- Remember the Name Caesar Gorgeous After His Productive Year and Upcoming Year Ahead
Caesar Gorgeous has had quite the year, kicking things off he began releasing singles to gain traction for his debut album, “Perception”. This album is 14-tracks of original songs from talented, up and coming artist Caesar Gorgeous. Following the release of “Perception,” Caesar was named a semi-finalist for the 2019 International Songwriting Competition and a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition. The album amassed Caesar an incredible amount of success and was soon followed up by “Breathe” to kick off summer 2019! The track dives into the heavy subject matter of feeling suffocated by the fake love that surrounds you sometimes, the main message was to keep moving forward regardless. Caesar Gorgeous is a rapper, singer, songwriter and talented producer making his name known out of the Chicago area. Working side by side with gifted producer and music engineer J. Khaga, Caesar creates new wave hip-hop to galvanize the contemporary music scene. Trained as a sound designer and audio engineer at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Caesar also spotlights audio detail through his progressive production choices. We absolutely love every piece of music that Caesar Gorgeous delivers and we’re always on the lookout for his future musical endeavors. Caesar is currently working hard towards the release of his EP and a music video! Stay tuned! Check out Caesar Gorgeous’ music here and keep scrolling for more with the artist below! Welcome back to BuzzMusic Caesar Gorgeous! It’s such a pleasure to be catching up with you! You’ve had an impressive year, to say the least. What accomplishment are you most proud of thus far? Honestly, I'm proud of placing 3rd in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. I've never won anything for my music before. To have 'Overdue' win an award was an amazing feeling. I know it's not just me thinking my pen game is nice anymore, I feel I'm validated. One of our favorite tracks on “Perception” is “Four Walls”! Can you tell us the inspiration behind this track? 'Four Walls' is about my battle with depression and alcoholism. I wrote it depicting the day I broke down emotionally and decided to stop using alcohol as a distraction. I had spent 3 days in my apartment by myself drinking Bacardi feeling down as hell. When I got a wave of depression then, I wouldn't answer the phone or I would lie to people because I didn't feel like interacting. Four Walls is my truth. I told myself I want to live right and not use alcohol to try and distract me from my depression, especially when alcohol would make me feel worse in the end. With your individual sound now established, how do you set yourself apart from other hip-hop artists today? I'm honest. My mom used to say, "you can only rap about what you know," I took that to heart. I just give my unique perspective with some witty double entendres. No gimmicks or glitz. No one can have my exact perspective or ear. As long as I'm true to myself, I'm in a lane alone. You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into their lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “Youth”? Youth is a reflection of me growing up without a dad and being a driven kid. I've wanted to rap and make music since 16, I had to work on my rhymes and had no help with that aspect of my music. I had to work hard and constantly put work into my craft over the years. I've had rough patches in my life and no one to guide me, so I figured things out alone. Youth is an abridged and digestible version of my story. You’ve mentioned that you have hopes to release a music video soon! Can we have any hints to which track you’d match the visuals too? Or will it be a new release? A music video for Four Walls will come soon! But I have other work to release before y'all get that. Thank you so much for talking with us about your new projects and the creative process. What can you tell us about your upcoming EP? We can’t wait to hear more from you. My upcoming EP entitled, 'QR EP' is coming sooner than later. It's an EP for Chicago, made in Chicago, with Chicago artists. Really excited to share the EP and bring more artists into my world. QR is produced entirely by J.Khaga and features a few homies, including Shellz, who was on 'Breathe' with me. instagram.com/caesar.grges #BuzzMusic
- On The Radar: Impressive Year From the Talented New York Artist Marcus Alland
Marcus Alland is a talented hip-hop artist from Queens, New York. He was inspired by music at the young age of 14 when he would sing in his church choir. As a skilled vocalist and creative thinker, Marcus began writing rap lyrics and performing them for his peers when he was 16. He gained the confidence to perform at open mic nights and this helped him realize his passion. Marcus realized early in his pursuit of success that it cannot be rushed and must be earned. He put in the hard work which eventually led to the release of his first original mixtape single “Come Alive”, early in 2019. Marcus them went on to release his next upbeat banger, “Forza” followed up by our personal favorite, “Lemme See”. Marcus Alland has had an impressive year so far and he shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. As an ambitious creative, he has his eyes on breaking into the fashion industry, as well as acting in the TV and film industry. Marcus’ stride towards success is both admirable and impressive. Regardless of what career path Marcus Alland’s future takes him on, there’s no doubt that he will be a household name. Don’t sleep on this incredible up and coming artist! Check out Marcus Alland’s music here. Welcome back, Marcus! It’s always a pleasure catching up with you. What have you been up to since you release the single and music video for “Lemme See”? Just been working on new music to release before my first album drops in 2020. And speaking of new music, I'll be dropping a new EP before the album. Just some good vibes to put out there for the world to enjoy. What's the most integral element to your music that you find is always integrated into the three tracks you released this year? The element that's needed is not only in those three tracks but in all of my music is the ability to feel the music. One of my missions in the industry is to make timeless music. Music that's going to resonate with the heart and soul of the listener. You present yourself as a really versatile artist! “Forza” has a more hard-hitting hip-hop feel, while your most recent release “Lemme See” is more of an upbeat R&B banger. What trend can your listeners expect from your next track? I would say something everyone can relate to. You know as an artist, you want to be able to connect to and with your audience and that's what I'm aiming for. If you had to choose, which music video that you released this year had the most enjoyable filming process? “Forza” or “Lemme See”? I definitely choose "Lemme See". The reason being is because that video was the biggest one I've ever directed myself and it was truly a blessing to see my vision come alive. It was fun directing and also the people who I chose for the video made it even more fun. Thank you so much for catching up with us! We’re always looking forward to hearing more. How has your sound developed or changed since your debut single “Come Alive”? It developed in a way to where I'm even more particular about what's being created from the production to the lyrics. You'll hear it in the EP but you'll hear it even more in the album. instagram.com/marcusallandmusic #BuzzMusic

You’ve had an impressive year, to say the least. What accomplishment are you most proud of thus far? 2019 was definitely my best year to date since starting music! I released my first studio album at the beginning of the year, released my first music video in March, did my first two shows out of state down south during the summer, locked in some new partnerships, and got my following on Spotify specifically to 5 thousand and only getting higher! I don't think I could pick an accomplishment that I am most proud of. I just feel really good about how this year has gone it has been really good to me and I am really excited about the momentum I've got going into 2020! With a few years of making music under your belt, we would have to imagine your sound has changed and evolved with time. How would you say your music now compares to the music you curated when you first started out in the music industry? It has changed but has also stayed the same. A lot of it has to do with where I was in life when I first started in the industry where I am now. I've also learned a lot in terms of making music and have been able to progress in so many different ways. I would say if anything that sounds the most different is I sound a lot more grown-up and aware of who I am and who I want to be. How do you set yourself apart from other hip-hop artists today? Instead of doing what everybody else is doing I try and do something completely different. I want to have my own sound, style, delivery, and the way my songs sound. We absolutely love your latest release! What predominant message was integrated within "Remedy"? Thank You, honestly, this is probably one of my favorite songs I've done if not my favorite. Music is everything to me in terms of listening, writing, recording, and performing. Making music while being myself and giving it everything I have. I never want to let anybody down or myself and that I will do everything to make sure that never happens. You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into their lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “Unstable” ft. Ryan Palma? The lyrics in the song are everything to me, its the best part of making music in my opinion. I love playing with words, metaphors, different flows, and cadences. Unstable was about as I'm getting further into this music industry and realizing just how shady and deceiving it can be, and then saying what I think about it and how I will still go about doing it my way and not the way everybody else is doing it. Thank you so much for talking with us about your new projects and the creative process. What's the next move for you artistically? No doubt, I'm always down to do this. My new music video for Remedy will be dropping October 30th which was shot at Redwall Studios in San Jose by Rock Crown Productions huge shout out to both of them! I'm currently working on my upcoming album "Confrontational Means" which will be dropping next year in February. Who knows what else I'm up to for the rest of this year so I would suggest people pay attention because who knows what's coming! instagram.com/kaotic #BuzzMusic
- Andrew David Tells All About Brand New Ep Release "1:37 Am" and His Successful 2019
This year has been the definition of explosive for Andrew David, a singer/songwriter from Santa Barbara, California. He released, not one, but two EPs in 2019. The first one “1:37AM” features our favorite song “Cruise Control” among 3 other blissful original tracks from Andrew. “Fit In” closes off the EP and is a raw introspective track that really showcases another level to Andrew’s artistry. More recently, Andrew dropped “Try to Understand” at the end of September, which features 2 original songs titled “Try to Understand” and “Stuck on You”. Stepping out of his norm, Andrew David introduces a piano-heavy song with this title track and a catchy chorus that focuses on problems beneath the surface. The titled implies exactly what the sentiments of this song are, just try to understand. “Stuck on You” is a beautiful acoustic song that talks about themes of unreciprocated feelings of love. With these new releases, an ear for spectacular music, and an incredibly charming vocal tone, Andrew David has amassed himself a massive fanbase. With over 2k followers on Instagram and almost 10k listeners on Spotify, Andrew is absolutely the artist to keep an eye on heading into 2020! We look forward to catching a live show in the future. Check out Andrew David’s music here. Welcome back to BuzzMusic Andrew David’! It’s such a pleasure to be chatting with you again. "1:37AM" is the perfect project to introduce new listeners to your sound in 2019. Where did you draw inspiration for this particular EP? I was going through a tough time in life dealing with things like depression and heartbreak while writing the EP. Music was my only escape and the only way that I was able to really find the words to express myself. When writing this EP, I really tried to just have fun with it. I didn't worry about little mistakes or making it sound perfect. I just wanted to have fun and do something that I loved to put me back in the right headspace. What I got was an EP that I'm proud of. I'm often so self-critical and such a perfectionist that I tried really hard with this one to forget about the little things and make it sound like me -- mistakes and all. “Fit In” is a meaningful and captivating song! What can you tell us about the writing process for this one? What do the lyrics represent? I knew I needed one more track to finish the EP and "Fit In" just came to me. Normally I usually write out lyrics or come up with a melody first and then slowly create the song but I think "Fit In" really just captured what I was feeling at the time. It was the only song ever that I was able to write and record all in one take. The lyrics talk about that feeling of feeling out of place. Even when we're among our friends and family or any place we belong, sometimes it just feels like no one can truly understand you. We try so hard to fit in to society but ultimately we're all unique and different individuals. This song goes out to anyone that's ever felt out of place. “Try to Understand” is a great new track but it seems to have a meaningful message behind the lyrics. Can you tell us more about your most recent release? Similar to "Fit In," I often try to create songs that other people can relate to. This song talks about a previous relationship where I tried my best to make it work, but due to other circumstances and life just getting in the way, it's hard to make time for yourself and your significant other. "Try to Understand" is less as an excuse for my actions, but more of an explanation that I'm trying to be better and that you're important to me. How have you honed your songwriting style over time, and what do you think are the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last in the long-run? Everytime I think I figured out how to write songs, it always changes on me. Lately I've been in a rut and trying to write songs the way I "normally" do isn't working. I think at where I am in my life and career right now, I have to let the song come to me. If I force it, it loses its authenticity and audiences know that. I make music because I love it and it helps me express myself. If I just force creativity it flat out sucks. So, I guess I haven't really honed my songwriting style. Each song is different and writing each song is unique. I think the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last, in the long run, is authenticity. If you try to copy or just "make a hit," it's obvious and shallow. Audiences are smart people and they know when you've actually put the time and effort into it. Personally, I always thought it's the lyrics that make a song long-lasting. Of course there are iconic guitar riffs and famous sounds that people will forever recognize, but there is nothing like lyrics or a line that just strikes a chord with a listener. “Stuck on You” is also a beautiful new song. Is this based on life experiences? Do you think it’s crucial to stay vulnerable with your audience? When I wrote "Stuck on You," I knew it was going to be another love song so I worked really hard to make the lyrics meaningful and different. The song is based on life experiences and specifically, one girl that I just couldn't get over/still haven't gotten over. It's only my voice and an acoustic guitar because I really wanted to stay vulnerable in this song and not let it be drowned out by too much instrumentation. Like I said before, staying vulnerable, authentic, and real with your audience (in my opinion) is the only way to get through to your audience. I want my audience to feel like they know me through my music, not just know about me because of my music. Thank you so much for chatting with us. Do you have any live shows or events coming up to support your EP “Try to Understand? I have a couple of live shows coming up in November and December to support my new songs. These upcoming shows are going to be stripped down to just me and a guitar or piano because I want them to be more personal and connected. You can find out the upcoming dates through my Instagram! instagram.com/andrew_david7 #BuzzMusic

"The Charge" is the perfect track to accompany with some visuals. Where did you draw inspiration for this particular music video? "The Charge” music visuals were inspired by my son, Rizzz Savage. We decided one day to shoot some visuals on the android phone. The concept was Rizzz several years back wrote rhymes that became embedded in an old mic sending out radioactive frequencies. Future Rizzz discovered this mic while writing newer rhymes. Past Rizzz tells future Rizzz to keep working on the craft, because future Rizzz at times becomes discouraged. “Contradictions” is a great new track but it seems to have a meaningful message behind the lyrics. Can you tell us more about the lyrics in this? Contradictions is a verse from co-founder LBM. LBM and Rizzz composed this track years ago. It was a stress release moment encapsulating the mood. It was also a track from an underground release “Real Live Action”. Do you think your sound has evolved or changed since the release of “Beats n Coffee Vol 2” leading up to the release of “Ipodz N Angelz”? SES has evolved in the eyes of our staff, founders, and supporters. Beats N Coffee vol 2 sets the ambiance for the sound that is soulelementzsoundz. Ipodz N Angelz is a collection of new and past mixes. How have you honed your songwriting and production style over time, and what do you think are the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last in the long-run both lyrically and sonically? SES likes to spend time looping, composing, and learning. Songwriting has always been a natural part of the production process. Where there wasn’t equipment to record new song ideas, many notebooks became filled. Sometimes it’s waiting for the right vibe to present itself to make a track complete. “The charge” is a complete track because it has the visuals to match a vibe that was very spontaneously natural. Thank you so much for chatting with us. What can you tell us about your upcoming releases? Check for more visuals in 2020 and new release “The Inner Sun” from Rizzz. Listen to “Can You Tell” by Tyler Bartfai here and read more in our interview below! Welcome back to BuzzMusic Tyler Bartfai’! It’s such a pleasure to be chatting with you again. "She’s The One" is the perfect track to introduce new listeners to your sound in 2019. What made you choose this particular track to start off the EP? Hey again, thanks for taking the time to chat with me again! “She’s the one” was one of the strongest tunes I had written going into the recording process, and it developed very nicely as we moved along. It was a song myself and my producer felt would be well received, and a good way to start the EP out with a bang. The EP as a whole is extremely versatile and diverse! How long has this project been in the making? The recording and mastering process started in about June of 2018. Because I live in a relatively remote area (Powell River,) studio sessions were done in between tour legs and when I could sneak time off of work to get to down to Vancouver. We were done tracking in October I believe, and the masters were all done by March! The writing of the EP took place over a few years. I wanted the EP to act as a mixtape of sorts for my whole career, so I picked songs for it based on different areas of my musical interests, which includes some songs I had written a few years ago, to songs that were pretty fresh last June. “Mr.Callback” is a great new track but it seems to have a meaningful message behind the lyrics. Can you tell us more about this song? Mr. Callback for me was a way of sorting out my feelings coming of the tail end of a not particularly healthy, on-again-off-again relationship. It was about giving myself the freedom to guilt free make the decisions that would be best for myself and my well being. That is the oldest song of mine that made the EP, and one I still feel very in the moment with when playing live. Since you’ve been making music for a few years, how would you compare some of the earlier material you’ve written to your debut EP? How have you honed your songwriting style over time, and what do you think are the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last in the long-run? Great question! I’ve definitely seen an improvement of the overall quality of my work from when I started song writing up till now, so I’d consider it (slightly) more mature. I always strive to improve musically, and since I’ve only been playing guitar and writing songs for around five years, there has been a pretty quick progression in the knowledge base I’ve acquired, and that has translated really well into higher quality songs for me melodically. Lyrically, I’ve noticed things flow more freely the further I get into song writing, and the more frequently I do it. Basically, I would say I’ve gotten better at reducing the space between what I hear in my head, and what comes out, and that has made my songs more cohesive. All of that makes me really excited for future releases(Hopefully in the fall of 2020)! What would you say is the most useful piece of criticism you’ve received thus far within your career? Do you typically take criticism to your advantage? I always take constructive criticism to heart, and once I’m over my initial reaction of “psh you don’t know what your talking about,” I start to think about how I can use what has been said to me to my advantage and advancement. I can’t think of any specific criticism at this moment, but the ones that are most helpful are the ones that push me to get out of my comfort zone and keep aiming to improve! Thank you so much for chatting with us again Tyler! Do you prefer the more intimate recording process over live performance? How do you personally feel when you're performing your music live? Both of those have their places in my heart. The recording process tends to be more perfection oriented than I am in daily life, but watching a song take on its wings is something that is an awesome feeling that is very hard to explain eloquently. That being said, the main reason I got into music was to try and make connections with people, the way some music has connected with me, so I’d have to say I still prefer performing live. I always feel a strange euphoric mix of lost in my own head, and in the zone when I’m performing, and wouldn’t have it any other way! instagram.com/tylerbartfai #BuzzMusic
- Experimental Rock Band Japam Releases Their New EP “Sickboy”
Japam is an exciting rock band hailing from Adelaide, Australia. Comprised of five members, Seb Hudson, Ryan Lucivero, Ben Whitehorn, Jack Thomson, and Andreas Murphy, they combine influences from the technical grooves of progressive music and the melodic appeal of 90s pop and rock music. This group creates a soundscape that is energetic and infectious and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for all varieties of audience members. This year, Japam released their sophomore EP “Sickboy” which has garnered the band much attention and success. They have a solid fan base and earned their spot on multiple radio stations throughout Australia including Triple J’s ‘The Racket’, Rage, ESPN’s World of X Games and international radio. “Sickboy” was impressively the band second EP to be produced by Seb Hudson, but this time they sought out the expertise of US engineer Taylor Larson. This added an element of depth and clarity that had not been heard before in their past works. “Sickboy” is a great EP, one with an immersive sense of rising passion and energy, and the sort that offers up an immediately familiar intro once you’ve heard it even a single time. A progressive rock smash but also something to provoke a slightly deeper level of thought at the same time. Well worth a spin! Check out “Sickboy” here and read more with Japam below in our exclusive interview! Welcome back to BuzzMusic Japam! Congratulations on your new EP “Sickboy”! How long has this project been in the works? Thanks heaps guys! We're glad you dig it! It was actually quite a drawn-out process and from the initial stages of tracking to the release of the EP it was close to 2 and a half years. We weren't in any huge rush at the time and had quite a few personal things going on during that period. In retrospect though, we're really happy we took our time with it and think the end result was totally worth it. We’re so happy to see 3 more brand new tracks included on this release, which song from your EP would you say BEST describes your musical approach? If by musical approach you mean writing approach, I'd have to say that all of the songs were approached in very much the same way. There's no doubt though that some songs were easier to write than others. “How Did You Go Blind?” is one of our absolute favorites! Despite the upbeat energy, the lyrics seem to hold a deeper meaning. Can you tell our readers about the inspiration behind this track? Absolutely! From the get-go I wanted to be really honest and transparent with the lyrics to HDYGB. I actually wrote it for a family member who has struggled with mental illness for years, but also intended it to be a bit of an anthem for others out there in hard times. “Sickboy Wants A Hotdog” really introduces your listeners to a versatile side of Japam that we’ve never seen before! Do you feel like it’s important to remain versatile in your music? What can you tell us about this song? I definitely feel like it's important to have versatility in the music you write, within reason. I think it's about striking a nice balance between making your songs stand out independently of each other, while still being recognized as belonging to the same band/artist. The music video for “Sickboy Wants A Hotdog” is incredible! What do you hope your listeners take away from it? That clip was loads of fun to make and believe it or not, very adlib! I personally feel that the vibe of the clip is loose, colourful and a little manic, and the takeaway from this should be simple - Have fun and don't be afraid to express your inner goof ball. Thank you so much for chatting with us once again! What's next for Japam? Is live performance a part of your plans? We have a couple of local shows coming up in the next few weeks. One of our own and another supporting Superheist, which we're stoked about! Apart from that we'll be releasing a cover either late this year or early next, and looking to book some interstate shows, so hopefully that all goes well. twitter.com/Japamband #BuzzMusic
- Labán Talks New Singles and His Upcoming Debut Album
Latin singer/songwriter Labán reigns from the border city of Tijuana and currently lives in Mexico City. Laban’s musical literacy began at age 3 when he began playing the violin. Another addition to his artistic side is that he is the son of a graphic artist. Labán made his incredible debut with his single “Dueños de Aquí” in 2018, a protest song about corruption, impunity, extreme income inequality, and violence. The song has a stunning, powerful music video to match! In 2019 Labán has gained an impressive following with his music. Releasing three more singles, “Quién da Más”, “Para Ti”, and “Acércate”, the indie artists shows no signs of slowing down. From his emotionally-rich lyrics to his smooth sultry delivery, Labán can’t be pigeon-holed to one genre. He’s earned himself almost 20k fans on Instagram and over 3000 monthly Spotify listeners. Labán is an artist with an endless amount of motivation, ambition, and incredible music. He pours his heart and soul into every release and is overflowing with passion for his music. Labán is currently hard at work finishing up his much-anticipated debut album “Todos Somos Duenos de Aqui” which will be released before the end of the year! Listen to Labán’s new music here and read more in our exclusive interview with the artist below. Welcome back to BuzzMusic Labán’! It’s such a pleasure to be chatting with you again. "Quién da Más" is the perfect track to introduce new listeners to your sound in 2019. Where did you draw inspiration for this particular track? Thank you for having me, the pleasure is mine. I wrote this song when I was in college, I was not happy with what I was doing and where my professional life was going, I graduated in business management and industrial engineering and I knew it was the best thing for me to do at that moment, but I still felt caged and frustrated and that led me to write this song. “Acércate” is a great new track but it seems to have a meaningful message behind the lyrics. Can you tell us more about your most recent release? It is a song about a short but passionate relationship. the one you can't stop thinking about once it ends, you want more but it can't happen at the time because there are other emotional commitments. I really enjoyed working on this song, it features a collaboration with tenor saxophonist Jeff Miguel from Denver. In terms of the lyrics, "Acércate cuando no tengas deudas" means "Get closer when you're not in debt", figuratively of course (or not, haha). Since you’ve been making music for several years, how would you compare some of the earlier material you’ve written to your newest release? I've been learning a lot about the process of songwriting and then producing the song. At first, I think I was really following the guidelines in terms of the classic song structure, verses and choruses, I still am, but I've started to loosen up and I will continue to experiment beyond that. I've always liked the experimental vibe and although there are songs on the album with a very traditional structure, there's also a sense of experimental that seems to be developed across the songs and the order I worked on them. Since your debut music video garnered an incredible amount of success, do you have plans to drop another video for any of your new tracks? Yes, I'm working on that, I would like to present more videos from this album's universe. I'm also working on a series of short animation videos "En las nubes" (In the clouds) where I share some thoughts on the social problems we face today and their possible solutions. The topics are development, safety, education, diversity and inclusion among other ones. The first chapter was released a few weeks ago and the second one is coming soon. Those can be found on my social networks or YouTube Channel. How have you honed your songwriting style over time, and what do you think are the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last in the long-run? I think that the key is to stay true to what makes you feel the strongest emotions, capture that and write about it. It is very likely that someone else went or is going through that same thing and therefore is meaningful to them. If the message or the story is musically delivered in a way that pleases the ear, then it truly connects and lasts in the long-run because it makes both people's minds and bodies come in sync. Thank you so much for chatting with us. What can you tell us about your much-anticipated debut album “Todos Somos Duenos de Aqui”? There are still some really interesting tunes for you to listen, I'm really excited, I think it tells a story as a whole, it finishes with an overture and acts as a letter of presentation of what I am and what to expect from Labán, I'm still working on the finishing touches but I'm very excited about its release, which I will be announcing soon.
