Listen to “Take Me There” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey Simone! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How long have you been involved in the music industry? How did you get started? Thank You! I am happy to be a part of the BuzzMusic Community. My mother introduced me to the music/entertainment world at a young age. I grew up watching her perform on stage, sometimes, bringing me on stage with her. She was really the one who inspired me to want to follow in her footsteps. It was ten years of voice and piano lessons, performing at local open mics and events, auditioning for singing competitions, navigating my way through producers, managers, talent agents, that has led me to where I am today. It wasn’t until this year that I found someone who was willing to invest in me and help me develop my craft. Together we have been creating music that I can finally say I love, and with these songs, I am looking forward to paving my way into the music industry as a thriving artist. We love your debut track “Take Me There”!! Can you tell us the meaning behind the lyrics and what you hope your fans take away from this song? Take Me There was written from a personal experience, of course. Growing up I was always skeptical of relationships and the expectations of being in a relationship, and I think that derived from my father telling me to never depend on a man all my life. In a sense, that became a standard I held for myself, to always put myself and my dreams first before anyone or anything. Now that I’m older, and I’ve found that comfort being on my own, I can say that I am ready and mature enough to finally explore that option. Take Me There is my expression of curiousness towards love and what it might be like to let someone in for the first time. I’ve never fully dedicated myself to someone, and that’s ok. I feel like society has made it a norm to have to be in a relationship, to have to be married at a certain age, and that’s not always the right way for everyone. Don’t conform just, because everyone is doing it. Do what you think is best for you, what will help you grow closer to becoming the best version of yourself. If being in a relationship helps you grow as a person, amazing go for it, if it’s focusing on finding who you are on your own, then that’s amazing too. Only you know what is right for you! From an artist's perspective, what’s your favorite part of “Take Me There”? Why? There’s not one specific part that I favor more. If anything, I favor the whole process of how this song came about. Take Me There was the first song I wrote that was completely raw and straightforward lyrically. When I approach a song, I am usually obsessed with metaphors, really making it riddle-like just to see how the audience would interpret it; that’s always fun. But I remember sitting down on my piano and just surrendering to my emotions the day I wrote this song. I wrote whatever came to mind in that moment, and not once did I overthink a word or sentence, which is usually all I do. From the verses to the hook to the chorus, it was such a rare, effortless write for me, and that is what made this release so special! Do you have any upcoming events you’d like to tell our readers about? Yes, I am currently planning my next Single Release, and I am so excited. A release date has yet to be determined, but I will be announcing it very soon on all social media platforms so stay tuned! What’s next for you, Simone? There’s nothing worse than shelving your craft out of fear, the fear of it not being good enough, the fear of others’ opinions, even the fear of not meeting your own expectations when you do take that risk. I have been working really hard to make music I am proud of, and now that I have accomplished that, my next step is fearlessly releasing them one by one. As long as I do my part, I know the universe will take care of the rest! Connect with Simone on social media: www.instagram.com/simonelmusic www.twitter.com/simonelmusic #BuzzMusic

  • MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE: “Dotted Line” By Jaonere

London based singer/songwriter, Jaonere’s, latest music video for “Dotted Line” shows the raw and emotional side of a one-sided relationship. He could have taken things in a playful or sarcastic manner but instead, the video begins with Jaonere talking to his significant other on the phone and he isn’t able to fit a word in. The emotion and frustration on his face are evident and well-fit to the sentiments of the song. As Jaonere sings every word through a neighborhood landscape, he develops confidence and swagger that was absent from the intro. Throughout the visuals for “Dotted Line”, Jaonere inspires and uplifts listeners in similar situations, he slowly gains more energy and confidence with each verse. At the very end when “Dotted Line” comes to a close, we again see Jaonere sitting by the phone, but this time he lets it ring and walks away from the emotional turmoil. Overall the brand new visuals for “Dotted Line” do a brilliant job of capturing the theme and powerful message of the song. Joanere gives his fans a view of his heart and soul in this new release. He turns life experiences into flawless and vulnerable lyricism, forming further connections with his fans. Stream “Dotted Line” here and check out the brand new visuals and our exclusive interview with Jaonere below! Welcome back to BuzzMusic! Can you tell us about your new song “Dotted Line”? What emotions did you channel when creating this song? Thanks again for having me! The song “Dotted Line” explores the feeling of committing to something you haven’t quite ‘signed up for’. It has a bit of a throwback vibe yet contemporary and fresh. I have been wanting to write a song like this for a while now, but think when the idea came to me I wasn’t able to really articulate how I felt. Sometimes you have to move on from a situation to gain real perspective on your actions and the variables around the circumstances. The feeling of frustration and accountability was definitely the focus when writing the song. I felt like I was speaking for myself but also for others who have shared with me their own situations that mirrored the theme of “Dotted Line”. Whether it was in their work, love life, or personally, that feeling of frustration and then the retrospect of what you could have done differently to avoid the outcome always came up. The music video is extremely captivating! What’s the overall concept? Thank you! I’m glad you think so! The overall concept of the video starts off with a TV show where in the beginning, it is depicted as though it is “real life”, until the camera zooms out to reveal it’s inside the 1970’s TV. I chose a 1970’s TV with a wooden finish because it was reminiscent of the first TV I had in my living room growing up. My character in the TV show is having a conversation with someone on the phone, an actual 90’s transparent landline phone which you don’t really see anymore. The phone really added to the nostalgic feel. My character on the phone illustrates the frustration of trying to come to a common ground after someone has had a “change of heart”, but this person refuses to hear you out on the matter. This leaves my character deflated and low as the camera pans out and transitions to me walking down Lancaster Road in West London. I’ve always loved this road because of the colour of the houses. The next three scenes express the narrative even more along with a choreography. This scene was shot near the neighbourhood of my childhood home. Maybe it’s familiarity, but for me, that neighbourhood will always feel like a place I can depend on and trust, even though I haven’t lived there in years. This sentiment contrasts to the theme of “Dotted Line”. The choreography is very strong and militant which almost makes it feel like I have back up from friends on the situation. In the final scene, the phone rings and my character considers picking up the phone but walks away to leave it ringing. This scene exemplifies that you don’t always have to stay in a situation that no longer serves you and that is OK to walk away as hard as it might be at times. What was the filming process like? The video was shot over two full days, perhaps 16 hours in total. The filming process was very smooth and felt really surreal as I have always wanted to put out a visual for a song. A friend recommended a friend of his called Kofi to shoot the video. He worked with a producer called Aiko who ran a casting with me to find dancers two weeks before shooting. I had never really done choreography before so this was new for me but I wanted to try something new and step out of my comfort zone. I made it clear to the dancers that they have nothing to worry about and if anything they would need to teach me a few things *laughs*. Day 1 was shot in Hackney Wick, which is in East London and Day 2 was shot at Lancaster Road in West London and Wembley, North West London. On both days it was a race against the sun as we needed natural daylight to achieve the looks we were going for in each scene, but I think they all came out pretty well in the end. I was the creative director and also assisted in the editing of the video as I had already envisioned how I wanted each scene to look, and feel before even finding anyone to film it. How have you overcome and persevered through the feeling you had when creating “Dotted Line”? Writing “Dotted Line” was very cathartic. I find that I’m able to share a situation with people once I’m over it. Also time, as I said earlier, you get a real perspective on a situation over time. Accountability is a big factor that has helped. When you realise that nothing is personal you can see things from an object standpoint. It no longer feels like a sensitive topic to address or highlight, but more so acknowledgment of what has transpired and how it can be rectified. It is true what they say, knowledge is most definitely power. From knowing the potential outcomes of any situation, you can safeguard yourself and others involved by being very clear form the get go to prevent mishaps. Probably easier said than done but the more you do it the less you will find yourself in the situation of feeling powerless and unsatisfied. Do you have any plans to release any more singles before your EP release in January 2020? The next single I want to release will likely be with the EP or just before in December. We’ll see, I have a few songs ready to go but it’s all about timing to give the song the best opportunity. What do you hope to achieve as an artist going forward through the end of 2019? Before the year ends I want to gain as many fans as possible as they are the foundation for any artist. Hopefully “Dotted Line” and the music video will be a good starting point for most. I also want to finish recording my EP and perhaps shoot another music video ready for 2020. Wish me luck! • A Synth Rock Opus from Voices Below

Now, we don't use the word "opus" lightly. Stories by the Lake, the massive LP from Voices Below is as close to an opus as it gets within the genre. It seems the LP title isn't just a clever name either. The record goes through an array of musical chapters each one swaying you to keep going on. Be ready for some genre bouncing as the record has some superb guitar work with songwriter Michael Goldberg delving into creating each song with its own sound. Best listened to on a good lengthy night drive alone, you start to get a grasp of what you're in for with the first track "The Fallen". A more guitar-driven alternative rock song with a strangely addicting and almost familiar sound. Then there are synth-pop ballads like "The Ground Beneath Our Feet" that play out like a darkwave theatre track. With most songs, if you listen carefully, it's easy to tell Goldberg (who wrote and recorded the album), gives his all emotionally or lyrically. There is something to be said for that. So, as said earlier, Stories By The Lake is an opus of sorts. A synth-rock opus, and every minute gets darker and smokier until it's the finale. Check out this record here. www.voicesbelow.bandcamp.com/releases www.facebook.com/voicesbelowband

From the small suburb of Pennsauken, NJ, just across the bridge from Philadelphia, PA, solo rock artist Malcolm Hazel is turning heads across the globe with his debut single, “Big Brother.” His unique style of hard rock/alternative metal is reminiscent of the 70s/80s, but is also influenced by modern pop and classical music. Although this is his first release, Malcolm’s musical background is extensive. He has played in various original projects and cover bands consistently since the age of 10. After many years of trial and error, and bandmates with other things to do, Malcolm decided it was time to give it a go as a solo artist. In just a few short months, Malcolm Hazel has attracted quite a bit of attention on Instagram; taking requests and being featured on large pages like University of Rock and Guitars Are Better. He plans to keep the momentum going by releasing one new single every month through the end of the year, leading up to a full-length album and tour. “Big Brother” is a new hard-hitting track laced with elements that Malcolm is best known for. The rhythmic and heavy textures layered with experimental melodies and grooves are what set this track apart in the music industry. Pulling inspiration from his diverse influences, “Big Brother” bleeds through the speakers with high energy confidence and intense strength. The chemistry Malcolm has with music becomes clear when you hear the finely-tuned production quality and precise fusion of musical arrangements. “Big Brother” is a track that anyone can listen to and relate to. The emotion and soul behind this track are admirable and leaves us craving more! Stay on the lookout for Malcolm Hazel! Check out “Big Brother” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hi Malcolm! Welcome to BuzzMusic. How did you originally get started making music? Hey, thanks for having me! It's an honor to speak with you. So to go way back, I remember there was one day that I decided I didn't want to watch Barney because I discovered an old guitar that was lying around the house. It seemed like a fun new toy so I started banging around on that here and there for a few years. I began electric guitar lessons when I was about 10. At about that same time, I formed a band with some classmates and we called ourselves The Rubber Band. I've been going non-stop ever since! We loved your track “Big Brother”. Can you dive into more details about the meaning of the lyrics? What do you hope your listeners take away from it? As a songwriter, there are times when you just feel like you are about to write something, even when you have no idea what you’re about to write. On the day of writing this, I found myself wandering aimlessly through Walmart with no intention of buying anything, and scrolling through social media observing the world and looking for something to spark inspiration. Then it just hit. I heard the melody and the “I’m Your Big Brother” line that starts the song off. At that point, I was in character and off to the races with writing. I almost feel like the song was already written and I just grabbed it out of thin air. It was all done in one night. When I woke up the next morning, I knew I had written something but couldn’t remember what. I sat down to eat breakfast and read through the pages that were scattered all over the table. There it was! Usually, after a late night writing session there will be parts that need editing or rewriting, but that was not the case on this one. I was a little scared by it at first, but I feel like this song is very relevant to the times we live in. It is not meant to be taken too literally or seriously, it’s actually quite comical. I hope you enjoy! What is your writing process like when curating a new song? How do you know when it’s truly finished? My writing process is different every time. Sometimes the music comes first, sometimes the lyrics. Prior to music or lyrics there's usually some concept or idea that I want to paint a picture of. Generally, it is a concept that I am feeling some amount of dissatisfaction with. I don't generally write about things that make me happy. There's usually some sort of battle that goes on throughout the course of a song, but by the end we overcome struggles, defeat demons, and emerge victorious. On that front, I know the song is finished when the story has been told and we have emerged victorious. Although, I'm also a big believer in the idea that a song is never truly finished, as the initial recording and writing of it are really just the beginning of its life. That's the beauty of live performance. A song can always evolve! What’s your stage presence like? I've been told my energy is "infectious." I don't get to move around a whole lot as I'm sort of stuck to the microphone, but that doesn't really take away anything. In fact, it actually allows me to put even more energy into the performance. What’s next for you through the end of 2019? I plan on releasing a new single every month through the end of the year. That will be followed by a full length album and tour at some point in 2020. Have you had any professional training or having you honed your vocal style over time? Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my music and the lovely words! I have been singing and have been lucky enough to have professional training since I was a young girl. This continued through school and led me to following my love and passion for music through my schooling after high school, with a diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Voice. "Pour It To Me Straight" was the only song off my recent EP that I did not write, but was written by two fantastic writers, Doug Folkins and Troy Castellano. Doug sent me this song when we first met as he thought it may be a tune that I connected with. From the moment I heard the song, I could not move on from it. I found it had such a unique way or portraying emotion and a song I felt I needed/ wanted to sing. It has so many varying emotions in one song, anger, sadness, heartache, sassiness, empowerment and power all in one. • New Music From North Florida Reggae Artist Mic Mirad: “Never”

Based in North Florida, Mic Mirad is a talented new artist that flawlessly blends reggae and hip-hop. Not only is he a gifted performing artist, but the multi-talented Mic Mirad is also a producer and mixing engineer. Influenced by reggae artists like Buju and soul singers like Eryka, his musical fusion was bound to succeed. “Never” offers the fullness of a reggae band, along with a notable alternative hip-hop aura that fuses with that raw musicality in an energizing way. Where many instrumental compositions follow a progressive and somewhat experimental story-line, there are definite threads of familiarity throughout this piece. Moments of melody and flickers of character, all of which help “Never” feel like a recognizable song in many ways. It’s an unusual quality but one that helps present a level of identity that will likely allow listeners to connect the music to the artist in an instant after hearing it even just once. There are stages to “Never”, moments of change and evolution. All the while though, the energy remains at a constant high bringing brightness at the forefront of the experience. There’s just the added benefit of movement to help hold tight to your interest. I highly recommend you give “Never” a listen and stay tuned for more! Check out “Never” here and read more with Mic Mirad below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! What does the release of “Never” represent for you? Greetings! Releasing 'Never' is a milestone I've been waiting to cross for some years now. It represents the ripening of the fruit that is Mirad, and the evolution of MY label, Boutique Musick. It represents me completing my circle as a Hip Hop, Soul, and a Reggae Artist. What feelings do you hope to instill in your listeners when they hear your music? I want people to feel free and fulfilled after listening. I created this whole project to introduce something they may not be familiar with, but still can gravitate towards it like its something they've been involved with all along. 'Reggae Musick Vol. 1' touches on a variety of subject matters while not straying from a fun and positive wave. What emotions did you channel when creating “Never”? Writing 'Never' brought forth a nonchalant form of insecurity. If you peep the lyrics in a line like: Since you let me (go), It's myself Unu and me; Mi say mi dandy, I'm lying I can't stand it. It's me trying to act like I'm all good with carrying on life alone, only to admit It actually sucks lol. It also brought forth a lot of joy because of the Vibe the product gives, so it's not sad listen, it's more so picking at myself and stepping into my actual truth. What is your most profound influence when curating your pieces? First and foremost Jah (God) has been my most profound influencer. He influenced me to create this whole project, not just for myself but for everyone who comes in contact with it. He made me reflect in ways I've never reflected before, which led to me creating like I have never created before. What’s next for you through the end of 2019? A: I plan on performing the remainder of the year, spreading Reggae Musick as far as I can through digital and physical energy. I am also gearing up to release a number of collaborative projects with some extremely talented musicians in the Atlanta area. Just keep an ear on Mirad and you'll be in for quite an audiological experience. Connect with Mic Mirad on social media: www.Instagram.com/Mirad.musick www.unitedmasters.com/mic-mirad

Slim and G are known to offer something refreshing and undoubtedly welcome in the contemporary music scene. Check out “Majin Buu” here and read more with Depth and Soul in our exclusive interview below! Hey Slim and G! Welcome to BuzzMusic, how did you originally get started together? We’ve known each other since high school so we have spent a lot of time together. We always listened and criticized music but actually making music ourselves never crossed our mind until earlier this year. We took separate paths after high school and eventually rejoined in Fresno in late 2018. We started making music just to see what sounds we could produce and if it was good... it wasn’t. We’re pretty determined individuals with a high work ethic so we were inspired to research more about the music industry and how we could achieve success within it. Our sound is still very much a work in progress but curiosity and ambition ultimately drove our desire to become artists. Can you dive into the meaning of the lyrics in “Majin Buu”? What does this track represent for you? Lyrics in “Majin Buu” represent a mixture of our lives currently and how we envision it to be in the near future. Press ‘play’ on the track then close your eyes... The song will take you through our journey while also lifting your spirits. What can listeners expect from your upcoming EP? Extended Play Volume One has songs that were made in our first week of ever making music. Extended Play Volume Two is about a month into us making music, so expect a lot of progression. We have taken more time to understand what it means to be an artist and find our own processes for creativity. Extended Play Volume Two will boast better vocals, mixing and overall sound quality. New sounds that are different from our first release, but nothing special when compared to what we have coming over the next few months. We’ve been cooking recently... If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound, which song would you choose and why? A (released) song that may accurately describe us is ‘GO!’ from EP Vol. 1. It’s hard to choose just one song to capture our personalities. We create music for lots of different mood so you’ll be able to find different parts of who we are within each unique song. What do you hope to achieve as hip-hop artists through the end of 2019? Through 2019, we hope to gain a solid fanbase and deliver some heat to those fans! • Check Out All-Female Indie-Rock Band The Roommates!

The Roommates are a Dallas-based, all-female indie rock band that burst into the music scene in late 2017. This heavy-hitting quartet leaves nothing on the table, combining powerful vocals and airy guitar solos with emotional and dark undertones, serving the listener a strong dose of tour de force. Believing that music is its language and emotion, this is no hobby for these ladies, but more so a form of essential life therapy in which they have opened themselves up for others to witness, partake and share in. With the release of their first 2 singles in 2019, The Roommates spent the majority of their time in 2019 playing live shows and touring the state of Texas, letting their message captivate any audience they found themselves in front of. After carving out a spot for themselves in the local scene, The Roommates are now in the process of recording their first full-length album that is set to release in early 2020. In early 2019, the group released their first single titled “Illusionary War,” a dramatic piece that showcases the band's ability to deliver a sharp message while simultaneously sweeping you into a melodic and euphoric trance. Personal turmoil or reflections on the darker side of life have long been a crucial muse in hard rock writing and the music of The Roommates. This particular release is one that cleverly hints at a certain struggle or battle, within the self, but leaves just enough to the imagination that those feeling isolated or alone. The leading voice throughout “Illusionary War” encompasses the very emotions of the lyrics incredibly well – the verses are enough to fuse melody and grit with that unmistakable The Roommates tone, then you get the drop into the weight and scream of the hook. The whole thing just pours emotion and volume into the room in a manner that effectively relieves you of your stresses for a while, releases you from the grip of uncertainty. Riding on the heels of their first single, The Roommates released their second single in June 2019 titled “Psycho.” This high energy track takes an even deeper dive into the raw and edgy waters The Roommates love to play in, reiterating their desire to create, write and present their material with reckless abandon. Starting things off is a quickly appealing and satisfying, distorted guitar riff-heavy and unique enough to reignite the genre indie-rock fans have loved and perhaps missed for several years. The Roommates has incorporated the perfect guitar layer, one that rises and falls like a manically beating heart, as well as moving expressively in line with the varying energy of the vocal and the drums. That main riff is superb and leaves as much of an impression as the song’s hook and the singer’s vocals. Coming in at four minutes and eighteen seconds, “Psycho” hits you hard and undoubtedly leaves a mark. The Roommates undoubtedly utilize contrast well enough to let the second half come through in a more familiar and immersive way. Another step in the right direction for modern rock, and yet another hit of creative individuality and musical realness from The Roommates. How did The Roommates come to fruition? Hi there! We are an all-female rock band based out of Dallas, Tx. The founding members, Mallory McAdams and Lonnie Shields, met in college circa 2009 where they quickly realized they had a very strong musical connection. From our similar musical influences to the actual songs we would jam together, we just had a very natural connection that we knew was different. We did not pursue anything serious at this point, mainly just played at house parties for our friends. We moved to Dallas after college, and actually ended up living together, which goes into the meaning behind the name of the band. We lived together for about 4 years, and began playing acoustic cover shows around Dallas at small bars under our newly formed band name, “The Roommates.” We played acoustic cover gigs for about 2 years, and added a third member to the group during this time, Jesse Johnson. Looking back now, adding Jesse to the mix was the catalyst to pushing us to expand and do our own material. The sound and depth that Jesse provided, even in the acoustic sets, it just made a lot of doors open within our minds, especially Mallory who had already been writing her own material for years but just had never seriously presented it. It was at this point, in the summer of 2017, we started to hit a major wall. We knew deep down that we were wanting to create our own material, that we wanted to have the ultimate connection to music while performing, and that would mean we needed begin the process to write and perform our own material. We wanted to go, full band, so Jesse connected us with Marisa Saltzgiver- a friend of hers that was the drummer in the previous band she was in. We all decided gathered one night to see what would happen, just to see what it would feel like playing full band would feel like. We knew immediately after the first song we ran through, that we were scrapping on something extremely special. We knew from that point forward that nothing would be the same, in regards to our music, and that we all wanted to pursue whatever this thing was that just presented itself to us in that full band jam session. Once we made that decision, it was like the Universe responded to us, because very shortly after that first jam session, we were presented the opportunity to play our first full band show 3 weeks later. From that point forward, we’ve been steady at work developing meaningful relationships within the Dallas Music Scene, slowly carving out a spot for ourselves within this industry. We feel grateful the chance to grow within such an active and supportive music scene here in Dallas. Can you dive into some lyrics within your tracks “Illusionary War” and “Psycho”? What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? Both of these songs are intense. And one thing we love about music is that the message within a song can be interpreted several different ways. One listener may connect and interpret a song in one way while another listener interprets the song completely differently. I’ve always wanted to ask this same question to people, without them knowing the place in which we were coming from when we wrote the songs, to see what their initial interpretation of the song is. Illusionary War was the first single we presented to the world. This song makes several strong statements while also leaving a lot of room for the listener to create their own interpretation of the song. We definitely encourage the listener to interpret the song however it best connects with them, but we will give you some insight on the meaning behind this song to us. It’s funny because like all songs, over time, this song begins to gain new meaning for us in different ways than it originally was written for – but here are some of the consistent themes for us. It is obvious that we are living in polarizing times within our culture. There are many issues coming to the surface that cannot be ignored any longer. There are many aspects of our reality and culture that are being proven to be not so accurate. It is becoming more and more apparent how fear-based our culture is, how we literally have formed massive and generalized opinions about people, places, and/or things that we truly know nothing about, just because someone told us “this is how it is.” We are made to believe everything is scary, that anything different than us is bad/evil, and that if we don’t live a certain way, we will go to a fiery hell for eternity. When we all know that is not true – that is the illusion. This song is challenging the listener to evaluate their own life, to take back control of their own minds, and to pursue the truth in an unapologetic manner. We are challenging the listener to break free from the illusions that have been planted our minds that cause actual conflict within the physical world that leads to actual physical war in our collective reality. Psycho is a song that displays the inner intense emotions of the band. When I (Mallory) initially wrote the lyrics to the song, I was in a very low place. I am an intense person, and sometimes I struggle with my handling my emotions. While I believe my intensity positively contributes to my creativity, there is a flip side to that which can be hard to deal with. I tend to be very hard on myself when I do have low moments, so it’s like a vicious cycle of getting upset, and then getting upset with myself because I’m upset – so that makes me feel crazy sometimes. Also, within our culture, it seems that we are ashamed to feel certain ways or admit that we are having a hard time. We are labeled “crazy” for basically showing emotion. Women in particular. So, we wanted to write a song that addressed all of these things – the painful cycle of mental illness while also tapping into the frustrations of dealing with being a woman- physically, mentally, hormonally, emotionally – all of those things. This song is basically openly addressing the ugly parts of yourself for what they are – exposing and admitting them yourself, so you can confront them, instead of burying them to only resurface even stronger later down the line. How have you grown and evolved as a band since your debut? What have you learned? How have you grown: We look back at when we first came together and that very first practice we ever had together. In our minds it was more of a jam session, not realizing what we were about to stumble upon. We had a connection that very first night, but now it was about to be the ultimate test moving forward, especially as we were creating new songs and taking songs that Mallory had already written, and transforming them from being played in an acoustic, to a full band setting. Over the last year, it has not been easy. Many clashing of ideas and ways that we hear songs. It’s not always pretty. Yeah, when you hear the song come together you may think “gah, this sounds like it fell right in your lap!” When in all honesty, we were about to kill each other! But now that we have been together for over a year, we have found ways of communicating what one would want from a song and just the learning process of coming together as one while creating. We’ve come a long way since the start with this and continuing to grow practice after practice, when we come together. What has been one of your most memorable or life-changing achievements so far? Most memorable for all of us, I think would be hands down our first ever tour run this year. Summer of 2018, we spoke it into existence that it was something we wanted to do in 2019. We put the word out there, spent countless hours reaching out to venues and getting shot down, and reached out to some amazing sources that we have to make this run as smooth as possible. Before we knew it, we had venues and bands locked in for shows outside of dallas and it was go time. We called our tour “The Fresh Legs Tour”, when in all honesty, it should’ve been called “The Emotional Tour.” Every single day and night, we woke up thankful for having the opportunity to do something we only dreamed of. To most, it may not mean a lot because it was only a week tour run. But to us, it meant everything! Seeing faces we haven’t seen in years come out and support us at each venue out of town, left us speechless every single night. Sadly, the start of the tour our guitarist, Jesse, lost her grandma just an hour into our drive to Austin. In that moment, it brought us so much closer together to keep her spirits lifted and just brought us together in general. The running joke before we left, was that we were gonna hate each other and not want to be around each other for at least, two weeks after the last tour show. And boy were we wrong. Within an hour of everybody going their separate ways, we instantly texted in our group chat how we missed each other. That’s when we realized the impact that our tour run had on each of us and just showed, this is where we were supposed to be and how much we wanted to continue doing this. What other projects are you working on through the end of 2019? We have been gigging consistently since the end of 2017, so we have decided to slow down from playing shows this fall to focus more on writing and recording some new material. We are excited to spend some time regrouping, reflecting on the things we have done up to this point, and beginning the process of working on new material as a band this fall. We plan to spend the rest of 2019 in creation mode, working towards releasing a full-length album at the beginning of 2020.
