I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't change anything because the roads less traveled I have taken allowed me to make cultured and experienced music. The life I've lived makes me a more meaningful artist. What's next for you? I have a love-hate relationship with this "what's next for you" question. I honestly don't know, but I do know that I'm always in competition with myself. I'm just never satisfied. So what's next for me "Shawn" I honestly don't know, but I can tell you that whatever it is, it will be NEXT LEVEL! I don't know how to do it any other way. instagram.com/shawnb2real

  • John Conlin Brings Back 2010s Pop In, "It Doesn't Matter"

Taking his talents from Toronto to Los Angeles is singer-songwriter and self-proclaimed hopeless romantic John Conlin with his vibrant pop single, "It Doesn't Matter." After landing in Los Angeles from YYZ, Conlin made a name for himself with his unique technicolor electropop sound that never fails to fill listeners with vibrant emotion to dancing the night away. His inspirations mainly stem from early 2010s pop that took over the world with excessive synth use and maximalist production. Now, John Conlin revives that era in time with sweet new singles like "It Doesn't Matter." The song perfectly captures that 2010s 'love conquers all' notion alongside the artist's agile vocals and his perfect use of 80s sound effects. The massive beat and shimmering synths are bound to make you loosen up to move and groove. Jumping into the new tune, "It Doesn't Matter," we're instantly taken into the technicolor world of John Conlin through his stunning synths and driving beats that open the song like a bright ray of sun. As he playfully makes his vocal appearance, Conlin expands on the many trials and tribulations he's experienced with someone special but forgetting them just to let loose and have fun for one memorable night. This song is incredibly infectious, and we can't help but tap our toes when listening to the many synth layers, harmonious background keys that liven the nostalgic feel, and Conlin's carefree vocal performance. We truly feel like we've rewinded a decade when experiencing this feel-good tune, and we're sure our readers will appreciate how Conlin revives such a defining era in music. Welcome to BuzzMusic, John Conlin. We want to start by thanking you for taking us back to 2010s pop with your recent single, "It Doesn't Matter." When did you feel inspired to create this nostalgic and exhilarating song? The pandemic was such a turning point for me as an artist. I went back to the drawing board in terms of rediscovering my sound, and I knew that I wanted to go in a more dance and feel-good direction. There's something so captivating about the early 2010s pop landscape. The synths were massive, the hooks would get stuck in your head for days, and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to create music reminiscent of that era. I know it wasn't all that long ago, but I feel like mainstream music has evolved and shifted so much in such a relatively short period of time that was going back to the early 2010's already has a tinge of nostalgia tied to it. Did you have any musical influences in mind when navigating the lively and nostalgic sonic atmosphere for "It Doesn't Matter"? I turned to two of my favorite icons when it came to creating the sonic landscape for "It Doesn't Matter": Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. There was such a carefree attitude to Gaga's The Fame record, especially with "Just Dance" that I totally pulled inspiration from. And when it comes to Katy, Teenage Dream is practically the pop Bible for production, hooks, and catchiness, and I made it a mission to make "It Doesn't Matter" as big, ear wormy and epic as possible. Do you usually write such high-energy and danceable songs that encourage the listener to let loose, similar to "It Doesn't Matter"? Yes, I'm never one for subtlety! I describe my music as maximalist; I love having tons of elements and numerous vocal layers stacked on top of each other. I love having my choruses sit in a much higher vocal register than my verses because it adds this sense of urgency and emotion from me as a singer. I feel like having a wide variety of music moving parts supports the catchy hooks I write and only furthers its emotional delivery and danceability. On a more personal note, why do you feel so drawn and inspired by the 2010s pop era? Which artists helped define your love for that sound? That whole era of music was so important to me as an adolescent. I would always go home and watch music videos from my favorite stars and try to learn the choreography. I remember having the "Bad Romance" video saved and downloaded to my iPod touch and constantly watching it as I walked home from school. There was such a big presence in the way music sounded. The way artists performed…it all felt like this important spectacle, and I'd just eat it all up. Other than Gaga and Katy, I also really loved, and still love, Justin Bieber and Rihanna. My World 2.0 was always on heavy rotation, and Rihanna's Loud is literally one of the all-time best dance-pop records. INSTAGRAM

  • Rob Roth Lays It All On The Line In A New EP, 'Sink or Swim'

Athlete turned recording artist and singer-songwriter Rob Roth makes it clear he's here to stay with his new 5-track EP, 'Sink or Swim.' With no prior experience in singing or songwriting, Rob Roth saw a handful of injuries from decades of being an athlete, which led him to his final ACL surgery. He saw this as an opportunity to obtain a more positive outlook on life, resulting in his newfound music career, which Roth attests saved his life. Now releasing his personal and diary-esque new EP, 'Sink or Swim,' the project opens with the vibrant introductory track "Torn" that floats its way through our speakers with the utmost anticipation through subtle and mysterious synths alongside Rob Roth's bright vocals. As he begins to vocalize on someone's tainted love that leaves a scar or two on each lover they pass, Roth continues belting his heart out alongside the high-energy synth-pop production and distorted, crunchy effects. We love the power and intimidating feel this song offers, perfectly kicking off the project with a bang. Jumping into a more personal venture with track number two, "Breathe Into My Heart," Rob Roth opens the track with the smoothest synths that flutter through our speakers with a soft and tranquil energy. Roth takes this song to open his heart and devote himself to someone special while allowing us to groove away with the production's lighthearted and smooth-sailing vibe, giving us an early dose of the upcoming summer season. We appreciate Roth's tenderness and passion in this performance, and we'll definitely have to repeat the track this summer. Onto the EP's halfway point and title track, "Sink or Swim," this song starts on a softer note through warm acoustic guitar melodies that shift into a modern pop drum/synth arrangement. Listening to Rob Roth's charismatic and animated vocal delivery, he explains those confusing and uneasy emotions of falling into someone's love once again, ensuring himself that nothing lasts forever. Although Roth sings a rather emotional message, we're sure this summer banger will make your days or nights all the more exciting and groovy, especially as he keeps the energy alive each time he meets the anthemic hook. Making "Headlines" is Rob Roth's fourth track on the EP, which warmly opens with a delicate acoustic guitar alongside cinematic piano melodies and Roth's passionate vocals that sing of how someone illuminates his every being when they enter a room. What's all the more heartwarming is how Roth explains that he's sure this person will make headlines, especially in his mind. He continues to describe them as "a work of art" while the ethereal and shimmering production ramps up the energy and passion, lifting us towards the song's serene and chilling outro. Onto the EP's final track, "29," we get to know the person behind the microphone even further as Rob Roth opens the song singing about reaching the age of 29 and feeling like he had more time to figure things out. The song's instrumental offers this light and bright pop atmosphere while Roth's lyrics begin to get it together and reflect on his past mistakes to make for a more stable future. This song is incredibly easy to listen to; from the soothing instrumentals to Roth's vulnerable words, he closes off the EP on a sweet and relatable note of optimism. Keep your head held high with Rob Roth's new 5-track EP, 'Sink or Swim,' now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Rob Roth. Congratulations on releasing such a dynamic and engaging new EP, 'Sink or Swim.' What was the core inspiration behind the new project? What led you to create it? Thank you for having me and for the kind words on my EP! The core inspiration behind this EP is the journey I went on towards bettering myself following years of unknowing depression and battling through consecutive major injuries. I did a lot of introspective thinking and worked on myself, and these songs really encapsulate where my head was from the moment I decided to get better to now being 29 years old and chasing after my dreams. I only started making music last year, and after a few collaborations that garnered success, I really wanted to release a body of work that was fully and 100% me, from the writing to the production and everything in between. Which song from 'Sink or Swim' do you feel is the most personal to you and why? It's an interesting question because they are all very personal to me. What I feel is most relevant at the moment and will continue to stay relevant is probably 29. The idea that you are falling behind or not successful yet when you hit 30 is something I don't agree with. It's not only hitting 30 but also hitting 35, 40, 50, 70. Everyone lives their life at their own pace and achieves their own success when it happens. Just because society norms say you should be a certain way or be at a certain point in your life doesn't mean it holds true for you. I really want people to know that you can chase after whatever you want at whatever stage of your life. In your new EP, 'Sink or Swim,' was there a certain concept or theme you wanted to get across to the listener? I touch upon emotions that a lot of people feel. A lot of people go through depression or periods where they feel like they're behind or stuck, or they don't know what they're doing with their life. I just want people to relate to it to listen to the EP and listen to it in full because it's meant to be a full story. I really hope it can really get people on the right track or if they're on the right track to kind of remember what they had to fight through and that they're on the other side and that things are gonna be better. One of the lyrics in "Sink Or Swim," which is the title track of the EP, is "nothing lasts forever." "Sink Or Swim" is about depression and how you only have one choice, which is to sink or swim. Those feelings that everybody shares, even though the triggers and experiences are different, won't last forever. Even if it lasts for five years, ten years, or 20 years, you're going to grow and learn and become a better person. It's just a natural progression. I want people to really relate to it and feel something. What sort of genres and sounds did you want to capture in 'Sink or Swim'? Did you have anyone help produce the sonics you were looking for? Absolutely, this EP would not have been possible if not for my co-producer Adam Clark, my co-writers Robbie Rosen and Jake Eckhaus, Grammy-winning mastering engineer Hans Dekline, and mixing engineer Jerome Renard. They all played such a pivotal role in getting it to sound the way it is. I wanted to touch upon all of the different musical influences that make me who I am. Every track has an element of electronic sounds which is what I feel is most modern about my musical taste. With Torn, I wanted to capture the emotion and uniqueness of Linkin Park. Breathe Into My Heart touches upon my influences from artists like Avicii and Chainsmokers, which is very much driven by electronic sounds and dance style. Sink or Swim encapsulates my original influences from the '90s like DMB, Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, etc. Headlines are very much driven by all of the pop music I have been influenced by my entire life. Finally, 29 is heavily influenced by Ed Sheeran and John Mayer, with a little more of that singer-songwriter vibe. That's what I try to do in the process of writing. I try to make sure the lyrics connect to the verses and the choruses and make sure that if you really wanna capture the emotion of a phrase, you have to make sure it sings well. When it came to the production of the EP, I really wanted to have that electronic bass. I didn't necessarily want to have the rawness of live drums other than the acoustic guitar that I play. I kind of decided to take the bass of the song and produce them with electronic sounds and then each individual song on the EP draws inspiration from a different artist or genre. You'll hear "Torn," which is the first song off the EP, has a little bit of that Linkin Park vibe. It has raw emotion with emo, punk, and electronic sounds. "Breathe Into My Heart" was a little bit like The Chainsmokers where it has that EDM structure, but it's not as hard-hitting; it's a little more chill type of EDM. "Sink Or Swim" pulls off a little more of that 90s like Dave Matthews, Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls that pop/rock vibe. "Headlines" is more of a pop feel, and "29" is more influenced by Ed Sheeran. You'll hear that different style of sound across the board on the EP, but it all glues together. The way I set the EP up, the storylines express the moment I started to better myself and do a lot more introspective thinking. Especially in "Torn," it's the realization of the lack of self-awareness I had had and who I'd hurt even though I didn't realize I was hurting, and from there it brings you to this point of I'm 29 now cause "29" is the last song of EP. Shifting gears a bit, what inspired you to focus on music after suffering so many fitness-related injuries? What has your experience as an artist been like so far? In November of 2018, I underwent what was my third and last knee surgery and decided to make some mindset and lifestyle changes. I wanted to become a more positive person and really get back to being who I am supposed to be as a person. It was the next summer (2019) that I reconnected with the guitar. That summer kind of manifested itself from my roommate hearing me play in my room and barging in to tell me I sounded amazing (I didn't believe him because I had never learned to sing and hadn't played guitar in a while) all the way to getting vocal lessons for the first time in Nov of 2019. Then through the pandemic, I practiced and practiced and practiced, and I have reached a point where I knew that I was truly meant to do this, and I had this innate need to pursue it. It is interesting to think about what it has been like to be an artist thus far because I have achieved so much in such a short period of time but also have extremely high expectations and goals to achieve. Not many people could go from never singing in their life to writing their first song and releasing their first EP within a two-year span, so I am extremely proud of the progress I have made. I know there is a lot more for me to work on, and I will continue to grow as an artist and a singer. instagram.com/robrothmusic

So immerse yourself in Floramay Holliday's latest single, "These Days," available on all streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic Floramay Holliday. What makes this record different from the rest with a catalog of variety and style? Over the past 20 years, I've recorded four albums on my label, Roseneath Records, using various genres and styles, including Americana, country, folk-rock, bluegrass, and blues. This 5th album is graduating into a sound unlike my others, with everything from contemporary to pop, bluegrass, and country. Recording with the New Bohemians in Dallas has given the music a fresh sound, and my new songs come from a place of love and experience. In addition, another batch of songs will be coming from my work with Will Holland at Chillhouse Studios in Boston. In 2020, my original studio sessions were forced to go remote, and we finished several new songs together, using his all-star cast of musicians. I'm excited to see how they all come together as an album and look forward to releasing the new music video for "Hearts Have Wings," a contemporary co-write with Holland, coming soon. Explain to us more about your creative process behind this beautiful, heart-felt record and how you come to the start of such a masterpiece? Thank you, this one does feel like my masterpiece, as a lot of heart and soul has gone into the writing and producing of this record. I've been composing lately and began working with the New Bohemians in Dallas. During the recording sessions, new songs were inspired and finished on the spot in the studio, counting 18 so far. Rockers like "Song to Myself" and "Best Friend" are balanced out by the mellow vibes of "I Still Try" and "Wild Ones." The upcoming single, "Hearts Have Wings," is inspired by the longing to be with someone far away. I think a lot of people can relate. Will the country be your primary genre, or do you see yourself branching out shortly? It's hard to define what genre my music fits into neatly. It has roots in the country, but my new album has a contemporary influence and some rock and roll. I could see myself recording a gospel album in the future and a classic bluegrass album while also working on my songwriting and going where it takes me. With your upcoming album tour, what do you hope for your listeners to take away after spending some time with you? As a songwriter and performer, I intend to take the listener to a positive place through music, with lyrics that tell stories and inspire. I hope to create music that draws you into the moment and leaves you with a good feeling, wanting more. What's next for you? After the album is done, I plan to release a series of singles and music videos and then drop the album, followed by a tour to promote. To continue writing and playing music is a dream come true, and I plan to do it as long as possible. Creating live music experiences for others is a passion of mine, and I enjoy teaching songwriting workshops, putting on concerts and organizing up-and-coming musicians to perform. Instagram Facebook

  • Lauren Brabson Strikes Our Hearts With Her New Single, "Babe's Song"

Hailing from Barberton, Ohio, Lauren Brabson is an emerging folk singer-songwriter and a self-taught musician. Her songwriting finds acceptance in everyday life. Her vocals bring a sense of melancholy to her music. Her storytelling is deeply relatable, creating a solid connection between her and her listeners. Lauren released her first single “Illinois” in 2019, followed by an EP called “Sad Girl Blues” in 2022. Her newest single, “Babe’s Song,” is a love story that highlights the desire to give love another chance. It displays Lauren’s cohesive and emotionally driven sound as well as her classic folk roots. “Babe’s Song” opens up with beautiful classic guitar chords. Lauren’s dreamy vocals are introduced as was immediately inspired to lay back, relax and take in the soothing journey that the song provides. “I used to write love songs so blue, but now I’m writing songs about you.” A tale of being in love is sung to us, softly and patiently. We catch on quickly to the catchy ouuu’s that Lauren sings and sings along as though we are sitting around a campfire. “It’s probably too early to say, You might even run away, but I’m willing to take that chance because you might be my last romance.” As bright as the song may sound, these lyrics hint at the fact that even though she is in love, she’s fully aware of how unpredictable love can be and does not expect it to work out perfectly. However, she is being optimistic and hopeful about it, which in itself is beautiful. “Babe’s song” would fit perfectly in a romantic movie scene. We can easily hear this song becoming a part of the soundtrack of our lives. We are so excited to hear more from the brilliantly talented songstress Lauren Brabson. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Lauren Brabson! Congratulations on your new hit single, "Babe's Song"! We love how refreshingly timeless this song sounds. Can you please give us a minor breakdown of the exact moment or feeling that inspired "Babe's song" to be created? Thank you so much! I'm so excited "Babe's Song" is out. The song was inspired by the first phase of falling in love. It can be a very delicate phase. You have interest and want to spend time with the other person, but you also have what you've previously been through weighing you down. "Babe's Song" was my experience of thought. It's about putting your heart out there to another person, but there's also the delicate moment of if that other person would want to. In your song, you say, "I used to hate the way love made me feel, but then there's you, you caught me at the right time." After getting heartbroken, it is difficult to let go of that fear of it happening again. How important do you think it is to give love another chance? When it comes to love or any relationship in my life, I'm a strong believer in second chances. It's not easy for anyone to be vulnerable, and when it comes to love, vulnerability is part of it. For someone to fall in love, get hurt, and be vulnerable enough to try again, I think that's incredibly brave and strong. We're so curious to know how did your musical journey begin? When did you start writing songs? I started off singing. Even though I was very shy, I don't remember a time when I didn't love it. I was involved in our church choir as early as possible. Around 9 or 10, I knew I wanted to be a songwriter. There was just something in me that compelled me to do it. As I went into my teenage years, I would write a lot of stories or phrases in notebooks. I was 16 when I first started playing guitar. Being self-taught, it's definitely been a journey. How has growing up in Ohio impacted your music? Growing up in Ohio, it's truly provided a lot of different inspirations, whether it's with my songwriting or music. We have a little bit of everything from small towns to huge cities and different people worldwide. Everyone has such different walks of life. The current music scene in the area alone is out of this world. There's nothing going on like it, and that is so inspiring. What's next for you? Looking forward, I have some really fun shows coming up through the Spring and into Summer. I'm also excited to start working on the full album. I have a lot of ideas for it right now, but I'm really trying to focus on being in the moment right now and celebrating "Babe's Song." linktr.ee/Laurenbrabson

  • Mallokay Takes Us "Before Time," With His New Single

Oshawa-based rapper, Mallokay (aka Brannon Kasthuriratne), the skilled lyrical architect of Sri Lankan descent, comes through showcasing his incredible talent for balancing his style with a dash of mainstream appeal with his new single, "Before Time." Mallokay has organically surpassed major industry milestones with virtually zero marketing initiatives with nothing but ambition, drive, and an ear for great music. Wanting to foster a sense of community in his hometown, he opened the doors of his studio to local youth with musical aspirations. In his latest single, "Before Time," featuring Cappadonna & Keenan, Mallokay introduces us with his voice where he expresses lyrics like "always looking so lovely and gorgeous, always done up" and "You the reason that the sun comes up," and it immediately takes us back to a time we missed. Then, he talks about how beautiful the woman he wants is and what he would do to win her heart. Mallokay expresses his feelings in a 90's old school way where the lyrics flow effortlessly, and the beat so boldly complements the record. Everything he mentions is so relatable, and with the touch of Keenan, she brings her eccentric, fulfilling, and emotional voice to life as she sings the chorus so freely. As we are almost at the end, we listen to Cappadonna as he mentions how he would do anything to keep his woman and not lose her to petty situations. This record is a match made in heaven as we got everything we wanted and more Mallokay continues to release music and attract the attention of major players in the Hip-Hop game, keeping one hand firmly affixed to his personal goal of worldwide recognition for his music while lifting the hip-hop community with the other. Welcome to BuzzMusic Mallokay. We are thrilled to have you here with us! What was your inspiration for this record, and how did you end up choosing the features you did? Thank you for having me. When I first started brainstorming for this record, I knew I'd be taking an old-school approach to it. Cappadonna's verse was already set, and it wasn't until after I heard it that I started writing. It's not my style to do the whole "This girl is perfect, I want her" thing. So instead, I decided to draw from personal experiences and flip the coin, creating a level of contrast to Cap's verse, talking about the experience of thinking this love/relationship/situation is perfect until things go bad. As for the hook, that was the last thing added to the song. I knew it needed female vocals, and I had a general idea of how I wanted it to sound, so I asked my friend Keeana, who I went to college with for a semester, to come up with something for the hook. As soon as she sent over the first draft, we scheduled a time to record it in my studio, and that was that. "Before Time," tells us a story that we can relate to. What did you want your listeners to take away from it? I wouldn't say I have anything specific I'd want my listeners to take away from it. I think it's more like, "this is what I experienced. Make what you will of it". There are some lessons though people can pay for the takeaway from it. The biggest one is probably just to focus on yourself before anything, as cliché as it sounds. Also, chill out on the lovey fantasies, lol. Just look at everything for what it is, and you'll be fine. As a rapper, what are some of the most challenging things you've encountered? How have you dealt with it? In no order: A lack of money (at least not having as much as I'd like) for marketing/videos, etc., not having a mentor/team, and still being in the process of developing my sound. Having a lack of money isn't the end of the world because there're ways to build a buzz without breaking your budget. You just have to be smart and/or creative. Money can speed up the process, especially if you know what you're doing. A lack of a mentor can be difficult sometimes because having one would save me a lot of time from learning through trial and error when I could just have them tell me, "Do it like this, don't do that," etc. so that I can just focus on writing and recording the whole sharpening those skills. But oh well, I can figure things out pretty well now. As for still having to develop my sound, I can tell my style is still in the infancy stages, so I'm trying to "level that up" as quickly as possible. I don't wanna put out 100 songs that I think are all garbage next year. How do you always stay creative and on top of your game? What kind of advice would you give to another artist just starting? A proper attitude can help a lot in every situation. I don't typically like to "take on a character" because it's a little delusional, but when you lack a sufficient amount of focus, bringing on that fighter mentality can save you from an unproductive, inefficient day. In terms of creativity, I've been finding lately that it's good to pace yourself, kind of like how you do sets when working out. Otherwise, you'll just burn out and waste time. Also, exposing yourself to different environments can spark something in your brain. I could go on, but these few are from my more recent experiences. For advice that I'd tell new artists, I'd tell them that if you want to do this, you have to act as you want it. If you're tiptoeing it, just quit now and save yourself the time. This world and this business don't owe you anything. Being a casual player is okay if you're okay with fine results. But if you want to make it the way most people talk about when they daydream about what's at the finish line, you need to be cutthroat, smart, aware, consistent, and talent helps. Talent, good or bad, will probably make up 20-30% of what drives you to a higher stage in your career, while the rest is all the skills I just mentioned before (at least at the beginning of your career). I could go on forever with this, too, but I'll leave it at that for now. What's next for you? It's an album, and it's going to have my absolute best work on it that I'll genuinely be satisfied with. I'm aiming to release it this year, probably in the fall. Other than that, scaling my brand, numbers, and everything else upwards. Whether or not I get a record deal, I can see that making a living off this is within reach now, so I'm confident regardless of the outcome. INSTAGRAM
