  • OUT NOW: Tiny Towers, “It Felt Like Love (Sweet Sweet Love)”

Si Alton, better known by his professional moniker Tiny Towers is an English artist who initially dabbled with major labels in the early 2000s, and now writes and records in his home studio in the Shropshire countryside. Creating indie-pop that got a charming lo-fi aura to it, Tiny Towers is inspired by artists like Evan Dando, Ben Lee, Ben Kweller, Ben Folds, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, and Lennon/McCartney. The up and coming pop artist is emerging at the artist to watch going into 2020. His catchy indie-pop anthems are making waves in his hometown and across the Atlantic. Tiny Towers’ second single and incredibly infectious pop tune is titled “It Felt Like Love (Sweet Sweet Love)”. The breezy indie-pop song grabs the listener from the offset and demands to be heard. “It Felt Like Love (Sweet Sweet Love)” tells the quirky story of a young man falling in love with a stripper. Tiny Towers says it’s as close as he’ll get to writing a love song. Although the vocals are slightly melancholic, they captivate you throughout the entire track. You’ll find yourself swaying to the music as you sing along with every word by the second or third listen. Tiny Towers’ positive energy shines through the speakers while the infectious rhythm takes the listener on a journey through the soundscapes he’s created. We welcome this budding indie artist onto the BuzzMusic playlists and we can’t wait to hear more! Check out “It Felt Like Love (Sweet Sweet Love)” here and stay tuned for more releases from Tiny Towers. Welcome to BuzzMusic Tiny Towers! As an artist, how do you find time to focus your energy on your passion? Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways? I’m always writing - whether it’s songs, short stories or the hundred or so novels I have started and will never finish. But I always come back to music. Songwriting and recording is such a buzz that never seems to fade. Who has had the biggest influence on your life musically thus far? Can you describe the impact this particular individual has had in terms of your new song “It Felt Like Love (Sweet Sweet Love)”? The first album I remember buying was The Innocents by Erasure, and that love of big pop melodies has never left me, but probably the biggest influence has been The Beatles. The songwriting and creativity that runs through those albums still amazes me. More recently I love the low-fi feel of guys like Stephen Malkmus and Ben Lee, and it’s that “homemade” production combined with pop melodies which has been a big reference point for my current work. How has your songwriting style changed or developed from when you first began writing seriously? I have been songwriting for about 25 years now (yes, I’m getting old) and would like to feel that my writing has become more refined during that time - a bit like a fine wine! But to be honest, the starting point has always been the melody. I am always (and probably always will be) searching for that perfect melody. I guess lyrically I have changed quite a lot. Like everyone, I started out by writing about all the girls that didn’t fancy me, and now I am happily married with kids, the subject matter has changed. Now I write about all the middle-aged women who don’t fancy me. “It Felt Like Love (Sweet Sweet Love)” had a powerful underlying story to it. Are you able to dive deeper into the honest meaning of the track? Obviously that last answer was a bit of a joke - I actually tend to write about characters a lot, some real, some fictional, most a bit of both like in this case. It Felt Like Love (Sweet Sweet Love) is a story about that time in your life when you’re young and part of the gang, going out on the town and experimenting. In this case, by visiting “gentlemen’s clubs”... I love writing songs that have a bit of a twist to them. This sounds like a straight-up love song, but is actually about a guy who falls for a stripper. And as he says in the song, it felt like love... Thank you for telling us more about yourself and artistry! We’d love to hear more from you. What’s next for you artistically? I’m recording my debut album which will be out early next year, and in the meantime will be releasing a new single every month - I am really excited about this current batch of songs, and can’t wait to share them with the world. There are always warning signs when someone is lying to you, or trying to deceive you.. People Like Us is about that day when you stop being so naive and finally say to yourself, “You know what, I shouldn’t be treated like this.” And you stand up for what you know you deserve. The music video is also extremely powerful and matches the sentiment behind the song perfectly. What was the filming process like? Thank you! We’re glad you like it, that idea came to us right away and just seemed to fit.. The filming process was great, our director Lucas Ruderman really went above and beyond on this one. Basically it was two full days of filming. One day we did all the band scenes, and the other Lucas and I (Niko) went to the city and got all the shots of the “people.” That was the real fun part. All the actors were amazing to work with. What are some of your ultimate goals as a group? Are any of these goals currently being put into place/being worked on? The melding of these genres boasts The American Hotel System’s diverse musical range. Previously described as 'socio-political rock', they strive to create music that allows the listener to relate and have their own feelings towards each track. This absolute smash will have you headbanging and rocking out wherever you may be. The American Hotel System’s chemistry, confidence, and finely-calibrated sound are impressive. They are unapologetically brilliant and we can’t get enough! While there are moments of experimentation and purity within 'The Feeling', the fuller soundscapes are where the more anthem-like and energizing effect lies. The American Hotel System paves its own way creatively, giving the band an alternative and optimistic edge that’s refreshingly freeing right now. The hard-rock collective is delivering nothing but hits and we can’t wait to see what The American Hotel System brings to the table next! Listen to 'The Feeling' here and keep scrolling to read more! Welcome back, guys! For those who don't know, how would you describe your sound and approach to music? Jacob: We’re a rock band that experiments with elements of folk, Americana, and alternative contemporary music. I believe music is the most powerful tool we have to impact culture and try to keep that in mind when I write. Jake: Our sound is the rock to its core, with the influence of folk that gives it a classic Americana feel. Hailey: I would describe our sound definitely as versatile. We are a rock band that pulls from other genres like folk, Americana, and bluegrass. We have a very collaborative type of approach. C.T.: Garage rock with some influences from folk, bluegrass, and indie. I definitely like to make music that has emotion, I want to feel the passion in the song as I play it every time. I love to have fun as well. So I bring a passionate, fun energy to whatever music I perform or write. Tell us all about your new track “The Feeling”! What was the writing process like for this song? Jacob: In March 2018, I had the opportunity to film a documentary in Belize. When I had some free time away from my travel group, I sat under a tree in the middle of the rainforest and started journaling; recounting all the beautiful experiences I had encountered on my adventure. As the breeze caused the jungle canopy to reveal bright blue sky and sunshine, I was struck with anxiety that this moment would soon be over-- the realization that this moment of beautiful clarity was fleeting and my normal life would soon return. I quickly wrote down what would become the first verse and chorus. I finished the lyrics a few days after returning home and filed it away into the lyrics folder on my computer. We had a writing session one evening where I had presented the band with a few new ideas I had been working on. As the night was winding down the band asked if I had anything else. I remember saying “Well, I have this one idea that I’m not really married to. If you hate it, let me know and I’ll forget about it.”; and then played a rough acoustic version of ‘The Feeling’. Before my guitar was done ringing out the last chord, C.T. looked at me and said “I’ll marry that song for you because it’s awesome. We need to arrange it and record it for our next single.” — And here we are a few months later! This song has become a musical expression of my longing for peace and clarity when my world is crowded by anxiety and chaos. I hope that it can serve as musical therapy for those who listen. I’m incredibly proud of this track and I’m excited to share it with the world. Jake: Jacob wrote the song, but I think the song comes from a lot of what we deal with collectively and being able to put the parts in that we all wrote speaks to the special blend of our musical backgrounds. Hailey: As a drummer, the writing process for me was a lot of fun. I was able to take some of the really slick guitar and bass lead lines and lock in with them, making for a really tight and in the pocket type of groove. When we started to write this song musically, it was a lot of playing off of each other until we found that sound, rhythm, or groove that we liked. I tried to have the mindset of: how could I best help to emphasize my bandmate's parts in this song without sticking out too much? The goal was to tastefully blend in. Overall, I loved the writing process for this song. C.T.: This was the first song that the four of us actually wrote together. Jacob had the lyrics and chords but that was it. We got to build it from the ground up and I loved it. We all kind of got to put our own little licks in here and there and really put a lot of character and finesse of each individual musician into this song. I'm honestly super proud of this track, it is a banger. We love your authentic and powerful vocals, have you had any professional training? Jacob: Thank you so very much! Hailey, Jake, and I were all music majors in college together. I did a private guitar and vocal study during my undergrad and both of my coaches had a profound and lasting impact not only on my musicianship but on my life as a whole (Thank you Dr. Werkema and Mr. Holmes!). The three of us have had the privilege of playing together for the last five years, and the time of explosive growth that college provides is something I’ll always be grateful for us to have experienced together. What has been your most memorable achievement as a band so far? Jacob: This summer had been incredible for us. We played a nearly sold-out release show in our hometown for our second EP and were featured in the July/August issue of Relix Magazine. When I look at the various cities around the world where people have listened to our music, I’m humbled that these songs have traveled from my notebook into the ears and hearts of people I’ve never met; that will always be the most memorable and humbling experience I have with our band. Jake: So far, playing the Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids this past summer and being able to play in front of such a fun group was an incredible experience. Hailey: My most memorable moment has been playing a show and having a room full of people sing the lyrics back to us. That is the most wholesome, humbling, and crazy feeling. I’ll never forget that feeling. C.T.: This one time Jacob, as he was painstakingly answering interview questions, leaned back in his chair and it broke. 10 out of 10 would never forget. Oh, and playing an almost sold-out venue in our hometown was cool I suppose. What’s next for The American Hotel System through the end of 2019? Jacob: We’re hard at work on our debut full-length album, which I’m proud to announce will be available on December 13, 2019, via Variare Music! americanhotelsystem.com #BuzzMusic

  • New Music: Keira Moran - 'Zombie'

Making her name known from right here in Los Angeles in, budding songstress, Keira Moran. Born and raised in Alexandria, VA, Keira has been honing her craft since a young age. Keira attended the Frost school of music, and after graduating moved to Los Angeles in August 2017. With an impressive list of accomplishments and a spectacular musical repertoire, Keira is currently writing songs for artists and producers around the world. Keira Moran dropped her latest track “Zombie” and it’s safe to say we’re hooked. “Zombie” welcomes both the melancholic embrace of a hypnotizing backdrop and the heartfelt, passionate connection of a song written with depth and intention. That balance is crucial, and really well executed. You relate to that honesty with that vulnerability within “Zombie”, and at the same time, it’s easy to turn up loud and escape within. Keira has mastered the art of melodic satisfaction, so the song lingers in your mind long after listening. Despite the lyrical depth, the track energizes and brings together everyone who has felt these emotions and been down these pathways. The moods vary throughout “Zombie”, proving Keira to be both a creative and versatile artist. An artist who is well worth tuning in for. Listen to “Zombie” here and read more with Keira Moran below! Hey Keira! We're so happy we can feature you and your latest music here on BuzzMusic! How do you feel your music has been developing over time? Thanks so much for having me! When I first started getting serious about writing my own songs in high school, I was churning out mostly piano ballads. I’ve been playing piano since I was four so that’s what I was comfortable with. As I got more gigs I transitioned to pop-rock stuff because I love the energy of playing rock live with a band. This year I actually wiped all my past material from Spotify/iTunes etc. to start fresh with a new sound! Currently, I’m releasing electropop/dance-pop songs because it is important to me that the music I put out is what I listen to on a daily basis. Although anyone who has been to my live shows knows that I still play a lot of rock. 'Zombie' is an incredibly memorable and authentic single. Can you tell us more about how the creation process went for the song? Thank you! Last October I was in a writing session with a producer I work with Carter Soso, and he had started a track that I was SUPER into. I was feeling festive and told him I wanted to write a Halloween song for the upcoming holiday. He advised me not to because we wouldn’t be able to finish the track and release it in time. I grudgingly agreed that he was right.  So he turned around in his producer chair and continued working on the track as I wrote the lyrics and melody. About 30 minutes later he asked what I had come up with. And I sang “Zombie” for him! Because sometimes when you are inspired by something you have to write about that. He was obviously right that there wasn’t enough time to put out the track so we agreed to save the song and release it in October 2019. So here we are! I have been waiting a full year to show “Zombie” to the world and I’m so excited about it, so I’m glad you like it as well! We know there's a deeper meaning and story behind "Zombie". Are you able to share with our BuzzMusic listeners what the song truly means to you, and where you drew your inspiration from? Definitely! “Zombie” is about wanting someone so badly that your life feels incomplete without them. In fact, it feels like you are only half alive, like a Zombie. Maybe if you just had one more night with this person, that would be enough to revive you. But until that happens, you only see them in your dreams. You imagine them breathing next to you, then you wake up and they are gone. That is the basis for the lyrics. As far as the track goes, I really wanted to capture that fun Halloween spirit so you will hear lots of sound effects in there! In this sense, we took a lot of inspiration from Thriller. Over the pop synths, you can hear werewolf howls, vampire cackles, scary screams, etc. My personal favorite is a Zombie growl sample that Carter found so keep an ear out for that! We’re so impressed by your songwriting abilities and achievements! What has been the most memorable achievement you’ve earned so far? I’ve been blessed to be able to play a lot of cool stages and work with some amazing musicians, but I’ve got to say my favorite memory is how it all began. When I was in high school I entered my song “When I’m With You” into an online contest. Basically listeners vote for their favorite song and when you get to the final rounds, the song with the least number of votes gets eliminated each day. I was thrilled to even make it to the elimination round and when it was narrowed down to the top 5 it looked like I may even have a chance at winning! But it got very dramatic in the last few days because the girl who was in the lead started calling me names on Twitter once she saw my song climbing the ranks. That is kind of tough for a 16-year-old to have a stranger on the internet bashing you. And then I saw she was asking her followers to cheat the system by voting with bots. So I felt pretty discouraged but I really wanted to win so I asked everyone in my classes to vote for my song, I drove around to small businesses and asked them to put up signs for my song, and emailed every person I knew asking them to vote. In the last few hours of the contest, I was neck and neck with the girl but my song pulled out ahead! I was so excited I cried and I will never forget my family all went out to my favorite Mexican restaurant to celebrate. The prize was a trip to the Kauai Music Festival where I learned so much about the music industry, met my first songwriting idol Jason Blume, met producers who helped me record my first album in Nashville, and met amazing songwriters that I am still friends with to this day. It was such an amazing experience that made me realize how much I wanted to pursue songwriting. If my hometown didn’t come through to support me for that one contest, I truly don’t know where I would be today. Thanks for coming to BuzzMusic to talk with us about your recent music! What’s next for you artistically? Any plans to release a music video for 'Zombie' My pleasure! There will be more electropop coming your way in 2020! And yes, I’m set to have a music video for “Zombie” out next week. Stay tuned! facebook.com/KeiraMoranMusic instagram.com/keira.moran.music #BuzzMusic

Can you tell our readers more about your upbringing and what really pushed you to get started in the music industry? Thank you for such a warm welcome! Music has always been very meaningful to me it was one of those things I could never let go. I started at a very young age when my parents put me in a choir and it all kinda started from there! also listening to my favorite artists growing up really inspired me and pushed me to become an artist myself. We’re always interested in how artists convey their music. If you had to describe yours without using any specific genre names (ie: Pop) how would you describe it? A storytelling masterpiece for sure! The real truth. We love your track 'With You', it’s very vulnerable and real. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind it? Do you try to base all of your songwriting on life experiences? Of course, the song with you was written for someone who has a very big chunk of my heart, she has made me a better person and helped me through my biggest struggles in life and that's my best friend and girlfriend! this was actually my first ever song written about someone I wanted to give it a try and it turned out being my best song yet so to answer that question I think its all preference but writing a song about real-life events vs. something made up is very different in many ways. What challenges have you faced as an up and coming artist in Los Angeles? How do you overcome those challenges? I think the one thing is about rising up in such a known music city is expressing yourself in a way that's you because there are so many people who will be the same as you but YOU have to be the one that can see the difference and if you do others will too. Thanks so much for sharing your new single 'With You' with us! What other projects are you working on!? Do you have any upcoming shows to support the new single? I'm actually working on my first ever album that should be coming out next year but I'm super excited to share it with all of you. instagram.com/chrisbensinger #BuzzMusic

  • Interview: Catching Up With Stunt

Welcome to BuzzMusic! How would you describe your approach to making music to someone who hasn't heard it before? I think my approach is different and familiar at the same time with the style I bring and with that heavy bass everyone loves. You've described your sound as "RnBay" and we love that! What do you think sets your sound apart in today's music scene? The sound I bring is unique everyone wants to sound like everyone else nowadays and are afraid to make their own sound. From the keys to that heavy bay area bass line sets me apart from a lot of music that is out. Have you always lived in Oakland? Do you think living in California gives you an edge in the music scene? I was born and raised in Oakland California. There is so much art and music and the vibe out here is different from a lot of places so I do think being from Cali gives me an edge in the music scene. We're loving your collaboration with Young Walker on "Back That Ass Up". How did this project come about? What was the writing process like for this track? I've known Young Walker quite a while. We were talking about making music the right beat presented itself and the hook came from there and the song just happen. • Natosh Renee Will Stun You With Angelic Vocals In “Forever”

Hailing from Toronto, CA, is R&B artist Natosh Renee. Finding her true love and calling for music, Natosh began singing and writing from an early age, having lots of time and experience to transform the ultimate sound of her music. Natosh is known for painting pictures of her innermost personal experiences with her music. As the best artists do, Natosh shares such a private aspect of her life to her listeners, establishing a sense of trust and security. We appreciate the raw honesty on Natosh’s end, and we can only hope to experience more of her soundings in the upcoming future! For now, we introduce her latest single: “Forever”. There’s such a natural essence and flow to the sound of Natosh in “Forever”. She effortlessly sounds angelic and captures the very expression of authenticity. Her voice will easily glide across your senses. She fills the atmosphere with inspiration and tranquility. The only accurate way we can describe the sound of Natosh Renee is therapeutic. She’s able to successfully draw listeners in with her vocal delivery, but then she keeps such attention with the healing elements of her sound. We can’t imagine a moment where we weren’t entranced during “Forever”. The lighter R&B aspects incorporated into “Forever” is what sets the overall tone of the track—Natosh integrates subtle and predominantly laid-back elements of modern R&B, which makes for a beautiful production. “Forever”, being produced by Pdub Cookin, is airy and relaxing in every way needed. At the end of the day, we can definitively say that we’re appreciative Natosh found her calling for music, as we don’t know what we would’ve done if we haven’t ever heard a voice like hers. Experience Natosh’s “Forever” here and get to know more from the artist through her interview below! Welcome to the BuzzMusic platform Natosh! Great to be featuring “Forever” here to our R&B listeners! Can you describe the elements you’re expressing in your music, that you believe differs from other R&B artists? Thank you for having me. As a singer and songwriter what I focus on in my creative process is always to share my truth and to know it’s ok to be more vulnerable in my music than I’ve been in my life. It’s become somewhat of a therapeutic outlet for me, a two-way conversation between my heart and soul every time I sing. In music, I’d like to change the narrative from what makes me different to more what can I say and do through my music to unify all artists to achieve the collective goal of healing and bringing happiness to our fans. Can you tell our readers more about the story behind “Forever” and how you came to put pen-to-paper for this particular track? Well, Forever is a personal expression of my feelings towards my then-boyfriend who is now my current fiancé who proposed to me on News Years in Vegas earlier this year. When we met it was just an easy cool comfortable vibe that attracted me to him. I had dated my fair share of F-boys, so in the back of my mind, I was really wondering could this be forever or is he going to do me dirty? I talk about the ups and downs in our relationship because we had those after the honeymoon phase faded off. But through it all, I realized I loved him and will always forever. What do you feel is the most pivotal aspect to maintain throughout your artistic career? Without a doubt, for me, it’s three things: Put God first and as the foundation of your career, Always keep pushing no matter what occurs keep your eye on the end goal and to operate from a heart full of gratitude and appreciation for literally every experience. I feel with all of these things in mind weapons may form but they will never prosper. I like to keep my goals simple the money, the fame and the glitz is just extra but it’s not what will fulfill me in the end. How do your performances feel? Do you feel that inert connection with your audience while you’re performing? Does it come naturally to you?! The performance I just recently had after maybe like 7 years of never singing for a crowd felt super stomach butterflies at first. It was for So Far Sounds Toronto and once I sat down I just felt at home. I love people and I focus on the good energy, smiling faces and people I can see are enjoying my performance.  What you focus on expands and when it’s good energy it’s contagious and your performance gets more authentic and less in your head if that makes sense. Thanks for featuring “Forever” on BuzzMusic, and allowing our readers to really feel that angelic and tranquil atmosphere your recent track brings about. Any parting words for the BuzzMusic community? I’d like to thank you for taking the time to feature me on this dope platform that really pushes creatives and gives us all a way to achieve our dreams. I’d love to share my Instagram page which is @NatoshRenee and my YouTube @NatoshRenee on there too. You can find my single and more music to come on all streaming platforms soon to come to iTunes. instagram.com/natoshrenee #BuzzMusic

  • Getting To Know Lauren Howard

Hey Lauren Howard! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We really appreciated the blend of sounds incorporated in your latest single "Reason". Tell us more about how you came to create this particular song? “Reason” was created over a two week period, which was produced by Jonathon Perkins and Mathew Mcgaughy. It started as a rough vocal and piano and later was developed into a piece that flows through emotion. The song talks about two people arguing and finding themselves quickly drifting apart while they both refusing to be the source of the problem. "Reason" felt packed with passion and emotion. Do you find it easy to pour your raw emotions into your music? Are you comfortable with being this vulnerable with your listeners? I find it easiest to create music based on experience. All my music comes from the experiences, friends/family and emotions that I feel on a daily basis. I believe that without pouring in my emotions, my music can’t convey to me as a person. We can imagine your performances would be completely electric, yet intimate. Do you feel that you connect with your listeners when performing? It’s easy for me to perform and dive into connection with my listeners. I like to keep a lively aura and keep the fun going. With your debut single out now, can your listener expect a long project in the near future? Definitely! I’m currently working on some music to put out soon, very soon. Would you say that you're content with how you are as an artist today? Is there any other element you want to integrate into your music?! I’m pretty confident in myself as an artist. Of course, I can always use some improvement because no one is perfect, but I use that as a challenge to further my skills and develop my music. It was a treat to present your music here on BuzzMusic! What are your ultimate goals/plans as an artist going forward? My ultimate goals are to just enjoy what I do. I’m young and have a lot to do with my life. I couldn’t care for the money as long as I get to enjoy myself and bring smiles to my listener's faces. twitter.com/therealoglh facebook.com/laurendhd instagram.com/lorrynne #BuzzMusic

I felt I had something to say, something someone could relate to. Music is like therapy, and I wanted to be that for others. You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into his lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “Still Motions”? For a while, I wasn’t making time for my family or friends in my personal life. Everything revolved around music and work if I wasn’t working for a paycheck I was in the studio, or at a show. I got so self-involved I didn’t notice the distance I had put between me and my family. This song was my acknowledgment of that fact, a wake-up call. Since you’ve been making music for several years, how would you compare some of the earlier material you’ve written to your newest release “Still Motions”? I actually recently compared some of my older material to my new, and some moments were cringe-worthy. I feel I’ve tamed my voice now, my lyrics are a lot tighter, I feel like I’ve tapped into myself. I and the beats flow together effortlessly now. We’ve also been bumping your album “Homecoming”! Congratulations on your huge return from your hiatus. What have been some of your proudest or most memorable moments in music so far? Being able to travel overseas these last couple of years was a big milestone in my musical career. I had dreamt of performing abroad since I was a kid. I got to perform at the New Skool Rules conference in the Netherlands, and various shows in Barcelona and Paris. We really appreciate you chatting with us about your incredible music! What’s next for you artistically? Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways? I plan on pumping out as much material as possible. I want to be all over the place in 2020. I feel like I haven’t shown enough of myself, I want to flood my fans with new visuals and content. I also have an interest in songwriting for other artists getting together and creating outside of my lane. @whereishollow #BuzzMusic
